this year that will end soon has been a one of the most wonderful experiences I have had, all those dreams and thoughts of being a real artist have been fulfilled after a year taking multiple classes meeting amazing artists, I could have never dream of metting, friends with the same passion and drive, motivation to keep me going for forever, I've found all of that, in one year adventure.
the previous year I said I wanted to be a concept artist and that was my goal, but I've found that I can't stop exploring and trying new things, which has changed they way I do my artwork and made me see that animation art is where I want to go, and where i'm going, amazing artist like Shyoon Kim, Tron Mai, Jay Oliva, Mark McDonnell, Andrew Cawrse and many more have influenced my life in a way I never though before it could happen.
SO, what happen at the end. I've found m

Both are true. Lately, i've fallen in love with this show called "Battle for dream island" Seriously. Watch it. It's a short series on Youtube that's a lot like Total drama island- except, replace all the characters with talking objects and you've got the idea. I literally went on a archive binge yesterday, it is so amazing. Anywhay, I came across this video while I was snooping around Jacknjellify's youtube:
My mouth literally dropped. This guy, this guy right here- he did it. He accomplished what I always wanted to do (make a cartoon series), and even became famous!!
And you know why?
He didn't give up.
Back around the same time this came out, I also had a little comic book series. Okay, not little- I'd finished writing and drawing 26 episodes

Hyping It Up Before It Exists
A lot of people will put up promotional artwork, covers, character references, and other related work for their comic before putting up a single page. People often say if you want to write a book or you want to lose weight, it's best that you not tell anyone. When you tell someone you plan on doing something, they will praise you for it. The problem is, you are now receiving praise for something you haven't actually done yet. You don't have to work for that praise; the mere act of saying you will do something rewards you the same external way you would get for actually doing it. Sadly the result is many people are content to stop there. It's not even a conscious decision, but a lot of people will get caught up in the hype without realizing how hard making a comic actually is. Hold off putting up anything related to your comic until you at least have a few pages up; it wil

It is widely known that many famous artists, composer, and authors have had the frustration of having a work they felt was sub-par gain huge popularity while pieces they worked harder on and adore sat un-noticed. This is the same for everyday deviants. I recently ran a poll asking for deviants to share with me their thoughts on this and share their own art. Here are some of the answers--the first piece being the most faved and the second being the one they wished had more love. More will be featured in future articles. Thanks so much for being a great friend and dealing with my horrible art XD and also making our conversations always interesting.
SilverTidalWave, although she has been inactive on DeviantART for a while, her writing is spectacular and exemplarily good, especially when you take into account her age. Her writing well exceeds that of those older than her, her first few stories on DA were published when she was 13 and they are just wonderful. I cannot give enough praise for SilverTidalWave's writing, and also, she is a wonderful visual artist as well as being pretty enough to be a model and she is, above all, a wonderful friend.
I think you're the most awesome person ever, Pie, and I wish I could talk to you more

As many of you have noticed, the Literature gallery gets a huge influx of fan fiction submissions. We're hoping that by having Fan Fiction under the Literature umbrella, the number of miscats in the overall gallery will drop. And, for those of us who frequent both galleries, it'll simplify submitting and finding work.
Of course, we can't cut down on miscats without your help! Please spread the word by favoriting and sharing this journal, and by moving any of your own submissions as appropriate.
Not sure whether your submission counts as fan fiction? :faq572:
(Note that gallery updates for both Literature and Fan Fiction is in the works. Please continue to use the category that best fits your work.)
You're welcome to bring your concerns to us at any time!

PE: Telling Stories with your ArtStorytelling and art were good friends for thousands of years until they had a fight and split in the late 19th century. Paintings that told stories often followed old academic traditions and were rejected by modernist artists. In some ways, the old traditions could be limiting and did not allow free creativity. Because of this, storytelling, or “narrative” was knocked off it’s pedestal in fine art and though most ideas and movements of the past 50 years in art have come full circle, we still have a tenuous relationship with telling stories in our artwork. Concept has become incredibly important in fine art. I have nothing against concept art, in fact a lot of my own work is very concept driven, but I believe that narrative is not being given its due.PE: Telling Stories with your Art1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Once regarded as “lowbrow” comics and illustration are gaining respect in high art. Yet, beyond the “art world” images that tell stories are quickly becoming more relevant than even written word.
Custom Breaking Bad FiguresCustom Breaking Bad Figures3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last year I sculpted up a few portraits of Bryan Cranston as Walter White from my favorite show "Breaking Bad". I was finally able to put the finishing touches on 3 custom figures of Walt, all of which were given to the creators of the show this past week.
It's been a helluva lot of fun, and a tremendous thrill to get to meet the artists behind this terrific show that has been so inspiring to me. Kinder people you will not meet!
So here's a look at the finished custom figures. These were pieced together from various sources, using Hot Toys bodies, and clothes I found on ebay and then altered. The heads were all painted by some talented friends of mine, and they really brought Walt to life. It's been a lot of work to try and piece these together in my free time, but I really enjoyed doing it.
ps- A random winner was chosen from my last giveaway. I'll do another giveaway in the coming months, I'm sure. thanks!
You're undervaluing yourself. In your country, or in your state, what's the minimum wage? Back when I worked as a minimum wage lifeguard and swim instructor, I was paid $7.50/hr, minus tax. You're undervaluing yourself.10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Now, how much time do you spend on your art? Personally, I can spend anywhere from ten hours to over forty, as I did on my last manipulation of that feather monster. Let's assume though, that you aren't nearly as meticulous as I am, and you can get a piece done in four hours. Assuming you're paid what minimum wage was in Illinois four years ago, that means you'd be paid $30.
How many of you actually charge $30 or more per manipulation?
How many of you think that you deserve minimum wage?
Minimum wage is generally reserved for those who are new at their work. They have little to no experience, they generally have few bills... really, they just need to gain work experience to put on their resumé, plus make some cash to buy some fun things they may want, or perhaps start saving for college and buy some gas

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Anime & Manga half of this week!
Today Gwendolyn12 and me are going to explain the different categories of the Anime & Manga Gallery.
Since this Gallery has 2 different main categories the Gallery Overview is split in 2 articles.
In my article I will explain you our Digital Media category including the sub-categories. The Traditional Media category will be explained later by Gwendolyn12!
What is Anime & Manga?
Anime is based of the word Animation. These are Japanese animated productions usually featuring hand-drawn or computer animations. When you talk about an Animation in Manga style. That's Anime.
But what is Manga? With Manga you mainly mean a comic book created in Japan. But this word is used for regula

It doesn't feel that long - but in a few more years I'll have been on this site for half my life. Sheesh!
I've improved so much having an audience to show work to, even if the point of the work wasn't an audience - just having a platform from which I could do anything at all has been really amazing for me over the years.
And then... PMD-e... which has been a really tremendous learning experience for me (and others!), in so many ways. I don't want to turn this journal sappy or anything, but I've been lucky to have met so many people and have gotten the chance to help create a community with its ups and downs.
And... speaking of such...
I'll be making a journal later about the state of PMD-e right now - I know the updates have been sporadic, and this has been for a few reasons. I've been thinking about how to word things for a few days now, and I don't think I've quite gotten it yet.
Anyway, for those of you who've been around since

"Just be yourself. Draw what you want, write and photograph what you feel like! No one shall force you. c: Just because a piece of artwork isn´t perfect, doesn´t mean it´s bad. Don´t be sad because you know someone viewed your art but didn´t favorite it. Not everyone likes to favorite everything they see on dA. Trust me. There´s lots of art I enjoy viewing but which I don´t favorite! Just because someone gave you 2 out of 5 stars on a critique doesn´t mean that your art hasn´t got great values, nor does it mean that no one can appreciate your art when looking so strictly at it!"That was a short take from the journal above. I seriously recommend everyone to read it. It was a good read. ^__^
Protecting Yourself Against ScamsHello everybody! Here I am typing this to protect yourself of events like such.Protecting Yourself Against Scams6 months ago in Personal More Like This
But what could I be talking about?
There are some that have heard about this event to many famous artists, it's best that there be no name calling!
As observing this event everything did get fixed, thank god, but there's no telling when it could happen again, and you yourself wouldn't know what to do.
This is not to scare you from doing commissions! Please don't feel discouraged. This is only for your sake, guys.

We’ve all had at least one special book that we’ve loved and reread but when it comes to books that have defined and influenced us that list becomes much smaller. On most peoples lists J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic work The Lord of The Rings would be at the top of the list.
