So I've been thinking about writing this for awhile, and recently I noticed a lot of people are commenting in ways that can make the artist feel uncomfortable.
This journal is about commenting etiquette.
If you comment like this I'm not mad. Please don't feel like im targeting anyone or anything- it's just something I've noticed a ton of people do.
to start out, I'd like to show you some of the types of comments I see A LOT
the self-pity comment
"This is really pretty. I'll never be able to draw like this I'm awful at drawing"
this is the most awkward way to get attention- the artist feels pressured to give you attention and compliment you. This can be super hard on the artist.
INSTEAD, make it positive!
"This is really pretty.

Contest: The Lost BBA PageEdit: Thank you to everyone who has entered so far. The entries look great! its very fun to read them. Im going to be judging and posting entries and results Sunday (9th) evening. So, if youre putting finishing touches on your entry - please try to get it to me before then!Contest: The Lost BBA Page1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Making comics is fun, and everybody can do it, but sometimes a long epic story can be daunting, so maybe you keep putting off starting a comic. How about some practice on a 1 page scene?
Was there ever a scene you thought would be cool and really wanted to be in the BBA comic?
Illustrate a 1 page scene that takes place in the BBA world and has at least 1 BBA character in it. The plot, medium and style are entirely up to you. You may incorporate your own OCs into it too. Absolutely no experience necessary, it's even better if you've never attempted a comic page before!
To enter, please send me a note with subject "contest entry" linking me to your comic.
Deadline will February 7th.
Updates for April 1stLooks like my April Fools joke went over pretty well. I was quite surprised to see the response, honestly! Was it the most original prank in the books? Absolutely not, but considering that I usually ignore April Fools Day and that people STILL believed it, I think it's alright. Sometimes the oldest jokes are the best and it's not like this was a contest trying to outdo everyone around me. Just having some fun for a change, which is something I need to do more often.Updates for April 1st3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Also, it shows how many people actually followed the link. Anyone who read the journal and followed the link to the trolololo song would've known it was a joke. But it seems a LOT of people didn't bother doing that, hehe.
Speaking of April Fools though, did you know that it was 4 years ago today that I began the Alex Ze Pirate web series? April 1st, 2008 was the day I began posting short one page gags involving my pirate characters on SheezyArt. It's kinda hard to believe it's only been 4 years as so much has happened since
everyone look at this and appreciate my janitorSo for the past few weeks my school janitor has been drawing on our cafeteria's whiteboard to remind kids to clean up after themselves. Apparently his drawings got really popular online, which makes me really happy for him! Perhaps you've already seen these pictures, or maybe not, but regardless, I will post them here and make you look at them again. >u>everyone look at this and appreciate my janitor2 years ago in Personal More Like This
One Two Three
There have been many misinterpretations regarding the drawings that I've read...most being along the lines of, "Those kids probably don't know those characters", "Those are at a high school? Why aren't they vandalized?", and, "This janitor probably doesn't even get appreciated".

Each month we would like to feature one of the many gifted Christian artists in christians. Our artist of the month is DouglasRamsey. In a world where traditional painters are a rare breed, Douglas Ramsey's Biblical paintings are like a breath of fresh air. His motivation and humility are an example to all of us who desire to serve God with our art. We hope that you enjoy reading his thoughts.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview! First we would like to ask, How did you get started and why did you come to love art?
I started drawing when I was about three years old, like everybody. As far back as I can remember people have complimented me on my drawing ability, although looking at those early drawings today, I’m not sure exactly why. They seem like the kind of stuff you’d expect from any child. Anyway, I heard it o
Chuck Jones Quotes on Characters"If you start with character, you probably will end up with good drawings."Chuck Jones Quotes on Characters2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"As you become acquainted with a character you are creating, you add parts of yourself that are pertinent to that character."
"Each character represented a trait that resides in me."
"I have come to know Bugs so well that I no longer have to think about what he is doing in any situation. I let the part of me that is Bugs come to the surface, knowing, with regret, that I can never match his marvelous confidence."
"The whole essence of good drawing—and of good thinking, perhaps—is to work a subject down to the simplest form possible and still have it believable for what it is meant to be."
~Chuck Jones, director, animator, cartoonist, and cocreator of characters we know today as the Looney Tunes
I got trolled last year about how you should not pour traits of people you know or yourself into your characters. It makes it too personal, they said. It's unprofessional and stupi
The worst gay rights argumentsAs the title implies, I'm going to look at the "gay-rights" arguments that really scrape the bottom of the barrel. I hope that whatever side of the debate your on, you can agree that these arguments don't hold water. To emphasize this, I'm going to try to sound as neutral as possible. The worst gay rights arguments1 year ago in Personal More Like This
1. Separation of Church and State is in the Constitution. So you can't use Christian morality to outlaw same-sex marriage.
This argument stems from a misunderstanding of what Separation of Church and State is. The phrase appears nowhere in the Constitution. It was in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to a church that was worried Jefferson would force his Deism on the churches. Jefferson assured them the first amendment would protect their freedom. So the question is, what does the first amendment do? It prevents the government from establishing a state religion. Outlawing same-sex marriage does not establish a religion. It doesn't for
Atheism (Why the attraction?)First, let me say up front that this article has not been written to condemn atheists, agnostics, or others who simply choose not to believe in a higher power. Rather, it will attempt to explain why disbelief is on the increase worldwide, and what factors have contributed to the increase. Organized religion is as old as mankind, and the earliest written records discovered by archaeologists in the area of Mesopotamia are generally of a political or religious nature. Indeed, the earliest books of the Bible are estimated by scholars to be have been written about 3,500 years ago. There is a wonderful book that I own entitled "Mankind's search for God," which you can obtain by asking for it from any one of Jehovah's Witnesses. It discusses all of the major religious systems of the world; their origins, their beliefs. It's quite fascinating. In any case, the question in the title suggests that more and more informed persons are embracing disbeliAtheism (Why the attraction?)1 year ago in Personal More Like This

It was banned in America in 1915, but distillation and sale resumed in USA and Europe in the 1990s. It’s a spirit produced from the flowers and leaves of the wormwood plant. Anise, fennel and other “medicinal herbs” are blended in according to secret formulas of different distillers. Who drank absinthe? Hemingway, Baudelaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud, Toulouse–Lautrec, Van Gogh, Modigliani, Picasso, Oscar Wilde and occultist Aleister Crowley. Why were writers, poets and painters so ardent for this drink? Its secret is trace amounts of terpene thujone, reputed to induce clarity of

The year’s best naturally-occurring light show, the Leonids meteor shower, is due overhead on the nights of November 15 - 20. The passing comet “Tempel-Tuttle” leaves a debris field of meteoroid particles in its wake each year that the Earth will spin through on those nights. Larger “Leonids,” about 10 mm across, have a mass of half a gram and are known for their brightness. The Leonid shower may deposit 13 tons of particles across our planet. The Leonid meteor storm of 1833 may have been the biggest, brightest ever, producing an estimated 240,000 meteoroids entering our atmosphere over 9 hours. Both Nati

Zombie by liliesformary
Giallo is Italian for yellow… and Horror
In the wake of the real life horrors meted out on Italians during World War II, brutalized by Mussolini and then by Nazi occupation and then having their country used as one great battleground chessboard between Nazis and the invading U.S. and Allied forces, there was for a long time little appetite for horror in movies. It wasn’t until 1956 that the first genuine horror film (a vampire story) was produced and released. It bombed, soundly rejected by the public. The film would be of little note

A series of private pools suggests the 1968 Burt Lancastar film, “The Swimmer,” (based on a John Cheever story) in which a man decides to swim a “river” of backyard swimming pools in an affluent neighborhood to make his way home. Along the way, encounters with his neighbors produce a soul–crushing epiphany that he is not nearly the beloved, respected, successful man he had deluded himself into believing.

Being able to concentrate on your path but at the same time finding time to do other things, without being curbed by your work and keeping your mind open to new ideas.
There's not a unique recipe for everyone, and this is maybe a useful thing to think about.

Next time someone tells you "I was born this way" remind them of what God said,
"Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to ALL men because all sinned..." Romans 5:12 ESV
"for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17 (NIV)
Being "born this way" does not justify you... it simply demonstrates that you were born as a sinner and YOU need God... Come to HIM today.

Alrighty. Cause I'm one of those corny types, I want to do something special for the 1-year anniversary for Portal 2. I figured it would make it a group effort, as all of us have been part of this one year period of testing. So, you know what that means? That's right!
Collaborative Testing Effort!
Or... collaborative art effort... Whichever.
Anyway, what I'm getting at, is we're going to do another big collab. This one will have NO participation limit, so everyone is free to join in! What we're going to do is a collab where everyone draws themselves as test subjects. Here's the sketch for the background that I have in mind: http://i44.tinypic.com/2m4w0f5.png
I'll make it however long as I'll need to, depending on how many people I get.
However, here are few rules/guidelines for submission:
1. Only ONE submission per person
2. Only draw YOURSELF in the picture. No Cores or Cakes or Cubes with you. I'll be decorating some of the negative space with notable
