“If life were a camera, I'd have the lens cap on.”
― Charles M. Schulz
I lacked the inspiration for any words for the article today, so I googled Photography under News and came up with something pretty amazing. Photography, it says, can be an ideal tool to give a voice to those who need it most, people on the margins of society, or who have little access to mass modes of outside communication. Photo-journalism goes some way to documenting those who can't document themselves, but how different would it be if they could do it? What would they photograph if they were stood behind the view finder looking forwards at their own lives? And equally - what would we photograph about ourselves?
PhotoVoice is a charity that was formed about ten years ago and is now well known for its commitment to training and developing the knowledge of those members of communities who are l

The water started looking like pee as the colors washed off and then it turned more green. I had the camera set up on a tripod as close as I could get, and then I used Live view on the screen and set the 100mm macro lens to manual so that I could manually focus it on the dripping water. (I had previously used the tinsel for some natural bokeh effects like in this shot: http://night-fate.deviantart.com/art/bokeh-278729833
I was trying to take two different kinds of photos at once lol. It's better to start with one thing and then try the other.
This is what it looked like through Live view, and then when I shot random photos using the internal flash, I get random results. Once it's focused where the water is dripping, then it's not as frustrating...that is, if you're using a tripod. However, it sometimes gets frustrating that you can't really get as close with a tripod, then you fi

Baby name!Today is my my 5 year wedding anniversary! Woot!Baby name!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Lots of you have asked, so to celebrate I thought I'd finally share what we are naming our baby! I've loved the name Ember just about forever and always imagined one day I'd have a little girl and that would be her name. Good thing Matty loves it too! I just think it's so pretty and unique and I don't care what anyone says, I love it!
So here is a cute little dragon art of baby Ember
Also, check out this adorable dragon my friend Liz made for me. It's baby Ember in her own dragon style! She made an awesome tutorial on how she builds her dragons. Go check out her work, they're very cute and she has really worked hard to develop her own dragon style! Thanks Liz! I just love your version of little Ember! She's beautiful and I will display her proudly in my studio

It's difficult to feel motivated and stay focused on our goals all the time. But how to achieve what we want, how to not let procrastination stand in our way?
Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
1. Set goals
Think about your ultimate goal - what is that matters to you the most, what would make you incredibly happy and excited. Write that down and work your way through to it. It will be the reason, the reminder for you to look forward in those times, when you'll feel less motivated.
Try to write also weekly, monthly and yearly goals - be reasonable and realistic regarding that, but don't be afraid of challenges. They have to be S.M.A.R.T. - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.
2. Plan tasks in previous day
Make a l
What Pisses Me Off Okay guys what really pissed me off today was that there was three teenage bitches that was bullying one girl at a swimming pool. They kept calling her names that made me angry...so what I did was grabbed one of the girls hair and pulled it so I could slap her face, I started calling them names then they left crying. Then the girl that was being bullied became my friendWhat Pisses Me Off1 year ago in Personal More Like This
video sketchesyes you guessed it.video sketches8 months ago in Personal More Like This
i saw my husbands video and felt the urge of wanting to make one as well. why? dunno.. I just realized I wanted to relax and sketch whatever so I turned on my recorder XD
its funny, there have been so many times I wanted to demonstrate the way both me and my husband write our comics. but I just couldn't get around to catching that moment when I had a certain idea I wanted to turn into a strip.
With me it happens gradually, especially now that I have a ton of work on the side so I can draw an idea in a few doodles, and let it sit around. then after a few days I come back to it.. or after a month or after 3 months. sometimes the idea is good, and sometimes it isn't. sometimes when you think you had the best idea, you wake up the next morning and think.. what was i thinking ?? XD
This can never fit there!
But sometimes its a fun or interesting idea so you keep it anyway XD
well this video shows how the ideas are born. I'm pretty sure many of you are f

Have other suggestions? Add them to the comments section and we'll put them in the article!
1. Post-work is not a dirty word
A lot of people have this idea in their heads that editing an image in Photoshop after you render it, or combining different things you've rendered separately together is somehow deceitful and wrong, but it's not.
Post-work just makes your 3D even better! It's a lot faster to fix a small lighting bug in Photoshop than edit it painstakingly in your 3D program, and often the results are just as good!
2. Pre-made models are not cheating (and cheating is OK)
There seems to be this rift between people that create their own models, and people that use premade stock, such as Daz, Poser, etc, and this idea th
Art and perfectionismDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and perfectionism7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Perfectionism can be a good and a bad thing at the same time. We strive for it, but sometimes the result doesn't exceed our expectations. And that's okay.
Not every single artwork you make has to be a masterpiece. Make some sketches, speedpaints, studies - just do something. See your flaws, be aware of them - and work on them. Don't put yourself down with negativity. It never helps. It takes time to learn, to gain new skills and make art. Through many hours of work we achieve what we want. And it takes time.
It's so easy to give up. To think - what's the point in doing this, if the artwork is never perfect. Art doesn't have to be always perfect, it has to be made. We have to get used to the fact that we'll never be good enough - there is a beauty in that, because we have something to strive for, to experience and observe.
Making art is difficult and yet it's fun. En

Common IssuesThis page is a response to common issues for those who have deconverted or are critically questioning their faith. It is broken into two main sections, each with it's own subcategories addressing specific points. The first section deals with issues ex-Christians may have, they include fear of hell, fear of death, telling friends and relatives you no longer believe, and "what if I'm wrong?". The second section deals with commonly heard arguments (if one can call them that) by the religious, which include "you have no morals", "you have faith in science", "evolution is just a theory" and more. Each point will just give a brief response or explanation. These are no way conclusive or entirely thorough, they won't attempt to answer every possible angle as many of these issues can be quite in depth, but there will be links to find more information on the issue (also see our resource section for many more). InkBlazers ShutdownThe Bad NewsInkBlazers Shutdown1 month ago in Personal More Like This
It's been a few days since the news came out to the general public: InkBlazers is shutting down.
This is very sad news for many folks, as InkBlazers was the home of tons of comics and their fans, and offered a centralized community for many to participate in. Several of our own members have been a large part of InkBlazers, so this has been very difficult news for everyone involved!
What does this mean for you?
If you were a member of the InkBlazers community, this means that the site will go dark on February 1, 2015.
I cannot stress this enough -- BACK UP YOUR DATA. You can do this by downloading any work you want to save, or copying and reposting blogs and other information you want to maintain long-term.
There's a fantastic Emergency Exodus handbook by omittchi, which details steps to take for this process. You can find links to

Continuation of my journal post "5 reasons why we fail to get things done"
Often we try to be as productive as possible - so many things to do, so many artworks to make. But then comes the procrastination, indecisiveness, lazyness and other excuses that come in our way. How to deal with them, how to accomplish all we ever wanted..? Here are my 5 tips for you that I have been doing for a while and I hope that It'll help you too.
1. 3 tasks for a day.
In the morning or in the previous evening write down 3 main things you want/need to do in a day. Be realistic, but strive for the things that will help you develop the skill, move you closer to bigger goals. Check them, change them depending on each day and cross them over when you have made them happen. You will k

10 ways to get inspiredDear, deviantart fellow artists10 ways to get inspired7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Inspiration is such an important subject for every artist. When we have it - we feel amazing and full of creative energy, but when we lack it, we tend to be anxious and procrastinate on things we really like to do.
So here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
1. Go outside
We tend to spend way too much time indoors. Try to do some plein-air painting/drawing. Explore the world around you - It's not only good for your health, but It's also a great way to get inspired by nature, people in streets, clouds and sunsets etc.
2. Gather pictures in inspiration folder
If you see some amazing art, photography - save it on your computer. Or fave it in dA, or collect in your tumblr/pinterest board. Look at that folder every once in a while. If you see some really advanced and cool art
Be a good Muppet todayGo ahead, be a good muppet. Do and think EXACTLY what the media wants you to. Thou shalt feel sorry for the three people who were murdered in Boston today. 25,000 die from hunger every day, a million is withering away in prisons due to the war on drugs for victimless crimes, human rights violations abound, preventable disease and lack of clean water is killing millions per year, banking cartels immune from prosecution are stealing trillions, drones are blowing up children in half, etc, etc..
Fuck all that, right? The media didn't tell you to care. Take the red pill, friends, and walk away. Keep your mind under your own control. This is not a lack of compassion the three fellow human beings who tragically lost their lives today. It's a lack of respect for those who use every marketable tragedy to further their ends and profits. I

Nesting! And a sick ratty :(Holy crap you guys. I've always heard mothers-to-be get this urge to "nest" and I thought it was kind of silly. I mean sure, who doesn't want to get things clean and organized before their life is thrown into baby chaos? That makes sense. "Nesting" just sounds so...intense, I guess? But holy bananas, it is a real thing! And it just hit me like a brick wall this past week. I mean I NEED to clean everything. Every. Single. Thing. I'd sit down in the studio to work, and find myself tidying it up instead. Doh! Focus Becca, get back to work! Wander out to the kitchen for a drink, and magically find myself sweeping and vaccuuming and organizing everything. Then it just keeps going. I'm like a woman possessed! Clean ALL the things! And that is why I haven't done a lick of work since Thursday... but on the plus side, the house is freakin sparkling and organized as hellNesting! I am VERY dissatisfied with the ruling on the Hobby Lobby Case. No, I am infuriated.
Yes, I understand it's only 4 little things they will not allow insurance to cover. That's not the point.
The point is that they had no right.
Before you start cussing me out or anything, everyone pays a premium for their insurance. So, we are PAYING for OUR insurance. Therefore, does that really make it right for your boss to say what care you get?
To top it off, women's health care is NOT cheap. I've already read stories of women who went in for their check-ups and the like. and because in one, she dared bring up birth control pills, and get a new prescription... the WHOLE visit was not covered by her insurance. $600 for the visit alone, and no idea what she had to pay for her medication.
AND! To top THAT off, I am so sick and tired of people calling women whores for using birth control. "I'm not going to pay for your sex!" Ask any wom
