DreamsAs I dreamDreams9 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
I want to wake
Someone haunts each and every one
I awake disappointed because he is no longer there
He is the one with whom I wish to be
Right now dreams are better than reality
But these pretty lies I conjure in my head
Will not last
They are but a fleeting wisp of smoke
The pain they cause in the morn
Makes me wish to keep sleep far from my eyes
But my body insists upon such things as rest
UntitledWhat kind of love has set me free and bound me at the same time?Untitled1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
The love of my one true Savior; because of this I chose to bind
His righteousness in my heart.
Fear has fled from me, and I feel powerful as a lion, but kind as a dove.
This fearlessness comes from my donning the armor of the Holy Spirit.
I know Jesus is with me as I charge into spiritual warfare.
The battle is never ending, but He provides the strength when I am weak.
My heart in prayer is my shield, and His word my sword.
The attacks will continue to grow, but I know in the Father's power I will not submit in this duel.
Many times I will waiver in my resolve, but His perfect love shall renew me once again.
This strength that dwells within me is not of this world.
I must continue on the path less trod.
It may be the straight and narrow, but it is not the easiest path.
It took so long to find; may I not stray even in the darkest of days.
This is the main road, and may I help my brethren and comrades in Jesus.
If it is You

I want to be with you
I know it will happen
There is no doubt in my mind
That time will come someday
I hope that day is soon
I want you to know
I love you so much
I pray for you everyday
I am at peace with knowing
That I will be in your arms again
And will one day never depart your company
A Shepherd Boy's NightIt was chilly outsideA Shepherd Boy's Night4 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
The sheep slumbered peacefully together
The other shepherds
Sat off to themselves
I was always by myself with the flock
As I was left to my thoughts
a Bright light appeared in front of my fellow shepherds
It was a terrifying sight
An angel of the Lord
I was tempted to run
But something kept me in place
Then the Angel spoke
"Do not be afraid; for behold,
I bring you good news of great joy
Which will be for all the people"
He described of my home city Bethlehem
Of how we would find a baby
Wrapped in cloths
And laid in a manager
Then a glorious sight
A Multitude of Heavenly Host appeared
Singing praises to God
I gawked in awe
When they had gone away
my fellows called to me
"Come Let us go
To see this thing
That has happened
Which the Lord has made known to us"
We found our way to the city
Every bit of it familiar to me
Then we found them
The mother sitting next to the manger
looking down at the infant she had birthed
I fell on my knees as
The others made kno

And wash the stained windows of my soul
It feels as if my heart is shattered
But his gentle, mighty hands hold me together
My heart out pours love for my Father
For in my weakness of each passing day
His everlasting strength
In me is perfected
Every day that passes
I caste another burden upon Him
For nothing is too much for my Lord
Not walking the path of the evil one
Has set my feet free
And my heart alight
My desires and passions
They burn with Your holy flame
My heart yearns for Your Word, Father
My desire is to be close to you
You take my hand
And I follow Your lead
For I know I shall not stumble
When You are with me
May my heart never stray
And I pray
That you will continuously wash me anew
Lord, I give myself to you
This I pray

When can I get off the hurtful ride
They threaten to eat me alive
Anger, fear, and desire
A few of the many that can rage inside
I turn away
There's only one place to go
Into loving arms
The arms of the son, Jesus Christ
The only one who can save me
The only one who knows me fully
And is there for me when others fail
Life isn't all sunshine and roses
But God sends storms to liven the garden of your soul

Sands and TideThe tide is pulling, pulling away,Sands and Tide4 months ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
I have no way to make it stay;
The sand is falling, falling through time,
I have no way to make it mine.
The gulls are flying, flying away
Chanting music day by day;
The waves are pounding, pounding on,
And so they shall when I have gone.
But here I am with a sky above,
A mind of dreams and a heart of love;
Forget the sand, forget the tide,
The water's vast and shoreline wide.
I'm scooping sea-foam, catching shells,
Wading depths to feel waves swell,
Building castles in the spray
And laughing when they're swept away.
Yes, taunt me, time, go right ahead!
Strive to buffet me with dread;
You know where I may be found:
Dancing 'til the sun goes down.

a whimsical, perfectionists' talent,
a means of escape by calling forth a voice strong enough to tell a story, to take the pain away.
I once knew a girl who could take a bag of jumbled, misshapen, imperfect words and bind and twist and morph them into something beautiful.
Who could take the tongue-ties syllables of words like "eccedentesiast" and "deterioration" and conduct with them a symphony of melodic sounds.
I once knew a girl who could right five measly little sentences, but in those sentences could conjure up a voice so mighty and powerful, so full of raw, realistic emotion that it could drain oceans and level countries.
I once knew a girl who was so unloving towards her own talent that she locked herself away in dark, empty rooms, pen in hand as she scribbled words across lines of yellowed paper, only to stop mid-stanza and rip the piece into confetti to rain down on the parade orchestrated by little demons.
