Invaluable advice for improving your portrait photography, check out the roundup above for all of the articles!
I like to believe that improving our stock photography is a goal we all share, and it doesn't matter if you take model shots, landscape shots, building shots or object shots, and everything between. There are giant swathes of tutorials, guides and help if you ask for it for improving all aspects of your stock photography - there is no excuse for not taking pride in your work and doing the best you can to improve, or for not knowing how to make the best use of your camera, surroundings and lighting

Calling all Legit 5th Capsule Fans!First, I want to say thank you for reading 5th Capsule. Seeing new people watch the series by faving the pages is a big delight for me.Calling all Legit 5th Capsule Fans!9 months ago in Personal More Like This
I did all of this on my own money, UDON didn't pay one cent for it. I've given you 3 comic books worth of content for free. I want to continue as I have much more story to tell, but I have reached the end of my funds.
The question is:
Is my work worth one dollar a page to you?
Like I said no one else is supporting this except you guys. So I'm shifting this project to Patreon.
If I've entertained you with something different than many things out there like I promised, and you see the quality inproving page by page, will, those of you who can, help me out? I plan on a maximum of 15 pages a month and if I can count on you guys I will give you these following perks below!:

When I first sold LMS to Paramount, a lot of people asked me: "How much money did you get?" "You're probably rich now, right?"
I mean, the solid gold mansion I bought was just a little gift to myself...but...
Ever since I was little, I've known I wanted to draw. From the day my parents put a pencil in my hand, this was my future. I just knew it, I had that gut feeling. So I stuck to it, and thankfully it took me to heights I'd have never imagined possible. Now with my new book Redemption heading off to studios soon for a hopeful movie package, I can't wait to see where this new road takes me.
That said, there's something else that tops all of this.
The other night I went out to visit my girlfriend's cousin and her family. Incredibly kind people with very sweet kids. Other than the two parents, there were 3 kids, but the one who caught my interest was the eight-year old boy, Diego.
Diego, shy, tiny, slender, reminded me of myself when I was his a
A Vulgar Motive(reposted from my blog)A Vulgar Motive2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Saw someone posting about how they've lost their motivation to draw.
The best motivation to draw is because you love drawing, but, as we age, outside opinions and internal anxieties start to present themselves. You may start worrying you don't draw as well as those people. Thinking 'I don't know if I can make a living drawing' or 'I have to get better.' These things can really mess any artist up, especially when your young and not getting the satisfaction from drawing you used to.
There's a reason for this and it's pretty simple; you used to feel better about drawing when you were a child because drawing was its own reward. As you drew more you probably got positive feedback from family and friends and that became important, reducing the importance of the inherent reward of drawing. You became 'that kid who could draw real good'. I was a part of your identity when you were starting to form who you thought you would be.

Here is a bellydance video of me from a while ago, dancing to Shiva In Exile. This video was shot by another videographer (and edited by me), outdoors, unlike all my other videos which are recoded by myself in my studio.
As always, I hope that you enjoy this one!

Although I would love it if you watched the video, it shows no where near as much work as was put into this shoot. Some of this is embarrassing but I love reading about people's mistakes and how they overcame them. So here are mine.
I bought the costume last November, thinking I would be able to shoot the next week, edit easy peasy and be done in a month. Right.
I booked the first model several times over the course of 3 months but she flaked every time. I'm actually quite happy, as Laura turned out to be PERFECT, easy going, and an overall better model. Laura was kind enough to shoot with me twice, as I was hesitant about the poses I picked out. We kept some, threw out others and added new ones for the second time around.
For the WWI shot, I first tried to make the Notre Dame ruins by hand or find realistic models used for game tables. Turns out no one buys them anymore and thus I had no luck finding one. I att

Can you please tell me what this website is called again? What? It's not "highART", or "fineART". Really?? It is called deviantART? Well then,..I must be in the wrong place, you see, I have been arguing all along that this was fine art, I had no idea that this is where you would find deviant art. Maybe I was just a little confused because I thought "deviant" meant complying with the norm, socially and sexually. What? It means the opposite? So let me get this straight,...deviantArt literally means:
Art that departs from usual or accepted standards, esp. in social or sexual behavior.
Well thank you for helping me get straightened out,..I will close my account immediately and post all of these pictures on Facebook.

WARNING! Logan Props/Snikt Shop/I am your heroes!WARNING: Do NOT buy any props from this guy.WARNING! Logan Props/Snikt Shop/I am your heroes!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Alright, so let me tell you all something here.
David Winant, AKA Jim Logan/Iam Logan/I am your heroes/Outlaw Produx Snikt shop [he keeps changing his name so people will think this is not associated with him, his most current shop is labeled "Logan Props"] is one of the most unprofessional persons I know. He is using your money you send to him for personal expenses and not meeting deadlines/keeping your money without giving you the prop you paid for, and refusing to communicate. He is also ripping you all off and making shitty props that look great when he takes pictures on his low quality webcam, then look like crap when you get them in the mail. Let me tell you what he did for me.
Last year in June 2011, John Castillo paid him $150 to make my weapons for Lady Ezio. Wizard World was in August, and I did not get them in time. Logan told me he would make them for me for C2E2 2012. When John asked him in October why I didn't ha

Galadriel (LOTR / Mirror dress)
My classic Batgirl suit and my Mera suit are finished so far. (except for a few little changes on Mera's sleeves). Don't worry, the yellow pouch will be exchanged with a red one (The yellow one is for my black suit). I just wanted to see how it looks complete. For Batgirl the only thing I have to do now is the cape. I am really looking forward to wear the whole costume!
I also finished Dove's base suit. I'll work on the accessoires in the following days and hope to finish it quickly. <3 I love Babs, Dawn and Mera sooooo much! I'm so inspired and motivated at the moment. Great start into 2013!

Cherry Blossom Festival and Sakura Con!Hey guys! It's con season again and I'll be at the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco's Japantown this weekend (April 12-13th), and at Sakura Con in Seattle Washington the weekend after (April 18-20th). As usual, I'll be there with all of my prints, books, buttons, and cards!Cherry Blossom Festival and Sakura Con!11 months ago in Personal More Like This
My table location for the Cherry Blossom Festival is on the lower floor of the Japan Center, right outside the Kinokuniya book store entrance. For Sakura Con, I'll be in the Artist Alley at table 411. I was actually unable to get a table in time for this con, but a kind artist, mind-crash offered to share his with me We both look forward to meeting everyone and making new friends so come by and say hi!
Five Tips to Starting FreelancingSo, you're tired of being unemployed. You've been stuck at home for the umpteenth month in a row, a new season of The Legend of Korra is still a year off, and your government support checks (should you be lucky to still be getting them) won't even come close to affording you a bus ticket to Everfree Northwest. Your evaluation of life is the same dissertation of tedium and monotony as Helen Keller's review of Chinese Democracy.Five Tips to Starting Freelancing3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
You know, pretty much on par with every other review of Chinese Democracy.
But know what? If you can't find a job, you'll make a job! Screw finding work, and screw the employers who keep dismissing your applications for being "over qualified" like that Bachelors of Science in Graphic Design is as detrimental to your character as being a registered felon. Screw them and that stupid help wanted sign at Quiznos. Now you're freelancing, baby.
