Waiting for inspiration to strike, I have been cleaning-up my hard drive. Trawling through my C4D project files I kept coming across signs, insignia and logos I had made. I decided to pull them together into a family of Photoshop templates so that I stopped reinventing the wheel each time I needed a sign or logo and could work faster.

The Warning signs were designed to broadly fit into the same universe as my Moon/Silent Running-inspired signs.

Size
1024 x 717

Colours
The base colours are always:
Yellow: eaac04/R234-G172-B4
Grey: 3f3e40/R63-G62-B64

A word about fonts
I have adjusted these templates so that the text layers use Arial Black, as both Windows and Mac machines should have this font as standard. The signs look more effective with any of the following fonts available from dafont www.dafont.com/fr/theme.php?ca…
Fonts
Capture_it
Coalition
Defused
Jacinto Sans
Bitsumishi
Dodger
SF Automaton

Groups & Layers
To minimise the file sizes, wherever possible I have removed the rasterised layers and left the original PS Shape layer - this also allows you to easily change the colours. However, occasionally you will find the original shape layer missing - this is where I forgot to duplicate the Shape layer before rasterising or merging the layer.

Large Sign Base Shapes
Warning/Stop
Medical
ID Holders Only
Radiation,
No Access
Science
Security
Biohazard
Airlock
Scratches & Dirt
Masks (alpha masks for clean and damaged)

The PS Brushes used to create the Dirt and Scratches layers include, but are not limited to:
Scratches by Katrina Rempel
Grunge_Brushed_by_misstaraleexo
Grunge Notion by Blazter
GrungeBrushes3 by KeReN-R

For the Biohazard sign I used Hazard Brushes 1 by AscendedArts

Use
Personal Use
Have a ball - do whatever you want with it!

Commercial Use
No restrictions beyond checking those of the font you use.

Whatever you do with the template, I would love to see it - I had loads of fun making images with it and I hope you do to!

Kitties in lingerie, hahahaha.
Thanks for the invite!

Name: Hachisu
Age: 22
Height: 176cm
Weight: 62kg
Species: Cat
Breed: Birman
Societal Standing: House Cat
Personality: Sweet, calm, lazy, eccentric, moocher, courageous.
If you can get past Hachi's peculiarities, he is a soothing companion to have. He goes with the flow in most situations, and doesn't do much unless he wants to. He also tends to react to things quite slow - someone could say something hurtful to him one day, then he could start crying about it a week later. It's not really clear whether that gap is from him thinking, or his thoughts simple have some sort of lag...
When push comes to shove he can be courageous, though his battery reserves may run out quickly.

Likes: Khaine! Cookies, books, the bookstore, lazing around, naps.
Dislike: Bitter things, mint, heavy foods (i.e. creme sauce, red meat, etc.)
History: Hachisu was born a stray, left on the bookstore's front step one day. The bookstore's owner wanted to keep him, but were too old to keep up with the demands of a newborn - they asked their daughter to help raise the child, as she had much experience with several children of her own. Though things went smoothly for a while, the other children began to pick on the orphan once they had grown older; Hachi was still to young to fend for himself at the time, and once things escalated to physical harm, the bookstore owner had to take Hachi back in at the age of 2. The elderly couple managed to raise Hachi despite the doubts they had initially.
One night when Hachi was around 8 years of age, he saw a dog for the first time - He was an older Husky, and with him he had brought his son. It was in the middle of the night, and yet his Grandpa had welcomed them with open arms. While the father and Hachi's Grandpa talked quietly at the table, Hachi got to know the son, Liam. Liam was the same age as Hachi, and the two of them exchanged stories of what each side of the species thought of the other. At first they had fought, as kids do when their opinions are different. But as years passed and they met every now and then - always in the middle of the night in secrecy - the two began to get along. Liam was a fanatic of Asiatic cultures, and mentioned that Hachisu's name looked beautiful in kanji.
That was the last visit for a while from the dogs. Though Hachi asked Grandpa when their next visit would be, no answer was given. There were several skirmishes going on in the outskirts of a nearby city between dogs and cats. At the time, Hachi was still too young to fully piece together the puzzle, though he knew something was wrong.
It was 8 years later when Hachi met Liam again. Unfortunately his visit was unexpected, and Hachi had dropped books on him from the second floor of the story, thinking he was a robber. It took the rest of the night for Liam to wake up, and Hachi was scolded for hours by his Grandpa. Hidden in the attic room, Hachi observed Liam quietly as he slept. He'd gone through a lot in the time they had been separated, scars glimpsed under the hem of his clothes.
Once conscious, Liam asked Hachi to come away and live with him. Hachi declined - they had not seen each other for 8 years. Grandpa also had a different attitude towards Liam than when they were younger. He badgered Liam to leave once he was up and about, and to never show his face again at the store. Hachi wasn't really sure what to feel about the situation- he was glad to see Liam again, but certainly things had changed since then. During the middle of the night Liam left, handing Hachi a cloth at their parting. Upon it was "Hachisu" in kanji.
He now has a tattoo of it on his back, and though the grandmother had passed away several years before, Hachi still lives at the book store with his Grandpa.

Haven't done one of these tutorial in a while. And since while I was drawing this Coca-Cola piece I was making separate copies of em I thought I might as well put em together and create a 'making of..' artwork. Enjoy!

1. I begin with a very sketchy draft, a draft which I don't care about accuracy, detail or proportion. I try to let my mind go free, let my inner soul emerge onto the blank page. My hand loosely wander around on the graphic tablet like a drunken man on the street.

2. I then take a look at my current progress and can't help but vomit, something needs to be done about this mindless scribble. I start a new layer and redo every single line until it doesn't look rough anymore.

3. Then I would imagine what this artwork would look like with the proper lighting. Where are the lights coming from? The usual answer is 'top'... I would then add a very basic shadow just so that I kinda know what I wanna achieve at the end.

4. Not a care in the world I would randomly splash paint all over my artwork, messing around with the colors until the right 'tone' comes out. This is another step where I loosen up before I try to be accurate.

5. Now that we have some colors on the page, I would rethink what I actually want on the final image. I now start refining everything.. From colors to details on the characters, oh look the girl on the left even had a sex change!

6. I add details to everything now, I zoom in a lot and try to give each character a personality.

7. The cola blobs starts to have a proper face, the robot now has a logo, everyone is happy.

8. I thought the sky looks a little bit empty.. its pretty much just a boring sky with a lot of cola blobs flying around.. what can I add to make it more interesting? A COLA TORNADO! It really brought the artwork alive didn't it?

9. And now the cola tornado has curves.. I also fixed up the colors a bit, added tiny pieces of details, sprayed on a reflective shine on the cola blobs and there we have it! Also important is to add your name down the bottom so people knows who drew this. I am Ry-Spirit. Thanks for reading if you are still with us.

Final image can be viewed here [link] , please head over and fav it if u like.

More to come, hopefully. But this is sorta how I start out with any drawing, and my sister asked me for some drawing tips, so I thought I'd post it on DA too :)

I know this is hardly helpful, but hopefully it might be to some *v*

This is a prop only. May be used as stock.

Modeled on an original exhibit tag. These were in use from the 1950's up until the late 1990's. Mostly in the court system, they were also used as general object naming tags within police stations.
The text itself has been simulated to appear as if it were printed through one of the old presses, hence the blurring effect.

I have added the manila card layer only as an example. The text is a separate layer altogether.

If you want to print this for a prop, delete or hide the manilla layer, and print to a manilla tag available from most newsagents. Attach to item with thin white string for added effect. On the back, hand written item description lines can be placed. Crumple the corners up and get a bit fingered looking, and you'd have an almost exact replica.

Please credit me if you use it anywhere. I have taken some time and effort to get this as authentic as possible, not to mention the research hours.

Thats pretty much all I did.
1. Sketch. Doesnt have to be very detailed. Im so messy. I cant even.. Oh, every character was sketched in a diferent layer so I didnt ruin them (I tend to do that pretty much all the time).
2. You could call it lineart. You could always low opacity and stuff like that, but I just cleaned the sketch. Added lines here and there and erase with the same pen I drew with. Then layered down all the sketch layers.
3. Is obvious. Just adding flat colors.
4. Shading. I dont use grey scale for this. I use colors. Maybe blue. Maybe yellow. Maybe extrafalarious purple/pink. Use multiply and thats that. Then soften it a little.
5. ???
6.Profit Splashing colors to make the lightnings. Not in the bg layer but a new one. Set to overlay.
7. Adding another layer for lights. Yellow and bright orange. Bright blue for Frogadier. Set to overlay. New layer for the lightnings Palid yellow. Set to Luminosity. Lower to 50% opacity.
8. Adding details that nobody notices but makes you feel good about yourself
