The Textures Feature Vol. IIHi everyone! The Textures Feature Vol. II2 years ago in Personal More Like This
First of all, thank you for over 500 watchers! Can't really imagine that there's so many people who like what I do - but I am more than thankful for that. Also, thanks to the people who made donations in order to support my work here. When I opened that donation pool, I didn't think that there would be donations any time soon. But you surprised me and I don't really know how you thank you for that. Well, except saying thank you! It's a huge motivation for me to carry on with what I do. Now I hope this journal will be a small motivation for the artists featured here, too. Hope you will continue making amazing art!
Things to Remember When Writing a Novel!Right, so despite that being an author would be the coolest thing ever, I get so bored of writing, so instead of writing about something that would produce a novel, I wrote a checklist of things that might help me actually... write.Things to Remember When Writing a Novel!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
And I decided to share! So yay!
1) Don't give away characters!
People aren't that easy to read in person, and just because they are in a book doesn't mean they should be paper. Give away little information by little, not a first chapter of meet-the-main-person.
2) Describe what's important, and be vague on things that are plot fillers.
Describe how and less of why, but hardly any of where or who.
3) Have one or two running themes or jokes.

Look, I know you are struggling and I understand that moving on and stepping forward has been so hard for such a long time. I understand how difficult it can be to trust that not everything stays horrible and bad; that there's somehow a light out there amid the darkness. Trust me, believe me, I know.
For the most part you'll read this and be skeptical. How could anyone know what it's like but you? Surely this is just another one of those posters on the bus stop, another one of those cheap 'hang in there' slogans brought on to help stave off an ever growing population of graves, more and more of which hold occupants of their youth rather than of the ages.
But this is not that kind of message.
I've been there. I've seen what happens to people wh

Speedpaint Tip #2: Colors and LightWhen you approach the topic you intend to paint, whether painting from life or from whatever's stewing in your head, you always, always come to the table with preconceptions. For instance, think of the color of a leaf.Speedpaint Tip #2: Colors and Light5 years ago in Personal More Like This
Or is it? In a speedpainting, objects aren't out of context of their setting or light source(s), so lets consider where that leaf is before we determine its color. Say it's a leaf at midnight under a full moon. What color will it be then?
Well, technically this is where it gets complicated!
1) When considering what the color of an object should be in a scene, start by figuring out what color it would be under plain white light.
-In the case of our leaf, lets say it would be green. Standard, out-of-the-tube green.
-Remember, light is additive. White light is ALL colors of light. When white light hits our green leaf, we see green, because only the colors of our leaf get reflected back out for our eyes to see. The red light gets absorbed rather than refl

About male anatomy...It's been A TON OF TIMES that I get the same question:About male anatomy...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
"How do you draw male anatomy? Could you give me some tips?"
I will be honest: I don't know!! I can tell the way it all started though.
My sister's a doctor, and she bought Sobotta anatomy atlas, drawn by AWESOME doctors and artists. The edition she bought has got two HUGE books full of medical illustrations of bones and muscles, very detailed veins, tendoms, with sections, skinned corpses, etc. I got totally fascinated and I started to study myself but I was not good enough to draw all those things I learnt.
Then, I had one year of anatomy classes at my art studies in the University. My teacher was just BRILLIANT. He really loves human bodies and he gave us the best tips possible (and he likes manga/anime!!). We visited real life corpses so I could understand better how muscle insertions and tendoms worked. Then, the teacher asked us to draw like... 200 works in 9 months. It was CRAZY and I hated him too much. B

Need faces? We've already had "Need references?" and "Need textures?", time for something else. This actually is about references again, but about these more specified ones. Emotions. How many times have you wondered why is that the faces you draw look as empty as dead? Depicting moods can be a very hard task. Try sketching yourself (yes, a mirror would be a nice thing to have in this case), pull faces at diffrent angles, change light. And take a look at these below. Should You Become a Professional Artist?Community WeekShould You Become a Professional Artist?8 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Do you enjoy art passionately and are considering doing it as your job, but have some worries such as;
Will I enjoy it as much as a job?
Will it be hard getting a job?
Will I become a starving artist?
If you're like me, you're asking yourself those questions and are letting them give you a hard time deciding whether or not to pursue art professionally. My health teacher told me, as we digressed from our topic of smoking, that to know whether or not you want to do a job, you have to hear what it's like from someone who's already doing it. That's why I decided to do an interview with professional artists on dA to give me, and hopefully many others, answers to these burning questions and an idea of what it's like to be a professional artist.
Okay, well let's get to it then
This is quite long so if you'd like to jump to a section, here are the questions I aske
