A very quick parody that I just had to get out quick before I lost it. It pretty much speaks for itself: a combination of Charlie's Angels from the 70's with the girls from the Peanuts gang (Lucy, Sally, and Peppermint Patty).
"Charlie's Super Angels" "Once upon a time, there were three little girls who went to the Justice League... " Here's my latest commission, a DC Comics/ "Charlie's Angel's mash-up – with Diana Prince, Zatanna Zatara and Dinah Lance as the latest Townsend Agency detectives. Say it all together girls, "Hi, Charlie!"
This is inspired by the Elementary episode "The Diabolical Kind" and that Lucy Liu is an artist in real life. It's really weird when attempting caricatures, how the character may look like who you are aiming for one minute and the next minute they do not look right at all. It's very confusing. I hope I settled on "good enough".
2014-07-26 00:17 Added fingers holding on to artist pallet. 2015-02-16 18:17 Always was unhappy about getting Lucy Liu's likeness. Trying again. Did some mods to her lips, nostrils and eyes. Seems like making her mouth smaller helped. I also did some small mods Moriarty too(reduced exaggeration on cheeks).
Read an article the other day confirming that there were talks in place to create a female version of The Expendabes, so i decided to create some posters using the actresses i'd like to see involved.
Started to lose motivation in the middle of this one (mostly due to a lack of good stock photos), and decided to just throw the rest together quickly to get it done. Hence the dodgey shadows, and lazy typography.
Below is the justification for each actress i chose-
Sigourney Weaver She is arguably the most iconic female heroine in film history.
Milla Jovovich Although i'm not a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, Milla has proved herself to be an accomplished action heroine through her many appearances in the films.
Lucy Liu Although born in America, Lucy's parents are of Chinese descent and therefore she seemed like a good alternative to the Jet Li character of the original film.
Uma Thurman Her leading part in the Kill Bill films proved Uma is more than capable of dishing out the damage when she needs to.
Michelle Rodriguez She is the go-to girl when Hollywood needs a strong willed, badass female character, a perfect fit for The Expendabelles.
Gina Carano Former Gladiator and MMA fighter, Gina has the perfect balance of beauty and brawn. She's the only woman on the list who's proven to look just as beautiful after 3 rounds of cage fighting!
Lucy Lawless Lucy made herself a household name in the mid-ninties playing the warrior princess named Xena. This popularity should make her a welcome addition to the cast.
Carrie-Anne Moss The Matrix trilogy showcased Carrie-Anne's action credentials, proving she would be great addition to the team.
Angelina Jolie Angelina has made name for herself as a strong, tough woman through roles in films such as Tomb Raider, Wanted and Salt. This coupled with her international, star appeal makes her one of the easier choices.
