You will notice this issue is jam packed with another thing I hold dear to my heart... skulls! Each work was specifically chosen because of its unique use of a skull or because they made a skull the focus of the piece. I hope you all will enjoy these works as much as I do! So let the skull cracking begin!

Everyone has heard of it, everyone fears the very sight of it, but if you are an artist, there is a good chance it creeps at you regularly, more often than a flu, in various forms and intensity; in psychology, Frustration is a common emotional response to opposition / obstacle, is related to anger and disappointment and its strength depends on the size of the established challenge. When Frustration calls you more often than your mother does, it's time to take an action!
1. - TAKE A WALK
Try to get your feelings straight by walking it out of your system. Is it raining or snowing? Even better, get soaked and dry out.
2. - SHIFT YOUR FOCUS
Sleep on it. Make yourself busy with small repetitive tasks, watch a good movie or comedy, play a game, visit your family or a friend, cook a new recipe, get a haircut, tidy up your room or house, watch a documentary, have a chocolate, take a horse ridi

So I just broke the Red X/Jason Todd theory...Out of complete boredom I broke any relations of Jason Todd and Red X ever possibly being the same person.. Now time to explain~!So I just broke the Red X/Jason Todd theory...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
In September of 2004, the Teen Titans character Red X (II/2) was introduced as an antihero of the series.. In February of 2005 Jason Todd was officially introduced as "Red Hood." How could Red X be based on a character who basically had not existed at that time?
Copying to learnI have been asked a few times whether it's ok to copy someone's style of drawing just to practice. I must admit that I've done my share of copying when I was in high school, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as you move on from just imitation to developing your own creative style. The way I see it is that when you're copying, you are trying to understand how the artist is thinking when he/she draws, and through that you learn more about what it is you are drawing and that's when you can start creating your own style. I had mentioned before that back in school, I got to the point where I could pretty much mimic Naoko Takeuchi's style and draw my own original Sailormoon fan art in it, but over time I found that it was lacking because it really wasn't 'me' coming through in the work… which lead me to explore and look into what was to become my current 'style.' Of course it didn't just come to me overnight, and it was informed by more than just Sailormoon – ratheCopying to learn2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Some of the judges' comments about this entry:
"The detail and clarity in this drawing is amazing. The colors are beautifully used together. "
"I can tell that this person worked very hard and very carefully on this deviation."
"There's something very capturing in this piece, something in the colors and the pattern of her shadow that makes it look so vintage."

How should I price my art?Hi,How should I price my art?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you spend a lot of time in the DA forums, you will see this topic spring up again and again. Whether you want to earn a living doing freelance art, or you just want to do an occasional commission, these guidelines may help you:
Why is it so difficult to choose a price? Why can't someone look at my art and tell me what to charge? Because it is not just about price and skill level! If three people can draw the same drawing with the same level of skill, one might be able to sell the art for $10, another might be able to sell the art for $100 and the third might not be able to sell it at all depending on how good they are at "marketing" (looking for clients and interacting with them). An artist's ability to seek out clients, choose the right clients, offer a type of work that will sell, communicate effectively, and provide value that their competitors cannot match... is difficult to gauge by looking at a few art samples.
The starting price you pick right now doesn't have to
Five Nights at Freddy's TheoriesWhile I absolutely hate horror games and refuse to play them, I get very interested in the backstory for them, what happens to the player if they die and so-on, and right now a very popular horror game is Five Nights at Freddy's because of how it's designed, so here's some theories.Five Nights at Freddy's Theories7 months ago in Personal More Like This
THEORY ONE: THE ANIMATRONICS
The bad guys of the game are the animatronic animal band of the building, during the night they come to life on their own and wander the halls. The one rule they have is the endoskeletons (robot bits) are not allowed to be outside their costumes, and they believe that the player is one of the endoskeletons without a costume. The animatronics believe that the way to solve this problem is to take you and try to shove you into a costume half your size that is already occupied by the robot parts, wires, gears and the sort, resulting in the robots crushing you to death.
THEORY TWO: THE PLAYER
Right at the beginning of the game it shows a small help wanted article for th

About The AcademyIntroductionAbout The Academy5 years ago in Personal More Like This
We formed a small group of devoted artists to build this project. Our goal is to create motivation and contribute to our dA community.
We noticed that most artist groups on dA are strictly connected to technical and educational side of art. That's why we decided to create our own project, where we would create a playful environment with a lot of opportunities to express your creativity and interact with other artists.
Imagine an online role-playing game, where you communicate with others through pictures you draw. Yep, that's us.
Our main purpose is to offer people opportunities and a base for them to practice creating comics, working in groups, storytelling, character designing, and more. Yet, we try to keep all of this "learning" to a fun role-playing experience. Present yourself, draw your quests, tell your story, show your passion. Fight against the hardships of student life.

One of the rare places on the planet where art has not greatly benefited from the Internet, and the free expression its unfettered discussion encourages, has been Cuba.
The official U.S. economic embargo of Cuban goods has been in place since 1960, making the sale of art to wealthy American investors a hassle involving shipping through third

Chapter 1: The Definition of Magic
Every creature is born with a natural ability to absorb from the environment and store magical energy called Eden in their body. To be able to channel this energy and cast it is what we call "magic" or "spells." These Eden-users or mages are named Factors.
The capacity of each Factor is unique. Someone can be born with a immense capacity to store Eden, some might have a rather small one. That's why some are born as a natural Factor, some will have great difficulty becoming a Factor at all.
As we get older, this ability weak

Draw every day; nothing works like practice, and relax, setbacks are temporary and anxiety smothers genius. Entertain your curiosity, but don't let it run a muck.
Use music to your advantage, don't let it muffle your thoughts. Nearly everyone enjoys music; wake up to something, but turn it down when you need to think. Explore new music; share and be receptive in this.
Get lost in your work, don't dawdle; be economical.
Respect anyone willing to support your work; listen to what they say. Take time to appreciate flattery, but don't revel in it. Heed insults; DON'T respond to them. Receive every criticism, but don't let them discourage you.

A New Wind Lifts Storytelling
First imagined as a bedtime tale for his son by Kenneth Grahame in 1908, The Wind in the Willows has remained in the top twenty children’s stories ever since. But things have been getting weird out in the Willows, as the new comic on deviantART, Weirding Willows, will attest to.
Badger, Mole, Ratty and Mr. Toad are back… but they’re joined by Alice, Frankenstein’s Monster, Mowgli, The White Rabbit, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny as they defend the world from the Wicked Witch of the West, Doctor Moreau, the Mad Hatter, Mister Hyde and the Queen of Hearts (not to mention the flying nightmare monkeys from Wizard of Oz.)

It is my hope that she has simply taken a much deserved unscheduled pre-Halloween “vacation” and will be back in online communication soon.
