At least 12 people were murdered, and many more were wounded; some of them are in critical condition.
If you are a spiritual person, please say a prayer for the dead, the dying, and those living touched by this tragedy.
If you are not a spiritual person, any happy thoughts or kind gestures would surely be appreciated.
Please refrain from any speculation, politicization, rumor-mongering, conclusion-jumping, finger-pointing, and other similarly inappropriate behavior for just a little while, if possible. It hasn't even been 12 hours since the tragedy took place, and that sort of unproductive demagoguery is already being handled nicely by the 24-hour news venues.
Real tragedies like this happen, all over the world, and our responsibility to our fellow man is to render aid & support, be it large or small, in times of crisis.

COSPLAY FRIDAY: The Original Superhero Team
The next couple of years promises to be full of comic book superheroes no matter where your allegiance falls in the DC/Marvel divide.
Following in The Avengers’ big screen footsteps, the Justice League of America (JLA) is finally getting its own live-action movie, even though the Justice League came along way before The Avengers were even born. A quick stroll down comic book lane reveals how the JLA got

As apparent from my absence in the last few issues of Supergirl I am no longer the series artist on the book. I will no longer be drawing the book and #20 was my final issue. I will however remain the cover artist on the book for just a few more issues.
What kept me from drawing the book initially was some health issues after which I had to rest for a bit. In the meantime I was offered some other projects which I took into consideration. Offers that ultimately had me make some important decisions. Unfortunately one of these decisions was to resign from art duties on Supergirl. Believe me, It was not an easy decision but one I had to make for the sake of several things in my career and life.
Over the past couple of years I've had an amazing time defining Supergirl for the New 52 with my collaborators in DC Entertainment. It was an honour to be a part of this bold new direction for DC. I was probably among the lucky few who had a wonderful
Justice League: The Flashpoint ParadoxOver the last few months I have been getting a lot of questions here on DA about what my next project would be and when it might be announced and released. Also, I am thrilled to say, that a lot of you awesome friends and fans have expressed the idea that following Young Justice, you would like to see more DC animation work from me. Well I am happy to reveal that the next project featuring my design work is the recently announced Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, directed by the super talented Jay Oliva, and it will hit the streets on July 30th. I did the designs for this film last spring and summer (after production wrapped on YJ: Invasion) and we just finished post production on the project last month. I gotta say that thanks to all the tremendous talent involved in making this thing, it's looking pretty epic. I personally pushed my style into a slightly more exaggerated look for much of this film and I hope those of you who dug the look of Young Justice will get a kick out ofJustice League: The Flashpoint Paradox2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Have you guys... ever had that people who tell you that your art looks ugly? Sucky? or.. it did not look like art at all? :iconerunotamusedplz:
Well, I am pretty sure there is at least a few experience on this one. Of course I did have my own experience too. It can get really depressing and if you are even depressed, at some circumstances, it can even make you stop drawing.
This is just a few of my own opinion.
Do not ever tell an artist that their drawing is bad. You can critique but do not give such a harsh critique that can make an artist hope shatter. Shatter to the point of no going back.
If you have friends, relative, teacher who tells you your art is bad, don't quit. Keep practicing and be better. Be someone so great that even their words can't harm you anymore. They can talk all they want but can they draw like yo

Female privilege is not women being "allowed" to fake a headache to avoid sex.
Sexism is not any woman who treats you badly.
The friendzone is not a pit in Hell that you get sent to when your crush doesn't like you back.
Feminism is not a radical group of man-hating lesbians who want to exterminate the male gender.
Oppression is denying somebody a basic human right because of gender/race/sexuality/etc.
Male privilege is feeling so entitled to sex that you can't accept a fucking NO for an answer.
Sexism is believing that men or women are somehow a lesser species.
The friendzone is a fictionalized space that boys created, because they don't realize a girl actually doesn't have to like you just because you're nice to her.
Men's Rights Activists are men who are so bad at being likeable that they need the force field of "oppression b

A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu

Yes, folks, congratulations are in order. For years the comics industry has fought the never ending battle to prove to an uncaring world that comics weren’t just for kids. Thankfully there are now very few one–note heroes left, most of them now being heavily conflicted ‘Anti–Heroes’ who tread the morally gray area b

Robert shot an action-packed short film called Two Scoops, starring twins Lola and Lucia who operate an ice cream truck by day and happen to also be monster-slayers. Fans contributed to the project by submitting films, Tweeting their ideas for super-weapons, creating the fiercest monsters, and sending in their photos to appear on Missing Person posters.
We're excited to announce that the collaboration is now complete! You can see the finished film right here, along with the best contributions from fans, and documentary footage to tell the story of the project.

Elon Musk might be the most prolific inventor and entrepreneur since Thomas Edison — that’s a somewhat ironic comparison for a man who named his company after Edison’s greatest rival, but there’s some truth to it. Musk has something of a deranged genius persona. He’s known for investing in risky companies like the priv

Daxiong is often asked how he approaches his artwork. Some of his pieces become extremely complex, so we asked him to give us a step-by-step tutorial.
The piece he chose was one he did for an exhibit of the French comics MuoWang. This piece is now on display and being used as a reference in the library of L. Senghor a secondary school in Corbeil-Essonnes, France:
Daxiong: This drawing was the "longest" one in my life, with the draft starting in Hangzhou China, and the finished work in New York. It crossed the whole Pacific Ocean and North America. This piece took me a week with the art editor calling me on the long trip to tell me to hurry up. I had little money with me nor time. but I just wanted to begin the journey to the US, mayb

Gnomes live underground.
That’s the main way to demarcate them from the other “Wee Peoples” who live in the far Northern parts, mostly of the UK (or, at least, in the minds of the people who live there). Once upon a time, they were thought of as spirits that could rise out of and dissolve back into the earth, but they’re now thought by believers to be small humanoid underground dwellers who are very gruff and anti-social, a lot

Yesterday's events... Joss' opinion on the ending of ESB, Bradley Cooper's probable casting as the voice of Rocket Raccoon and the biggie, Ben Affleck being named the next Batman has made me realize just how absolutely insane some of you people are.
Seriously. I'm not joking. Some of you people have absolutely ZERO CLUE as to what you're talking about. But I thank you in advance for making weeding you out easier.
Let's start with Whedon and move from there.
So Joss apparently was quoted as saying that he was "appalled by the the ending of Empire because it didn't have an ending."
It didn't folks. And he was referring to being appalled as a kid. Trust me, all of you whining about this right now were too, just that "appalling" is too strong a word for some of you. At least those of you who were old enough to see these films in the theaters in their original run, which most of you weren't. You had the instant grat

If you GET a distribution deal, you'll be in the long shadow cast by the big companies, buried in a dark corner of a vast monthly catalogue.
If you have no marketing budget, then your only option is to hit message boards, FaceBook, indie-driven comic sites, and by getting hold of a list of the internet comics news sites – they're easy enough to find, you just have to Google them.
If you have created your own book, and your dream is to see it printed, but you have literally no funds and nobody is willing to publish it, there are other great options, such as http://www.lulu.com/blog/tag/print-on-demand/. Here you can upload your entire book having placed it into one of the templates they provide, and you can then order a printed, bound copy direct from them for the price you set for it.
