Over dusty shoulders I see
a world I'll never win, and I should be anywhere..
Anywhere but here..
Dirty chalk clouds slur through a city sky
until they drop off the stale earth,
and this is my story, and I shall follow them,
and I shall fall. Harsh and ugly.
We lived life like we were the only ones not broken.
Your heart was the fist matching my bruises,
we were misplaced children, collapsed from our worlds
We tugged our skin on the trees we climbed, trying to kidnap stars,
you tripped me up once or twice
and I stared at you
while you let your fingers
Too Many Drinks - Part IToo Many Drinks - Part I3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
A blurred and painful awakening disrupted Chuck’s dormancy as his eyes slowly focused on his digital alarm clock.
The blinking colon between the hour and the minute counters violently drummed the seconds of his alcohol induced torment. Chuck’s head bellowed upon waves of whiskey infused headache. How had he managed to drink so much?
More importantly, what happened last night? The evening was a muddled conjecture of missed connections and happy accidents. The late hours of a night’s outing at his local pub usually lead to a booze-infused discussion of politics, religion, and sex, soon obliterated by a cleansing alcohol-fueled memory wipe.
Something prolific, a profound moment, had managed to escape the mental gravity well of his binge. A monolith, no... a person had managed to survive in his memories until his awakening.
Suddenly, a tide of recollection swept over his mind.
Chuck cringed at the realiza
Best Parent..The best parent is someone you can trustBest Parent..9 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Someone you can open up to
Share your darkest secrets
From simple things
To things more complex
And which they wont think any differently
For you are their child
The best parent is someone you share connections with
Someone you can share experiences with
From your first time driving
Or to even what your first kiss was like
And they are always there with a life lesson
For they have experienced it as well
The best parent is someone who worries about you
Someone that shows they actually care
Towards simple things such as friends
Or more important things, including school
And is always there to support you
In anyway they can...
The best parent is someone who shows love...
Who loves you no matter what...
And is willing to do anything for you
As long as you both are happy...
Are the best parent...
You are everything that I could have ever...
Wanted in a parent...
You mean more than the world to me...
Though we have our times of hard
My AfflictionMy AFFLICTIONMy Affliction13 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
For killing me.
I\'m trapped inside this life,
It\'s all a fallacy.
You were never there,
To understand my sorrow.
I hate your stupid ass,
But I\'ll see you tomorrow.
Beyond the barbed wire,
Mylife has no meaning.
I\'m just another pawn,
A bit of clay for molding.
Like a junkie,
Your words are my addiction.
But know I pay the price,
Death is my affliction.
The ShelfThe Shelf11 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
The dusty volume boomed shut, sending a plume of age into the stale air. "There" the artist remarked to himself, "that one's done".
He picked up the leather bound book and nestled it on the shelf next to many others like it.
He traced his finger along all the the spines of his collection as he read outloud, "Childhood, School, Friends, God,"
his finger came to the newest title on the shelf, "Her."
he sighed, "On the shelf, finally…"
The Artist slid his stool out from the desk as he took a seat,
reaching up he took hold of another blank volume and picked up his pen,
"Perhaps this one will be happier, we shall see, we shall see indeed."
