Deviants in Need- New ProjectHey guys! So I've gotten a few notes from people lately about fellow artists who are going through rough times.Deviants in Need- New Project2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As much as I would love to make a personal journal for each deviant who needs some help, I don't think that would be very effective and that would be A LOT of journals.
Soo...I am a starting a new project! If you look on my profile, you will see that I have installed a new widget entitled "Deviants in Need". This is a place where I can list all deviantARTISTS who are going through a rough time and could use some help.
I will list their icon and a link to their journal entry. Helping out is as easy as looking on this widget, and finding someone to help! You can leave an encouraging comment, spread the word, buy a commission- anything!
How to be added to the list:
-Send me a note with a link to your journal
-I will update the list in my spare time
It's that easy!
The first person I have added to this list could really u

DD Suggestion GuidelinesUPDATE > I am no longer accepting DD suggestions, please send them to current CV's > :faq18:DD Suggestion Guidelines2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As one of the current CV's assigned for Traditional Art Galleries, I am taking Daily Deviation suggestions - I can only feature artworks within Traditional Art categories.
How to suggest
- Send me a note with "DD suggestion" as a subject
- In the note, include a thumbnail of the work you are suggesting
- I encourage you to write a brief description of why you think this piece should be featured, but it's not obligatory
- If you wish to remain anonymous as a suggester, please let me know ahead of time
Personal process of going through my suggestions
- Before suggesting, make sure the artist hasn't already received a Daily Deviation within the past 6 months.
- You don't need to suggest more than one piece, I will always look at the entire

Seven years ago when I was struggling to learn portraiture, I remember saying to my mom, "When I "get" this, I'm going to teach everyone how to do it!" So here we are, seven years later and I'm ready to share the knowledge I've discovered.
After years of studying with professional portrait artists, lots of reading about how to draw the face, and by studying the works of master artists like Sargent, Bouguereau, Vanderpoel, and Loomis I'm ready to share the most helpful information I

My first time-lapse projectFinally i could do all the processing and work and here is my first time-lapse video of Aurora. All material was recorded in Jyväskylä - Finland which is actually not the best place for aurora watch. Still i could make enough collection for a full 8 minutes video. First scene is from March 2013 which was my first aurora watch ever. The rest are recorded between august and november 2013. Soon i will be back with another time-lapse of sunset and sunrises mostly. My first time-lapse project2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I hope you like the video. Have a great weekend, may the light be with you!
New BeginningsThundering hooves made the ground shake. Shining portals flickered and shone brightly in the twilight, blue light cascading from the arch of pure power. What lay beyond was obscured by the shimmering light, leaving the horses to trust that when they leapt through, their hooves would touch ground on the other side. The Nordanners were beautiful, strong, and powerful—confident even as the earth threatened to fall away. They leapt through the portal one by one…and vanished. All the world was silent for a brief and terrible moment.New Beginnings3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Everything crumbled. If an entire world could scream out in defiance, this one did. Then it was gone.
When the announcement had been made that the magic holding their beloved world afloat in the universe had become unstable, it had been simply unbelievable at first. But it was a simple fact: Change was coming, whether they liked it or not. Some of the residents wanted to move to a new land and simply take the name Skagenrak with them. Others wanted

PE: Presenting Your Traditional Artworks, Part 2Traditional Art WeekPE: Presenting Your Traditional Artworks, Part 210 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This is the second part of a basic guide how to make your traditional artworks look appealing when presenting them in the Internet. This is not about changing or manipulating your traditional artwork to something is not originally, but helping you to make it look as good on a screen as it is in real life.
The Part 1 introduced some scanning and shooting tips;
This Part 2 advices how to edit the scanned/photographed artworks.
This guide is meant especially for beginning artists but maybe also more advanced artists can find something new to think about – or maybe you can share your best tips in the comment area of this article!
EDITING YOUR DIGITIZED PICTURES
For editing your scanned or photographed picture you need a software to do that (or you can use the adjustment tools your scanner offers, see Part 1 for those). Adobe Photoshop is a co
Monthly Themes - August winner and Closing Update-I really wanted to do this with Cavitto as well, so we will likely have similar themes and prizes to make it easier for my brain I've copy-pasted the rules etc over here from there so let me know if I missed something!Monthly Themes - August winner and Closing Update-2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hello all! A while ago I had a poll up asking some questions and getting some amazing feedback on things we could do as a group and Monthly Themes was one of the suggestions! I thought it was a great suggestion and so we're going to go ahead and give it a shot this year to see how it goes. If you have questions, please ask!
I'm going to try and use this same journal for all 12 months of the year, but if it starts getting too messy or long I may split it up. The current month will always be at the top of the list. So if we're in April, it will read April, THEN January and Feburary. When the month is complete, it will be moved to its proper place in the year and the current month will take its place.
These will apply to EVERY month.
How to promote other people's work on dAOne of the great things about dA is that it's not only a place where you can promote your own work - it's also a place where you can promote art you admire by other people. There's a whole bunch of ways that you can do this, so if you'd like to help draw attention to awesome art created by your friends or brilliant things you've found while browsing, read on and find out how you could make someone's day.How to promote other people's work on dA7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
FEATURING ART IN YOUR JOURNAL
At present, using images and thumbnails in your journal is a subscriber only feature. If you look around dA you'll see al sorts of different features - selections from people's recent favourites, thumbnails of work on a theme, collections of prints etc. You can feature other people's work on your Shoutboard as well as in your journal entries as the thumb code will work on your Shoutboard too. Here are a few FAQ entries that will help you to use your journal to feature other people's work...
Introduction to ACEOsTraditional ArtIntroduction to ACEOs4 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Wouldn't it be awesome to own a collection of original, handmade artworks from various artists?
Unfortunately having a large collection of big paintings or drawings is not often possible because original artworks and their shipping around the world cost money and they also need lots of space at your home to be presented in the best possible way. However, this does not mean you couldn't own a piece of art from your favorite artist: the solution is artist trading cards, also known as ATCs or ACEOs.
At the beginning of this article I introduce what these little cards are. To trading and creating ACEOs in DeviantArt us take the artists themselves by interview: The artists let us know how they started trading and what keeps them doing it. They also share their best tips of creating and trading these cards!
What is ACEO?
ACEO is an acronym that stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. ACEOs are variants of Artist Trading
