Chapter Ⅰ - All that jazz
I awoke from my slumber, gasping for breath. I have been continually having vivid dreams. I rose from my bed and went to the restroom. These visions have been haunting me for months now. The light of the bulb burned my retinas for a moment, and I turned to the mirror. My choppy blonde bangs stuck to my forehead and my eyes were a sickly green. The darks circles made me look like a panda more than a healthy man. The thought about my dream, they all have been the same thing. A man that looked like me; but he was in the past. He was everything I was against, I was a man of the law and he was a slave to his own greed. I would never dare to steal and kill as he did. But why… why did it feel like I wanted it? The adrenaline was mine, the sword in my hand. I observed my hand closely; my fingertips still feel the sensation of the metal. I’ve been feelin

The Spirit of Autumn ,
Hair, so red,
Skin, so fair.
Her curly locks,
Gathered beside her like serpents.
The beauty of her stops my breath.
Like the air on cool mornings.
The leaves turn at her touch.
There she was ,
Lying on the earth.
Tired from her days work.
Resting from labors.
I should have left her
I should have run,
But I approached;
heart beating in my ears.
She felt me long before I reached her.
Erupting into a flock of birds thru the canopy.
But it was she,
I swear it’s so,
my eyes burn with her memory.
I Have seen her,
The Spirit of Autumn.

“My father sees her as a possible ally or even puppet of Loki. Did she not stall us when the room was collapsing in?”
“No she’s just an idiot sometimes and gets carried away with being humorous. She could never harm another being, not my little Lexi.”
“It doesn’t matter. Odin has ordered this and it shall be so until he doesn’t see her as a threat.”
“The girl can’t even butter her own toast yet she is being charged for conspiracy and attempted murder. Unbelievable.”
I didn’t have to guess who spoke last, as Darcy was the only one in our group who shared my love for witty sarcasm.
And for the record, I SO can butter my own toast.
I opened my eyes and was blinded for a second of the brightness. My limbs ached with a pain I have never felt.
“Am I dead?”
Only silence answered me and I managed to sit up and look at my surroundings.

Your first thought goes something along the lines of, 'What is this feeling?' Your second, 'What is this icy vise that's gripping my heart?'
His breath came short. His hands trembled, one stained red where it clutched his side. Bile rose in the back of his throat. His eyes darted about, frantically seeking that which they could not find. Dodging around behind a pillar, he tried to quiet his breathing in order to hear better, but the frantic thundering of his heartbeat drowned out all else.
Your third thought is of whether or not you can escape the thing or things that have caused this feeling, this unfamiliar sensation to creep about your mind, and then worm its way into the very center of your thoughts, your being, chokin

It was a nice day in Monteriggioni, Italy as you jumped from place to place on the roofs; you weren't sure what to do today really, all you ever do is assassinate certain people and blend in with crowds. You are anonymous. Well, you were until one day you spotted a man in white and red. You couldn't really make out his face, but he was fighting some guards along an ally. Idiots. If you were them who saw the man in white assassinate the person next to you, you would've said, "Forget this, I'm out."
You crouched on a wooden plank and watched the man slice a guards throat and pounce on the other. It's like something you would do if you-
"Get off that building or die!" A guard said bringing out his sword, running towards you. You pulled out your blade and quickly slashed his throat without saying a word. You turned to the direction the man was and saw him staring at you.
'Oh shit!' You thought as you ran the opposite direction from him.

An archer hit the dusty ground below the rooftop, blood splashing onto the dust and the robes of nearby citizens from the stab wound in his back. A white-robed man leapt overhead, ignoring the screams from the people below as they scrambled away from the body, the area emptying temporarily. He sprinted away from the grotesque scene, landing on the next rooftop and making sure that the blood-red feather was still tucked safely away in his large, brown belt. The figure slowed as a wooden, cross-beamed roof came into view. He checked that no prying eyes were watching before dropping down a square opening onto the ledge below.
Master Assassin Altair Ibn La-Ahad paused for a moment to let his honey-gold colored eyes adjust to the darkness. Night had long ago fallen over the great city of Jerusalem, the stars barely lighting the desert landscape. The Assassin's Bureau was empty, save for a novice sleeping, curled, on the pillows that lined a corner of the small room. Sliding off the e

Malik yanked the wooden figure out of Kadar's tiny hands, causing the latter to fall down backwards onto his butt and start crying. Malik turned away and crossed his arms over his chest, satisfied, until their mother came into the room, carrying a basket of now clean clothes in her arms. She frowned, taking in the scene, placing the basket delicately on the floor.
"What happened?" she demanded.
"Brubba took the doggie from me!" Kadar wailed.
"Dog?" she asked sharply.
Malik reluctantly held out the little wooden dog statue that she had gotten him for his fifth birthday. "It's mine, and Kadar stole it." he said defensively.
"Malik, Kadar's only three." she said, taking it gently from his hands, "He doesn't know any better. Why don't you just let him play with it? Besides, your his older brother, and you're supposed to protect Kadar, not be mean to him."

There's no such thing as the bogeyman.
There is no such thing as an embodiment of terror. No such thing as monsters under the bed. No such thing as terrible beings hiding in the shadows, coming to get you when you least expect it.
Even now, when the full moon lights up an otherwise pitch black sky, there is nothing to be afraid of. Especially when surrounding by thick, solid walls, in the safety of one's bed, this applies. Especially when there are several others lining the wall, each filled with a contently sleeping body, always reassuring you that you are not alone.
The little girl at the St. Catherine's convent tries her very best to remember that. She has to. It's the only way she will ever be able to sleep. The only thing that will make her feel somewhat safe in this large, echoing hall.
She has been at the convent for a while now. Half a year at the very least. Frankly, it's not so bad to live here. The nuns are kind and she is well-fed. Every day, after her chor

CHAPTER 1 – A New Beginning
Without a second thought I looked out the back window to see if the police officer was there. Of course… The motionless corpse of the once chatty police officer was lying there with blood smeared from his body to the car. As I looked at him all I felt was remorse. I could've stopped this… But I didn't. I had to get to her. I had to get to Clementine. I turned my attention to the cracked window in front of me. I have to stay focussed.
Without any hesitation I put my foot to the glass four times and shattered it. Bits of debris fell into the vehicle whilst, thankfully, the larger shards of glass fell outwards. I shuffled my way to the opening I made and crawled out. I fell onto the ground and, luckily, didn't cut myself. I pushed myself up and walked slowly around the vehicle until I saw the dead cop. I looked down at my hands, I was still cuffed. I sighed, I still need to get the keys. I knew he w

I stared into Clem's eyes as tears flowed down her cheeks. I was filled with sadness that I'd never be able to see her smile again but, within that sadness I felt a glimmer of hope. Hope that she would be able to grow older and live happily with Christa and Omid as her guardians. I just wished that I would've been able to spend more time with her. I wish I could've just been able to just see her off safely.
It was funny to me. I went to such lengths to protect this little girl. I didn't even know her last name, but despite the circumstances she became my daughter. She fulfilled my wish of having a family… Even if my wife was out of the equation, I was still happy to have known the feeling of having a daughter; to pass on knowledge to her, to spend time with her… to cherish her.
I found my voice and said to her with my last breath, "I'll miss you." She stared at me with her large eyes and slowly replied, "Me too…" Clementine stood up holdi

The two Master Assassins sat in an office, one open to anyone at Masyaf, shelves lined with books towering around them against the four walls if the small, rectangular room. Mostly, the two assassins did not use it very often; usually they were too busy to sit down and relax, and when they did have free time, they would spend it practicing fighting or entertaining their young sons.
One of the assassins, a man with messy black hair, charcoal eyes, and a long, hawk-like nose was sitting in one of the chairs with a small stack of books on the table separating him from the other man with his hidden blade sitting next to them, safely out of reach of grabbing hands, although he took no notice of either. Rather, his full attention was on the blue-eyed two-year-old sitting on his lap, who was attempting to shove his entire fist into his mouth.
The other man was lounging lazily in his own chair, the chair tipped back dangerously on its back two legs. The man's muddy, leather boots

"No problem; I can totally do this," you muttered to yourself through muffled fabric. You shifted your weight hesitantly, however nevertheless stepped forward toward the edge of the stone crevice. You felt your heartbeat jolt, and mentally slapped yourself for being so cowardly. Sure, you were great at combat fighting, blackmailing, and slipping and blending through crowds.
Clearly you were not showing much faith in doing the Leap of Faith. Balling up your fists, you glanced nervously at your mentor, for any signs of encouragement. He roughly nodded, though the full assassin next to him rolled his eyes. You could easily read his lips; "Novices."
You grimaced at this, though in the corner of your eyes, your friend gave you a somewhat comforted smirk.

It took me several minutes and a brief looking around to finally admit that I’m inside Edward’s manor. It was so good to lie on a proper bed after months of sailing that I took my time. Silk sheet, soft pillow and warm blanket – these are not kind of things I’m used to. I feel like I was sleeping on a soft cloud. Setting myself a bit higher on the bed I start observing the room I’m in. It isn’t different from the whole house- the same light palette of wallpapers, the same elegant style that reigned everywhere in the manor. One thing I find different – this room looks inhabited. The dresser is piled with shirts and pants at different stages of dirtiness; with holsters and belts hanging over the lacquered surface and stretching down to the floor; with trinkets and several golden coins; some drawers are open – entrails jut out here and there out of them. Escape from this dark, desolate haze.
Will someone not take my place?
If you manage to survive through the maze,
bring me away from these endless days.
My rose is yellow,
jealous yet mellow.
For your blue one is sweeter.
Red too is a pretty colour,
but blue, so much better.
Will you be my friend forever?
Or will you be like all the others?
If I had forgotten to leave someone behind,
it certainly would have led to my demise.
Why would you not let me come with you?
If you had, we could have been happy forever.
You would be my sister,
and we could have eaten a wonderful dinner.
Perhaps, if he had failed, you would all be here with me
having a lovely tea party.
Instead you burned me down with a lighter,
and returned without me.

There was a pause, and then no more movement and that signaled Malik that the man had fallen into the deepest part of sleep. For the next three hours he would not wake unless something touched him, and now Malik had his chance.
