(Rokudai) - Coral Kesuk Concept (HinoKit) by Destiny-Smasher(Rokudai) - Coral Kesuk Reference Set by Destiny-SmasherRe:SRU - Coral Kesuk Concept by Destiny-Smasher

Concept sketches I commissioned from hino-kit to depict expressions of Coral Kesuk for the redesign of 'What I Learned at SRU' into an original series, currently titled 'What We Learned at Rokudai.' (Uploaded with artist's permission) She is directly inspired by Korra from Avatar: The Legend of Korra. She has shark-themed tribal tattoos on her right bicep in a band as well as a larger one on her back.
Tumblr Reblog of this piece: saint-roku-university.tumblr.c…

Coral Kesuk is a young adult (27-28), a Canadian of Inuit/Native-American (and perhaps some African) ethnicity. She is Katrina and Siku's older cousin, and their only cousin. After witnessing her aunt's death at the age of 18, Coral made a personal vow to become strong enough to fight back against criminals like the ones who hurt her family. She attended police academy at her Uncle's advice, but flunked due to her immaturity and rash behavior, unfit for the force.

Ashamed and down on herself, she quickly took bartending school and became a bartender as soon as she was legally able. Years of life as a bartender passed until she sought a change of pace in the town her cousins attend college, down in the US. She packs away her old life and seeks to start a new one.

She is a kid at heart, possessing an intimidating figure -- the body of a woman, but the maturity of a child. She's physically strong, loyal to a fault, and possesses an intense determination and passion to protect people around her, especially those who are not strong enough to defend themselves. However, she suffers from mental/emotional immaturity, and has a habit of taking out her insecurities by puffing up her chest and doing foolish, violent things to make herself feel 'strong.'

When she ends up having little choice in the way of making money but to become a local babysitter for a trio of tweens, Coral's understanding of what 'serving and protecting' really means and why it's worth fighting for gradually becomes clear.

So yeah zutara was like the first pairing I ever fell in love with. I remember watching all of the lovely art from zutara week and wishing I had time to participate
Well I still don't have time, so have a crappy ten minute sketch!

Very young zuko/katara. Tickle fight? I dont' know. Zuko must defend himself while at the same time resist the urge to slam K with a fire punch.

Toph and Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender for :iconmileselectric:

This is the first time I used the scenic gravel stuff. It's pretty cool and the glue for it makes it all really stick well. :D

They came out really well! I think they're probably some of my best work yet! :meow:

Check out their work in progress photos!

(Rokudai) - Jane Fitzpatrick Concept (HinoKit) by Destiny-Smasher(Rokudai) - Jane Fitzpatrick Reference Set by Destiny-Smasher
Concept sketches I commissioned from hino-kit to depict Jane Fitzpatrick for the redesign of 'What I Learned at SRU' into an original series, currently titled 'What We Learned at Rokudai.' (Uploaded with artist's permission) She is loosely inspired by Smellerbee from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Tumblr reblog of this piece: saint-roku-university.tumblr.c…

Jane 'Killerbee' Fitzpatrick is of Irish heritage and American nationality. She is a pansexual that was born intersex, but her father insisted that her physiological gender be decided by their child rather than the parents/doctor. They named their baby Jamie. As a child, Jamie was always a shy and somewhat grouchy child. Her mother divorced her father and left their family when she was still young, uninterested in dealing with the complex nature of her child. Her father often struggled with health complications, often leaving her in the care of her uncle and two male cousins -- none of whom really knew what to do with her. Her father was a lawyer, however, and despite his medical expenses, had managed to save up enough money to allow his child to have surgery performed during puberty -- Jamie chose to identify as a female, and changed her name to Jane. By the time she entered college, her father's health had deteriorated greatly, and his savings had been basically eaten up. Due to a complicated set of circumstances, by the age of 20, Jane had been no stranger to violence and gang activity, having found a local gang in her college town to roll with. She is big into biology, born from her father teaching her how to hunt and her mother teaching her to raise farm animals (back when they were a full nuclear family). In particular, she grows fascinated by entymology, the study of insects, and finds bees to be her favorite creature.

It is Katrina Kesuk and her group of friends that end up pulling the estranged, morally lost Jane out of a life of crime, and through their support, she becomes more and more comfortable with her feminine side, gradually choosing to express it in her appearance more and more, despite her body's irregular nature. Jane is often quiet, shy, and socially disinterested -- even hostile in reaction to feeling attacked or criticized. But her internal anger burns like coals, and that fire can also be used for good when her friends need her. She isn't as quick to speak, but is very upfront and honest when she does.

(Rokudai) - Jun Tu Fong Concept (HinoKit) by Destiny-SmasherRe:SRU - Jun Tu Fong Concept by Destiny-Smasher(Rokudai) - Juniper Tu Fong Reference Set by Destiny-Smasher

Concept sketches I commissioned from hino-kit to depict expressions of Juniper Tu Fong for the redesign of 'What I Learned at SRU' into an original series, currently titled 'What We Learned at Rokudai.' (Uploaded with artist's permission) She is directly inspired by Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Tumblr Reblog of this piece: saint-roku-university.tumblr.c…

Jun is a Chinese gal, a sophomore music major who was born blind. Raised in a rich, traditionalist family by over-protective parents, she developed a bit of a rebellious streak toward the end of high school, and now that she's in college (a college her parents didn't want her attending, no less) she often embraces her independence despite her lack of sight. She can be fairly arrogant and cocky, and often hormonal and inconsiderate of those around her. However, she can also be very steady and stubborn, sticking up for what she believes in. She is at once comfortable and confident in who she is, but can lack faith in those around her and worries that she is not being perceived as she means to be. In other words, she feels quite happy with who she is as a person for the most part, but feels like the world and the people around don't accept her or appreciate her for who she really, which results in lashing out or shelling up and avoiding. She can have trouble expressing herself in traditional means, and relies on her natural talent with music to express her real feelings and thoughts.

If you've followed SRU, you may notice that her revised build is a bit thicker and curvier than she is often portrayed. This is intentional, and I'd like to stick with this direction going forward. She lives a sedentary life style, she is obsessed with potatoes and french fries, and in general I always imaged her as being more curvy than Toph traditionally is. Her revised design is perhaps most far removed from her original SRU interpretation (though Jane did evolve a lot over the course of time and is very different from Smellerbee).

Katrina is a college student studying English with the interest of becoming a teacher. She is of Canadian nationality and Inuit/Native American descent. Her favorite hobbies include reading, watching TV/movies with friends, and eating snacks while watching YouTube videos of varying degrees of intelligence (she likes to watch stuff like PBSIdeaChannel when she's in a good mood, and stuff like silly animal videos when she's upset). Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series, The Moorchild, and Walk Two Moons. She is the 'Big Sister' of the group, always looking out for those around her. She can be very thoughtful and observant, compassionate and sympathetic, and loyal to a fault; but she also struggles with bouts of depression, anxiety, and can be over-bearing, controlling, or judgmental. At the end of the day, she is often the 'Glue' that holds the group together.
