Gabriela is a traditional artist from Portugal. Her beautiful watercolor paintings are surreal in nature and have a romantic feeling to them. She fills the canvas with bright splashes of color that create fantastic blends and effects. She also makes use of dripping paint in her works which not only adds to the aesthetic effect of her work, but also reinforces the dream like world from which she grabs inspiration.
Sara is a professional animator from Ireland. She is predominantly a digital artist and has a unique illustration style that mimics traditional painting. She is very expressive with her brushstrokes and her paintings have a wonderful texture to them. Life and nature are her primary sources of inspiration though s

There is no cosmic law that states artists must suffer many long years and demeaning day-jobs before a window of opportunity cracks open just enough to hop on through.
Fellow deviant Brian Kesinger is a case in point.
His first “day-job” in 1996—he was hired straight out of his senior year of high school—was drawing Tarzan for Disney.
Brian stayed at Disney and he considers every day there a part of his ongoing education as an artist. He most recent

And I'm back for the feature... oh my, I wasn't here for almost 2 weeks Sorry cuz of that, but I have to make ton of stuff for college, so I probably won't be here that much in next upcoming weeks. So I hope you can also wait for my new stuff which I draw (a little slowly...I paused process cuz of school ).
But I also have great news for you. One of my newest drawings which I still draw, I record. So soon you'll be able to see on our YouTube account whole process how I draw my paintings. From sketch till finished piece. But I guess I'll have to post it in few parts (cuz I already draw it more than 14 hours and I just started ).
And here is the feature. I featured some amazing character and environment pieces by great artists all around dA. If you like these works, then fav them... and you can also fav this article and help these artists, so they can get more attention. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this feature

A brief history of FellaWe all know Fella. If you have been a member of deviantArt for at least 1 day it's quite probable you've encountered him at least once, he's everywhere! And this shouldn't come as a surprise, he's dA's mascot after all! But how much do you know about him? Let's take a look at a Brief History of deviantART's mascot.A brief history of Fella3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Fella was brought to life thanks to switched, who designed him back in April 2001 for a mascot contest.
Back then he didn't look exactly as we know him today, his figure was a lot more basic and circular and his expression wasn't as human as we're used to today. However his main features remain, his mischievous look and his colors, most probably based on the site layout's at the time

Neo-Victorian Steam-powered Fantasy: SteampunkWelcome to the land that never was in an era that had never been looking forward to the future that never came.Neo-Victorian Steam-powered Fantasy: Steampunk2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Welcome, to steampunk.
1. What is steampunk?
Steampunk is a retro-active subgenre of science fiction that incorporates elements of historical fiction, adventure, horror, speculative fiction, fantasy and alternative history. It exists as a hybrid genre that focuses on a re-imagining of the Industrial revolution when men and women create analog machines to achieve the fullest of human potential. Usually set in Victorian England during the mid- to late-1800’s or the American “Wild West” era, this genre incorporate the spirit of Jules Verne and H. G. Wells in their setting and general mood as well as the new-found relationship between man and his machine.
Steampunk has since become an aesthetic movement, sparking off subcultures that focus on visual art, comics, music, clothing, accessories and “custom mods” where modern-day m
What To ShootStock & ResourcesWhat To Shoot1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
It’s often easy to figure out what you want to shoot when you have a creative, artistic idea as inspiration - you are bringing to life your vision. However, as much as we would like it to be different, there is not always a market for our artistic visions outside galleries. Stock gives artists a way to distribute their works, though sometimes there is a bit of a limit as to what will be sellable to a wider market.
Creating stock doesn’t mean you have to give up all your creative aesthetic or ideals, but it may mean you have to alter them a bit in order to make them more appealing to potential buyers. At Novel Expression, we had to figure out how to get the most out of our shoots to appeal to the largest number of buyers possible. While it would be much more creative to shoot our models in various locations and fancy them up a bit with Photoshop, leaving the backgrounds clean and shooting with somewhat flat lighting gives our end user a clea

Liam Sharp was and is one of the most sought after comic artists in the business. After bursting on the scene by drawing the bestselling Marvel UK title of all time, Death Head II, he was back in America illustrating top line comics like Superman, Batman and Spiderman as well as special projects for people like Stan Winston. For anyone unfamiliar with his amazing work, his galleries can be found on deviantART. I recently got lost for an entire day perusing a single file of his Conan illustrations.

Comic Con 2015 - Gone but not forgotten...I can't believe Comic Con 2015 is over My body is still recovering. This year I felt was a little light on cosplay but I found some good ones. Of course it was my usual Con - books, books, books - with a little extra fun thrown in, like the impromptu interview I got to do with the voice of Donatello from TMNT and one of the voices from 'Sanjay and Craig':Comic Con 2015 - Gone but not forgotten...5 months ago in Personal More Like This

I also did some other interviews which I'll put some links up to once I get those written. But I really just wanted to show some of the cosplay I did witness:

TECHNIQUES and TOOLSI'm reposting TECHNIQUES because people on Deviant Art aren't able to find my old journals pre 2010. And I get enough notes from people that it's helpful to have it around so I don't have to repeat myself. I use 500lbs rough Bristol board to draw on. Usually I'll buy it in large sheets so I can cut it into smaller pages and save money. If you can't find it then grab some Strathmore 400lbs press paper (brown cover). It's a little more than the yellow stuff but it won't bleed as much. Lately I'm using DC paper which is pretty much the same thing as 500lbs press. I'll draw on the back of it because I HATE THOSE BLUE LINES. Nothing cheapens original art like those fucking blue lines. And all it does is remind me that I'm a comic book artist and not an illustrator.

Acts of Creation Part 2Okay, in case my previous column stirred things up a little by showing that deciding who gets ownership for creating a property isn't easy, even amongst those are doing the actual creating.Acts of Creation Part 25 years ago in Personal More Like This
In my first journal I talked about a recent story that I fictionalized where two creators disagreed on who created a project. This journal isn't so much about who gets copyright as it is about getting credit for what you do. If you fully created something you should get credit, right?
Can of frickin' worms, mate. To me I see the act of creation being two initial levels. The character or concept comes first then the secondary characters and environments follow. This later level can cause the most problems with creators and who gets the proper or appropriate credit.
I mean, let's take Batman for instance. He was created solely by Bob Kane, right?
Met Bob Kane once, never talked to him about those early days, but I do know that he didn't create Batman.
"Huh?" you're thinking, "what a$$hole is th
