I decided to try the contest, too...with SHAZAM!!!
Captain Marvel first appeared in "WHIZ COMICS" #2 (1940) published by Fawcett, but due to some legal stuff, his publication stopped in 1953. Later on in 1972, he found a welcome home at DC Comics becoming one of the most popular characters in the DC universe. I drew the "NEW 52" version where he first made an appearance in a back story in "Justice League #7". No longer 'Captain Marvel', he is now only known as "SHAZAM"!
WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE: INVASION, Beast Boy Transformations. Pencil, Digital color.
Mr. Phil Bourassa guest-stars in this illustration, since I'm borrowing his design of Beast Boy for character reference (Hi, Phil!). Among my assignments is to render some of the animal versions of young Garfield Logan (along with my pal Dusty Abell). As established in DC Comics, each animal form retains Beast Boy's verdant hues (for purposes of identification). However, for the show, it was decided to also retain his uniform collar as a means of explaining that his clothes instantaneously expand from, or contract into this shape to accommodate his beast and humanoid forms.
Pictured here is Beast Boy as an African elephant, a peregrine falcon, and a callithrix, or green monkey. Thanks for viewing!
*Beast Boy is the property of DC Comics, and WB Animation.
