I promised myself that I will make an artwork of Miata in her awakened form the moment I see it revealed in the manga. And here it is!
First time I saw her awakened form I puked rainbows. She's a dragon with many many wings! Claymore wiki says, her design is reminiscent of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. It's supposed to be a serpent with rainbow colors. Like Nyan Cat. But... I didn't color this in rainbows... It'll look not right.
Anyways, was happy painting this. It's good stress relief. Yeah, I did this during work. It wasn't a busy day (I guess).
I kinda drew Miata's awakened form here a little different. I kept her more Claymore self, retaining her body, her pretty long hair, her face, etc... If you're curious, this is how her awakened form really looks like - images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__c...
As promised, here is that other Claymore art work I planned on uploading, featuring *drum rolls* Clarice and Miata! My two other fave characters in the story.
Ugh. I actually want to redo some stuff in this painting - like making Clarice's face look less fierce, make her hands a tad smaller, adjust the size of Miata's head, omit the blue sky... Tsk. The sky most of all. Covering that big of a space with poster paint sure wasn't a good idea (especially when the drawing pad paper's not up to the task). But I wanted it to look more natural than just filling it up with a block color using Photoshop. Arg! Can't do much about the crinkles and the warping too... That's the downside to traditional art - no Layers to edit, no Undo button... *sigh*
Yet despite all that, I think I'm fine with the finished work. My fave part was doing Miata's hair. I love this duo - a mother and a baby. They're so sweet it makes me go "awwww..." (especially when Miata does that "thing" with Clarice).
Damn! Can't wait for the next chapter. Miata's AWAKENING!!!
She is back! The queen! The goddess who graces her victims with a faint smile! That last page of chapter 149 - got me all hyped. Teresa seems to be back.
Excitement equals fan art. And here's a tribute to Teresa. Though I can't say I'm satisfied with this - lots of warping on her face and hair area. Tsk. Damn flimsy paper. I had to Photoshop it away the best I can. I colored it in shades of brown (except her eyes) - wanted to make it look like a memory.
I'm not sure if I'm happy with how this painting ended up. It... Just isn't how I had imagined it in my head. Also, somebody else already thought of a similar idea to this. Found that fan art after Googling Riful's images. Should've Googled first before putting to paper what idea my mind has come up. Too late though. But I still made it look unique and unmistakably MINE. (Claymore and its characters don't belong to me by the way, this is a fan art. )
Actually, the picture that inspired me to draw this is this particular page from the manga - [link]
Damn! Riful is so awesum! She's so cute! But freaky! That's exactly what I wanted to convey here, mixing sweet/innocent with maniacal lunacy and sadism!
I actually tried to mimick how the author (Norihiro Yagi) colors the characters - especially the nose!
As my last polling goes… here’s The Faint Smile Teresa in the first place, fighting Priscilla way back in Claymore volume 5!
In this scene, Priscilla was not in her full awakened being form. She could still be back in her human form, but her muscle had already turned bigger and her face meaner. I exaggerated a little bit of course, and had made her body more enormous compared with Teresa.
And if somebody saw this painting and found any colors differ from actual scene, bear in mind that I only had the reference from the black and white manga. So I didn’t know exactly what is the color scheme of their battleground or the sky…
As if anyone wondering why Teresa didn’t wear her tassets, you could look at scene 22 in Claymore Vol.5. She’s fighting Irene and her allies without her tasset because she was attacked during her rest. Oddly, in the beginning of her battle with Priscilla in the dessert, she wore her tassets again. So, trying so hard to be logic, I decided not to draw it (since Teresa was escaping with Clare in hurry, I think she didn’t had much time to grab and wear it).
Well that’s all the ramblings. Hope you like the painting, though
This is (young) Clare and her beloved Teresa from the anime/manga Claymore. Like what happened to Kaito in HXH, Teresa's sudden death also took me by surprise.
The style I used here is similar to the previous drawing I made of Pitou and Kaito, but I wanted to show more of pure love and a sense of utter loss (instead of sadism).
Again, I drew the blood in a symbolic shape - this time a wing. It usually gives a feeling of flight or ascendance, reflecting the fact that Teresa never really died, she continues to live on as a permanent part of Clare's body when she chose to become a Claymore.
Whew! I think I'm gonna have to buy some white poster colors. I kinda used them all up for this. I don't usually paint a fully colored piece.
I don't really like Priscilla that much as a character in Claymore. Yeah, she may had had it tough before becoming this monster, but I still can't forget that she killed Teresa and basically becomes the source of bad things that happen in the story (aside from the Organization).
But I do like her appearance as an Awakened Being. She's like a pretty fairy. On steroids. Her's is actually the most "tamed" looking "Awakened" form. The others are all grotesque, horrible nightmares - which I actually LOVE!!! My fave Awakened form is Cassandra's - Now that's some messed up shit.
Yeah, I went crazy with painting this. Didn't think much about the background - just splashed in browns and oranges. Guess it looks like dirt and debris stirred up by Priscilla. And I think I shouldn't have done those paint splatters...
I really didn't like the claymore art I made last year, and felt bitter about it. So I tried again with a different character. Just looking at this picture makes me feel like this year wasn't wasted, which is for the most part, good.
Was pretty interesting to complete, I enjoyed working on the hands and also her lower torso.
