Deviants in Need- New ProjectHey guys! So I've gotten a few notes from people lately about fellow artists who are going through rough times.Deviants in Need- New Project1 year ago in Personal More Like This
As much as I would love to make a personal journal for each deviant who needs some help, I don't think that would be very effective and that would be A LOT of journals.
Soo...I am a starting a new project! If you look on my profile, you will see that I have installed a new widget entitled "Deviants in Need". This is a place where I can list all deviantARTISTS who are going through a rough time and could use some help.
I will list their icon and a link to their journal entry. Helping out is as easy as looking on this widget, and finding someone to help! You can leave an encouraging comment, spread the word, buy a commission- anything!
How to be added to the list:
-Send me a note with a link to your journal
-I will update the list in my spare time
It's that easy!
The first person I have added to this list could really u

New BeginningsThundering hooves made the ground shake. Shining portals flickered and shone brightly in the twilight, blue light cascading from the arch of pure power. What lay beyond was obscured by the shimmering light, leaving the horses to trust that when they leapt through, their hooves would touch ground on the other side. The Nordanners were beautiful, strong, and powerful—confident even as the earth threatened to fall away. They leapt through the portal one by one…and vanished. All the world was silent for a brief and terrible moment.New Beginnings2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Everything crumbled. If an entire world could scream out in defiance, this one did. Then it was gone.
When the announcement had been made that the magic holding their beloved world afloat in the universe had become unstable, it had been simply unbelievable at first. But it was a simple fact: Change was coming, whether they liked it or not. Some of the residents wanted to move to a new land and simply take the name Skagenrak with them. Others wanted

Seven years ago when I was struggling to learn portraiture, I remember saying to my mom, "When I "get" this, I'm going to teach everyone how to do it!" So here we are, seven years later and I'm ready to share the knowledge I've discovered.
After years of studying with professional portrait artists, lots of reading about how to draw the face, and by studying the works of master artists like Sargent, Bouguereau, Vanderpoel, and Loomis I'm ready to share the most helpful information I

DD Suggestion GuidelinesUPDATE > I am no longer accepting DD suggestions, please send them to current CV's > :faq18:DD Suggestion Guidelines1 year ago in Personal More Like This
As one of the current CV's assigned for Traditional Art Galleries, I am taking Daily Deviation suggestions - I can only feature artworks within Traditional Art categories.
How to suggest
- Send me a note with "DD suggestion" as a subject
- In the note, include a thumbnail of the work you are suggesting
- I encourage you to write a brief description of why you think this piece should be featured, but it's not obligatory
- If you wish to remain anonymous as a suggester, please let me know ahead of time
Personal process of going through my suggestions
- Before suggesting, make sure the artist hasn't already received a Daily Deviation within the past 6 months.
- You don't need to suggest more than one piece, I will always look at the entire

It looks better in real life...
Scanner ate the colors!
The photo does not do justice.
How many times you have read or typed yourself such notes in artist’s comments, under traditional artworks?
You’re not alone; digitizing our drawings, paintings, sculptures and other traditional, hand-made artworks can be tricky. Of course the work is never exactly same when changing it from a concrete object to a picture on a screen, but a lot can be done to achieve as representative result as possible!
This is the first part of a basic guide how to make your traditional artworks look appealing when presenting them in the Internet. This is not about changing or manipulating your traditional artwork to something it is not originally, but helping you to make it look as good on a screen as it is in real life.
This Part 1 introduces scanning and photographing tips.
The Part 2 advices how to edit the scanned/photographed artworks.

Monthly Themes - August winner and Closing Update-I really wanted to do this with Cavitto as well, so we will likely have similar themes and prizes to make it easier for my brain I've copy-pasted the rules etc over here from there so let me know if I missed something!Monthly Themes - August winner and Closing Update-1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Hello all! A while ago I had a poll up asking some questions and getting some amazing feedback on things we could do as a group and Monthly Themes was one of the suggestions! I thought it was a great suggestion and so we're going to go ahead and give it a shot this year to see how it goes. If you have questions, please ask!
I'm going to try and use this same journal for all 12 months of the year, but if it starts getting too messy or long I may split it up. The current month will always be at the top of the list. So if we're in April, it will read April, THEN January and Feburary. When the month is complete, it will be moved to its proper place in the year and the current month will take its place.
These will apply to EVERY month.
Breed Member RulesRead them. Know them. Love them.Breed Member Rules2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There has been an important update to the Registration rules. From now on, we will officially enforce a 15 day deadline + 5 day grace period for foal designs.
This breed is not free to create. Only Cloudrunner64 and associates are permitted to create new Cavitto discoveries.
Being a member is fine, but you cannot submit anything but Cavitto-related art.
The ONLY way to get a Cavitto is through import auctions/sales, or through breeding.
If you are not a member of the group, you are NOT allowed to own a Cavitto.
You are required to register your Cavitto with the group by drawing a reference within 30 days from the day you recieved him/her and submitting that reference to the group. Wait for approval; once your reference has been accepted to the group your Cavitto is officially registered!
#01 Constructively Comment in 5 Quick Steps!ProjectComment is a Group of many projects centred around comments, but, more importantly, constructive comments. Please help support us by the article and contribute your thoughts and opinions on the matter.#01 Constructively Comment in 5 Quick Steps!1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
This article will list five easy ways to make your comment constructive. What many people do not realise is that a constructive comment does not have to be as long or as indepth as a critique, and that you don't need to be an awesome commenter or an awesome artist to write a constructive comment. You probably won't have to spend more than 5-10 minutes writing a constructive comment, and it could still be helpful to the artist.
Here are the steps that you can take to make your comment more constructive:
State the things you like about the piece.
Try and state one thi
My first time-lapse projectFinally i could do all the processing and work and here is my first time-lapse video of Aurora. All material was recorded in Jyväskylä - Finland which is actually not the best place for aurora watch. Still i could make enough collection for a full 8 minutes video. First scene is from March 2013 which was my first aurora watch ever. The rest are recorded between august and november 2013. Soon i will be back with another time-lapse of sunset and sunrises mostly. My first time-lapse project1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Equine artists, please raise your hand!So several years back I worked hard and put together a list of equine artists on dA with the help of some super awesome volunteers. While that list is long outdated and even making a group of it all Equine-Artists-List , the hype just faded and it's not really something being used at the moment (the list, that is, the group itself is quite active).Equine artists, please raise your hand!2 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I have some thoughts and ideas that I'd like to work on but I need your help in indentifying as many equine artists on dA as possible. That's right, I'm bringing back the list!
So, this is where you all come in. Are you an equine artist? Do you know any equine artists on dA? Please drop a comment with their or your username so I can add you to the list.
For Equine-Artists-List 's purpose we have said that someone with 4 or more equine pieces may be considered an equine artist. (this is not to say that anyone with less can not also be an equine artist, but the purpose is to find those
