He supposes it's curiosity that has led him here, to the Edge City library's dusty aisles and darker hallways. He's fairly certain this is where the old woman at the front desk directed him to, assuring him he would find what he was looking for, documentation and books on old Norse mythology, here. But these halls seem deserted, and he has a sick feeling, if the flickering lights and cobwebs are any indication, that not many people venture this far into the library. In fact, he is pretty sure he isn't even supposed to be here. All in all, this will likely turn out to be just another fine mess that zoot-suited trouble-maker will have gotten him into which is a feat, Stanley will admit, considering the Mask has had no real influence on the situation at hand; this is all Stanley and his sheer and sudden urge to understand his alter-ego a little bit better.
At the sound of footsteps, slow and cautious behind him, Stanley wastes no time in ducking into the n

"Yeah, pretty much," I answer. "Why a plant wants a mask of all things, I don't know."
"So do we know who this guy is?" Will questions. "Or what this mask does?"
"I have no idea about the mask itself but the guy we're looking for goes by the name of Stanley Ipkiss. But…"
"What is it?"
"Audrey Two left a vague little hint. He said 'If you can't find Ipkiss before nightfall, go for the guy with the green face and just bring him back.' "
"The guy with the green face?" Spike repeats. "Wow, he must be always sick."
We're just approaching the tunnel that leads into Toon Town. It's dark and Wes has to switch on his headlights. But not for long…suddenly, the pair of deep red theatre curtains at the end of the tunnel open to a bright burst of light, colour and sun. All around us, everything, and I mean everything
How to Really Write Mask StoriesI suppose the very first thing I should cover here is the difference between writing the plot and writing the story. Despite having similar names those two words mean different things, the plot is the sequence of events in chronological order, while the story is quite literally how the story is told. How to Really Write Mask Stories4 years ago in Stories & Vignettes More Like This
For example if you want to explain the plot of Final Fantasy VII, you should really go Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII-Final Fantasy VII-Advent Children-Dirge of Cerberus. Whereas as we know the way the story's told is VII-Advent Children-Dirge of Cerberus-Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII.
The point is, there's this thing I like to call "Writing the plot as opposed to writing the story" basically what it means is...Actually it's easier just to show you an example, so here is how writing the plot looks:
And then Makoto said "I love you" and kissed Shiro on the lips, before both fell to the ground and made out.
See the scene above has no depth to it, there's nothing to really pull you in
BEETLEJUICE (Fan Fic) Chapter 1: The NeitherworldBEETLEJUICE (Fan Fic) Chapter 1: The Neitherworld3 years ago in Humor More Like This
There is a place between the realms of Heaven and Hell, where spirits with unfinished business roam freely. Some call it either Purgatory or the Netherworld, but what's known to the souls there is actually called the "Neitherworld." Why? We'll explain this a little later. Our story begins on a central part of the Neitherworld, in a city of dark and twisted buildings. Although the sun was rising, on this eerie landscape, it was still rather gloomy looking. As we draw deeper into the city, we see that its inhabitants are not only ghosts and ghouls, but there were also monsters of all shapes and all sizes. One for example is a burned out smoker sitting on a bus stop bench, next to an overweight spook with a chicken bone stuck in his throat.
"Want a cigarette?," the smoker offered a spare from his box. "Oh, no thank you," replied the fat one in a rather choky voice. "Trying to

As time went on, Beetlejuice decided to keep his head at a normal size. Of course, he hadn't left the room, so he stayed there for days, weeks, months, and possibly years. This bored him so much, that he fell asleep on the couch he was sitting on. Then a fly came buzzing in, and even in his sleep, the ghost caught it with his tongue like how a lizard or frog does it. This right, this ghoul really has a taste for bugs. Could be where he got the name "Beetle."
"NUMBER 9,998,383,750,000!" shouted the voice of a much older woman.
Beetlejuice sprung himself awake from the sound of it! In fact, it made him jump so high, he squished his head flat on the ceiling! He then landed on his bottom and inflated his face back to it's original state by puffing on his thumb.
The next minuet, the ghoul saw that the first receptionist had been replaced with another, who was a hideous blue octopus-like creature with big pink glasses, and red hair wrapped around in a beehive.
He look both ways and said,
Don't Starve: Wilson's LamentA mortified, disheveled Wilson P. Higgsbury burst through the berry bushes, in a clearing in the forest glen. His hair and clothes were sprinkled with twigs and leaves, and his fine suit was torn where his body had been scratched, but still, at least he was alive. As Wilson stood there, gasping for breath, he listened as the sound of the roaring Hounds faded out into a mixture of angry Tallbirds chirping by the rock fields, pecking away at the beasts’ furry hides. They probably found a defenseless egg more appetizing and easier to catch than human scientist armed with an axe. With a sigh of both relief and exhaustion, Wilson trudged to an open flower field, about two hundred feet away from the unwelcoming pig village, which shut him out of their wooden huts the minute the sun hit the horizon.Don't Starve: Wilson's Lament3 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

RH: A Surprise PartyJacki was not having a good day at school. The Mask was absent for unknown reasons and they were supervised by a boring teacher who made her and the class write an essay on the theory of dance in Dancing with Style 101; she and her class had then been forced into doing a two-hour long pop quiz in Haunting, Possessions and Spiritual Channelling (long enough for Betelgeuse to stalk Emily, no doubt, Jacki thought) and she had had her lunch stolen by that no good Spike the Klown! But on her birthday? That was not cool! The mood was festive in the headquarters of the Crimson Society. Every member of the group had gathered to celebrate the anniversary of their victory over their first true enemies: the Azure Initiative. The Crimson Councilmen had organized a massive party to commemorate the bonds formed between those they called allies, friends…and perhaps, even family.
Everyone had gathered in the lounge, sitting about the fire pit, as snow fell past the window. On one side of the pit, a black and white raccoon-man leaned back in his chair with a satisfied yawn.
“Hard to imagine that we’d come this far in a year, huh?” The raccoon’s confident smirk reeked of cockiness, but the others knew that he could easily back up his words with his strength in battle. In fact, they all could - although the Society promoted peace and harmony, its members were more than capable in a fight.
“I’ll say. The Initiative put up a crazy fight; a lot of us nearly died more

Naruto took the time to bask in the cool air as he went walking through the village. He was on his way to the *Late Night Leaf* for some fun and enjoyment. It had been at least four weeks since he even had any fun at all. However, he was about to be in for a bigger surprise than he expected. By the time he arrived at the club, he stopped for a minute to observe the place from the outside, noticing the large red neon sign that was hanging above it. On the front of the entrance was a sign which depicted the age limit he had anticipated, *15 and older allowed*.
"I have no idea what this place might be like, but I'll have to see the inside for myself." said Naruto.
On the other hand, Saku poked her head out from behind the corner to glance at Naruto, whom she had been following the entire time. She licked her lips and smiled as she watched the unsuspecting shinobi.
"It's time to make my move." she said before proceeding to speed straight towards him. But just as she was closing i

"You can remember her." He looked up at her, puzzled. "That first day in the greenhouse, remember? You saw her

Ever since the three mask incidents that occurred so many weeks ago, Naruto has been feeling troubled and paranoid, as during all three incidents he was almost always a victim. All he simply wanted was to act like it never happened, but deep down he knew that was impossible.

The rest of the council winced at this, before someone else steps forward - her voice was distinctly feminine, but her form was concealed by numerous towels and robes as she inched as close to the fireplace as she dared.

Whipstaff manor was always a grand and unusual sight, but Gretchen couldn't help but fall in love with it all over again as it was covered in snow. As much as she hated the cold, it was worth braving just to see how beautiful the house was in the early morning of November, the snow falling around it. She wore several thick layers to combat the temperature, and the Trio had wasted no time in teasing her about looking like a chubby penguin. Determined not to waste the day with sitting indoors, she started walking around the other side of the house, not really going in a particular direction. Her footsteps made satisfying crunch noises in the snow, and somewhere in the trees she heard a bird's song. She marveled at how gorgeous it was, barely paying attention to where she was going, so it was to nobody's surprise but her own when she tripped over something very hard and fell to her knees, spared any pain by the two pairs of pants she wore.

Sunlight poured into the Whipstaff greenhouse, lovingly caressing the dozens of plants that grew there. It could almost convince you that it wasn't November outside, cold and unpleasant. The door creaked on its ancient hinges as Stinkie floated in, looking somewhat depressed. The sunlight rendered him nearly invisible, and he rather preferred it that way. He made his way over to the table and chairs that Gretchen had set up in the center of the room, sat in one, and gazed around the room, looking at nothing. He rested his head on his left hand and traced absentminded circles on the table, his mouth moving soundlessly. He jerked his head around as the door creaked again, louder.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't know you were in here," Gretchen said, just as startled as he was. "Want me to go?" He shrugged and she joined him at the table, setting down her sketchbook. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine," he said, unconvincingly. She looked at him knowingly, an
