Celebrating Diversity #36The idea behind the Celebrating Diversity Project is to share deviations outside of our area of comfort and explore art we usually don't see. So today, I decided to venture into the Stock Photography gallery and you know what I discovered? That there are some stock photographs, which by nature are intended for other artists to use, as reference or for derivative works, etc. that are truly masterpieces just by themselves!Celebrating Diversity #361 year ago in Art Features More Like This

- Ansel Adams
When photography was first created it was used primarily for portraits. It was not yet mobile and therefore could not yet be used in genres like landscape or journalism. Portrait painters at the time felt that photography was not legitimately artistic, and this spurred the "Pictorialist" photographic movement. In defense of their art, Pictorialists depicted subjects with soft visual effects and artistic poses. At the beginning of the twentieth century a man named Paul Strand countered the "Pictorialist" movement stating that it was too apologetic, and did not take advantage of the new medium.
Paul Strand was an American Modernist photographer leading the drive to establish photography as a valid form of fine art. However, he did not believe that all forms of photography held artistic value. His argument was based on the idea - central to modernist art, of 'trut
Mesti Datang! The HobbyCon 2013 Experience!Earlier this year, my friends and I were invited to be overseas guests for HobbyCon in Sabah, Malaysia.Mesti Datang! The HobbyCon 2013 Experience!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Time flew by very fast, and before we knew it...
Our first day was spent doing a lot of eating, thanks to our guide Alyssa I will justify it as us fueling up for an action-packed weekend! We tried nasi lemak for the first time (LOVED IT), had some shaved ice desserts after, then a big dinner of clay pot rice, stir-fry noodles with clams, really tasty chicken wings, etc. and THEN we still raided Pick N' Pay for our midnight snacks because we love convenience stores and we wanted to try things we don't have in Manila.
We planned our cosplays ahead with Team Kachang Puteh, the guests from Singapore. Our theme for the first day of HobbyCon was Shingeki no Kyojin!

Smoothing, Sanding, & Buffing Polymer ClaySmoothing, Sanding, and Buffing polymer clay is definately something that you don't hear a lot about in the younger polymer clay community, but it certainly does make your pieces look a lot better in the long run. If you smooth, sand, and buff your clay AND add a layer of varnish - watch out, your pieces will look as bright, beautiful and glossy as a piece of delicious candy.Smoothing, Sanding, & Buffing Polymer Clay6 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Have you ever noticed that translucent clay really isn't THAT translucent? Well, if you smooth, sand, and buff it - you'll be seeing differently! It really DOES get see-through!
Give these tips a try, and although I can't guarantee that you will get it right the first time, practice makes perfect, and sometimes new techniques take a little getting used to before you find a way that works the best for you.
Smoothing your clay is what you do to your clay before you bake it. Running your fingers along the surface and smoothing out bumps and impurities can work wonders on a piece and give it a ve
Free! Iwatobi Swim Club cosplay shoot outtakes! When my friends and I first heard of "that swimming anime" called Free!, this is pretty much what we expected:Free! Iwatobi Swim Club cosplay shoot outtakes!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Not that there's anything wrong with that hahah, but all we were expecting was to be able to laugh at how exploitable and full of fanservice this show could be because swimming would require everyone to be half-naked. Although it started out that way, the more episodes we watched, the more we realized...
We were wrong. So wrong.
What we got was a heartwarming coming-of-age story with endearing characters and interesting dynamics. It spoke of friendship and learning your self-worth and figuring out what drives you forward.
I'd write more about how I feel about it but it would take up too much time and space over here, so here are a couple of posts that have already done the job well:
1. A detailed literary analysis and trope driven deconstruction of H

Okumura Yukio: Make-up TutorialAs mentioned and as promised from my previous journal entry, I bring you this Yukio make-up tutorial! 8D (This can also be used for other characters with big, gentle eyes like Yukio's )Okumura Yukio: Make-up Tutorial2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, before I begin, I'd like to remind everyone that make-up styles may look different depending on one's face shape, eye shape, etc.. Having said that, I am not promising that this tutorial will work for everyone. It's up to you to alter styles to fit your own features and to fit your own needs (for example, I have oily skin, so I don't use BB cream anymore before putting on everything else, because it will just make me oilier after a few hours XD)
So anyhoooo, LET THE YUKIO-FICATION BEGIN! :iconimhappiestplz:
NOTE: I am not a professional make-up artist, so I am not claiming that this is the best way to do this and that. My friends and I learned from trial and error
Step 1. Start with a clean canvas! 8D Wash off all that grime and oil and dirt from the urban jungle out
Thoughts on Cosplay FundingWe feel so horribly uneasy about the new "cosplay funding" trend. I want to state first: yes, of course everyone has the right to spend their hard earned money the way he/she wants. And some people want simply to support the cosplayers they appreciate, which I also can understand very well. But the more I see this trend expanding, the more uncomfortable I feel.Thoughts on Cosplay Funding1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You know, in our eyes, it really depends on a project. Raising a money for a cosplay calendar to help sick kids? Sure. Raising money to produce a calendar for cosplay lovers? Of course. Raising money for a high-quality documentary about cosplay which will represent this hobby really well? Nice.
But to us, this line also ends somewhere here. We think that you can ask for big sums of money to create something unique, but then again, you really should be able to create it. Otherwise it's not justified in our eyes. And then again, what is a big sum of money?
I get that if you want to print a calendar, it may be around 1000-150
MythBuster - Busting the Myth of Cosplay StandardsLast week, I was left to ponder over a passing comment that I found on my Facebook newsfeed. What if Charles Darwin's theory of evolution was wrong? What if instead of evolving, people are de-evolving? For this I was looking into the perspective of what if people instead of becoming smarter end up being dumber.MythBuster - Busting the Myth of Cosplay Standards3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Such had been the case that I witness among the newcomers in the community, not only the cosplayers but the event organizers and judges as well. It seems to me that the over-enthusiasm for the share of the pie in terms of "imaginary fame" has cause them to make the most nonsensical and illogical arguments to gain credibility among the community. Sadly to say, it seems such comments are gaining in popularity and seen as the "standard" of cosplay.
It is about time get some myth about cosplay standard busted.
Myth #1: The more photos you have taken at an event/convention, the better you are in cosplay
There are many variations of this myth such as "the amount of favs for your Devia
Why I don't want to study something art related..."What are you studying?"Why I don't want to study something art related...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Media and Business Psychology."
"Whaaat? Why don't you study design or something like that? You are such a talented artist!!"
Yeah, this kind of dialogue I've had so often.
I won't make a full career in art since art should be a hobby and no duty.
I had art as major subject in school and this showed me art can be annoying too, when I don't feel like drawing but I have to.
There are some days I don't feel like drawing at all, days I can't even take a pencil in my hands.
Of course, statistic isn't a thing I like but I have to learn it for my studies. So many numbers! -.-
But since I am strongly connected with my art, I don't want to lose my fun and passion, if I get sick of it.
Drawing can be a really hard work, a detailled picture takes me around 10 to 15 hours but it's much easier for me, if I have fun while drawing.
And anyway, I want to draw for myself mainly and I want to decide what to draw.
And not to mention, the Manga Style isn't really popular in art s
COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!Hi guys!! Thank you as always to all watchers and everyone who faves and comments - I'm so sorry I don't have much time these days to reply to everything, but I definitely do read and appreciate them all!COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I've been asked so many times I've lost count to put together a makeup tutorial on how I do my cos makeup - and I finally did it!
I hope this is a little helpful, although some disclaimers - I have Caucasian features, so my makeup will be very different to someone with a different face shape. I use a lot of eyemakeup, much more than a lot of people, just because I do lol. My eyes a pretty big naturally, so I line them right up the edge, as opposed to widening the eye by drawing further out. A few things like that to bear in mind ^_^ That said, hope you enjoy! *chu*
Any questions please feel free to ask!

Project: Satisfy 1,000 Deviants.Hello and welcome to my Project fellow deviants.Project: Satisfy 1,000 Deviants.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll get straight to the point. I have started a Project which is called "Satisfy 1,000"
What is the Project about?
The aim of the project is to collect 1,000 Points by the end of this year. When the amount gets collected it will be distributed to 1,000 fellow deviants.
What I want is, to help other deviants experience the joy of receiving points. There are many deviants who would just love to receive a single point. Instead of giving away points to please 10-50 Deviants why not make everyone happy? Instead of making a contest or giveaway why not just make everyone feel that they've won something? The joy of receiving points is great, I've experienced it and that's why I want people to feel that same joy of receiving points.
How can we help you?
You can help me with the Project by donating Points, I currently have 7,500 Points.
Any amount of points is appreciated and welcome. I hope that before 2013, I with the help of everyone here can

I will made Christmas gift for you all and explain it C: Its not that hard as it seems.
When I write Kirana e-mail what she need to take for this shoot, it was something like "You need 1 pound of floor and 10 small balloons. No. 20 are better." So, how it was done? We put water in 2 balloons and Kirana stand still, Ten and Fei pop balloons with needles after mine "1,2,3!!!" and in that second I took photos. Easy and hard at the same time.
I will give few advices. We tried to use stick with needle, but it was too lame. It made only a small hole and water pop out like...well...it wasnt cool at all. So much better do it with hands using some strength. Also its really hard for mode
Forum Features #35 - August: Cake!Once again, the Community Relations team is here to feature the artworks of deviantART's beloved forumers!Forum Features #35 - August: Cake!1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Once a month, we select one active member from the forums and we feature his or her gallery. This is someone we believe represents the forums well with both good forum-abilities and art.
As we're kind (and awesome), we also decided to give an opportunity for everybody to get featured! Every month, we create a thread in the Deviation Thumbshare Forum with a particular theme. This thread is made into a sticky for easy access. All you have to do is post thumbs of your artwork that match the theme and, at the end of the month, we select our favorite thumbs from that thread and feature them in the next news article.
The best thing is that being an active member of the forums is the only requirement!

400 Point Giveaway (COMPLETED)Hello Fellow Deviants!400 Point Giveaway (COMPLETED)1 month ago in Personal More Like This
I'm going to do my 1st and hopefully continues point giveaway.
The way this will work.
#1) Please watch -- but only if you enjoy my work (not a requirement to practicpate in the draw) Its highly encouraged though but wont increase chances of winning cause that's a random draw.
#2) Fav this journal.. That is a requirement because I will use it to pool in the participants into a draw.
#3) Read the first 2 rules.
The countdown will work based on entries when we have 125 Favs to this journal that means 125 participants. Will start a 48 Hour Count Down to the Draw.. At 48 Hours.. Will close participation and update journal with everyone name and number! Everyone who is in the draw will be posted on here with a #.. There is no secret way to the numbers.. I'll just pull all the names and assign 1 - 2 - 3 etc..
After the names have been posted 2 Draws will be done using Random.Org. I will Screen Shot them so that people will see that this took place. At specific time and
