The city had actually simmered down and the crazy talk had sort of slipped under the sheets. Then inmates found warmer spots and hoped that food would eventually be dropped. Somehow the crazy side of town had gotten it's own place and name, still a mystery to her how this had been managed but then again anything is possible with a city filled with so many cruel intentions.
Then again, everything had gone to shit in nano seconds.
She washed the blood from her hands before turning to look at him, bandages around his torso, blood staining the bed and his ragged breathing getting just the tiniest bit fainter. Harley had done all she could for now, sending out the kids to get the first doctor the could find and get him or her down here as quick as possible but for now, she'' drown herself in cheap whiskey and watch over him. It was a combination of things, a shoot out that w

The doe-eyed child stared, slack-jawed, back at me.
I wondered idly what she would look like with white face paint over her porcelain face, a diamond pattern decorating her attire that, naturally, clung to her perfect skin.
I sit back in my chair and tap my toe, feigning impatience.
"I'm a-waiting doll-face." I arch my eyebrow again, letting my eyes turn dark and cold. I was tired of this game already. I only put the effort into warmth because she was pleasing me with her wonderful naivety. But now, I shook my head internally. This may not be worth the effort after all.
"Mister Joker, my name is Doctor H. Quinzel. I am here to help you," she sauntered over to the table and slammed her hands down on the table.
One night in Mount Justice.Mount Justice was empty, no one was there. The Fridge was full, a stack of movies lay untouched on the coffee table. The training room was empty, no sounds were heard. Everthing was going to plan but...no the coffee cup!
Wally walked in, he thought her heard somthing, but it was proablly his imagination, his brain was probally playing tricks from lack of food. I mean he had't ate in like half an hour...but what was that? A mug. He picked up the coffee cup, still warm.
Hmm...he thought, noticing that the mug beared artemis' arrow logo on he went to investigate. And they're sticking out from the sofa was a single lock of

Sometimes.Never mind. Always. I was stupid to let a psychologist attach onto me. As if I didn't get enough pointless therapy in Arkham! I had to bring a doctor outside as my own personal advisor. Idiotic.
What is this? Its a journal. Me scribbling my "thoughts" on a paper. She's making me do it. She's watching me right now. I ask her what the hell to write, and she suggests writing my current actions. That's what I'm doing.
Now I'm out of things to write. But you know what's funny? I can't write that I'm staring at a blank piece of paper, because that would be lying. I can however, write "Fifteen minutes ago I was staring at a blank piece of paper."
I know how to annoy her.

"I don't know how to drive stick." I say flatly, eyeing inside the car warily.
Joker rolled his eyes at me, leaning on the open door, "'Course ya do."
"I really don't-" I laugh shakily at myself "- I didn't even have a driver's license until four years ago... that was one helluva process.."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I didn't have a proper birth certificate when I went to the DMV. Got burned in some sort of dormitory fire- at least that's what Jack told me." Joker gave me a puzzled look.
"Shouldn't you be able to decide that for yourself? I mean- shouldn't you be able to remember a fire that caused so much trouble for you?"
"That's the problem, isn't it? I should- " I slide into the driver's seat and slam the door "- but I can't." I said more to myself more than anyone else.
Joker swung open the door on the side opposite and slid in while chuckling under his breath. "You know what I love?"
"What?" I say wrapping my hands over the steering wheel, clutching it so hard th
Look what the cat dragged in - Chapter 1I didn't expect him to black out on me this rudely. "I thought we were in the middle of a conversation here, Twiggers." I turned my amused smirk upside-down and touched his face with my gloved hand, pulling open his closed eyelid with my thumb. His brown eyes didn't react. He didn't blink or wince or execute any reflex he was supposed to when something came close to his eyeball. He was out. Cold as a glacier. I rested my hand on the side of his neck as I pondered what to do with him next.Look what the cat dragged in - Chapter 13 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
He was in bad shape. Signs of starvation were obvious as I looked closer at him. He had shadows under his eyes and his cheekbones weren't covered by as much flesh as they should be, not to mention the protruding bony elbows poking out of his malnutritioned arms. His skin was sickly pale when it was supposed to be a soft milk-chocolate shade. The poor thing was dying, if not already dead. But I could feel a faint pulse under my hand as his heart strived to pump blood up to his dehydrated brain. I frown

A pair of green eyes scanned the pictures in a therapist directory, flipping through page after page, staring at picture after picture- waiting to detect the perfect subject.
When suddenly the man stopped, and stabbed his finger in the middle of a page towards the end of the book.
“I want her!” He commanded at the other man in the room.
“I'm sorry, but she only handles patient paperwork and those sorts of things. She doesn't deal with high-class criminals, like yourself.” The opposite man quipped in a monotonic, English, accent.
“I don't care. I won't talk to anyone but her.”
“Why her?” The English man scratched at his chin.

The shoes that Arkham Asylum provided their inmates with were surprisingly good running shoes. The Joker laughed once in gratitude with a panting breath as he glanced down at the pair helping his feet propel themselves along the rocky shore of southern Gotham. The institute's sirens blared behind him, and his loyal girlfriend had to really shout to be heard over the wails of the cops' cars parked behind the chain link fence of the asylum's perimeter. "Where the hell are we going!?!?!"
With a small slip in his step, he laughed over his shoulder at her agile body following his lead. "To the sea!!!" Although his answer confused her, she was satisfied to know that he at least had an idea of a destination. When she broke him out of Arkham fifteen minutes ago, she was ready to pull him back out to the masked car she brought and parked in the parking lot. He turned out to be the one who pulled her, only in the opposite direction. The spotlights from the roof of Arkham we
Look what the cat dragged in - PrologueUnbelievably, I had survived almost four days without food. Despite the pride of a man fervently pulsing within my chest, I only had one source of food out here on these streets. My only option for surviving was to scavenge through the scattered garbage bins of the slums. I had to suck it up, and just do it. I had to find a meal in much the same way a stray cat had to. But repulsively, the garbage dumpsters provided little to eat, and no matter how much willpower I put into forcing myself to eat the shit inside there, I vomited most of the scum before it was halfway down my throat. I kept telling myself with stubborn growls, "If you don't eat this, you will die! Now eat!!!" but I could not convince the opposing reflexes of my body to do as I said.Look what the cat dragged in - Prologue3 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

Wally West, also know as Kidflash, was sitting on the couch at Mount Justice eating snacks that he had found in the kitchen. He didn't really care for what he grabbed. If it looked edible, he'd eat it. He was sitting on the couch still wearing his Kidflash outfit since the team had been sent on an emergency recon mission. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, the guy they were going to watch managed to get apprehended before anything could happen. So the team got back to the mountain and left to do their own things.
As Wally was decimating the small pile of junk food next to him, Robin walked in the living room and plopped down next to the red head. Wally glanced over at the other boy and noticed he was still in his Robin attire. Well it had only been about five minutes since they got back to the mountain.

I haven’t heard anyone call me by my real name in a long time. The flash of fear and confusion at hearing it yelled out across the entire shelter was quickly replaced by the recognition of her voice, and the comfort that she was the only one left who knew me by that name. I sent Mouse to find and bring back Harley, sending my pocket watch with her as proof of my presence.
Mouse is my mouse. Well, she’s a kid. But she’s my mouse. I found her around here recently after I’d escaped the cops’ surprise ambush. I walked in the shelter, buried under some foul scraps of clothes, and noticed her following me at a distance. Once I’d settled down and obtained a spot in the corner of the top floor, she settled in right beside me without a word.
I tried to scare her off by revealing my unmistakable attire and face paint, but her pants remained dry. She doesn’t know who the hell I am. She’s never seen me before. Has absolutely no clue who I am! The
Look what the cat dragged in - Chapter 5I stood up, half of my mind hard and certain and the other doubtful and in denial. That couldn't be her! But then again, she was the only female in the building. Oliver let a sigh breeze out of his nose as he said my name again. I chose not to hear him as another distant and short scream sent my nerves rippling in a fearful vibration. I stepped toward the door. I was not obeying the dumb human instinct of curiosity, I was responding to my inner conscience at the alarming sound of pain.Look what the cat dragged in - Chapter 53 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
"Nigel. Go back to sleep." Xavier's voice barked. I couldn't believe they weren't hearing this! "Harley is screaming, can't you hear her!?" My voice was a fraction higher as a result of the tension in my throat, along with the rest of my body. I turned in the dark to face Xavier who was sitting up against the wall a few feet from Oliver. Even in the dark, I could make out the grim expression on his face.
"No. We can't." He emphasized with a hard glare.
I slowly came to understand why they claimed they di

The boy before the three teens was quite large and bulky. His face was half covered by metal, as was most of his body, and one eye was replaced by a red cybornic eye. The part of his face that was still his own showed a mix of emotions. Everything from shock to anger to a hint of happiness. There also seemed to be some sadness showing through as well.
After a short stand off between the four, Zapps' expression changed from shocked to ecstatic as she flew up to the large half man, half machine and gave him a huge hug. She tried to hold back the tears that wanted to escape from her eyes. So many emotions came over her at once and it seemed to make her forget about her mission.
The boy first just stood there, frozen by the girl's embraces, but after a few seconds he returned the hug.
When the others saw their teammate hugging the cyborg, they couldn't help but be puzzled by the situation before them. Robin and Kid Flash let down their guard as they watche
To The Sea (2/2)The ocean was suffocating Harley. It was more unbearable than having a pillow forced over her face, and she knew exactly how that felt. Every attempt to move her limbs and swim sent pain through her panicked muscles. The woman screamed in silence when her flowing hair was captured and yanked up. She felt the crisp night air welcoming her face back to the surface as she convulsed a gallon of liquid from her throat. The waverunner was slippery and provided little to grip on as it painfully bumped against her back. With another yank, Joker pulled her on board and jumped his hand's iron grip to her bicep. She reached up and latched onto his shirt to pull herself on the seat, wincing at the stinging in her scalp and the fire in her drenched lungs. He let her go once she was on board, placing

Aqualad and Superboy stood across from each other as the computer started the countdown for them to start their sparring match. Artemis and Miss Martian were on the side, watching and talking among themselves while Kid Flash stood a little away from them, eating as usual. Zapps stood next them him, watching in awe at Superboy and Aqualad's little match though it was short lived. Superboy took Aqualad with one swift move, throwing him to the ground. "Fail Aqualad." The computer announced.
"Black Canary taught me that." Superboy boasted before helping Aqualad up.
Just at that time, Red Tornado came in. "Do you have a mission for us?" Kid Flash asked, speeding over next to him.
"Mission assignments are the Batman's responsibly." Red Tornado answered.
"Yeah but the Batman is with the Robin doing the dynamic duo thing in Gotham." Wally started. "But you're heading somewhere right? Hot date? Or a miss-on?"
"If we can be of help." Aqualad said.

Poppy bouncing music was playing at a loud pulsing volume, bouncing off the walls of the small dim lit, hole-in-the-wall, bar only serving a handful of people; a couple criminals included. A blonde innocent looking young woman sat on a plastic hard bar stool at the lonely bar, having been there for an hour people watching with the same one short crystal glass of Scotch, sky blue hues occasionally glancing from the half empty glass to the rough looking guys around the pool table recognizing a couple of them. The guy that was currently holding the pool stick was a slender fit guy in his mid thirties and the girl recognized him from an unfinished bank robbery gig he had been doing before run

The raven haired boy looked up from his holographic computer to see his best friend.
"Why do you want to do that? I thought it gets in the your way when you run." With one eyebrow raised he looked at his friend suspiciously. Wally always made fun of his cape, saying that it smelled weird (don't ask) and how it's going to get caught on something and make him a living piñata.
"Well yea, but who said anything about running with it?"
" Touché." He took off his cape and handed it to the read headed boy, who happily put it on. "So what are you going to do with it?"
With one hand Wally pulled his goggles down so you can barely see his bright green eyes, and with the other he pulled up the cape up right below the goggles. He narrowed his eyes into a glare, and with a low voice he said "I'm Batman."
Robin couldn't help but laugh. It was the best/funniest imitation of the Dark Knight he had ever seen. He then stopped and stared, a smirk forming o

"Damn Harl, you are one pathetic human being!" He laughed and ran a hand through his blonde hair. His voice was back to it's normal unique self.
"Joker?" She grinned, embarrassed and delighted. "How did you...!?"
He cleared his throat and smiled at her from the chair. If Harley didn't hate her restraints before, she sure hated them now!
"Joker, I'm so sorry, please" She started.
"Jesus, Harl, do you think I'm deaf? I know you're sorry, alright?" He rolled his eyes. She lowered her gaze submissively.
After looking at her for a little longer, he stood up. "Besides, that was almost a week ago. Let it go already."
"So you forgive me ?" She whispered, slightly confused.
"Now, I didn't say that." He shook his head and gave her that disappointed look. He suddenly sat down on the bed next to her and held her hand.
