Symbol(s) for the non Premium DeviantsHello my Ryceballs. So eversince DA's recent symbol changes, I have been hearing a lot of complaints. Mostly about how regular non premium members don't even get a symbol. It makes them feel like they are not important. Its ok I hear ya I hear ya. And you know me, I am all about the people. Ry-Spirit cares. So I thought about this a lot and try to think of an appropriate symbol that best suits our non premium friends, at the end I came up with a symbol... WELL I say a symbol but its more like a string of symbols. I feel like this is the only option for it to work. And I have used myself as an example of what the symbols would look like if I am in fact a regular deviant. Ok please look below.Symbol(s) for the non Premium Deviants1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Nintendo 4DSForget the 2DS! This is better! The newly announced Nintendo 4DS. Good news from Nintendo just keeps on coming! So much Nintendo goodness! Wow, like just wow. Nintendo is on fire at the moment. A tech demo showed Pokemon Xandy being played on the 4DS, when you get hit by a Squirtle the 4DS squirts water at your face, when you get hit by a Charmander the 4DS burns your finger and when you get hit by a Pikachu the 4DS electric shock your fingers. Just make sure you don't let an Electrode do a Selfdestruct on you as your whole console will explode!Nintendo 4DS1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Alleyway IncidentHiya Ryceballs. I left out something on my previous journal, something I kinda wanted to talk about but was a bit scared to... But I have decided that maybe its better to get it off my chest. This is a true story and it happened two weeks ago while I was in Melbourne for Armageddon Expo, it was a sunday night, I had a long day selling artworks and I was back in the hotel room chilling, at around 10pm I got hungry and realised I don't have much to eat, I didn't wanna call room service because I wasn't sure if food is still available that late. So knowing the 24/7 grocery store is just a block away, I decided to head out to buy a cup noodle or something. It was pretty dark outside with a bit of rain as well, much to my annoyance, but I was really really hungry. Now the proper way to get to the grocery store is to walk around the block, OR I can take a shortcut and go through the alleyway.... I tend to always walk around the block as I didn't wanna get mugged, if Batman has taught me anytAlleyway Incident1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Tagged. Sh*tHiya Ryceballs. So.. I was tagged by somone in one of those survey thingy, usually I tend to ignore tags... But this is a friend of mine, so I must do it. And she even bothered to make a video tag too, thank you for that! I also was gonna make a video as a reply until I realise I dont wanna show my face. (Camera shy) Lucky she gave me permission to stay in my comfort zone and write about it in my journal if I like. Here's her video by the way, by Ms :iconminnibutt:Tagged. 1. What's your biggest fear?
There's NO WAY Im telling anyone my biggest fear, that would be like showing your weakness allowing yourself to be open for attacks. I swear if I let this slip, there would be people coming up to me putting their hand on the back of my head and shouting "HEY RY THERE'S A SPIDER ON YOUR HEAD!" and I'll be running around screaming and crying like a little girl, jumping into the closet then freaking out again as I i

There are myriad ways to avoid completing a project, and one of them is to become the eternal student. Always learning, always improving, so that future hypothetical story keeps getting better and better... While somehow never making its way into reality.
But on the other hand, it might help to know a bit about swimming before jumping overboard. So where do you draw the line? What do you absolutely need to know before getting your feet wet with a story?
I can't speak for anyone else. But when I started Dreamkeepers, I didn't know jack about story.
I didn't know about inciting events, verisimilitude, thematic armature, pinch points, none of it.
Quite simply, I did not know what the hell I was doing. Which makes for an interesting question about my first books.
Why don't they suck?
Professional reviewers have said "the writing was absolutely golden," that they were "completely blown awa
Back from RysolationDear Ryceballs. I have returned. It was a short hiatus, but it was a necessary one. I traveled miles and miles on foot into the Indian Desert by myself, in hope that I would be able to find my missing soul, cos thats what people do when they wanna find their soul right? They always go to India. I called it my 'rysolation period'. So I was out soul searching. On my journey, people has been encouraging to me, giving me kind words and needed motivational speeches, I thank you, you know who you are. I think I am more collected and positive now. Yeah I think I am back. Oh also on my soul search I have had time to work out some 'things'. So yeah look forward to more 'things' from me in the future. The desert was hot as hell by the way, don't really recommend it, what my soul was doing there is beyond me.Back from Rysolation1 year ago in Personal More Like This

A RetrospectiveHello Ryceballs! So I was looking through my god awful gallery the other day and had a nostalgic moment when I saw some of my old artworks, I am happy to say that I have improved over the 5 years stay here on Deviantart (Thank god...). So I just want to show you a few of my earlier artworks and talk a little about the story behind each one of them. I must admit that the early artworks you see on this list is not REALLY the first few artworks I uploaded on Deviantart, but I have since got rid of my even older ones because I really really dislike them, I don't want you guys to vomit blood ok. If you guys REALLY want to see the ones I have deleted.. I guess I can dig into the abyss of my old computer and find it. Anyways here goes!A Retrospective2 years ago in Personal More Like This

I might as well begin with an apology for a journal I posted half a year ago back in December 2012 about the misleading fun and joy I had with the Wii U. I say misleading because at the time yes I was having lots of fun with games like New Super Mario Brothers Wii U and Scribblenauts Unlimited and Nintendoland. And sure! They were great fun, I mean those are games that I have finished already (after like a month, cos its so freakin easy! Difficulty level where did you go) but I might still one day go back to it and replay it from the beginning just for fun's sake, but then now what..? Its mid May 2013 and there hasn't been any new games that ain't either cross platform or ones I ain't interested in. And trust me if the Wii U game is cross platform I would definately get the PS3 or 360 version because 1) The controller's more comf

PS4 vs Xbox One who wins?If you like videogames like me, chances are you have been aware of what's happening in E3. Everyone's talking about it now. Since a few weeks ago with the whole TV TV TV TV TV TV TV SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS Xbox conference I have been pretty unhappy with things that are going on with Microsoft. You can't play used games, you need to log in to your internet at least once a day to play games, and it feels like you are actually RENTING a game rather than owning it if you know what I mean. OK then at E3 today they announce the price for the Xbox One.. wait for it. $499 USD. Mmmmk alright, I kinda expected it to be expensive.. but here's the part that surprised EVERYBODY, it costs 429 Pounds and 499 Euros. Wait a minute what? So I quickly pulled out my little pink calculator and found out that for the UK thats equivalent of $666 USD (Interesting its also the number for Satan) and 662 USD for the Europeans. Yo WHAT THE HELL? Why do the people at europe hPS4 vs Xbox One who wins?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Seek and you shall findHiya Ryceballs, oh my god what an insane couple of days. I don't even know where to start I really don't, it has to do with papa Ry, my dad. It has been an emotional roller coaster for him and this whole event is kinda like a joke now when I think back on it. OK long story short, he was afraid he's gonna be jobless, pretty much he left his old job to work in a 'better' job only to find out that this better job has an even more unreasonable boss bla bla bla I don't wanna get into full details for his privacy's sake. So now he wants to quit this current job and go back to his old job and im like 'ARE YOU FREAKIN JOKING ME?! YOU JUST LEFT! AND NOW U WANNA GO BACK?!' Like how embarrassing would that be right? But he says he has no other options and no other jobs out there, so I told him to look for jobs online and he's like 'Oh nah it won't make a difference'. :I This is coming from a man who doesn't know how to turn off an ipad. So I told him a true story I read... I thought it hasSeek and you shall find1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Im allergic to Male DeodorantWell not exactly allergic, but I really dislike the smell of male deodorant. And yes you guessed it, I actually uses female deodorant.. *cries forever because manliness is currently at 0%*Im allergic to Male Deodorant8 months ago in Personal More Like This
^Thats me before I head out. I really do like the smell of female deodorant, it smells soooo good, like a harem. The only problem is that when I buy them in shops I get all tomato faced embarrassed... especially when I am testing the smell to see which one is to my liking... I somtimes deliberately not pick the pink colored deodorant just so its not as obvious :I
But how did this start? Why the hatred for male deodorant? Well I think it goes back to school days... especially in camps.. when the boys would play basketball and get all sweaty pamyu pamyu after the game... I am not a fan of playing basketball so usually I would just be in the camp room playing videogames, then they would go back to the room and spray ALOT (Like s
FML. The Super Mario Galaxy StoryYou guys like story yeah? Let uncle Ry tell you a story, there's a lesson to learn here kids. Pay attention. I wanna talk about this now because last week was my birthday and it reminded me of this story, its related to a birthday gift. The gift was Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. This story happened a few years ago.FML. The Super Mario Galaxy Story1 year ago in Personal More Like This
This is a picture of me playing the Nintendo Wii, I love my Wii. Had lots of great times on it playing games like Smash Brothers and Mario Kart and Twilight Princess, and a game I really loved called Super Mario Galaxy. The story takes place around 2009? A couple of years after the Wii came out. So one day a friend of mine Matt messaged me telling me he got a Wii, I thought great, about time he got a Wii. So I congratulated him, then he asked the question. :I He asked whether he can borrow some games and I was like 'HMMMMMMMM SHIT'. Well Matt is a nice guy, pretty honest and pretty generous. I usually am pretty generous too but when it comes to games, I hate lending it out

How did the introduction of Jazz, Crazes and popular media influence the American populace during the early 1920s?
Brilliant question Silverpoint345, well well well firstly the American public heard the music and was like "HELL NAH THIS AINT MUSIC" cos in the 1920s everyone was kinda boring and didn't do much except for talkin about the weather, then after a while they became more open minded and were like "HELL YEAH THIS IS MY KINDA SH*T" and the

This was me as a kid:
As you can see, I still have that charming smile even now. Just look at dem eyes. I was definitely the senpai of all my girl classmates.
Ok guys, no need to stare for too long, I know I'm good looking but we gotta get to the point ok? :'I You know those kids in movies where some freak accident happens and they are always the hero? 10. Golden Eye
Golden Eye for the 64. Once again I gotta mention how I joined a coloring competition in the newspaper and won myself a Nintendo 64 *cough cough*, The 64 boosted my confidence in pursuing a career in art... no actually let me rephrase, the 64 boosted my confidence in becoming a gamer and to do as little work as possible in school, yup thats more accurate. Me and my friends used to play this game so much now days I need to play my FPS games on invert, our favourite way of playing was 'slappers only' where we don't use weapons, then all go into a cubicle in the facility level and slap each other crazy. no ho
A day of doing nothingHey Ryceballs. yesterday marked the day that I did absolutely nothing. I gota admit, the last 2 weeks has been one of my most crazy weeks of the year, there were just tooooo many things going on at the same time that has affected my emotional state. It was like an emotional roller coaster that just didn't end. Not just bad things don't get me wrong, but good things too. And being a guy who try to take as little rest as possible, I came to a point where I just got totally burnt out. I was just exhausted and tired and just felt extremely depressed. It has affected my judgement and logical thinking and it even shows in my polls to be honest, I don't know if people realise but sometimes the topic of the polls and quality of my artworks are affected by what's going on in my life.. but sometimes I throw in a few odd ball polls in there to mix it up so you guys don't think I am personally going through stress, so yeah 'poo flavoured icecream' isnt a thing from experience don't worry! Questioned by the Hong Kong PoliceSo where was I? Oh yes I was gonna talk about my experiences with the Hong Kong police, so here goes. OK this is the problem, whenever I visit Hong Kong I always have the fear of being questioned by the police, well not exactly fear because I've got nothing to hide, but whenever I am alone walking on the street and a policeman on patrol sees me, they would ALWAYS 100% stop and ask for my ID. For those ain't familiar with how things work in Hong Kong is that if they see a teenager (Especially male) on the street not in their school uniform during school time or with dyed hair or pretty much just 'gangster' or suspicious looking, they have the right to stop you in the middle of nowhere and question you. Now I match every bit of suspicion possible, what they are trying to check is if there's any sort of crime around the area so they can narrow down the suspects, or to check whether you are legal to be in Hong Kong, or whether you've got drugs on you. Anyway when I was in Hong Kong a monthQuestioned by the Hong Kong Police3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Secret to Success: Draw with your balls outHappy new ears my brothers and sisters. I hope you had a good break, but now its time to get back to work! A wise man by the name of John Rambo once told us that we should 'Stay ballsy'. We should not let our fear overtake us, we should dive head in into obstacles and fight the demons without fear and without worries. Well I have taken that approach and incorporated it into my drawing, believe it or not I have never been confident about my artworks, even if it is something I spent 24 hours on I still have doubt whether its good enough to show or not, especially when it is for work and I know I am being judged on.. thats why it always takes so long for me to finish an art piece because I keep looking at it and try to fix stuff that probably no one would ever notic
Wack'em Sinteeeeek 13HD ReviewHiya Ryceballs. As some of you know, I was askin for opinions a few journals back about the Wacom Cintiq, you lovely people gave me some great advice and tips and one even went as far as to find me an Australian website with a cheaper price. And she saved me $200, so special thanks to KokoroKanon for doing that. So yes I have been using the Wacom for more than a week now, I didn't wanna write a review until I get the SmudgeGuard, a SmudgeGuard is pretty much looks like a glove cut in half, it looks like a futuristic glove in Minority Report, the reason I wanted a SmudgeGuard is because I tend to get sweaty hands so I did not wanna dirty the Cintiq screen at all, it costed me around $20 to get that. An alternative is just buy a cheap glove and cut off the top three fingers.... you can then use the cut off three fingers glove and put it on your head so you can pretend to be chicken.Wack'em Sinteeeeek 13HD Review1 year ago in Personal More Like This

That art thief SOB in the Artist AlleyOk here it is, the long awaited journal about that art thief guy at Animania a few weeks back, I promised I will write about it and here it is. I thought a lot about whether I should write about this because if its just a random art thief then I really don't mind dissing his grass.. but unfortunately that S.O.B also happens to be the brother of a High School friend of mine... :icontableflipplz:That art thief SOB in the Artist Alley1 year ago in Personal More Like This
This whole thing occurred in an anime convention that has been going downhill since a few years back, every year it gets worse and worse, to the point that I am now calling it Emptimania. It is no secret that the management is terrible, and that includes making sure that there are no bootleg stores around.... I don't know if they are just ignorant that there are bootleg stores there, or whether they dont give a duck because hey they get money from people getting a table. So anyway I was at the artist alley selling my things like usual, then a couple of tables down I noticed a guy, he looked fami
Call of Jury DutySo last Friday I had to go to court. DONT WORRY I didn't murder anybody not yet. It was for jury duty, and it was my first time ever doing it. Pretty much they pick someone at random from the mega list of boring ordinary permanent residents in Australia for a potential position in the juror's panel. The jurors are the people who gets to decide whether they think the offender is guilty or not guilty. Like in the movies.. only its very real. A person's life depends on our vote.Call of Jury Duty1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It IS a hassle if you got picked for Jury Duty, it is also illegal not to go without a good reason, you can't just say you have work. You have to have like a really special reason, like if you are going overseas or really sick or has some childhood trauma that will affect your decisions kinda thing (With evidence of course). To be honest I don't think anybody wanted to be there. You do get paid a reasonable fee for being there however, but its still a pain in the bum bum to travel to a place you are not familiar w
