Kabuto set out in the evening, after the last elderly costumer left the shop. Weren’t murkrows more active at night? She slung a loose, brown bag over her shoulder and locked up the store. Well, too bad. She could handle a few birds just fine. Maybe even a whole swarm, no problem. She hoped.

The way to the forest was fairly straight forward: Take a taxi out of Lumiose City was the most complicate part. After that, the path of trees and spare grass was open before you. Taking in a breath, Kabuto straightened her sweater before loosening her hair ribbon and stuffing it into the bag safely. She would hate for it to snag on anything, especially during a battle. Trekking through the forest, she turned back occasionally to check on the sunset. Soon, it would be dark, and she may have to spend a night in the forest… As cold and tough as she appeared, she still liked having a roof over her head. Alas, the zigzagoon needed help, and Kabuto was more than willing to give it.

The light began to fade considerably quickly, but the sun was still up. She walked deeper into the forest, and began to notice the trail becoming harder to travel. Travelers were scarce at this point, most sticking to the main, wider path. A piercing ‘CAW’ broke the constant murmuring of bugs and wind, and Kabuto started up at the canopy above. The murkrow nest was up ahead, she saw, and the sun cast a shadow on the groups of birds huddled together, chirping and nipping at each other. She switched the ditteh off and crouched on the ground, the bag now large against her small dragon body. Climbing up the nearest tree, she managed to gain a better view of the birds’ nests.

Circular homes made out of twigs and leaves were scattered throughout multiple trees, the branches undiscernible from one another. At the largest tree, however, small glimmers caught the sun’s fading light. The treasures were all there, whether stolen or found. Kabuto made her way toward the wide nest, holding her breath steady and being as stealthy as possible. On the right, a glimmer of maroon red caught her eyes, and she glanced before noticing it to be a murkrow watching her. It opened its beak and let out a ‘CAW’ that rang through the nearby forest.

Loud flutter and rustles vibrated through the trees, and Kabuto found herself jumping from tree to tree recklessly. Just reach the largest nest… Almost there… Black, fast moving forms chased behind her, screaming and yelling words such as “THIEF THIEF!” “INVADER!” “GET OUT OH GET OUT!”

“They don’t belong here!” Was the best she could reply with before reaching the nest and quickly gathering all the objects she could (Did they all belong to the zigzagoon? No matter). Stuffing them into her duffle bag, she evaded the first of the birds’ pecks against her scarred back. Her armor protected her, for the most part, and with no other route of escape, she leapt off the tree. Grabbing onto a nearby scarf, she swung toward the forest floor, littered with branches and pebbles. She felt a gust of wings descending behind her, and swung her stubby arms back, scratching the closest birds with dragon claw. That would scare them off for a bit, Kabuto was sure. The landing was rough and involved a few rolls, back onto the ground, but hopping back up, the fraxure was in her human form. Taking longer strides than she otherwise would have, the dragon girl slung the bag over her shoulder and made a beeline out of the nest of crying birds.

The light was fading. Soon, soon… The dragon kept on running, feeling her human lungs working and her longer legs taking careless strides. A final gasp of light, and the sun sunk below the horizon. Time to go home, home, home… Home. The forest silenced around her, and she felt her run turning into a jog, then  a walk, then rest. It was night time. She went home in the night.

I tried to go for more of a story book feel in this picture asldkfha;ld Not sure how it went. I think I'm getting into white lines these days or something ._. Or Kabuto's colors are so dark, white lines just look better? Also included a honchkrow in there because I thought it'll be cute aslkdf;sld

Since this was a light week in terms of art due to work I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a little more fun....

Does anyone else find it funny that Red had a Jolteon as his electric type in Pokemon: The Origin? Heck, he didn't even appear to have CAUGHT A Pikachu until his little capture montage in the fourth part and yet we all know Pikachu to be Red's trademark Pokemon in virtually EVERY incarnation. Normally, this is the type of thing I could see people complaining about: "Waaah! It's not the 'real' Red!" and yet no one seems to have said anything because they all praise it for being better than the mainstream anime.

Fans. Are. Fickle.
