It's been a month or more since I last did a journal--figured you all might like to have yet *another* journal crowding your inboxes and since I just roll that way, here it is!
I don't know how everybody else's autumn went but here it was really quite good until the last week. Last Saturday it was 70 F and a real pleasant day. Sunday a front came through and we've had nothing but clouds and cold and snow and below zero temps. I guess we had to pay for all the nice weather we've had here sometime
I've finally got a little time to unwind and try to get caught up on DA...an impossible task, really. No amount of free time will gain me an 'in control' inbox, I think. I've actually got some irons in the fire other than here and they have been taking up the majority of any time not working.
I hope you all have been enjoying life and li
The Intermission Has Been ExtendedI've went a little crazy. I've went a little numb. It's been such a long, short time I can't remember if the geese are coming or going...Opportunities offered and missed, Appointments made but I am remiss in making them at all.The Intermission Has Been Extended6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I feel higher than my lowest low--like a bruise healing nicely but still warm and tender with the garish purple hues. However, something special is on the way--I can feel it in my soul. What it is, I have no clue. Might be just waking up each morning (a nice prize, that).
I can tell it's time for me to hit the tutorials again--there is a concept I have for a set of photos, a triptych, that I am befuddled as to how to do with the software I have. It can't be that hard though. I just can't wrap my pea brain around it at this time.
Enjoy your Autumn and or spring for those in the Southern Hemisphere

April is dominated by the charming Aries Constellation and bring close to us a powerful zodiac sign.
so, let's see! :icontruesmiles:
Aries is willing to change and challenge, is attracted to adventure and risk. He is born to be a natural leader, a man who regards life as a perpetual struggle and everyone around them are competitors. Aries is competitive, courageous, self-confident, proving very bold. Has initiative, likes to take the lead or to start some projects that others do not have the courage to launch. Natives of Aries (March 21-April 19) are very joyful, intemperate, have perseverance in pursuing goals and don't accept compromises. A New World Has Been Found!Hi dee ho!A New World Has Been Found!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It's been a strange and wonderful week for me! Strange, because of the weird and wild weather we've had here in sunny South Dakota () The week started off fairly nice for February but temperatures soon dropped to the -20F & -30F range and then the snow came. Not a lot of snow, a couple inches, but any amount of snow is a disaster to me! I'm sympathizing with folks back east who REALLY have something to complain about with one storm after another knocking them down and covering them with ice and snow. By comparison, I've had it pretty good here!
The wonderful part...well, many of you already know. 'Drive' got a DD! I actually owe a lot of thanks to Bob :icontthealer56: for poking and prodding me (not gently either! :iconsuperpokeplz into just submitting it to my gallery, so I say here that I thank you for that, Doc. I can be a colossal pain in the ass where my own photography is concerned and I'm just glad you can see

"We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic.
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic.
And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when the fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don't have to fear it.
And I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will flow into the mystic..."

General Photography Daily Deviation GuidelinesHello everyone!General Photography Daily Deviation Guidelines3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Alongside Kaz-D, I am open to suggestions for Daily Deviations from the Photography Gallery in the following sub-galleries only:
People & Portraits [Only Classic Portraits, Emotive Portraits, Expressive, Infants and Children, Miscellaneous, Self-Portraits, Spontaneous Portraits, Weddings]
...basically any Photography sub-gallery without a Community Volunteer attached!
Tips & Hints
[Bullet; Blue] I like to take into account the Daily Deviations received in the photographer's past. Because of this, I am more inclined to feature those that have not already received a Daily Deviation in 2012, or have less than 3 Daily Deviations.
[Bullet; Blue] I like things to be natural where photography is concerned, so most effects should be simple and minimal, such

MooseWhen I was a little girl, one of my favorite TV shows was Captain Kangaroo. Way back, when it was broadcast in black and white! Later, it went to color. Remember Mr. Moose and the ping pong balls?Moose1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Then, who could forget Rocky and Bullwinkle!
And finally, this winter, Mike and I have been watching Northern Exposure at lunchtime.
Where am I going with this? I present to you - Moose! Enjoy!
Is the Console War Over Before It Began? At the risk of perpetuating the stereotype of being a blatant Nintendo fanboy, I have to say that out of the 3 console systems coming out, it's only Nintendo's which actually seems to have a sort of purpose to it. The latest details for the Xbox One show that pretty much every aspect of gaming culture that we hate has been incorporated into it. Needing to check in every 24 hours to make sure you've legally bought a game? Check. Not able to bring games over to a friend's house unless your friend ALSO buys the game? Check. Forcing game stores to sign an agreement to pay Microsoft a large percentage of the used sale fee? Check. More motion controls? Check. Inability to let independent-developers make games on their system? Check. Not backwards compatible? Check. Stronger emphasis on watching TV and movies than playing games? Check. Seriously, this is like a check list of all the worse possible things to include in a gaming console.
By that account, the PS4 is doing

Training your eye is very important. To take your photography to the next level and grow as an artist, you need to know what looks good, have an open mind and build your own style.
Point at the first thing that attracts your attention (often being the brightest point in the image)
Try to mentally trace the path your eye takes around the image (it's like connecting the dots in order to discover the story, in this case)
Has the photographer used the rule of thirds? Or a different type of placing the elements in the image?
Has the photographer shot from his eye level? Or chose a different point of view?
What is the photographer trying to transmit with the image?
How has the photographer used the environment to tell the story?
How has the photographer used light?
Why does the image work?
Does the image evoke an emotional response in the viewer's eye?
From the above, which can be appli

Ends of the Earth
The photographs in the following gallery look like CGI artists’ conceptions for alien planet settings in science–fiction movies.
But the locations are all places to be experienced right here on Earth. So much of our world is becoming “flyover” territory in our high–tech mobile society that amazing places like those in these studies are becoming lost to us. Take a long look at each of these landscapes and then ask yo

Zorzalito. Zorzalito. Days 5-64 months ago in Personal More Like This
Hello, as I promised (although a day late), I bring some news about Zorzalito. We have lived together for almost a week on my room, yesterday he achieved something new, he got out of his pen by himself, he climbed my bass amplifier (50cm), then he jumped to a big speaker and from there, flapping his little wings, he reached the turntable, he was about to get on my desk! He explore my room moving with little jumps, he has ea
