COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!Hi guys!! Thank you as always to all watchers and everyone who faves and comments - I'm so sorry I don't have much time these days to reply to everything, but I definitely do read and appreciate them all!COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I've been asked so many times I've lost count to put together a makeup tutorial on how I do my cos makeup - and I finally did it!
I hope this is a little helpful, although some disclaimers - I have Caucasian features, so my makeup will be very different to someone with a different face shape. I use a lot of eyemakeup, much more than a lot of people, just because I do lol. My eyes a pretty big naturally, so I line them right up the edge, as opposed to widening the eye by drawing further out. A few things like that to bear in mind ^_^ That said, hope you enjoy! *chu*
Any questions please feel free to ask!
Vocaloid JBF Flower Wreath + Ciel lenses, etc.Jin's Flower Wreath ProcessVocaloid JBF Flower Wreath + Ciel lenses, etc.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sometime last May, Kat moonlightflight and I cosplayed our favorite Vocaloid song, "Just Be Friends".
Their outfits seem simple at a glance, but that actually makes things more complicated sometimes. Hahah. Despite Luka's dress looking like something you could probably find in a mall, Charmie yaoiangel14 made the dress from scratch exactly as it looked in the artwork, just for Kat moonlightflight. Kat and I also did our best with the part of their outfits that had the most amount of detail (which also happens to be our favorite parts) the flower wreaths.
I have some pictures of the progress of my wreath, so I thought I'd share them. This probably isn't the best method of going about this, but this is how I did mine and I found it pretty easy. (I wish I could have taken more photos or a video, but to be honest I wasn't quite sure I'd pull this off at first. Hahah!)

Not everyone's Teiko uniforms are ready just yet, but we wanted to get a feel of things for the proper shoot so we did this for practice. It gave us a chance to try out our wigs and makeup and junk to see what we need to improve on for our actual cosplays.

Cosplay Photoshoot EtiquetteMy good friend hikaraseru has written a very good guide on how a standard cosplay photoshoot should be conducted in a conducive manner. I got her permission to post the entire article up, so hope you guys like what she is presenting to us.Cosplay Photoshoot Etiquette2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Want to plan a cosplay shoot, but somehow things just don't turn out right? Maybe the photos were not how you visualised them, or that the photographer seemed to be extra grumpy, or you just don't know what's going on? Read on for how to get the best out of your cosplay shoot:
The 4 Ps:
Having a plan is essential and should take up the most time overall in your shoot. Speak to the photographers closely, because they will be the ones producing the photos that will be the end result; make sure they are aware of the concept and background of the series you're shooting. Some photographers will want to do their own research prior to the shoot (reading the manga/watching the anime/looking up reference photos) - so make sur

I've become a big fan of appliqués in the past 5 years.
In this tutorial I want to show you what you can accomplish with this simple sewing technique.
Don't be surprised if I go through the steps quickly. In the lower tutorials everything has been described.

Thoughts on Cosplay FundingWe feel so horribly uneasy about the new "cosplay funding" trend. I want to state first: yes, of course everyone has the right to spend their hard earned money the way he/she wants. And some people want simply to support the cosplayers they appreciate, which I also can understand very well. But the more I see this trend expanding, the more uncomfortable I feel.Thoughts on Cosplay Funding7 months ago in Personal More Like This
You know, in our eyes, it really depends on a project. Raising a money for a cosplay calendar to help sick kids? Sure. Raising money to produce a calendar for cosplay lovers? Of course. Raising money for a high-quality documentary about cosplay which will represent this hobby really well? Nice.
But to us, this line also ends somewhere here. We think that you can ask for big sums of money to create something unique, but then again, you really should be able to create it. Otherwise it's not justified in our eyes. And then again, what is a big sum of money?
I get that if you want to print a calendar, it may be around 1000-150

Mesti Datang! The HobbyCon 2013 Experience!Earlier this year, my friends and I were invited to be overseas guests for HobbyCon in Sabah, Malaysia.Mesti Datang! The HobbyCon 2013 Experience!7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Time flew by very fast, and before we knew it...
Our first day was spent doing a lot of eating, thanks to our guide Alyssa I will justify it as us fueling up for an action-packed weekend! We tried nasi lemak for the first time (LOVED IT), had some shaved ice desserts after, then a big dinner of clay pot rice, stir-fry noodles with clams, really tasty chicken wings, etc. and THEN we still raided Pick N' Pay for our midnight snacks because we love convenience stores and we wanted to try things we don't have in Manila.
We planned our cosplays ahead with Team Kachang Puteh, the guests from Singapore. Our theme for the first day of HobbyCon was Shingeki no Kyojin!

And I wanted to reflect upon similarities betwen our situations.
I've gone through many things in my life, and talked about some of them, and not talked about others.
And I sometimes drop off the face of the earth.
But I look at everything you make.
I keep everything.
I have my folder on my computer of drawing made from my stock
and it makes me so happy when I'm feeling down.
And if you think your drawing isn't worthwhile because you're a beginner
It's the BEST. BECAUSE you are a beginner.
It makes me feel like I am helping young artists to get better.
I am inspiring new artists to challenge themselves.
I look at every drawing.
I keep every drawing.
Because it's a part of me and it's a part of you.
We have that connection now.
We've made our mark on the world, however small, together.
Fellow artists, I support you.

What a pityWe have seen and awed (and nosebleed) at a lot of very good cosplayers. The way they trim and style their wig to impossible anime level, the eye makeup that electrify you, the self tailored costume that fits their figure so well and their epic prop-making skills! You bet they have worked very hard and hone their skills over time. What a pity2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Soon almost every cosplayer will graduate and proceed on with their next phrase of life. It is so sad T_T but it was certainly one of the best time in their lives! These cosplay Senpai(s) would have amass a great deal of experience and have a lot of information and knowledge on the character their cosplay. All these be gone when they graduate.
残念ですね! What a pity!
I was just thinking..
Won't it be great if every generation of cosplayer could pass on their skills, knowledge and information to the next generation.
The entire cosplay community will get better and better and more people will take cosplay seriously.
What do you thi

Putting the 'Art' in Artisan :: CalabarteWhen it comes to the woodworking galleries, there is one artist I love to have a regular peek at: Calabarte's. These stunning creations are made from calabash, otherwise known as gourds. When the fruit dries out, it produces a wood-like substance without a grain, making it a perfect choice for many artistic endeavours. Calabarte uses this medium to create spectacular and intricate carvings that beg to be stared at.Putting the 'Art' in Artisan :: Calabarte3 months ago in Art Features More Like This
If the carvings aren't eye-catching enough in their own right, just have a loot at how they transform when lit. The gorgeous surfaces come alive with colour, highlighting every tiny detail. And if that's still not enough, look at the mesmerising way they transform the room around them. Here is just a small selection of the multi-dimensional beauties to be found in his gallery.
Icon Contest! And quick Youtube updateHey all!Icon Contest! And quick Youtube update3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I figure it would be cool to have a new icon. But I'm not very handy at Photoshop nor am I even remotely creative XD So I figured it would be pretty cool to have an icon contest 8D
The prize for the winner is a red DS Lite (pictured below... white cat not included XD)
I can sign it or something like that if people want, but I'm gonna leave that up to the winner cause I'm sure that many folks wouldn't want my signature staining their new DS XD
SO! Here're the rules:
1. One submission per person. Must be in 50 by 50 format for DA icon.
2. Please post submissions via DA (or photobucket) and private message them to me with a link included.
3. Deadline is December 1st. Winner will be announced December 1st!
4. Points for creativity! Artwork and images of my cosplay are accepted! 8D Also, moving icons (gifs) are accepted.
5. Any questions, just shoot me a message
Thank you to anyone who wants to participate in this! I look forward to see what people will make :3

I don't have any concrete convention plans at this stage, except that I will be cosing UtaPri to SMASH! with kaguyaxhime to sell our photobook!
Other than that, here are the cosplays I have planned for this year (at this stage, subject to innumerable changes no doubt XD)

How I cosplayed the cast of Free! sort-of-tutorialGroup cosplay, forever alone style! Yeah, that's all me.How I cosplayed the cast of Free! sort-of-tutorial1 year ago in Personal More Like This
In this post, I'll get into how I did each one!
Intro, and some bad old pictures
For those of you who have the patience to read for some extra info!
When I started cosplaying, I didn't think makeup was such a major part of it. I was so hesitant to even put eyeliner because I'd think, "This character is a guy, I shouldn't look like I'm wearing makeup!" And I guess I was silly enough to think I looked enough like the characters I chose without doing anything to my face?
I can't find more pictures of my really old cosplays (which is just as well, hahah) from the time I didn't want to use makeup apart from these:
I cosplayed as Haku from Naruto. I don't remember wearing any makeup for this. It doesn't show too well on these pictures but I saw some others where the natural redness of my lips made it look like I was wearing lipstick even if I wasn't. I felt it made me look more feminine than I should. Haku is still a guy after al

Con-Report: JapanWeekend Madrid (SPAIN) + pics!Hello everyone <3~~Con-Report: JapanWeekend Madrid (SPAIN) + pics!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm back from Madrid in Spain and have some photos and stories to share with you. Watch only the photos or read my crap as well haha XDDD it's all up to you <3.
First of all, it was CRAZILY COLD!!! OMG x.x....it was like 5°C, but the crazily ICY wind made it ways colder.
The day we arrived, we had a really lovely dinner together with our friends from WCS Team Spain 2012 (<3!!), KamuiCosplay and her husband and met some new Spanish friends <3. Thanks a lot to Alberto to organize this dinner *hugs*.
First convention day! I wore my new Archbishop costume from Ragnarok Online together with Elffi as Shura
(I'm still not confident with my costume ;O;, but I had much fun wearing it ^^).
We went to a photoshooting with our sweet photographer Taichia (https://www.facebook.com/TaichiaPhotography?fref=ts) who tried her best to take some pretty shots during a very gray and windy day >___

It's technically the same as Dropbox, but offers much more space at an initial 15gb of cloud space FREE.
So click this https://copy.com?r=veqtNG and it'll take you through my referral to the page.
Why through my referral?
Because when you sign up you get 15GB cloud space free.
But through a referrer's link, once you verify your email and then download & install either the Copy app or program, like dropbox, we both get additional 5GB on top of that.
Now, that's fun and most important more space for free!
Then after that you can introduce it to all your friends for similar results and you can rack up tons of 5GB per referral.
In case you missed the link, click this https://copy.com?r=veqtNG
Just to push up and let more people know about this!
By the way, I have quite a number of users who registered BUT have not install the app/program on their phone or computer, that means it's not a full process, and you won't get t
