It's Artist's Toolbox again! And it wouldn't be right if we skipped an article representing traditional media For today's topic I picked Pencil, probably the most traditional of them all. Even if you thought you already knew everything there is to know about pencils, give this article a shot, it might surprise you ! Skipping School for VideogamesHi there Ryceballs, its story time again. So come over and sit on papa Ry's lap, this will be fun. I'm gonna be talking about how I used to skip school to go home and play videogames, I used to do this a lot. Now before I begin I just gota say.... kids DO NOT skip school, get those grades cos you'll need them in the future! My grades at school were terrible, for good reasons too.. like this whole truanting deal for one. Im REALLY lucky that I am still alive today I swear. SO DON'T FOLLOW WHAT I DID, Im bad influence ok. Got that? GOODSkipping School for Videogames2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You know, the cool kids would skip school to bring their hot girlfriend home for some hardcore snogging. While kids like me would skip school, then go home to spend time rescuing Princess Zelda. My parents were really strict though, I was only allowed to play my 64 on the weekend and only an hour per weekday, I always wondered if they were actually Ganondorf's minions. Yo the princess needs to be saved wat r u doing?! What wins is that I liv
Back from RysolationDear Ryceballs. I have returned. It was a short hiatus, but it was a necessary one. I traveled miles and miles on foot into the Indian Desert by myself, in hope that I would be able to find my missing soul, cos thats what people do when they wanna find their soul right? They always go to India. I called it my 'rysolation period'. So I was out soul searching. On my journey, people has been encouraging to me, giving me kind words and needed motivational speeches, I thank you, you know who you are. I think I am more collected and positive now. Yeah I think I am back. Oh also on my soul search I have had time to work out some 'things'. So yeah look forward to more 'things' from me in the future. The desert was hot as hell by the way, don't really recommend it, what my soul was doing there is beyond me.Back from Rysolation2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Alleyway IncidentHiya Ryceballs. I left out something on my previous journal, something I kinda wanted to talk about but was a bit scared to... But I have decided that maybe its better to get it off my chest. This is a true story and it happened two weeks ago while I was in Melbourne for Armageddon Expo, it was a sunday night, I had a long day selling artworks and I was back in the hotel room chilling, at around 10pm I got hungry and realised I don't have much to eat, I didn't wanna call room service because I wasn't sure if food is still available that late. So knowing the 24/7 grocery store is just a block away, I decided to head out to buy a cup noodle or something. It was pretty dark outside with a bit of rain as well, much to my annoyance, but I was really really hungry. Now the proper way to get to the grocery store is to walk around the block, OR I can take a shortcut and go through the alleyway.... I tend to always walk around the block as I didn't wanna get mugged, if Batman has taught me anytAlleyway Incident2 years ago in Personal More Like This

A RetrospectiveHello Ryceballs! So I was looking through my god awful gallery the other day and had a nostalgic moment when I saw some of my old artworks, I am happy to say that I have improved over the 5 years stay here on Deviantart (Thank god...). So I just want to show you a few of my earlier artworks and talk a little about the story behind each one of them. I must admit that the early artworks you see on this list is not REALLY the first few artworks I uploaded on Deviantart, but I have since got rid of my even older ones because I really really dislike them, I don't want you guys to vomit blood ok. If you guys REALLY want to see the ones I have deleted.. I guess I can dig into the abyss of my old computer and find it. Anyways here goes!A Retrospective2 years ago in Personal More Like This

SAY HELLO TO YOUR THIRD UNCLE'S WIFE'S MOTHER'S BROTHER'S SON'S STEP SISTER'S CAT'S COUSIN'S FATHER'S OWNER'S DAUGHTER'S SECOND BROTHER: Thats me in the middle (Not really) reading a book with a lot of relatives looking at me with their creepy faces. The thing is that all of those uncles has different unique titles, like 2nd uncle, 3rd uncle, 4th uncle. Then it can get more complicated like 2nd uncle's son, 3rd uncle's daughter. Then it can get even more complicated when you have to remember the title for relatives like your uncle's son's wife's mother's brother! And trust me even a complicated link like that has a unique title in chinese, and I am supposed to remember the title... Oh by the way as a duty from the youngest person in the family
Questioned by the Hong Kong PoliceSo where was I? Oh yes I was gonna talk about my experiences with the Hong Kong police, so here goes. OK this is the problem, whenever I visit Hong Kong I always have the fear of being questioned by the police, well not exactly fear because I've got nothing to hide, but whenever I am alone walking on the street and a policeman on patrol sees me, they would ALWAYS 100% stop and ask for my ID. For those ain't familiar with how things work in Hong Kong is that if they see a teenager (Especially male) on the street not in their school uniform during school time or with dyed hair or pretty much just 'gangster' or suspicious looking, they have the right to stop you in the middle of nowhere and question you. Now I match every bit of suspicion possible, what they are trying to check is if there's any sort of crime around the area so they can narrow down the suspects, or to check whether you are legal to be in Hong Kong, or whether you've got drugs on you. That art thief SOB in the Artist AlleyOk here it is, the long awaited journal about that art thief guy at Animania a few weeks back, I promised I will write about it and here it is. I thought a lot about whether I should write about this because if its just a random art thief then I really don't mind dissing his grass.. but unfortunately that S.O.B also happens to be the brother of a High School friend of mine... :icontableflipplz:That art thief SOB in the Artist Alley2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This whole thing occurred in an anime convention that has been going downhill since a few years back, every year it gets worse and worse, to the point that I am now calling it Emptimania. It is no secret that the management is terrible, and that includes making sure that there are no bootleg stores around.... I don't know if they are just ignorant that there are bootleg stores there, or whether they dont give a duck because hey they get money from people getting a table. So anyway I was at the artist alley selling my things like usual, then a couple of tables down I noticed a guy, he looked fami
Wack'em Sinteeeeek 13HD ReviewHiya Ryceballs. As some of you know, I was askin for opinions a few journals back about the Wacom Cintiq, you lovely people gave me some great advice and tips and one even went as far as to find me an Australian website with a cheaper price. And she saved me $200, so special thanks to KokoroKanon for doing that. So yes I have been using the Wacom for more than a week now, I didn't wanna write a review until I get the SmudgeGuard, a SmudgeGuard is pretty much looks like a glove cut in half, it looks like a futuristic glove in Minority Report, the reason I wanted a SmudgeGuard is because I tend to get sweaty hands so I did not wanna dirty the Cintiq screen at all, it costed me around $20 to get that. An alternative is just buy a cheap glove and cut off the top three fingers.... you can then use the cut off three fingers glove and put it on your head so you can pretend to be chicken.Wack'em Sinteeeeek 13HD Review2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Fandom Pains, Cont'd.Allow me to clarify my point further. I don't mean to say "everyone has to write fanfiction the same way" or "don't draw this kind of fan art". People can write or draw whatever the hell they want, and I don't have to look at it if I don't want. But my main gripe is when the perverted vocal minority of a fanbase gets so loud and obnoxious that it overtakes the nice quiet people who just want to enjoy the show or movie or whatever. When the people who partake in the sleazier side of fandom take the spotlight and become the public's main perception of what all fans are like.Fandom Pains, Cont'd.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Not all MLP fans are demented furries with a fetish for clopfic; most of us just think it's a cute little show with a great cast of characters. Not all Wreck-It Ralph fans are insane Turbo defenders or squicky Jawbreaker shippers; most of us just find it to be a very entertaining and inspiring film. But when those obnoxious fans start acting out more, whether it's just because they want to make a point or because the
FML. The Super Mario Galaxy StoryYou guys like story yeah? Let uncle Ry tell you a story, there's a lesson to learn here kids. Pay attention. I wanna talk about this now because last week was my birthday and it reminded me of this story, its related to a birthday gift. The gift was Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. This story happened a few years ago.FML. The Super Mario Galaxy Story1 year ago in Personal More Like This
This is a picture of me playing the Nintendo Wii, I love my Wii. Had lots of great times on it playing games like Smash Brothers and Mario Kart and Twilight Princess, and a game I really loved called Super Mario Galaxy. The story takes place around 2009? A couple of years after the Wii came out. So one day a friend of mine Matt messaged me telling me he got a Wii, I thought great, about time he got a Wii. So I congratulated him, then he asked the question. :I He asked whether he can borrow some games and I was like 'HMMMMMMMM SHIT'. Well Matt is a nice guy, pretty honest and pretty generous. I usually am pretty generous too but when it comes to games, I hate lending it out
Artists Toolbox: MarkersArtists Tool Box: MarkersArtists Toolbox: Markers7 months ago in Art Features More Like This
So today I want to talk to you guys about one of my favourite colouring tools: markers. We've all seen them and used them, from the scented ones that some of us tried not to lick in grade 1 to the Crayolas that are everywhere to Sharpie Markers in the back-to-school section to the fancy markers that can only be bought in art supply stores. So here's what you need to know about markers
Cheap or expensive, easy to find or not, markers can be easily broken down into 2 types: water-based and alcohol-based. For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to stick with 4 of the most common brands of art markers: Sharpies, Prisma Colors, Copics and Lyra Aqua Brush Pens. Of these, only the Lyra markers are water-based; the other 3 are alcohol based.
Lyras, Copics and Prisma Colors tend to be double ended; one end tends to have a wider, wedge shaped tip and the other end typically has a finer tip or a brush. Sharpies are single ended
Artists Toolbox: Colored PencilsColored pencils are widely used as a fun and readily available art tool. I'm sure most if not all of us have tried our hand at colored pencils, even if it was only while we were children. While colored pencils may not be as respected as paints such as oil, acrylic or watercolors, colored pencils shouldn't be under-estimated in the impact they can and do have on the art world.Artists Toolbox: Colored Pencils2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Different Types of Colored Pencils
Wax based colored pencils are probably the most common and readily available types of colored pencils on the market. As with any type of colored pencil, these come in varying qualities and prices.
Oil based colored pencils in my experience are not as easy to find unless you are shopping online or in an art store. These colored pencils are excellent if you are planing on coloring on wood or another similar surface. Blending oil based colored pencils ca
My 3CHiya Ryceballs, today I wanna talk about three amazing artists that has inspired and motivated and kinda shaped who I am as an artist today, all three of them has a Deviantart account so you can check out their stuff if you like. And all three of them so happen to have their name starting with C, how about that huh? So I guess a tip is if you wanna become an amazing artist, change your name to something starting with C. So glad voting is over ..For all Ryceballs outside of Australia, be happy that voting is not mandatory for you. Ok if you didn't know this, in Australia if you don't vote you'll get fined. So even if you do not care about what happens in the government or your town mayor/leader/guy or whatever it is called (Like me), you STILL have to make your way to the nearest voting place to vote. Well I had to do exactly that today. So glad voting is over ..2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Thats me in the middle confused as hell as to what I am doing there in the voting booth. I made a poll last week asking what the public think about this topic, whether voting should be mandatory or not, and 69% of you guys thinks that it SHOULDN'T be. (Wow 69). And I agree with ya'll 69%. I think it should be the people's right whether they want to get involved with our government mess or not, NOT FORCING US TO DO IT. Its especially annoying when you are out of town that weekend or you are just wayyy too busy to go. I myself travels a lot so its a hassle for me. Not only that but you ju

Apologies for 3DS Swapnote/Letterbox SuspensionAs you may know, a few days ago Nintendo suspended 3DS's swapnote/letterbox (Depending on which country your from) system, due to users exchanging offensive material. What Letterbox is? its a software that allows you to write letters or draw doodles or attach pictures and send it to your friends. Its a great little fun software, I always liked Letterbox, I use it a lot to draw funny pictures of pikachu and top hats to friends. And... also for.. umm...... *deep breath 1 2 3* Ok. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen. And not in an 'anime-humor' kind of way. Just like watching real people in real jobs take it really seriously is hilarious. Especially since it's Satan.
It's all on Hulu - Give it a go lol
Not to mention they're all kind of adorable - Like children learning how to pay rent and survive lol

Fandom PainsSo I'm over on Equestria Daily yesterday, and they've got this discussion going where the fans have to think up their own episode ideas. And while a few people are taking it seriously and exploring new possibilities of the characters' personalities and the show's universe, most people are just coming up with the most disturbing self-gratifying shit. And without the slightest trace of irony, either.Fandom Pains2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was warned about the unsavory side of the fanbase when I started watching the show, but I figured "Oh, I can just ignore that, it's no big deal." But they're everywhere. People who draw creepy explicit fan art. Or write vicious hate-fics. Or rant endlessly about how Twilight having wings is somehow a travesty to all mankind. Or have disturbing unhealthy obsessions with side characters. It all feels like they're feeding into the brony stereotype, not because they genuinely like the show that much, but as if they're just trying to say "Look at me! I'm a grown man who likes
Symbol(s) for the non Premium DeviantsHello my Ryceballs. So eversince DA's recent symbol changes, I have been hearing a lot of complaints. Mostly about how regular non premium members don't even get a symbol. It makes them feel like they are not important. Its ok I hear ya I hear ya. And you know me, I am all about the people. Ry-Spirit cares. So I thought about this a lot and try to think of an appropriate symbol that best suits our non premium friends, at the end I came up with a symbol... WELL I say a symbol but its more like a string of symbols. I feel like this is the only option for it to work. And I have used myself as an example of what the symbols would look like if I am in fact a regular deviant. Tales of the missing Car Park TicketThis happened two days ago when I had to go to a shopping mall called Westfield. I was there to receive my copy of Zelda Skyward Sword as well as trading in the frustrating Goldeneye Reloaded for possibly Skyrim.Tales of the missing Car Park Ticket3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The story begins as I drove to Westfield, got into the car park, its one of those car parks that requires you to get a ticket and if you are only there for 3 hours or less you wouldn't need to pay anything, then they charge you per hour after etc etc. My mind was still deep in thoughts about my grandfather's death that happened a few days ago so I wasn't really paying attention to what's happening around me. So I got into the shopping mall, got Skyward Sword, got rid of the stupid annoying Goldeneye Reloaded and traded it in for Skyrim. I then walked around the mall a little bit, went into Toys R Us and wandered around like a pedophile, I even went into the girls section for a bit (What? I like Monster High, don't judge me.) I spent around half an hour in the mall pretty much,

I might as well begin with an apology for a journal I posted half a year ago back in December 2012 about the misleading fun and joy I had with the Wii U. I say misleading because at the time yes I was having lots of fun with games like New Super Mario Brothers Wii U and Scribblenauts Unlimited and Nintendoland. And sure! They were great fun, I mean those are games that I have finished already (after like a month, cos its so freakin easy! Difficulty level where did you go) but I might still one day go back to it and replay it from the beginning just for fun's sake, but then now what..? Its mid May 2013 and there hasn't been any new games that ain't either cross platform or ones I ain't interested in. And trust me if the Wii U game is cross platform I would definately get the PS3 or 360 version because 1) The controller's more comf
