Saidpur: The Myth, The Facade and The Reality
Saidpur Village situated on the slopes of Margalla Hills in Islamabad is one of the oldest villages of Pakistan. It dates back more than five hundred years.
The work to convert Saidpur into a multicultural and historical tourist attraction was started by Capital Development Authority in 2006 under the supervision of Chairman CDA Mr. Kamran Lashari.
Saidpur was successfully converted into a beautiful quaint village in 2008. The government of France provided technical assistance in this work and total cost was Rs. 400 million.
What the casual observer sees .. driving into the so-called multi-cultural historical tourist attraction to his only destination, which is the village square which houses nothing more than and old temple, a single room of photographs called a museum and a conglomeration of some of the most expens

Inayat and me.............We will be starting a new Group on d/aInayat and me.............2 months ago in Personal More Like This
This Group will encompass ALL Art from:
Photography etc etc.
We have a bunch of brilliant Staff members from the 'hopefully' defunct EarthGaia!
We will need new Staff who can work on all the different Folders...........so please if anyone is interested let me or Inayat know.
Each 'genre' will have a 'Beginners Folder' where new artists can submit their work and get some sort of 'critique.'
I do hope you will all join us in this endeavour?

Hello my Favorite people.Firstly, I am way behind in my thanking....I try to keep up but it is becoming impossible!Hello my Favorite people.2 weeks ago in Personal More Like This
Thank you with all my heart for all your responses and to so much support...........love you all.
In the next 2 weeks I think things are really going to get very busy:
We have to pack up our stuff from this Rental House........move it to somewhere!
Still so much to co-ordinate with moving stuff here and there....furniture, appliances etc.
Still have to get mattresses, sheets, pillows etc etc
We leave Sri Lanka (NO!) on the 7th March for France............the ONLY thing I am looking forward to is seeing our 'fur' babies.
As a lot of you know we have not finished the house here but hopefully be able to co-ordinate with our Builder on Skype.
Then we HAVE to come back on 24th April to really move in and get the place ready to rent out for the Summer.
We have had such a great time here and living in the middle of Galle suburbia has been a highlight despite the noise.........we have learned so much.
Sri LankaA bit about this Country as so many people have been asking:Sri Lanka3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Situated: S. tip off India.
Religions: Buddhist. Hindu. Tamil. Moslem and Christian
The greatest 2 things about this Country are the people (who never stop smiling and trying to be helpful) and the beauty.
The soil is very rich and any amount of plants can be grown.
People put sticks into the ground for fences and they begin to flower!
Driving is somewhat erratic bur once you figure out the 'scheme' of things and the Sri Lankan mind, it is quite fun.
Directions: Something definitely missing here................no understanding of right and left and people NEVER admit they don't know something. This results in extra long journeys BUT it's fun and Martin and I figured out very early on that if one follows a signpost to some shop or something, the signposting runs out and we have to ask someone who will then direct us somewhere else which is not there.............all a mystery.
ONLY serious bad thing is....dogs.
Not looked after
Despite............The lack of FAST Internet, intermittent electrical stoppages, water supply and mosquitoes Oh yes and the Flu............still happy to be here.Despite............2 months ago in Personal More Like This
House Building is NOT going too fast and the MESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs. Brown....very friendly now but cannot get a collar on her!
Bought all sorts of Tropical fruit trees and vines the other day: Papaya. Pineapples. Passion Fruit. Mangoes and Mangosteens. Cashew nut trees and Rambuttans.
Start on the Herbs when the house is finished!!!!!!!
I think I said Happy New Year to everyone if not................Happy New Year.
Inayat and I have not forgotten all our EarthGaia friends and we are talking about the new Group.............hang in.
Lior-Art watch out...........this was a 'despicable' act you perpetrated on us all. However I do hope you will be happy in your own New year.
Thank you everyone who has supported me throughout the Year and I love you all.
For my young watchers I am shortly posting a picture which will have prizes of points for t
Willy Ronis: the light hunterWilly Ronis (1910-2009) is one of France's most remarkable photographers, to whom, along with Doisneau, Cartier-Bresson, and Brassaļ, we owe our romantic vision of France.Willy Ronis: the light hunter5 months ago in Personal More Like This
In Ronis's photos of Paris, the city is inseparable from the working class men, women, and children who inhabit its streets and cafes. He once described his approach to photography in five words: "patience, thinking, chance, form, and time."
Working with available light, Ronis sought to capture the fleeting moments of everyday life, and his body of work documents, with timeless beauty and grace, the feel of French life in the 20th century.
JEANIE'S JOURNALWhen chill November's surly blast make fields and forest bare.JEANIE'S JOURNAL4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Yes, I'm afraid it is so. One of my least favorite months of the year even though my birthday is in November. It is one of those in-between months like March. At least it has Thanksgiving going for it.
More features for some lovely DA artists.
Art thief - list with traced deviations by dateFirst off I want to let you all know that even if dealt kindly, told kindly to credit bases or to mention the references of her drawings, :iconlilnekokatz: will not do it. She will block you and hide your comment and we will not resolve anything. So at this point it is easier just to report and not even deal with her.Art thief - list with traced deviations by date2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Silent reporting should help us. Here is the list sorted newer to old of her (found) traced drawings:
How to troll a Mary-Sue's white-knight!Hey guys, how's it going? I made an awesome copypasta for you in case you run into an insane fan defending an obvious self-insert OC and rabidly attacking someone who tries to legitimately critique the way a character was designed! How to troll a Mary-Sue's white-knight!7 months ago in Personal More Like This
(Now works with *all fandoms*)
I personally think you brought this argument upon yourself. Oh, and beware, what you post on the internet will most likely haunt you for many generations to come. It's best to not get involved with stuff you aren't familiar with, to avoid future embarrassment.
Now, there is a difference between shipping yourself with a fictional character for real enjoyment, and shipping for "the lulz." Believe me, I ship random people all the time together in the [name] fandom, but only for my watchers' enjoyment, not mine. The point is: "If you ship crack pairings seriously, you're going to go down hill from there."
To be completely honest, I do not appr

Site Update: Literature Thumbs, Sta.sh SubmitIn our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update.Site Update: Literature Thumbs, Sta.sh Submit1 year ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
Change to Literature Preview Images
Preview images for literature deviations are now placed within a scrolling literature thumb. In the past, any preview image a deviant set would take the place of the scrolling literature thumb, making it difficult to distinguish visual art thumbnails and literature thumbnails.
This change allows for a more uniform thumbnail appearance around the site while also ensuring that each artist is still able to comfortably represent their work.
Hope everyone's having fun???A few words to say:Hope everyone's having fun???4 months ago in Personal More Like This
1. I am a bit behind on my 'thanks' and 'fav'ings' I am sorry about this. I have uploaded a LOT of pics lately.
2. Thank you so much to all my new watchers. I do appreciate your kindness.
3. PLEASE ......if I Fav. anyone's work, it is not necessary to Fav. one of mine in return. Only Fav. IF you like my art.
4. Points: I donate a fair amount on here because I can. BUT I do NOT accept Fav's for points OR I don't particularly like being asked unless it is of real importance.
5. I am always well aware of my 'watchers' and their hopes or difficulties, please trust me.
For the present: I have been having a LOT of fun on d/a and posting some weird things I saw in the US...........just fun!
Love, hugs to you all.

Wisconsin and Los Angeles
Glad to be back in Europe.
Away from Shopping, strip Malls, cars and horrid traffic.
For those of you who don't know:
I lived in the US for 20yrs and have now lived in France for 12yrs.....before that England and Sri Lanka.
This time it was difficult for me to 'take' the US.
The Country is beautiful and I would be happy to 'roam around' more than I already have done. However, my feelings about 'life' there are somewhat grim.
I see so much greed, shops and shops and shops, with people spending, spending non-stop, money they do not have.
Trying to talk about the Political problems (mostly in Wisconsin) was disheartening to say the least, no-one seemed to care or understand the problems that are facing them.
Back in LA........just 'horrified' by the traffic problems.
When I lived there you could get places, now it takes

I am Reporting this 'incident' to d/a MOSTLY because it can happen again and again and again.
Any Group with 'multiple' Co-Founders (the Founder is never there) stands the same thing happening.
I urge anyone who is STILL a member of EarthGaia to depart.
Inayat and me intend to start a new Group, similar to EarthGaia with the ORIGINAL staff.
I will keep you posted.
IF you wish to know the reason I say this...........read my Journals.
I have been on d/a for a long time and yes! this has happened once before BUT it is NOT the 'norm.'
I am leaving tomorrow morning at 5am.........so will 'hopefully' catch up with you all, sooner than later.
SO many warm hugs to EVERYONE

His wife Fariah and Martin.
I do NOT expect any Fav's because we are just having SO much fun.
Inayat and Fariah arrived late at night and were 'picked up' by their driver to take them to Kandy (The last Old Capital City of Ceylan."
Since then it has rained and rained and rained! Monsoon arrived.
Martin and me were expecting them to arrive in Galle at 3pm..................BUT they did NOT have my 'intrepid' husband as their driver!!!!!!!
We had booked Dinner at 7:30pm..........I turn up and they have only just arrived!
Since then we have had 'massive' rains which we now 'blame' on Inayat and Faria!

Look, I know you are struggling and I understand that moving on and stepping forward has been so hard for such a long time. I understand how difficult it can be to trust that not everything stays horrible and bad; that there's somehow a light out there amid the darkness. Trust me, believe me, I know.
For the most part you'll read this and be skeptical. How could anyone know what it's like but you? Surely this is just another one of those posters on the bus stop, another one of those cheap 'hang in there' slogans brought on to help stave off an ever growing population of graves, more and more of which hold occupants of their youth rather than of the ages.
But this is not that kind of message.
I've been there. I've seen what happens to people wh

Beginners FolderIntroducing Our New Folder : "Beginners"Beginners Folder5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Often, new members or artists wishing to be members, express their hesitancy in submitting a series of images, or even submitting a series, as it can sometimes be a difficult thing.
So we have decided to introduce a new folder, called "Beginners"
What is different about this folder, to be honest its just a couple of small changes.
(a) For the "Beginners" folder, we have reduced the minimum number of entries to "3". So in the beginners folder a series can comprise of 3-6 images unlike the rest which still have a minimum of of 4 and a max of 6.
But for the more advanced members, please don't use this as an excuse to submit just three images when you are short of just one image
(b) Since this folder is meant for beginners, The admins of the group will also try to provide some subtle critique on the series, especially as to how these images fit into a series .. what could be don
