Alrighty. Cause I'm one of those corny types, I want to do something special for the 1-year anniversary for Portal 2. I figured it would make it a group effort, as all of us have been part of this one year period of testing. So, you know what that means? That's right!
Collaborative Testing Effort!
Or... collaborative art effort... Whichever.
Anyway, what I'm getting at, is we're going to do another big collab. This one will have NO participation limit, so everyone is free to join in! What we're going to do is a collab where everyone draws themselves as test subjects. Here's the sketch for the background that I have in mind: http://i44.tinypic.com/2m4w0f5.png
I'll make it however long as I'll need to, depending on how many people I get.
However, here are few rules/guidelines for submission:
1. Only ONE submission per person
2. Only draw YOURSELF in the picture. No Cores or Cakes or Cubes with you. I'll be decorating some of the negative space with notable
Chuck Jones Quotes on Characters"If you start with character, you probably will end up with good drawings."Chuck Jones Quotes on Characters3 years ago in Personal More Like This
"As you become acquainted with a character you are creating, you add parts of yourself that are pertinent to that character."
"Each character represented a trait that resides in me."
"I have come to know Bugs so well that I no longer have to think about what he is doing in any situation. I let the part of me that is Bugs come to the surface, knowing, with regret, that I can never match his marvelous confidence."
"The whole essence of good drawing—and of good thinking, perhaps—is to work a subject down to the simplest form possible and still have it believable for what it is meant to be."
~Chuck Jones, director, animator, cartoonist, and cocreator of characters we know today as the Looney Tunes
I got trolled last year about how you should not pour traits of people you know or yourself into your characters. It makes it too personal, they said. It's unprofessional and stupi

Next time someone tells you "I was born this way" remind them of what God said,
"Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to ALL men because all sinned..." Romans 5:12 ESV
"for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17 (NIV)
Being "born this way" does not justify you... it simply demonstrates that you were born as a sinner and YOU need God... Come to HIM today.

The Purposes of Love and Hate in ExistenceOn the subject of love, I believe that regardless of the advances in the world of science, we will never truly understand what it is, let alone why we experience it. Be it a love for another person, a love for a friend, and love a hobby or scent or even the tiniest detail in something we would otherwise hate...love is best explained as a blessing from God, to give a brighter meaning to our existence. Without love or compassion, without any sort of fondness for anything around us, the darkness of this life would've consumed us long ago.The Purposes of Love and Hate in Existence2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yet still and also equally, am I fascinated with the feeling we know as hatred. The darker breed of love, basically put. As it is just passion with some varied amount of fear, which of course comes from a lack of understanding. We as humans, fear what we don't understand, therefore, it's most often that hatred grows from that fear as a form of justification of one's ignorance. Simply put: why hate something if you just don't understand it? Why be a

In most of Europe, sexual preference is generally met with a shrug. In the United States, a revolution is taking place in regard to the general population's view of sexuality practiced outside of what has long been considered the mainstream, i.e., heterosexual sex. Nevertheless, in Russia and countries where Islamic principles are practiced, as well as in other parts of the world, the LGBTQ movement is suppressed, even persecuted. In regard to Christianity, many "Christians" are changing their outlook on the practice of homosexuality, and many of Christendom's churches are eagerly devising recruitment tactics to draw this segment of the populace.
With all the controversy, it's no wonder that many are confused as to what to believe. Many feel that

A series of private pools suggests the 1968 Burt Lancastar film, “The Swimmer,” (based on a John Cheever story) in which a man decides to swim a “river” of backyard swimming pools in an affluent neighborhood to make his way home. Along the way, encounters with his neighbors produce a soul–crushing epiphany that he is not nearly the beloved, respected, successful man he had deluded himself into believing.

•Stumbled upon the above picture on tumblr. I first imagined a highschool bully for Abbey for TΛB. The idea for Hana to be Abbey's older sister came some time afterwards when brainstorming Hana's backstory.
•Stumbled upon this picture as well. Primarly saved the image as clothing refs for Michiko Toyoda. I always commented on how Cara (who's name I didn't even know at the time) looked like an ideal daughter for Michiko.
•So the base idea for Hana was set. She would be the daughter of someone with Michiko's likeness and instead of being

The Artist’s Toolkit
Just happy to be at my easel painting
Whether they be a baker, painter, or candlestick maker, every artisan has their own set of tools.
The strategic slice of a chef’s knife, the perfectly placed stroke of a painter’s brush, the forensic eye of a camera lens, each bends to the will of their master. But the artist must first learn to tame each of their tools before they will do their bidding.

ID Challenge:How much can you admit about yourselfThe Challenge:ID Challenge:How much can you admit about yourself10 years ago in Personal More Like This
Create an ID that focuses on three aspects of yourself:
a.) Things you love about yourself. Never be ashamed to love yourself; we all have things about us that we adore and wouldn't trade for the world. Be proud of your best features!
b.) Things that you hate about yourself. How much are you willing to admit? Be as honest as possible because understanding and respecting your faults is how you can begin to overcome them.
c.)Things that you're proud of, but maybe shouldn't be. Sometimes there are things you hate in other people but secretly love in yourself. Sometimes there are qualities most people find unattractive that you just love about yourself. These are sometimes our defining features. Bust out the nitty gritty.
originally I was going to make a collage of all of the ID's but I've recieved nearly 100 so I don't think its really possible anymore... but it was never really about the giant collage it was more about the challenge so I hope ever

Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)Art is a process.Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Like that of the scientific method and philosophical alchemy, art can be refined and improved through process. From observation, to experiment, to reflection and conclusion, art is improved by the steps we make towards change, not solidification and stagnation. Much of the advice out there for drawing is simply practice or avoid distractions. This advice is good, but there is more to creation than just throwing yourself mindlessly into a task and avoiding bad habits along the way. Good habits and knowledge will help to excel your learning process faster, and from that, improve faster and more effectively.
Look at it
As an artist, observation is key. The skill we develop is not just seeing, but interpreting what we see, remembering what we have seen and recording it in the form of visual art. This is a skill that, aside from blindness or vision degradation, you will be able to improve during your entire life. The way of seeing from an art

Once Upon A Time
Fairy tales usually begin once upon a time—a time that need not be identified because the tale, and its meaning, are of a timeless nature. The landscape of a fairy tale is often dreamlike, as if to tell us trying to apply normal logic to the story will only confuse the point that the storyteller is trying to make. Fairy tales usually involve dangerous journeys, often following after or searching for a wayward loved one, and entail a getting lost in the mists of time and space. The climax is almost always the discovery of a heretofore unknown inner store of courage in the face of evil and imminent death. Fairy tales tell our child
