About Artists on Writers
Writers will always find inspiration in the visions of artists, always feeling compelled to tell the stories behind the moments captured in artists’ unforgettable images,
Artists will always find inspiration in the words of writers, always feeling compelled to lend visual reality and habitat to the characters described in the scribe’s haunting words.
Critics consider Maya Angelou’s most important writing to be her seven autobiographies, thinly disguised as novels, beginning with
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969). The depiction of her childhood rape, com

So according to the poll most people said they'd like the idea of creating a school-like group. Some of them wanted it to be a serious, well organized group and that is what me and my friends decided to do.
:icondaversity: is a free of any charge group teaching how to create OC's (original characters) and environment they exist in. We help you to create credible world or improve your skills in drawing.
I encourage you to apply
Where the idea came from:
In the past I was teaching teens and children in Poland to draw. But it was different, traditional and I didn't use tutorials to teach (just fist :iconimveryhappyplz:. Then I went where they paid me more, to the journals, publishing houses etc. And guess what. I ended up on DA doing commissions and I always felt very comfortable here, that comfortable that I decided to share my knownledge in some teaching groups. But sadly non of them was the group I was looking for:
Thank YouHey everyone, I just wanted to say thank you to all for all the awesome comments on my recent animations. I didn't think traditional animation had a fan base anymore but with all the support I got recently it's something I definitely want to pursue more. I've always been a follower of the traditional ways of animation and it makes me happy seeing that there are others out there that still love it too. I will be continuing to add to my sword fighting series as I want it to be one long short. I'm already working on part 3! By the end I hope to add at least lineart BG's and more effects. I don't think I'll color it as it will take a long time in Flash and I always liked the black and white of pencil tests'.Thank You8 months ago in Personal More Like This
For those of you out there in school or who also have dreams of becoming animators; don't be afraid to pursue your ambitions. The industry may look like it's favoring CG animation right now but there will always be a place for tradi

Literary Compass - Vol. 6WelcomeLiterary Compass - Vol. 62 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
If one is looking for Literature, you don't need to go far on deviantART. There is a large community of writers and a plethora of work to peruse. Featuring genres such as fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance, one would be hard-pressed to find an area not covered. However, due to the nature of the site, shorter works tend to get more focus. It's easier to quickly read a poem or a short story, and thus many of the feature articles on dA showcase those works. However, there are many novelists and serial writers among the mix, oftentimes fighting an uphill battle to have their works seen and appreciated.
With that in mind, I have started an article to spotlight some of those artists and their literary-worlds. The works covered in this feature will exclusively be long-form fiction such as novels, trilogies, etc., or fiction serials.

The next stop on our Literary journey is the fantasy world of Cantania created by
My 3d Character Art for Games video tutorials! In collaboration with CGCircuit, a new site that allows you to monetize your own instructional content, I just released the first two videos in my four part series about 3d Character Art.My 3d Character Art for Games video tutorials!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You can find the videos here:
VOLUME 1: Introduction & High Res Modeling Theory - ~1.5 hours - FREE
VOLUME 2: High Res Modeling Application - ~2 hours - $6.99
VOLUME 3: Modeling for Games (Retopo, UV, Baking) - COMING SOON!
VOLUME 4: Texturing and Model Presentation - COMING SOON!
My intention is to create instructional content for the aspiring character artist who already knows the basics, but still struggles with getting professional results. My hope is to elaborate more on the artistic side of character art rather than showing technical tricks (although there will be some of that as well).
I've spent a lot of time putting these videos together myself, and the last two are in the works

Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 62 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu

Why I Don't Read FantasyLately I've been feeling that many fantasy authors say nothing (especially not anything new or imaginative) with their writing, and do so in as many words as possible. Why I Don't Read Fantasy2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Fantasy seems to be the only genre where people will be content to read about nothing for over a thousand pages.
I don't think I'm merely deluded by deviantART's sub-par selection, although it certainly has made an impression on my opinion. If you pick up a fantasy novel off the shelf in a bookstore, chances are the prose will be terrible, the characters will be charicatures at best, and the main point of the story will be to entertain you (which isn't really a bad thing if that's all you're really looking to get out of a book; but if you are looking for more, then it is a large waste of time reading fantasy).
Am I missing something here? Can anyone point out to me a fantasy novel I may enjoy? (So far all I can think of is perhaps Conan the Barbarian--it's on my To Read List, and there mostly for entertainment.)

There are endless stories about such supernatural beings. Some are rather famous, some totally unknown. Todays dArp shows you just a few artworks dedicated to those. It's up to you, to show us more! And maybe share your favourite myth/legend with us as well.

Right now I am blaming it on the horribly long, and bitterly cold, winter we have had here and am hoping that now that we are getting some spring weather things will turn around for me! Here is hoping! XD
If you want to keep up with me another way, I have started posting again on my tumblr gnewi-art.tumblr.com again. I have, and will be, posting my WIPs there.

How to stay MotivatedHow to stay Motivated. How to stay Motivated4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I’m writing this article for the type of people who say that just can’t find motivation to:
Make a portfolio
Finish a painting
Work on their personal project
I got three tips I’m about to write, and it’s just advice and things that I found useful for myself. If you are capable to do any of these things you should definitely try them.
Fear. Get rid of it. If you are fearful of the outcome it will unmotivate you immediately. Just finish whatever it is and think about how you can improve after. If you can’t see what you need to improve ask someone else to tell you. There is always room to improve, and if you go into a critique with an open mind you will grow exponentially.
Think of it like this. If you were running one lap, and half way through you stopped because you were afraid you were going to throw up or pass out, you will never really know how fast you can run that lap. You didn’t push yours

Appreciation and some advice for beginnersI have had this journal in mind for quite a long time, thinking I will find a time to write it down after I find a job (so that I can give 'advice' as a professional ). I've been less active in the past weeks since I was on a probation in a game company and I thought I would make it this time, unfortunately today I was told I have to go back to job hunting again. Anyway I'm not gonna wait any longer since some of my fellow deviants have been asking for advice for a long time.Appreciation and some advice for beginners1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Before I start – my apologies if some points in this journal are not clear because of language, I am not a native English speaker.
I'm not giving these advice as a professional or an elite artist (I hope I was!), just sharing my learning experience and some personal understanding of conceptual design and arts. Please ignore or correct me if I got things wrong.
Ok. Some related information about myself – I studied computing at university, in my final year I found myself really lack of interests in programming or
