Smoothing, Sanding, & Buffing Polymer ClaySmoothing, Sanding, and Buffing polymer clay is definately something that you don't hear a lot about in the younger polymer clay community, but it certainly does make your pieces look a lot better in the long run. If you smooth, sand, and buff your clay AND add a layer of varnish - watch out, your pieces will look as bright, beautiful and glossy as a piece of delicious candy.Smoothing, Sanding, & Buffing Polymer Clay6 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Have you ever noticed that translucent clay really isn't THAT translucent? Well, if you smooth, sand, and buff it - you'll be seeing differently! It really DOES get see-through!
Give these tips a try, and although I can't guarantee that you will get it right the first time, practice makes perfect, and sometimes new techniques take a little getting used to before you find a way that works the best for you.
Smoothing your clay is what you do to your clay before you bake it. Running your fingers along the surface and smoothing out bumps and impurities can work wonders on a piece and give it a ve

DJ Smackdown is posting even more Vinyl pictures??
WASN'T THERE ALREADY ENOUGH?!?!
I think I'm done posting Vinyl pictures now... Maybe... Unless I'm doing a shoot with another pony or something. The reason for the recently uploaded Vinyl pictures is this: I've lost a lot of weight. Some people haven't noticed but some have, and it personally makes me feel amazing. I was at a very low point for health in my life when the actual photoshoots for Vinyl & Vinyl/Octavia were done and so far throughout 2013 I've lost nearly 50lbs. So to put it simply, my outfit and wig for Vinyl wasn't the only thing that's changed and I definitely wanted to have a couple shots of it. :]
Anyway, on to my other cosplays...
Rainbow Dash should be seen soon. I haven't had the time to do the photoshoot yet but one weekend very soon it'll be done. Spitfire though, that's another story. I was right in that creating this cosplay correctly was going to be a challenge. Progress fell ap

Ahri cosplay- Skirt TutorialHi again guys!Ahri cosplay- Skirt Tutorial2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Here is the tutorial for the skirt. I started similalarily to how I did with the top- But first! Let's talk supplies.
You are gonna need:
*White fabric (I used some satin)
*Fabric paint- I use Jacquard brand - Gold an a red. (5)
*Paint brushes of all sizes- primarily smaller and thinner ones.
*White thread of course
----I will correspond the bottom pictures with the points below----
You can start by taking your measurements- using the pattern method from the shirt create a pattern. Make sure to make the pattern about 2 inches larger than you are to allow enough space for sewing/breathe room. It is also important that you make sure to make the top layer of the skirt larger at the bottom so that it sticks out in the nice points like she does in game
I made my skirt in 2 different pieces. The top half and the bottom half.
1) First I will talk about the bottom half of the skirt;
I first created two pieces to sew together in the front and the back (The seems wil
Ahri Cosplay - Sleeves TutorialHello again!Ahri Cosplay - Sleeves Tutorial2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This is the tutorial for the sleeves of her dress. It is debatable whether or not her sleeves are attached to her top or not. I personally made them separate because It would be even more constricting than it already is XD. I would have liked to made the top of my sleeves a little bigger and I may redo them- but that's for something else. :3
In my first initial post about Ahri's top I posted a picture of the patterns I made, the stencil on the left is the one I made for the sleeve. I know it looks big, but it should! You want to leave enough room at the top and the bottom of the sleeve so it will flair out.
--- As always, pics coordinating with numbers! <3 ---
What you will need:
* Red fabric (I used satin)
* Red thread
* A strip of your white fabric
* Your fabric paints
* Paint brushes and some water/ a paper towel or two
* Optional; Wire (used to shape the top of the sleeves)
First you will make your pattern, measure the top of your arm and stretch it out so that you

- Metrocon! Which was amazing. Another fantastic year where we met some fantastic people! Will we be back next year? Honestly, we cannot say. We're not sure we can continue to afford the flight costs, so it's up in the air right now.
- Abunaicon! Dutch people are crazy. Nuff said. <3
- Alcon! Another amazing weekend! We were kinda zoned out for some of it, due to the fact we were so close to getting our house... but still an amazingly fun event.
- HOUSE! Which we have. And despite the boiler problems, everything is now finally going smoothly thanks to you guys!
- JCon! Our first time at this event, and damn it was fun! Definitely worth doing, and hopefully we'll be back next year!
So... yeah. It's been kinda busy to say the least!

FAQ: A Journal of Impossible ThingsI keep getting the same questions from both Doctor Who fans and those who have no idea what's going on, so I thought I'd write a journal entry about this project. It's a bit silly to write a separate FAQ section for this, but I really need a place to link back to whenever I'm asked something about this series of drawings.FAQ: A Journal of Impossible Things4 years ago in Personal More Like This
WHAT'S A JOURNAL OF IMPOSSIBLE THINGS?
It's a dream journal featured in the Doctor Who episodes Human Nature (3x08) and The Family of Blood (3x09). In this two-parter, the Doctor rewrote his biology and became human in order to hide from the Family of Blood. The Doctor's human persona John Smith kept a journal where he wrote down and drew things he saw in his dreams, which were actually memories of his adventures as the Doctor.
The original prop journal was created by artist Kellyanne Walker and the text was provided by Paul Cornell.
SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?
My aim is to draw my own version of the Journal. I intend to draw all

Morrowind FeatureMorrowind Feature3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind is my favourite game of all time, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I've been planning for awhile to put together a game-inspired feature; unfortunately, it is very hard to find genuine fan art since most Morrowind-related deviations on dA are game screenshots (or manipulations thereof), and I found only a limited number of devs I could use.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Morrowind is an open-ended first-person RPG with an expansive and detailed world, released in 2002. The central plot concerns the deity Dagoth Ur, housed within the volcanic Red Mountain, who seeks to gain power and break Morrowind free from Imperial reign. In addition to the extensive main quest, there are detailed discursive quests for a variety of factions, including various guilds, religious organizations, and aristocratic houses.
Lord Voryn Dagoth had been a good friend of Lord Indoril Nerevar, but they tu

Sexism in Gaming Culture LINKSSo... that last journal was a doosie wasn't it? 500+ comments and counting! Yikes. I can always count on Anita Sarkeesian to give me tons of views, lol. All joking aside, that was a very serious batch of discussions. Anytime we talk about sexism and objectification of women in gaming or geek culture, it's sure to get a lot of responses.Sexism in Gaming Culture LINKS2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sadly since Anita is such a hot-topic around the internet, there was more than one person who were trying to claim that there actually isn't ANY issue with the game industry involving sexism at all. To them, this whole idea that women are marginalized or objectified or treated badly both in the gaming industry and in geek culture is just false. It doesn't exist. And any attempt to explain why we need to change things is inherently flawed because there's no reason to do so.
So in the interest of trying to debunk that bullshit, I made a list of sources I accumulated around the internet to prove that this is indeed a problem. I think everyone can benefit f

❀ DRAGON*CON WRAP-UP ❀
I think the best word I can use to describe this convention is "overwhelming." It was an amazing weekend, but boy, it really wore me out, both physically and mentally. Between claustrophobia and social fatigue I didn't do too well with the crowds and had to retreat back to the quiet of our hotel room a few times throughout each day just to recharge.
But in spite of that it was a lot of fun! I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the congoers themselves - it's definitely an older, more mature, and honestly nicer attitude than what you see at most anime cons nowadays. So I really enjoyed how everyone was so friendly and I really felt like part of the Dragon*Con family, even though it was my first time going!
Plus, the level of craftsmanship and creativity was beyond amazing. I'm seriously motivated to step it up from here on out! (Let's just say... there's talk of

After AbunaiconWhat a weekend. After Abunaicon3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Kelly and I are finally back home after a very early flight back to London. I have to say, it was all worth it.
Abunaicon was truly fantastic! It was great meeting some of our followers from the Netherlands and pretty much everyone we met was just lovely!
It was a great test run for Gambit (my sclera contacts arrive tomorrow!!) and I've now decided to make a Human!Wheatley cosplay. Ha ha! It will be fun to be an idiotic character again.
Highlights of Abunaicon:
*Judging the Eurocosplay.
*Being chased by Batman.
*Creating world domination plans with the Joker and Harley while dressed as Loki.
*Invading panels and generally being mental.
*Killing Coulson over and over and over and OVER again!
*Squaring off to a certain Hawkeye everytime I saw her.
*ALL THE DESSERTS!!!
*Being told by four people that I look like Tom Hiddleston.
Twas an AMAZING weekend just so tiring. Phew! I really hope we can come back next year and share in all the fun. Now to plan for Alcon!

I'm just showing you what works for me and what's my personal liking. I'm focusing on eye make-up and additional tips. If you think this way of doing a boys cosplay make-up is is using way too much make-up that's totally fine. Everyone has his/her own preferences and this tutorial is just a hint who it can be done.
The shape of eyes differ a lot from one to another, so if you want to try it the way I do my make-up you might have to adjust it to your own eyes. Maybe you have already run into this problem before while seeing a well done eye make-up in a tutorial or worn by an asian cosplayer. Furthermore be aware of the fact that the shape of your eyebrows, wearing c
