Lighting in Portrait PhotographyPeople and Portraits weekLighting in Portrait Photography10 months ago in Art Features More Like This
I'm writing this tutorial of sorts, for all of you portrait photographers out there seeking advice about the lighting in your photographs. First off let me be clear in saying that I am no expert, or rather I do not claim to be, I sometimes do things in unusual ways, and my tips and advice are definitely not the only ones you should follow. This journal is just me giving you my take on how to get great lighting for your shots
1. Never shoot when the sun is at its highest peak.
Depending on where you live and your climate, this might vary, but I usually never shoot between the hours of 12-4 unless I'm shooting indoors, or it's a cloudy day. If you're doing an outdoors shoot and the sun is blasting on your model, you are very unlikely to get good results. Not only will it be uncomfortable for your model, and make it difficult to pose with a natural expression (sun in your eyes, worst feeling in the world),

Hi, below are the images you can work with. Make sure if you use other stock as well from someone else, that commercial use is allowed. That's a must.
To enter, post your artwork here in the comments. Try and keep them as close to portrait format as opposed to square or landscape; around 20cm width x 30cm height. Don't worry about doing the text, I'll sort that out later with the finalist images unless you really like doing it. Limited to five entries p

...and Aella jumped out of the window.
Thank God I found her back - alive. She sat in a corner, not moving at all, looking at me with big eyes. At first she seemed pretty okay. She still used all fours to walk around and seemed alert. Good old laser dot was still interesting for her. Until I noticed she was breathing hard and she peed blood.
I took her to the vet. They made Xrays and it turns out one of her lungs burst. As I'm typing this my dear girl is in an oxygen tank and the vets are pumping the air outside her lungs had away. She has to stay for a few days, and I don't even know the cause of her peeing blood yet. All I can do is hope for the best; please let it be a broken vein and nothing worse...
The vet costs are running high already. I hate begging but I'm desperate. Aella isn't even one year old yet and she's so dear to me, I can't
