This is the first animation test I did for my Animation III class... we had to animate 10 seconds of dialogue of a character answering a phone and going through an emotional change... we also had to develop our own character for it... I developed Eloi and used dialogue from Stargate SG-1 by Michael Shanks. We had to animate some bit of business at the beginning but I never finished the in-between part... and I never finished fixing the end... I'm not too thrilled with those whole thing now, but at the time I was proud of it because it was the most dialogue I had animated.
Why doesn't the pencil test category allow video files anymore? I really don't want to put this in film and I have no idea where to put a pencil test in here...
well here it is on YouTube, anyway... better quality: [link]
For those of you who haven't watched the full version of Greek Mythology on my website ([link]), here's one of my favorite segments: Greece wages war on Troy! My brother and I ad-libbed all the dialogue for the Greek and the Trojan--it was a lot of fun!
The lighting is weird because this was from when I shot the angles from below set, and the compression isn't quite what I wanted it to be. I'll experiment with other compression settings to get better colour. I'm currently using VirtualDub to compress my footage down.
I used my Canon EOS D40 along with the EOS camera movie record program which lets you capture video from the live view of the camera, which can get 720p resolution. Because I'm using my DSLR to capture video, there is no sound so far. I'd have to record sound simultaneously and mix it in with a clapper.
I'm not saying anything in particular. "The quick fox jumped over the lazy brown dog" which is actually a typeface test, but it's fun to say and gets some good mouth motion.
The purpose of video submissions is to help with drawing and animation, not for use as stock footage for projects like music videos or commercials.
Soooo guyyyys deviantart finally accepts videos again (I don't know why but at some point it wouldn't accept mine anymore so yeah), thus here is a school assignment ! "Okay so we have an environnement, I don't care which, and we discover and hole. We get down the hole, I want you to give the illusion of a cam movement. And OH NO THERE IS A KID DOWN THERE. Here you go." I enjoyed working on this ! It will never reach final stage, but I learnt a lot doing it. like staying all the week end at school doing something you have to do even though A) it's painful and B) you know it won't work.
I don't have much to say about this (except yes I couldn't resist setting it in the Smogs universe I mean come on), but I liked doing it and I think it works okay, but if there are problems (like you don't understand where we are or what's happening), please tell me !
Our next assignment (after our current two weeks of animation) will feature a jungle. I don't know if I'm excited or dreading it, but I'll try my best to do something cool with that, hahaha.
