Why I like Sonic the HedgehogI wouldn't say it's a rant, but it does hold some opinions on variations of Sonic. And I was having a chat with some Skype friends about childhood interests that we hold onto and it got me thinking. Why I like Sonic the Hedgehog5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Anyway, here's some background.
I don't faintly remember any Sonic before I was 9 or 10ish. My brother actually happened to have Sonic CD on his computer back in the 90s, and I didn't find out it was Sonic CD until I did research as a teenager. I knew it had to be Sonic CD because I remember time travel being a thing and I definitely remember a pink hedgehog girl.
Anyway, get to about Gamecube era of gaming and one day, we rented Sonic Adventure 2 (back in a time where video stores still existed). I was hooked onto the game, and I was only able to make it to the Final Story but couldn't get past Knuckles' part of the Final Story. Then we ended up having to take it back.
Years later we were able to get our own copy and I finally completed the game.
And I gotta say; Shadow's deat

CHAOTIX QUEST - SONIC UNIVERSE #49 Comic Drama CHAOTIX QUEST - SONIC UNIVERSE #49 Comic DramaCHAOTIX QUEST - SONIC UNIVERSE #49 Comic Drama8 months ago in Personal More Like This
And here we are! Two Sonic Comic Dramas within the month! I'm on fire baby!
Chaotix Quest like I said is one my personal favourites in the SONIC UNIVERSE arcs Pre-SGW (i.e. Pre-SuperGenesisWave). It's got an involving story about family, interesting antagonists, and friendship. Team Ian and Tracey predominantly did an incredible job with all four issues and I give my applause to their masterful and creative input into some of the best stories that the Sonic Archie comics had to offer - it was a lot of fun, it had action, drama, and a lasting impact on fans of the Chaotix and their adventures in the series.
Also this would be one my most emotional performances in a Sonic comic drama and I'm super pleased with the results.
Special thanks to Tasha for her contributions to Charmy and Matilda. And I wish The StarPost Productions team all the very best in completing their ambitious FULL CHAOTIX QUEST

Midtown Comics has the covers and solicitations for the comics coming out in the holiday month, but these issues are going to be anything but peace on earth! In Sonic the Hedgehog #267, Sonic is still trying to get his wild side under control, but he’s got to do it quickly because he’s still under fire from the relentless Egg Boss Thunderbolt! The other Freedom FIghters are being attacked by several E100s, so they’re just as hot under the collar in “Ambushed”: part 2.

Compare to all of the other commissions this lineart rough took about an hour or so - much quicker since it's within my comfort zone.
Now, why the thunder? Well... You know that eerie feeling you get from a stormy night and you're inside a spooky mansion of sorts (you're most likely either dreaming or watching a scary movie), then suddenly... CRACKABOOOOOM!!! You turn around and see a few flashes of light coming from the window and whatever you see that is surrounding you is reflecting obscure silhouettes for only a few seconds.
THAT is the kind of atmosphere I'm going to try to recreate here in this one shot. I really hope I can render this just right. Probably give me another few more hours to get the job done.
And thanks to everyone who commented and shared their thoughts on which composition to go for - I went with what my gut told me as well as what you guys had suggested (including my cli
Help Me Get Back On RAT RAGE With Patreon! UPDATE!Help Me Get Back On RAT RAGE With Patreon! UPDATE!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
UPDATE: So far we're at 13 people jumping on board for this! You guys are awesome! A few people have messaged me and are quite confused about how it works and the way I have this set up though, so I can explain a bit more:
The way Patreon works is that you pledge per upload or per month (in my case, per upload). So if you subscribe to paying $1 per webcomic page upload, and if I upload 4 pages a month, you're paying $4 a month. If you subscribe at the higher tier at $5 with the extra goodies/content, you pay $20 per month. I think many would just like to read at the entry-level tier, and hopefully, a dollar isn't too much. You can also set a monthly spending limit on your Patreon account so you don't end up spending more than you can afford.
I've always had a bit of anxiety with Rat Rage; considering that it's anthro, I know it will not mesh well with a lot of people. But I will never cross that "weird side" since it's anthro. I'm just no

JohnSu goes to AX 2013Hey guys, sorry I took so long! This year I'm going to try something a little different and not Flash-dependent. I wasn't really sure how much I was gaining by making the pages squiggly and separated by animated transitions, so without further adieu, here's my report on this year's Anime Expo, now with alt-text! (hover mouse on image for commentary)JohnSu goes to AX 20132 years ago in Personal More Like This
My biggest regret this year was being too busy and not getting around the artist alley more and visiting people and panels. Thanks to everyone who visited, and sorry to everyone who I didn't visit (or visited only very briefly)! I feel really rude in retrospect. I also feel like I didn't really get to see much of what AX had to offer this year by confining myself to my table for most of it.
Next year I hope to have some sort of book-type product at my table, but knowing myself, I will probably either give up or miss deadlines again and you'll see a repeat of the first two images in the report.
MAN, I sure got tired of drawing myself.

My name is Jeffrey Cruz and I'm a Melbourne-based Comic book Artist that goes under the pen-name of 'Chamba'. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, back when I would copy images of Transformers from the back of the toy packaging. That year, my Love for creating art was born.
During my first year of University back in 2003, I was introduced to DeviantArt as part of class task to join an 'online community', something that was very foreign to me. Being part of DeviantArt had allowed me to open up my eyes to the variety of styles that existed beyond my own backyard and of the people who created such works. Throughout the years I've not only made life-long fr

Can creator owned comics save the comics industry?
The Comics Industry is going through something of a secret crisis right now. A crisis that could have been avoided, but one where there is still a way out. The two biggest problems are a stagnation of business ideas and lack of sales.
Let’s look at the origins of these problems
For years many have bemoaned the fact that comics have lost their easy accessibility. For decades comics w

Comic Vine has the latest released solicits from Archie Comics, and December is on course to be a huge month for Sonic comic fans. There’s not one, not two, but six comics, magazines and books to be on the lookout for! To kick things in grand fashion, Sonic the Hedgehog #268 sees Sonic enter a fighting tournament to nab another Chaos Emerald for the quest. The line-up is bound to be full of familiar favourites, and there’s even the Fighter Vipers reference Honey the Cat in it to win. On top of that, the variant brings in one Breezie the Hedgehog (Robot), not seen since her appearance in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog! All this excitement is in “Champions”: part 1.

Sonic Comic OriginsThis is just a real quick journal so here goes. I wanna ask all the Archie Sonic fans or Sonic fans in general what do you guys/gals think about the Sonic Comic Origins? Do you think it needs to be its on separate book, does the main and universe comics explain more about the characters than the origins, and last the "ART" of the comic origins do you guys think I did a good job or do I need to work on my penciling more and if so let me know what areas I am slacking in because your honest feedback does help in the long run....as yall know I haven't done a full issue since 253-254 with Tracy Yardley.Sonic Comic Origins4 months ago in Personal More Like This

Awesome news to share, Tracy J. Butler has exceeded beyond her milestone goal of working on her Eisner-nominated webcomic series full-time, all thanks to the support of fans and an initiative called Patreon. A big congratulations to her for making the brave and bold step into creating comics full-time whilst quitting her job (from the gaming industry) in the process. Here's a video to check out as an introduction to her initiative:
If you haven't heard of Patreon then I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of 'crowdfunding' or initiatives like Kickstarter or Indiegogo. The elements are similar but the difference is that the money you put in for the initiative is focused more-so on the individual/creator rath

It's frustrating when that happens and I'm sure many of you who are writing stories will find yourself in the this situation from time to time.
I think I'm just overthinking about the story I want to write for Ashworth, hence it can lead me to endless possibilities and not sticking with just one idea.
Here's an example: Just who is Ashworth and what is his goal?
i) He's a king of the Wombat Clan, he's done gruesome things to the innocent bringing tyranny to towns and villages around the nation. However one day he was betrayed by his own clan and was disposed of, presumed dead. He survives a presumed death, comes back with a refreshed perspective on life - perhaps looking for redemption for the bad things he's done. With a change of heart will he go back to his clan in a double act of revenge and put an end to their terrorism or will he attempt a

I recently posted an article about great advice to artists who plan to tackle the creative media industries by Joe Madureira. Now I want to share with you yet another excellent article that concerns storytelling critique - who are these people who do give you critique and how can you tell whether it's good or bad , story telling tools commonly use by writers - what are these tools and is there a right or wrong way to using them?
David Lillie is the creator of the Dreamkeepers series, a successful self-publisher, writer, illustrator, and someone who advocates good story telling. His advice on the subject continues to be an inspiration but he'll take that one step further with this article he just recently posted on his blog. Go check it out.

For one,i m starting my new job very soon, hopefully i ll be able to announce it (its Awesome),at the same time i m studying Japanese and living in Japan for those of you unaware.
Really sorry for those of you who requested a commission spot,i barely have anytime for myself so please bear with me...
Another reason for my lack of activity here is,unfortunately some of the artists i follow (or followed...) turned out to be rather"unlikable" to put it politely.I'm withholding names for obvious reasons. It kind of killed whatever little enjoyment i had left here, which is why you see me upload elsewhere more often.
Plus i m spending more time enjoying life, which us artists sometimes forget to do.
Anyways,no worries,i will keep updating and uploading stuff on here, just not at the super speed rate i used to.Cause you know,Life.
Take it easy you lovely, lovely people, keep creating art but above all remember to enjoy life.
