Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 62 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu

Justice League: The Flashpoint ParadoxOver the last few months I have been getting a lot of questions here on DA about what my next project would be and when it might be announced and released. Also, I am thrilled to say, that a lot of you awesome friends and fans have expressed the idea that following Young Justice, you would like to see more DC animation work from me. Well I am happy to reveal that the next project featuring my design work is the recently announced Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, directed by the super talented Jay Oliva, and it will hit the streets on July 30th. I did the designs for this film last spring and summer (after production wrapped on YJ: Invasion) and we just finished post production on the project last month. I gotta say that thanks to all the tremendous talent involved in making this thing, it's looking pretty epic. I personally pushed my style into a slightly more exaggerated look for much of this film and I hope those of you who dug the look of Young Justice will get a kick out ofJustice League: The Flashpoint Paradox1 year ago in Personal More Like This

A Shooting in AuroraLate last night, a lone gunman went on a killing spree in a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado.A Shooting in Aurora2 years ago in Personal More Like This
At least 12 people were murdered, and many more were wounded; some of them are in critical condition.
If you are a spiritual person, please say a prayer for the dead, the dying, and those living touched by this tragedy.
If you are not a spiritual person, any happy thoughts or kind gestures would surely be appreciated.
Please refrain from any speculation, politicization, rumor-mongering, conclusion-jumping, finger-pointing, and other similarly inappropriate behavior for just a little while, if possible. It hasn't even been 12 hours since the tragedy took place, and that sort of unproductive demagoguery is already being handled nicely by the 24-hour news venues.
Real tragedies like this happen, all over the world, and our responsibility to our fellow man is to render aid & support, be it large or small, in times of crisis.

Jeez, my first thousand watchers, that's really something!
I'd make this all fancy but I'm really pressed for time. I still wanna show my appreciation, though! So this is the most simplistic thing I can think of.
Favorite this journal for a chance at a random selection!
One person will get a free half-body drawing and 1000 points.
Another person will get a free chibi and 500 points.
If you fave this journal and comment what your favorite illustration of mine is, your username will be generated twice in the list. No more than two go's per person, though.
I'll have the winners selected on June 30th.
Keep it real, scouts!
UPDATE: I've sent messages to the usernames that were raffled. Waiting for responses!
UPDATE #2: I got a response for second place, but the person who won first isn't responding. Re-raffling for a new grand-prize winner!

If you GET a distribution deal, you'll be in the long shadow cast by the big companies, buried in a dark corner of a vast monthly catalogue.
If you have no marketing budget, then your only option is to hit message boards, FaceBook, indie-driven comic sites, and by getting hold of a list of the internet comics news sites – they're easy enough to find, you just have to Google them.
If you have created your own book, and your dream is to see it printed, but you have literally no funds and nobody is willing to publish it, there are other great options, such as http://www.lulu.com/blog/tag/print-on-demand/. Here you can upload your entire book having placed it into one of the templates they provide, and you can then order a printed, bound copy direct from them for the price you set for it. Print on demand is an incredible innovation, and like Amazon, they will list your book for anybody to buy, they'll eve
I really hate dealing with trolls like thisI really do. It may not seem like it, but I have to go out of my way to cut through a bunch of bullshit and a large amount of the time that really isn't needed. But... you know, sometimes, people want attention from me and they won't shut up about it. It'll just end up wasting more of my time if I don't nip this in the bud. Especially if they threaten to sue you. This is new. I mean, I've had trolls threaten to kill me, but never threaten to sue me.I really hate dealing with trolls like this2 weeks ago in Personal More Like This

BILL SIENKIEWICZ - LEGENDIt was around 1983, and I was at school in Eastbourne a very traditional private school in England that wasn't dissimilar to Hogwarts. I was there on an art scholarship, and I was growing out of comics well, 'super-hero' comics. By then I was into the delectable adult comics coming out of Europe and the American underground, and published in Heavy Metal magazine. The capes were for kids back then but that was all about to change.BILL SIENKIEWICZ - LEGEND1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Daxiong is often asked how he approaches his artwork. Some of his pieces become extremely complex, so we asked him to give us a step-by-step tutorial.
The piece he chose was one he did for an exhibit of the French comics MuoWang. This piece is now on display and being used as a reference in the library of L. Senghor a secondary school in Corbeil-Essonnes, France:
Daxiong: This drawing was the "longest" one in my life, with the draft starting in Hangzhou China, and the finished work in New York. It crossed the whole Pacific Ocean and North America. This piece took me a week with the art editor calling me on the long trip to tell me to hurry up. I had little money with me nor time. but I just wanted to begin the journey to the US, mayb
on stylesimma keep this one simple....on styles2 years ago in Personal More Like This
style is just how the artist feels like treating his or her world at any given time!
it is influenced by the styles of other artists the artist admires
it is an amalgamation of influences mixed with personal sensibility....
it is perpetually changing and evolving
and it is not a trademarked property
see, i personally am a mix of influences from michael turner , adam hughes, marc silvestri, alex ross a few concept artist, and my design is greatly influenced by stan winston studio
my cartoonyer style is influenced greatly by disney and don bluth with a dash of manga and a healthy dose of j scott campbell who can probably tell you a similar story about the origins of his own style
its the nature of humanity people.
we stand on each others shoulders striving for greatness. so too will i influence quite a few artists who will adapt my own approaches into their workflow.
also.... i'm batman!
just to see who is still reading XD
Points for Critiques!Hey guys! for those who don't know, I've been learning to paint for 4 months now. I'm giving away points to people who critique my work. Each new deviation of mine will be open for critiques in its comments section, and there will be 3 prizes totalling 140 points per painting:
First Critique - 20
Best Critique - 100 Random Critique or Comment - 20
The 'First Critique' prize goes to the first critique, unless it's really short (i.e. less than 100 words, say). All 3 prizes will be sent and announced in the comments section of the deviation roughly 1 week after the deviation's submission date - and then the contest will close for that deviation. The 'Random Critique' prize can be won by anyone (even if you gave a very short critique or just a helpful comm

i used to work as a night guard on the beach. every single night from 8 pm to s6 am. after that i would go meet up with my dad who gouarded another beach to get a cup of coffee. we had a bite to eat, and then both went to haul and sell fruits and vegetables.
