Feel Like a Failure? On MistakesFeel Like a Failure?4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
So you feel like a failure? Like your whole life is just one mistake after the other? The truth is, we all feel that way, because that's what life is, really. One shortcoming after another. But there's good news in that.
A smart man follows advice when it's first given, but a wise man learns it from experience. And what is experience, but trial and error? If you are right the first time, then you know how to do something, but if you make the mistake, you learn twice as much; what to do, and what NOT to do.
Mistakes are a teacher's greatest aspect. I used to think that in order to help people, I had to be perfect myself, but I find that through my failures and my shortcomings, I can offer the best advice. I've learned that from the people who've taught me as well. My parents aren't perfect, nor are they gallant military folk or 'heroes' by the modern sense of the word, but its through their humbleness that they've taught me some of the greatest lessons, and it's that very co

Why is Hell Necessary?1. Sin and CrimeWhy is Hell Necessary?2 years ago in Academic Essays More Like This
Sin is like crime. When you commit a crime, you are breaking the law. When you commit sin, you are breaking God’s Law. If a Judge let a criminal go without punishment, we would call him unjust. Thus, if God allowed sin to go unpunished, that would make God unjust.
2. How Severe is Sin?
One of the major problems I encounter when telling people about sin and hell is that they simply don’t grasp how severe sin is. While the comparison above is a good illustration, it doesn’t do justice in communicating how bad sin is. Sin is an act of evil that is against the very nature of God. God is so pure and holy that He cannot commit sin, it’s against His very nature to do so.
It’s so important you understand this. If you find yourself going back to the idea that “sin isn’t so bad” then you still don’t get it. SIN IS EVIL. Sin is of Satan. Sin is against God. Sin is severe.

1.) A very important and often overlooked aspect of the art industries is networking. Get to know people and especially get to know who is important to know. Acquire a list of contacts and MAINTAIN those contacts. Don't call someone up after ten years of radio silence then be like "hi, remember me? Need job now, can has?" Also, don't be a dick to people and don't burn bridges. You'd be surprised how quickly that can get you blacklisted from a variety of places. Even if someone is a rampaging, fiery doucheflute, cope..... pretty much like any other job. keep your contacts list nice and organized. Sounds like frivolous advice but trust me, it's not. When you have several hundred contacts, being able to go "who's the guy I did that porn mural with.... *scrolls down to PORN category* oh right, HIM," can make networking much more efficient and a lot less confusing.

Protective Tendencies One shot-
That was how Tony had described his R&D labs to Bruce that fateful day on the helicarrier. That was exactly what it was and surprisingly Bruce didn't feel like fleeing to another country. Perhaps it was that Tony was not afraid of him or the other guy. In fact Tony was still poking and prodding the good doctor trying to get him to as he so acutely put it 'hulk out'. No matter what Stark did Banner never hulked out. Not once. Not even when Tony showed him what he deemed 'The green room' so he could let the bigger guy out to play. Bruce just laughed it off before going back to his lab.
Tony was still working on convincing Bruce that the Hulk was a nice guy, using the same old 'you both saved my life' line. When he brings that up Bruce simply pretends he didn't hear. However after Tony leaves Bruce stops writing the equation he was working on and thinks about what the goateed genius said. Both of him had saved his best friend. Heh, he had

I try so hard to change for people
Do what they want,
Listen to their critiques,
Try to be a good friend..
But you know?
Everyone makes mistakes,
is not perfect,
is tired and stressed and slips,
It is never good enough,
no matter what I do,
nobody ever sees what I changed,
everybody always only sees my faults.
I get criticised for what I did wrong,
but never acknowledged for what I changed,
I give up.
I don't have the energy anymore,
to always justify myself,
to always go up and be the one,
that is bad,
to always be the one,
Sometimes I think I'm better off without anyone...
Tony's First Day"But I don't want to go to school!" Tony listened as some children around him started throwing fits, clinging onto their parents for dear life. He stood silently, holding his father's hand as they waited for the teacher to greet them. Howard glanced down, giving his son the smallest of smiles. Tony didn't care. He didn't believe in that smile. He knew Mom had made Dad take him to his first day of school, anyway. "A public school will help him get to know other kids and learn to socialize better!" his mother had argued while Tony sat on the carpet, organizing his small toolkit.
"So you don't even want him to go to the school to actually learn anything, you just want him to make friends?" Howard had retorted. The argument had continued like this, but Tony tuned it out, finding their statements boring.
So here he stood, holding his father's hand in this u
We all need a hero. When my brother was a young kid, he loved superheroes. Seriously, he had DVDs of Batman, Spiderman, you name it and it was his. I'm pretty sure they were his favourite thing of all time. And it's easy to see why - kids love to be inspired by these things, to become something that they're not and impress everybody. But as I grew older, I started realising that there is more to why superheroes are so loved than what a child's perception is.We all need a hero.3 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Every superhero is an outcast, even if it's not directly obvious. They stick out like a sore thumb, and nobody wants to be friends with them. This is an obvious trait in Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. He is small and scrawny unlike the rest of the men around him who are joining the army, and is desperate to belong. Take Peter Parker, aka Spiderman. He's the nerd. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. The genius billionaire who thinks on a wavelength above normal humans. Even before they become superheroes, they're different. But when they find their alt

Bumblebee dodged another blast before taking cover behind a rock next to Arcee. The two of them were attempting to get the latest unearthed relic from the Decepticons before they had a chance to use it. But it seemed that the 'Cons weren't going to make this easy for them, which most likely had something to do with the fact that Megatron was there.
"Do you know what that relic does 'Cee?" he questioned.
"No idea, just try not to get hit by it."
Glancing at the rocks around them the scout remembered how he had used the dust and dirt from them to trick Airachnid once. Maybe he could do something similar to give him enough cover to snatch the relic. Quickly he shot at all of the rocks, stirring up a large cloud of dust as a cover before sneaking out to try to get the relic before the 'Cons could leave. Bumblebee thought he was doing a good job when he suddenly felt himself get blasted in the chest.

Doddering about before there were names for the malaise
That hazed their thinking
And from this modest crown there slouched and sloped
A long shoulder, meandering down to meadows below
Pausing now and again to coddle a pleasant hollow
Casting a sloping pitch enough to rush a torrent
After a sudden shower
Its glint and glimmer burble among the stones
To join a rill and plash and swirl and putter about a root
It's there I'm apt to wander
Not much of a path, hard passed and thorny
As twisted and narrow as the thoughts of bigoted men
Treading there finds stern resistance and stones to turn the foot
The clatter and crunch of brittle leaf acorns pop and skitter
A plenteous crop, beyond the appetite of wild things at forage
Leathery husks abound, pignut hickory the ebon stains of walnut
