"Code yellow, code yellow."
A computerized voice repeated itself over and over throughout the whole station. Rangers of all shape, size and species ran in every direction possible. Some where heading spaceships while some rushed to the center control room and others rushed to meet with their team to talk about their new mission. Yet one peg legged man stood arm crossed outside his office.
"Damn all these codes! If it isn't codes then it is just something else. We are running out of rangers." Commander Nebula growled annoyingly as he hobbled down the hall to where the spaceships were stationed. To his luck one certain spaceship was just returning while all the others are leaving.
"Hey there Commander. Did we miss something?" Buzz asked as he marched out of ship 42. Behind him appeared the rest of Team Lightyear.
Speaking SilencesSometimes, there’s nothing I value more in Nos than his instinctual knowledge of when not to talk.Speaking Silences4 months ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
The 2nd floor of the library is warmer than ground level, so we’re up here, leaning together on the sofa between two bookshelves. I’m wrapped in the biggest, thickest, softest blanket in the house. Too tired to open my book, I merely hold it, folding my arms around it so that it’s against my chest. It’s a nice, big, heavy book.
Nos is doing something for his work. Probably responding to messages ‒ that’s almost always it. He could be contacting a potential new company, corresponding with one of his current manufacturers, or answering an inquiry. While I envy his work in that he creates his own schedule and gets to stay home, I’m glad I get my days off completely to myself.
I should use them to spend more time in sleep mode.
Even though the clouds are heavy and snow lines the window sills, it is undeniably daytime, and my thought processors a
Golden SeasonI remember being four years old. I remember spending almost every day in my mother’s garden, where she hovered about her plants like the breeze. The garden was a square plot of a land attached to the front of the house, a packed gravel pathway splitting it from the front door to the gate in the fence. There was a bench on the left side of the path against the house, and a flower bed on the right. The lawn was all green, and tall trees stood sentry in each corner of the fence.Golden Season2 months ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
In my head, the picture isn’t complete without Mom. When she moved, her flowers would rise to greet her. She sewed and harvested life with her pale fingers, using the wooden-handled tools stemming from the deep pockets of her faded gardening apron, silver slivers of metal showing just before they were swallowed by the fabric. I couldn’t name most of her tools when I was four, but I had fun figuring them out. One of them was wide near the handle then tapered to a point, and she used it to dimple t

"Son why don't you check the status of that mystery cargo?" said Commander Nebula.
"Absolutely that a job for someone like me. Later Pop." said XR as he went through the tranport chute to head to the cargo room.
Now XR of course would do anything his "dad" said because he was always trying so hard to try and impress him. He wanted to prove that he could be a great space ranger. But he also wanted to do this because he too was curious about this strange cargo that Buzz and Mira had found.
XR jumped out of the chute into the cargo room where the mysterious box was being held. He activated his microphone to keep a data log about his observation.
"Ranger logperation check on the mystery cargo" he said in a dramatic tone.
He wheeled himself to get a closer look at the box. He had to admit that it was very stange looking. It was wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. On the side in red letters it said "NOS-4-A2".
"Nos-4-A2? I wonder what that means." he thought to himself.
XR wondered w

Waking up was a slow process for Nos and Two. After a night’s cycle without consuming energy, the Vampire was about as eager to get up as he was to eat vegetables. Two was used to being refreshed from a night of recharging, but because of her recent change in species, drowsy morning snuggling was impossible to resist.
Nos would always wake up first by his inner low-battery warning. It wasn’t so much of an alarm as a reminder, but he found it pointless all the same. He would tune it out and gradually come online, scarlet optics giving off a pulsating light until they fixed into a dim glow. His night vision would perfectly shape his mate’s delicate body in the dim morning light that seeped through the thick curtains over the windows, and as his sensors warmed up, he would feel the gentle ebb and flow of her electrical signal washing around him. Two’s sleek metal, grade 5 titanium alloy glossed with a bullet-proof coating, felt s

There was still blue light lingering in the sky outside the lab. He looked out the window in the door that opened to the courtyard. The only light out there was the one within the fountain, throwing ripples across the shadows. Two wasn’t there as far as he could tell. Fletcher cracked the door open enough to slip through and hovered as fast as he could manage over the gravel path. It was coming up again... he went faster, though it wrenched at the sharp pain in his middle. The lights weren’t on in the hallway connecting the bedrooms, and the square shape of the house thwarted the vestigial glow of any lingering sunlight, leaving the dark stone walls the same ambiguous shade of blue as th

The Solution (Part 2)Nothing hurt. He was traveling fast, faster than his own thrusters could have sent him, protected from the night air by two arms. The plush surface he was lying on was alive with wiring. It overwhelmed his sensors, but his limbs had turned to lead and his mouth was beyond his control. He opened his eyeforms. Fluorescent light painted everything pale, and voices spoke in hushed tones... no, she was yelling. She was crying. He wanted to look, but a foreign energy wormed into his mind and put him back into sleep mode.
A tube was sending something liquid down his throat. He was sure that it was about to rise, tear him apart, finish him off... but there was no such reaction. He couldn’t tell if it was because he didn’t have the energy to reject it, or maybe it was that the tube was

Ashlen Hopper felt really weird and oddly young. One moment she was picnicking with her ten year old son in a beautiful guardian and the next minute she felt as if she was being tugged away. Having felt that something was wrong, Ashlen had tried to resist but whatever was pulling her from her son was strong. John kept crying out for his mother and tried grabbing Ashlen's hands but their fingers slipped from each other. The next thing the thirty six year old woman knew was that she slipped into a world of darkness.
The next thing Ashlen felt was someone poking her cheek. She thought it might have been her son but she couldn't find herself opening her mouth to form any words. After t

"Found it!" He yelled then flipped it on, Buzz whipped around his blaster in both hands, but he didn't see what he expected... To Buzz it was kinda... Really strange. Buzz lowered his gun and raised an eyebrow his face coated in shock confusion and ... more shock.

This medal was the Cosmic Pulsar award, for honorable acts in extreme situations. They had rescued an entire endangered culture from a tiny planet by a collapsing sun. He had been charging from a mission earlier that day, when he had been run down badly.
He sighed. XR’s batteries weren’t what they used to be. They hadn’t been in years, and wouldn’t be until they were changed by the LGMs. But due to Nebula saving money, XR’s batteries didn’t get changed until he had to charge more than twice a day, not counting his nightly charge. He was already at once a day, usually right around noon.
Normally he wouldn’t brood on this stuff. XR was a good bot, and a

Nos-4-a2 and Two didn’t have to wait long for the next train to Balbar when they reached the station. Just as it always happened whenever they left their neighborhood, they got a few weird looks, but nothing extreme. Earth was a safe haven for refugees from the First War, and there were quite a few aliens that stuck out from the primarily Human crowds. Nos-4-a2 was still a bit different, but not so much that people would call him out. He was only careful to show his fangs as little as possible.
The couple took a row in the back to themselves and chatted lightly on the fifteen-minute ride from their home in the capitol. Two told Nos about the effect of his new battery formula and Nos told Two about the business. When they exhausted those topics, all attention went to the baby. It was only a month away from the expected birth date.
Should they buy clothes while they were out? (“We still can't tell the baby’s shape...”). What about decorations fo

It had been three days since Ashlen Hopper had been reincarnated into the body of a seventeen year old cyborg. It had also been only a few hours less since she had escaped that space station, stowawayed on a cargo ship and arrived on the planet known as Trade World. Which was an alien planet that reminded Ashlen of two American cities back on Earth. So far things hadn't got any better for the young again witch. In fact things had even gotten a little worse. Emotional worse that is. Once Ashlen had some time to calm down her mood went from anger to depression quite quickly.
She had been quite happy in her after life, as any good soul would be. Even after seven hundred years, as she had been told, nothing ever got boring in the after world. There was always something to do to keep the spirits happy. In fact the after world could be compared to a planet of it's own. Each part of the world was something different to fit every dead soul's nee

Normally it was the same: him being turned evil again and unable to fight off the control. The energy vampire may be long vaporized after XL helped them and turned good but the fear that he could once again return brought on another different type of nightmare.
This one dealt with the new bond he had been getting with XL. Already they were becoming tight knit and XL took on the big brother role as if he had been created for it. In this nightmare the scene with the Wirewolf played out differently. Instead of what happened XL grabbed the vampire and flew up into space with him before self destructing and taking the villain with him in an act of bravery.

It was a Tradeworld mission, a 0-8-15 Tradeworld mission. But why did it have to be a mission with the energy-vampire? Repressing a whimper the robot shut his optics closed. Buzz and Mira were out searching for Nos-4-A2. They had split up so their chances of finding him were higher, and XR was teamed up with Booster, the Jo-Adian who was dealing with the energy-vampire right now.
The robot ranger was Booster's backup.
Well, supposed to be.
The two of them were best friends, the inseparable kind, but Booster didn't want him as a backup, he'd shooed him away and the reason was obvious. Nos-4-A2, the energy-vampire, was XR's self-proclaimed arch-enemy, always lusting for revenge and his power. Not the mighty might power kind of thing, but the energy he was running on, XR's very life-source. Two was very cold.
She couldn’t remember what happened, only aware that it was raining (or was it snowing?), and that she couldn’t control her systems. Visual Receptors: OFFLINE. Auditory Receivers: FAULTY. Speaker System: ERROR. The only things that were still working were her artificial nerve endings, letting her feel the harsh burn of sub-zero temperatures.
She kept phasing in and out of activation.
It was getting colder, if that was even possible. Her body was almost completely numb save for the tormenting cold.
The thought faintly occurred to Two that this may be her final resting place.
It was hard to stay awake. Maybe she wasn’t awake.
Just as she began to slip into the final phase of sleep mode, a sound piqued her fading attention. Was it a voice, or the wind?
“Eve... are you alright?”
That was certainly a voice...

On the operation table laid Zurg's newest creation, a robot to be more specific. Although it wasn't just any robot and nowhere near being just another hornet.
