How to get attention on deviantArtThis is probably the one question that every artist on deviantArt asks: how can I be popular? How can I make the front page? How to get attention on deviantArt4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
There are many different answers to this. I've given examples of my photos along with each point to explain.
-Be Dedicated. In order to be popular, you need to have a dedication to photography, drawing, writing, etc. Writing is exceptionally difficult to make the front page with, because many people are on here just for photography and fan art, not writings. For photography, you need to upload a lot and ask a lot of questions. Just give it a shot. It's okay to mimic your favorite artists, just not too thoroughly. Mimicking helps you see how to get better, and what makes a good photo. You can also think about sending notes to your favorite photographers. Trust me, when I first did, I was extremely intimidated, and thought they wouldn't have enough time to answer me. But most people on here are immensely understanding and nice to your situation, becau

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through dA,
Not a troll was stirring, nor Grinch in his sleigh.
Deviations were hung in digital Galleries with care,
In hopes that +Favourites soon would be there.
The n00bs were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Daily Deviations danced in their heads.
And Fella in his 'kerchief, and spyed with his night-light,
Had just settled down to log-off for the night,
When over in the Forums there arose such a clatter,
Fella sprang back online to see what was the matter.
To the browser window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the tabs and refreshed the cache.
When what to his art-loving eyes should appear,
But an animated sleigh and eight commissioned reindeer,
With a little old driver, so creative and slick,
Fella knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than broadband, his reindeer were famed,
After all his favorite art

I believe in deviantART. Which is to more accurately say I believe in the concept and the reality of the deviantART community.
When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.

Urban Shield aims to improve "regional disaster response capabilities" -- and criminalize public assembly
BY ANNA FEIGENBAUM
Between October 25 and 28 a major urban security training event and trade expo will invade Alameda County, Calif. Urban Shield, now in its seventh year, is a marketplace of repressive ideas and technologies.
The mood on the expo floor is largely convivial and friendly, with stalls staffed by as many bored salespeople as over-enthusiastic product pushers. Alongside fearsome military technologies are everyday objects like flashlights, mobile phones and bicycles. These signs of ordinariness stand as reminders of how normal the militarization of society has come to seem.
The stated goal of Urban Shield is to improve "regional disaster response capabilities," but rat

Well, let's go back into MY childhood, as these reactionary puppets would think I've done.
-When I was three years old, I distinctly remember hearing about the core of the Earth being hot, and commenting, "So that's where Hell is?"
Yes, I was raised Seventh-Day Adventist. I became an atheist over time, and the initial exposure to atheism came from my father, when I was nine.
-I also distinctly remember thinking that Heaven in the clouds, too high for humans to find.
When I was nine, I took a flight from my island to Ft. St. John. And that showed me the upside of the clouds. I didn't see angels and shit there!
-I also remember distinctly saying that dictatorship would be a good option compared with the current system when I was ten. I REMEMBER BEING A FAR-RIGHTIST. What was my rationale for
Mao Zedong's Combat LiberalismWe stand for active ideological struggle because it is the weapon for ensuring unity within the Party and the revolutionary organizations in the interest of our fight. Every Communist and revolutionary should take up this weapon.Mao Zedong's Combat Liberalism2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But liberalism rejects ideological struggle and stands for unprincipled peace, thus giving rise to a decadent, Philistine attitude and bringing about political degeneration in certain units and individuals in the Party and the revolutionary organizations.
Liberalism manifests itself in various ways.
To let things slide for the sake of peace and friendship when a person has clearly gone wrong, and refrain from principled argument because he is an old acquaintance, a fellow townsman, a schoolmate, a close friend, a loved one, an old colleague or old subordinate. Or to touch on the matter lightly instead of going into it thoroughly, so as to keep on good terms. The result is that both the organization and the individual are harmed. This is one type of liberalism.

I want to congratulate all people with this great day!!!
I wish a bright sky above all of us! Piece to all of us! And I wish we'll never know how horrible the war is...
We remember. We're proud of it.
* * *
And now I'd like to tell about a Great Patriotic War hero of my family! His name is Eremeev Leonid Danilovich, he's my grandpa. I'm very proud of him.
He was born in 1916 in Kazan Governorate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazan_Governorate). Graduated from Kazan Agricultural Institute. In 1943 became a commander of mortar troop, was a Guard's senior leutenant.
In 1945, going to Berlin, he was wounded on German-Poland boundary and evacuated behind the front line, when Victory Day was in two weeks.
After the war he worked by his occupation. He was a chief of our kolkhoz. He died in 1979 because of illnesses after his wound. ): What a pity I've never seen him... ): But

Why has communism never worked?I've run into this as an argument rather frequently on DA, and online in general. "Communism has never worked, and therefore can never work." I ask them to prove the claim, and they give the Soviet Union as the primary example, although some do give North Korea, China, or Cambodia as examples. Why has communism never worked?3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Before I get into specific reasons as to why "communism never works", I would like to clarify a few things.
-Communism =/= Totalitarianism
-Communism =/= Soviet Union
-Communism =/= Stalin
There are two reasons in particular that explain why communism has "never worked" which I have deduced and would like to bring up.
1) Firstly, communism has only existed as an ideology since the 19th century, and has only been attempted a handful of times since then. Capitalism, or at least some form of free-market system has existed for thousands of years in hundreds of different civilizations like:

This page is not my original work, but amended as a companion note to my original work, with a few choice passages added to give the reader a chance to glean my perspective over the original author who gave a grand attempt to be unbiased but failed to sight the believers assertions as made by the greater majority of those ascribed to the beliefs. I added those missing portions but must sight the historical knowledge and most of the penmanship are not my own, as I would not like to see my own words taken and used as someone else's, nor would I desire a charge of plagiarism, for a simple reuse of critical commentary, thus, you are all advised to read it as a quote by me with added input and not my original words.
Christian communism is a form of religious communism based on Christianity. It is a theological and p

Now, what does this signify? That it's not what the art is about, does it follow the dA guidelines or not - you just have to rally people under the banner of a popular "deviant", and amass as many abuse reports as possible. Then any action would be applied as long as it satisfies the "customer".
This is proven by the following. I got two automatic replies from the Devart, each containing a DIFFERENT reason for the removal of the artwork.
"Your deviation Shit-dynamics And The World was reported for Problem Content. The report was reviewed by a member of the Staff and action was taken, deleting the deviation and marking the report as Resolved.
Additionally, the following comment was provided:

Science and Religion? One of the greatest philosophical conflicts in our day and age, and perhaps one of the most unreasonable, is the conflict between religion and science. It seems to the underlying theme behind every argument.Science and Religion?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But do they truly conflict? Are science and religion truly at odds with each other?
The following is from Jackson Spielvogel's account on the theology of William of Occam:
"Occam posited a [new] interpretation of nominalism. He asserted that all universals or general concepts were simply names and that only individual objects perceived by the senses were real. Although the mind was capable of perceiving individuals objects, it could not establish any truths about the nature of external, higher reality. Reason could not be used to substantiate spiritual truths. It could not, for example, prove the statement, "God exists." For William of Occam as a Christian believer, this did not mean that God did not exist, however. It simply indicated that truths about religion could only be known
Traditional Tuesdays #49 Holy shit! This is the forty-ninth week of this little article, and I can honestly say that I didn't think it would last this long. The night I started this feature, I was bored and just browsing around the Traditional Gallery. I was finding all kinds great artwork, that for one reason or another I couldn't/wouldn't give a DD. It could be because they had a DD recently, but mainly it was for a link to go back and see what they created next, and if they took it to the next level. Now it's more for artwork that I no longer have time to DD, I can't DD everything! I still find the article fun to do, and I'll keep doing it until it no longer is. So.... here is fifteen works of art that I thought you should see. I don't trust all of you all with anymore awesomeness, you might hurt yourself! Anyway, on with the show!Traditional Tuesdays #491 year ago in Art Features More Like This

Are Feminists Really This Stupid?Feminists tend to say a lot of stupid things, but recently, on Tumblr, I stumbled across what has to be the stupidest thing ever uttered by a feminist, to the point where I'm wondering if it's satire:I HATE AMERICA WHY DOES OUR GOVERNMENT SUCK SO MUCHAre Feminists Really This Stupid?5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Ok I don't understand why girls have to pay for tampons, pads, birth control, bras, other feminine products, etc. I DIDNT CHOOSE TO BE A WOMAN SO WHY SHOULD I SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY ON BEING FEMALE. The government should honestly pay for that shit it's not my fault I bleed from my vagina once a month.Gee, I don't know, honey. Perhaps it's the same reason why I, as a man, have to pay for masculine products such as boxer briefs, aftershave, cologne, jockstraps, condoms, etc.
Apparently having to pay for everyday toiletries myself means the government is punishing me for being human. Does that mean the government is punishing me for being a man? I guess not, since, being a
