She took slow, tentative steps through the darkness. There was dry, hard-packed dirt beneath her paws and a black void sky over her head. There was no sign of life anywhere... only scattered rocks and dead trees, which reached up like great jagged claws from the bleak landscape. She was searching... though she was not entirely sure what for. She recognized, however, the sense of urgency in the very air around her.
She seemed to walk forever. Or had she just started? In part she felt as though she’d been walking for only a few moments, yet she had a sense that she had been at it for far too long. Sometimes the path even seemed to repeat on itself. Was she lost? Where was the thing she was looking for? She had to find it! If she didn’t do… something… soon, all would be lost! And no matter how long or far she walked, she could never quite get there!

Hiccup rolled over and groaned. It was one of those days where he didn't want to do anything but sleep.
Hiccup stumbled out of bed, forcing himself into full consciousness, and after scraping together some fish for Toothless, headed down to the cove where the dragon insisted on sleeping, regardless of the fact that he could now sleep in Hiccup's house.
Often, he would wake up in the middle of the night, gasping for breath and clinging to the place his foot used to be, the phantom pains rippling up his legs and throughout his body, and constricting his ability to breathe. Sometimes it even got so bad that he would thrash on the ground and scream and cry until it passed. There were no limits to the time it took to be done with. He had to be careful. These 'episodes' usually happened when he was careful and ran, or did something stupid like jumping off Toothless' back. The phantom pains plagued him all t

Wheeljack had to resist the urge to barrel straight through the doctor when he was finally allowed into the room. That is, allowed in the room after Mrs. Darby, and Mr. and Mrs. Nakadai. It had been a little packed in the room, and when Mrs. Darby hurried off in a tizzy to prepare things at the house a little more, Mr. Nakadai briefly leaving for an important phone call, Jackson Anderson piled into the room with Raf, Mrs. Davis, and Arcee’s holoform.
Trying his hardest not to make things awkward with the lithe form of the black haired holoform behind him, Wheeljack had to grin when Mrs. Davis went swooping to the bed where a tired but positively glowing Miko was laying. “Ohh, let me see him, let me see—Ohh he’s simply precious Miko. The Bond of Two"Still asleep, huh?" Hiccup whispered while letting his fingers stroke and ligthly scratch Toothless' sleeping head. He had been planning for the two of them to take a field trip into the woods to gather some berries the village women used for ingredients in one of their delicious cookings, and since Hiccup and Toothless had been known to know the side of the island where they grew the most, they had asked for them to go and pick them. The Bond of Two5 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
"We hope it's not too much to ask." they had said, giving Hiccup a slightly sad look.
"You know, with that leg of yours..." they didn't finish the sentence, clearly worried if they had hurt him, but Hiccup didn't mind at all.
"It's alright! I have Toothless!" he said with a smile, before asking for how much they needed. Having recieved a basket big enough to require the carrier to use both hands, he had wondered off, excited about the thought that the place they were to pick the berries where nearby where he and Toothless had first met and eventually got
The Bond of Two - part twoToothless now found himself falling at high speed, 500 meters above the ocean floor, with an unconscious Hiccup straddled on his back. Toothless however, knew what he was doing. Spreading out his wings to their full length, he captured the wind and managed to slow down their speed somewhat. Shifting himself in the air, he made sure most of Hiccup's body laid firmly on his back, so he wouldn't end up slipping off. But now time was short. The Bond of Two - part two5 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
Toothless desperately scouted the area around him to see if there were any landing spots within reach. Even though he couldn't fly, he could still use the strong sea wind to glide on for at least a few minutes. Having trouble keeping his body in the correct position due to his injured tail, Toothless several times turned his head to check on Hiccup's position. Getting struck by powerful winds, Toothless growled loudly as he tried his best not letting it tip his body. Getting too occupied with keeping his balance and scouting for landing spots
Bagginshield: Moments Captured in Travel (Ch. III)Life on the road was always hard. The Dwarves of Thorin's Company had reconciled themselves to this fact over years of travel; even Gandalf has done a great deal of wandering in his day, and was accustomed to the frugal lifestyle that the wilderness demanded. However, the fourteenth member of the band was entirely unused to going without the small comfort. For Bilbo Baggins, the greatest challenge of this adventure was not the Orcs or the Wargs; it was not the landslides and storms and giant men of stone, each seemingly set on wreaking havoc on the group of travelers. No, for Bilbo, the true struggle was the travel itself. The domestic little Hobbit, used to living a simple and sedentary life, was having a difficult time adjusting to the rough and tumble of the Dwarf's wayfaring ways. Never before had he gone so long without the simple comfort of a cup of tea and a good book. He was appalled when informed that heated baths were a commodity he would have to forgo. Today, I spent a good many hours scouring the internet for tips on improving my writing. You know, useful and practical suggestions for someone who has actually written a bit and wants hints on some of the finer points of writing—you know, as opposed to just wanting to learn how to get publishers interested in the latest Hunger Games or Twilight knock-off. Well, other than the two masters of storytelling—Stan Lee and Stephen King—I found nothing. I thought to myself, “Blake, even you could offer better writing advice than this!” And so I have. Here are three non-subjective tips for the beginning writer.
Tip 1: Pay attention to “Point of View” (POV)
The first mistake I made in writing my novel, and one that I have seen in every single beginning writer's work that I have edited since, is that I did not really pay attention to POV and narration. When telling a story, it is important to rememb

When Hiccup awoke, it was still early. The sun was only just barely peeking up over the horizon, and the moon was fading away in the distance. It took him a minute to remember what had happened. Oh, that was it. He had messed up his prosthetic foot again, and Toothless had helped him. Then he had fallen asleep here. Hiccup yawned and stretched. It was nice and warm out, even though it was still early. Ha, his dad was probably still sleeping.
Hiccup bolted upright. His dad! He had stayed out all night! The scrawny brunette staggered to his feet and poked at Toothless viciously until the Night Fury woke up. Toothless purred and nudged Hiccup happily. "Not now, Toothless! We've got to get home!" Hiccup protested, straddling Toothless' back. Toothless grumbled a bit but took flight without too much complain

Flurry ended up coming in second. When we flew back down to the Island shore Hiccup had congratulated Flurry excitedly while I was busy staring down the two Speedy Deaths that were still watching me. I growled lowly before turning my attention to the next event that the Elder had announced. This one was for the Spiky Tails. The trees that the Sharp Wings cut down in their race were set up in a row and the Spiky Tails had to hit as many of the trees with one swipe from their tail. Since the spikes were the color of their tail, it was easier if only one dragon of each color was in the contest.
I figured that during this time, it would be a good chance to pull Hiccup aside and try to explain to him what was going on. As multiple dragons began to set up the trees, I grabbed Hiccup by his sleeve and pulled him over so we were slightly shielded by the Island. He looked at me curiously and noticed my anxious expre

I rounded the corner when I collided with something solid. I fell back onto the tough ground before I was yanked up by my arm. I already had discolored bruises on my arm so when I was yanked up, it really hurt.
Only one person would pull me up like that. Albus. How did he get here so fast? Did he know I was coming this way? He looked at me with deep anger in his, dark eyes. I tried to pry my wrist away from him but

It was official, Hiccup was stuck. Stuck in a tree. A really big, scary, tree.
It had started this early that evening. He and Toothless were having a fun time that day, playing together and causing mayhem to the nearby animals that lived in their little trench, as well as sort of splashing around in the water (Hiccup didn't want to get his clothes wet, so they basically had a lame splash fight at the edge of the lake and barely got any drops on each other).
Then they had simply sat around and Hiccup was enjoying the view of the wildlife and plants and scenery that encompassed there little area. Then he had noticed that the sun was getting down. Getting the urge to witness the probably-amazing sunset, he looked over at the big tree that crawled down the side of the trench.
Standing from his comfy spot right by the black dragon's belly, he trotted over to the large tree and began to climb it, figuring since it looked so big and thick, it'd be easy to find a nice s

Chapter 20: I'll Always Be There
Watching the ground bridge open with both eagerness and hope that nothing bad happened, Cole and Kira watched as Smokescreen, followed closely by Bumblebee trotted through slowly coming to a stop.
Hollering with giddy intent, Smokescreen held up the prize of the battle in his hand; the mystery relic that was the cause for the whole fight today. “WOOH! HA! Those ‘Cons never knew what hit ‘em!!”
Beeping in a simple agreement, Bumblebee nodded in approval.
Coming through the ground bridge, Arcee was quick and spoke harshly. “Ratchet, have your medical kit ready. Optimus was hurt pretty bad.”
“What?!” Lurching forward suddenly, Cole stared at Arcee unsure of what she had just said. “Dad was hurt?! How? Is he gonna be okay?!”
Looking at Bumblebee and Smokescreen, Ratchet spoke quickly. “Take the sparklings into the sparing room and keep them there until I call for you. “

Stoic called for his fallen son through the dust and smoke infested shore. The air smelled fresh of burned flesh and dead bodies. Rocks and rubble strewed everywhere in visible site.
Turning franticly, Stoic's eyes broke through the fog and laid on the body of the beast that called Night fury. Hesitating at first, Stoic then staggered and ran towards the fallen creature, the worst thoughts flowing through his mind. Now standing before the dragon, Stoic's eyes traced the broken saddle back and found the dragon's prosthetic tail was missing and its wire's bent. The dragon let out a depressed, pain filled moan before rolling onto its side, breathing heavily.
Collapsing to his knees, Stoic lowered his head, his eyes falling to the ground.
"Oh son I did this."
Behind the Viking, the others were now coming into sight. Eyes fell onto their leader and everyone feared the worst. Pushing through, Astrid and Gobber found their way to the front. Astrid

Axel just grinned at the boy. "Follow me." He waved a hand, and a Corridor sprang up, ready for use.
Roxas blinked at it, slightly apprehensive. That little gate to Darkness could literally go anywhere, and this was Axel "Where does it lead to?" he asked warily.

Ratchet chalked it up to the spark break. He was suffering a bit from panic attacks if she was gone from his sight for too long, and it soon became a rule of thumb for no mech to be alone with her. Smokescreen had been the first unfortunate mech to bear the brunt of Optimus’s jealousy. It was a dangerous thing, and Optimus had approached the younger mech as if he had provoked him.
Every time, it was as if his breath was stopping when he saw her with someone else. It made him crazy—she was relaxed with the others, but not him. She smiled for the others, not him. He wanted to hide her from the others in his embrace, to hide her from the others’ looks, as if they were wolves on the hunt. He was so ready to become violent just for her, and with agitated stare and cutting tension he asserted himself to the others. If they desired her, they would have to win against him first.

The high of being a hero slowly wore off for Hiccup, and it was only then when he began to wonder, again, why certain things were so.
He had tamed a Night Fury, earned the real respect of his father—the entire village in fact—and he found himself in the constant company of Astrid Hofferson.
Was it too much to say they were dating, or were they just friends? Certainly Astrid didn’t go around giving out kisses to every one-legged Viking that stumbled out of their house, but she hadn’t kissed him ever since, and he certainly wasn’t ready to do so either.
But one thing they did plenty of was talking. Or at least, they tried to.
It was one of those things Hiccup feared every day. That perhaps—once again—he had put Astrid on too high a pedestal and sooner or later he’d realize that their ‘relationship’ was only made up of mutual physical attraction. So he’d skip the kisses if it meant avoiding that fat

The light from the lantern did little to cast away the shadows of his mind. He was not at all sure how Tauriel would react, if he had made the right decision, or what Legolas intended to do once he saw her. Legolas had claimed he only wished to speak with her, and that he wished her no harm, yet Kíli couldn't help but feel the cold doubt gnaw at his mind.
They all walked in silence, the commander leading, with Kíli and Thorin right behind, Legolas following them, and with Fíli at the very end of the company. Fíli still felt he had no purpose in all of this, as he was little help to his brother in all of this. At least he could watch Legolas to make sure he did not

More than her laugh, Hiccup remembers the way his father would look at her. It wasn’t just what he had done. It was the fact that Nightflier didn’t know what his father was thinking. Sure, everyday Nightstalker made sure to talk to the alienated air commander, but it was mostly just stuff about Bumblebee, or when that became too stressing, stuff about Ratchet or Cliffjumper. Never about him. Never about himself. Never about her. It was like they had a silent truce on what things they could talk about, and the family wasn’t one. Her secrets were hers; his secrets were his; Nightflier’s oppression was his own.
It bothered him. Nightflier didn’t know what to do, but he knew he couldn’t forgive him. Could he? No, no he couldn’t. He knew what growing up hungry was like. Nearly starving into shutdown. Missing his parents. Crying—but no, he couldn’t cry, not when Nightstalker was and she looked to him for strength. He couldn’t cry, no, he had to bottle it up and pret
