She was also a bit hungry but she didn't know if her stomach would be able to hold anything down yet and she didn't want to risk it. "Are you awake Korra?" he said rubbing the back of her neck.
"Yeah" she answered with a laugh, it tickled.
He slowly got up and sat her up in bed. She winced at the pain in her side but didn't complain. He checked her back. He had concern in his eyes. "What is it Mako?" she asked.
"Your back is bleeding a little" he said. "I'm going to go get your mother".
"Wait" she said holding his arm when he started to leave.
"What is it?"
"I don't want to stay alone" she whispered. Ever since she had found out Amon had died, she feared that he'd appear to her in her sleep or worse hallucinate about him.
He looked at her and cradled he

So much to do. So much to consider.
Darkness had settled hours ago and the house was finally quiet. Though weary from a long day, Diana knew that sleep would be a difficult prize to claim, especially with everything in her mind that vied for her attention. She lay on her back, right in the middle of her spacious bed as she stared at the ceiling with troubled blue eyes. With one hand laying on her belly and the other arm curled around her head, she did her best to relax her body, hoping that her mind would soon follow. Her long black hair was pulled to one side and was flailed out on her pillow and bed. Her spacious bedroom was dimly lit in the warm blue glow offered by the full moon. There were not many furnishings, only the bed, desk across the room under the window and a wardrobe that was made of some dark wood. Two other pieces had joined the

Commissioner Gordon stood on the roof, his hands in the pockets of his overcoat as he stared up at the bat signal that shined brightly on the clouds above. With him were two uniformed police officers, both of whom watched the signal on the clouds as well. The spotlight that sent it there illuminated much of the roof surrounding it, but behind it and in the distance, all was shrouded in shadows, and everyone present knew that Batman would emerge from those shadows. The sounds of the blowing wind would mask the approach of the Dark Knight and tensions were high as the three awaited him.
A loud, mechanical click sounded from behind them and the spotlight went out, plunging much of the rooftop back into darkness. Only the two lights that flanked the one door that accessed the roof illuminated the roof to any degree. Even as the two policemen spun around, Gordon turned almost casually, looking to the shadowy figure who stood

The Dark Knight was many things: imposing, large, scary, intimidating, pushy, bossy, sarcastic, mean, quiet and broody. But he was never late.
"Walk faster, Dick. I can't miss this meeting." Bruce hissed under his breath, just quiet enough so that that the reporters couldn't hear. The last thing he needed was for the press to think that Bruce Wayne threatened his ward.
"Hmph, why do we even have to be here?" Dick huffed, snatching his hand free of Bruce's grip and crossing his arms tightly across his chest, a small pout working its way over his eleven-year-old face.
"I told you, there was a break in at one of the Wayne Tech centers in Star City. I have

The "it" in question was Robin and Kid Flash, and it confused him to no end.
The first time it happened was on their first mission (the unplanned one where they broke into Cadmus and discovered Superboy) and Robin had let his grappling hook fly. Right as he was about to go up, Wally had grabbed onto his utility belt and had whizzed up alongside him. Kaldur had let it go, figuring that it had been a clever, if a bit bold, way of hitching a ride.
But then he remembered another time when Robin and Kid Flash had needed to go to Gotham (Kaldur hadn't wondered why then, but he was certainly curious now.) Rather than take a zeta beam or catch a jet, Wally had simply strapped on his goggles and bent down. Robin, not to be outdone, had hopped on top, piggyback-style, and they had taken off, Robin's black and gold cape flying behind them like a farewell wave.
That had been strange.

Avengers Tower, the building was in frenzy as Iron Man, Hank Pym, Beast, and Miguel O’Hara were preparing the machine needed to return Peter Parker to his rightful body.
“Is everything in order?” Miguel asked.
“Yes, Strange used his magic to keep Octavius’s original brain alive enough to extract Peter’s consciousness, though it was slightly damaged by decomposition so we also extract the genetic memories of Kaine and the Venom symbiote to create a perfect copy of Peter’s mind.” Stark answered Spider-Man 2099.
“Good. Now there’s one last thing we need. To keep this machine stable and allow us to both terminate the Octavius mind and place Peter’s mind back in, we need a telepath to keep Otto in check and us safe.” Miguel explained the final piece of his plan.
“Then you have the last part of your plan Miguel…” A weak female voice was heard as the scientist looked to se

The lights were low in the central control room of the Watchtower and when the doors slid shut behind Wonder Woman she did not stray more than a step or two from them as her eyes found that one lonely figure sitting at the main console. A familiar creeping began in her stomach and she drew a calming breath. She feared almost nothing, but this was a conversation she had hidden from for almost two decades. Finally striding forward, her steps were as confident as she could manage and she was able to control the shaking of her knees very well. It was not a long walk, but it sure seemed to take forever.
Finally reaching the occupied chair, she grasped it with one hand, the console with the other as she looked to the large view screen that was right in front of the man who worked the controls. Silence thickened the air around them and the tension mounted.

"That is just totally wicked," the girl said with a laugh.

"I believe you, Mom. Hey! Maybe we can, like, go and do a Justice League mission or something. It would be all kinds of fun!"
With a little smile, Diana confirmed, "Sure, I'd like that. But not until I get you clearance, understand?"

Most of the structures on Themyscira were ancient Greek style in construction, as their culture was largely ancient Greek in makeup, and built of marble or limestone for the most part. A training center near the middle of the island was one of the largest. Like most structures, it had a walled open courtyard all the way around it, four entrances into the structure itself, and large marble columns that held up the stone roof. The inside of the perimeter wall was adorned with gardens with a track of clean sand right inside of the gardens that measured over three miles around the building, and inside of these were the training fields for this facility, and they were all in heavy use this day. Four obstacle courses, one on each side of the huge, three level structure, were of varying degrees of difficulty for different kinds of training and were named for Greek Gods.
On the south side of the structure, a group of women had just finished

“Come on Octavius! I thought you had more fight in you?!” The newly symbiotic enhanced Peter Parker demanded as held Otto Octavius, now in his first “Superior” costume, by the throat. It seemed so quick once the symbiote rejoined with Peter as he not only freed himself of Otto’s trap, but attacked him so viscously that his costume “shattered” like glass.
“What the hell was that costume glass thing anyway?” Flash asked as the attack also freed them of the mechanical tentacles trapping them.
“That was Octavius’s very soul being attacked.” Julia Carpenter’s voiced explained “Memories and experiences are built in layers within one’s mind and soul. When the symbiote severed Otto’s connection to Peter’s brain, the damage destroyed a chunk of his consciousness. The change in Octavius’s appearance is a manifestation of the damage.”

He rose from the chair as he removed the device on his head. A device that was used to eliminate the remains of his greatest enemy. But not only eliminated, but humiliated and "proved" to Peter Parker that he was the better Spider-Man.

Otto then rises from the chair and looked at the mirror, admiring his new youth that he'd taken and realized just how it feels to win.
It was then he heard his cellphone ring. He looked down and saw it was Mary Jane Watson , the woman Peter loved and the woman Otto originally lusted over before he felt he needed to keep her "safe". He decided to ignore it, he wanted to gloat more into his victory instead. Moments later the call went straight to voicemail and

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I've been sitting on this one for a while. I didn't know if I liked it when I first wrote it and then I kind of forgot about it. However, my new poll has reminded me that many of you want to see more in the Linchpin verse, so I dug this out and cleaned it up a bit. It's nothing but pure fluff – which is why I think I'm so iffy about it. There is no Robin Torture at all in it! Seriously!

Chapter Twelve: Amazing vs. Superior Part 1.
“I’m alive?” Peter Parker questioned in a whisper as he tried to comprehend his resurrection that nearly ended in disaster. He then noticed his surroundings as he saw four individuals resembling his Spider suit in some way: one he obviously knew it was his clone “brother” Kaine, another was the new Venom that helped him take down Carnage when he tried to take over a small town, the third was a Spider-Man from the future he teamed up a few times, but the last one was a black and red Spider-Man with black eyes, claws, and four mechanical limbs coming out of his back. Then the recent memories started flooding back; full of pain, suffering, and betrayal.
“This cannot be!” Octavius thought to himself as he was trying to absorb what has happened. He was so close to maintain his control over Peter’s body, but somehow he failed and he now fears for his life, again. “But the other heroes are still

It was, in fact, a celebration that would carry on until the Feast of Fools. Two weeks of festivities, followed by perhaps a month of city-wide recovery. Personally, Clopin thought it was, in a word, divine.
There were problems, mind you.
