Lara Croft is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Square Enix (previously Eidos Interactive) video game series Tomb Raider. She is presented as a beautiful, intelligent, and athletic English archaeologist-adventuress who ventures into ancient, hazardous tombs and ruins around the world.
The character first appeared in the 1996 video game Tomb Raider. She has also appeared in video game sequels, printed adaptations, a series of animated short films, feature films (portrayed by Angelina Jolie), and merchandise related to the series.
Inspired by pop artist Neneh Cherry and comic book character Tank Girl, Toby Gard of Core Design designed Lara Croft to counter stereotypical female characters.
Critics consider Lara Croft a significant game character in popular culture. She holds six Guinness
Starting over. I'm sorry.Hello... It's been forever, hasn't it? Well...Like my tagline says, new year, new me. I've decided to start over. No, not make a new account, but restart this one. You may be asking, "Mint-Chan, where have you been all this time?". Well, I've been thinking these past few months. About this account, and more importantly, my art.Starting over. I'm sorry.5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Let me tell you straight up. I traced my works. Yes. Traced. If you hadn't noticed already, my drawings were scarily accurate to the 'real thing'. Well, you probably figured out why. Tracing. Yep.
But why did I trace my works?
Why did I trace for so long?
Why didn't I admit it sooner?
Why did I lie?
When I first made this account, I submitted a few deviations, the first one being "Chibi Waitress". I was really into drawing chibis then (mostly for the fact they were easy to draw). I remember my first week or so on deviantART, anxiously waiting for one notificati
FAQ: FFXIII-2 Starseeker weaponEdit: Many of you asked for a transformation vid. So, I made this video clip. Enjoy!FAQ: FFXIII-2 Starseeker weapon3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In my former journal I asked if you would like for me to explain how my Starseeker weapon was made. Since there were quite some people that would like me to do so, I decided to make this FAQ journal. So, I hope I'l answer some questions you might have about this curious weapon and I hope I can explain it well enough for you all to understand.
Note that I made the weapon a couple of months ago and I don't remember everything very clear of the making of it. But, I'll do my best.
So, first things first: The Starseeker
Serah's weapon is quite the interesting one. This because it's a transformable one just like her sister's, Lightning. Nonetheless, it's a transformable one from bow to blade, which original form is none other than the cute moogle companion, Mog.
Of course, Final Fantasy is all about 'Fantasy', so making an exact workin

Are there places were street photography is impossible? Are there countries easier than others, or harder than others? How is it street shooting like in exotic places, or places you never visited, places that are completely different from what you are used to? I asked a few street photographers around the world to share with us their experiences.

Japan is a fascinating country with an unusual mix of the traditional and modern. It's a magical place filled with anime, cosplayers, samurai, sushi, and all the strangest things imaginable. Wrong! Well, not really, but this is just the cliché, outer covering. When newcomers just scratch the surface of this country, this cliché is all they find. But, in reality, Japan is a place like any other: full of human beings who have normal lives with all their little dr

I've been making comics since I was 8 years old (drawing since before I can even remember.)
Recent years I've been getting my art noticed throughout the town I live in, and as of late I've been illustrating a children's book which will be in the process of publication in a few days as well as designing logos and things for companies in town.
I've been known to do comic strips of the heavy metal (imaginary, that is) band Splyt Stryng in the past, and of "Dub" which was based off of my real life experiences.
In addition, I've started the processes to accomplishing a dream I've had for years and years: action style comic books. Particularly, super heroes.
So in early stages I have scripts and things written out for my series Aardvark, and I've adopted a writer (ValiantIronSide) for our very own Backbone and Firebird.
I hope whoever decides to follow my work w
Is America The Greatest Country? Is America The Greatest Country?3 years ago in Personal More Like This

I know this is the Fourth Of July. I know I should write about how great America is and how we're Number One and how every other country sucks in comparison. I know I should be like every other patriotic right-wing blogger and post a music video of Lee Greenwood's Proud To Be An American or Martina McBride's Independence Day.
But I won't do that. Instead, I want to share something more thought-provoking.
The following is from the opening scene of the first episode of HBO's The Newsroom. During a political debate, news anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniel) is asked what makes America the greatest country in the world. He replies by saying that it's not, and follows up with this spee
Text Brush in deviantART muroWe just launched a new tool to Beta Testers that allows you to paint words onto your canvas in deviantART muro!Text Brush in deviantART muro3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
The text brush lets you create visual art using words. You can change the text and font from the bottom bar, and you can also set whether or not the text repeats itself continuously. When you click the font button, you'll be prompted with a modal that contains an extensive list of fonts to choose from! The sample text will update based on the font you select, so you can get a sense of what you'll be painting before you paint it.
As an example of the great things you can create with this tool, you can check out mudimba's I Have A Dream, or watch a redraw of mudimba at work creating art!
Try it out!

Notes on Character Design
I received the question pictured below at my tumblr blog. In case it's useful to anyone here, I decided to go ahead and use this otherwise dormant journal to share the article I put together in response.
Character design and drawing are tome-sized topics and even if I had all the answers (I don't - I have a lot to learn), I'm not sure I could communicate them effectively. Here are some thoughts an ideas that might help, though.
First, some general things...
Let some of that anxiety go. This isn't a hard science. There's no wrong way,
Back to reality......And back to college this monday, last semester was too damn boring and I didn't learn a lot as I thought, but the good part is that I'll be taking advertising photography this semester and I'm excited about that (;Back to reality...2 years ago in Personal More Like This

DIY Photography Studio Tools A few people have been asking for Studio Lighting tips - whilst there are many articles online that talk about DIY lighting for smaller projects like products and food photography, there isn't much to help promote DIY studio sized lighting. Lighting set ups for portraiture can often be very costly and whilst there is no immediate do-it-yourself solution there are some low-cost ideas out there. Most of the equipment that you need for developing your Photography hobby into something more can be sourced online or in local shops. You don't have to shop at 'studio lighting' or 'backdrop shop' for the proper gear. These simple tips will hopefully help you identify things a lot closer to home and a lot cheaper.DIY Photography Studio Tools 4 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Lights around your Home.
Creating your own studio lighting is possible on a budget. For example, those mini 'pixar' lights that we often use for smaller set ups also come in big! A regular angle-poise lamp with a black backdrop can create just the effec

When we launched the One Cat, One Fruit, One Clock Contest, we asked you to create artwork using three seemingly random things; a cat, a fruit, and a clock. We're excited that so many artists participated and we were really impressed by the creative ideas that were submitted.
The judges narrowed down those entries to 25 semi-finalists, and now the world-wide Chairman of Fotolia Inc., Oleg Tscheltzoff, has selected the final three winners.
Congratulations to the winners and thank you all for participating! And don't forget to watch #StockProject —there might be a new contest someday just saying.

Comics Are ArtComic-Con Journey to the Heart of The New Summer VacationComics Are Art3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Americans have a long summer vacation tradition of visiting the foreign capitals of the world and being sure to spend at least one day in each nation’s most iconic art museum. In Paris, we visit the Louvre. In Madrid, the Prado. In Rome, the Borghese. We feel far more comfortable in identifying the different peoples of our planet through examples of their greatest art works than we do about identifying ourselves as being represented by any one iconic “American” art museum or artist. Maybe the country is just too big for one musuem and so it has always fallen to our pop arts to carry the true visual narrative of what’s going on in the hearts and minds of the masses.
Comic-Con has become the new arts and culture go-to in domestic summer vacation destin
