~ Chapter 1 - Sunshine ~
"Mother in heaven... I am so sorry for once again disobeying dad... but...mom... if this is it for me... if I can't get out of this hospital alive, then please... please... forgive me and let me see him... one last time..."
I silently pleaded to my mother as I furiously ran past the nurse's head desk, avoiding curious gazes. Tears streamed heavily down my face. Every step and every stride brought pain shooting through my veins... but I don't care. I need to see him...
If this was the last moment of my life...
...My only wish before I go, is to see him.
I bursted through the hospital doors, my pace significantly weakening. My heart was painfully banging against my chest,

"I already told you, Samus. We've been asked to interview possible new fighters for the next installment of Super Smash Bros.," stated a young blond man dressed in green.
"But why do we have to do this, Link? Couldn't they have gotten someone else?"
"Well since we're part of Nintendo's Generation One, the head honchos thought it'd be best if we handled the interviews. Besides, who would you choose? Captain Falcon? He'd scare away all the applicants!"
Samus rolled her eyes at the swordsman and decided to just get this over with. Pulling out the first application, the intergalactic bounty hunter called the first applicant. In walked in a small cat-like creature that was cream in color, black ears, six whiskers; two on each side if its face and two on top of its head, and a gold c

Link and Samus looked up from the papers they were reading to see a red-haired young man entering the room. The man wore a green outfit that made him look like a mercenary.
"And who might you be?" asked Link.
"The name's Joshua. Thought I'd come by and test my luck on trying to get in on this Smash Fighter business," replied the swordmaster with a smirk.
"And what could your reason for joining be?" questioned Samus, crossing her arms.
Joshua's face gained a solemn appearance. "I wish to become better. Truthfully, I am the Prince of Jehanna, but I feel I am not worthy of the crown yet. By entering the next Smash Bros. I can become stronger and once I do, I can take care of my people better when I return."
Link nodded in understanding. "I know what you mean. It can be difficult to protect your people at times."
Samus let out a sigh. "While I wish we could help you, Joshua, I do

"Come in!" called out Link. When the door opened, he smiled when he saw Zelda walk into the room. "Hey, Zelda!"
Zelda smiled back at her hero. "Hello, Link. I figured since you'd be stuck here all day that you probably haven't had lunch yet, so I brought you something to eat!"
Link's eyes lit up when he saw the basket Zelda held up. "Thanks, Zelda! You're the best!"
Samus rolled her eyes at the two lovebirds. "Get a room, you two."
Link glared at the woman next to him, while Zelda's cheeks became red in embarrassment. That was when there was another knock at the door. Without waiting to be called in though, the door opened and in walked a tall woman with bright orange hair. The two Hylians were surprised to see the woman.
"Midna?! What are you doing here?!" questioned Link, very confused.
"Shouldn't you be back in the Twilight Realm acting as the queen?" asked Zelda,

"So you want to get promoted from being an Assist Trophy to a Smash Fighter, Saki?" asked Link.
"Yes, sir. I am not afraid of taking on such a responsibility and I know I can handle anything that comes my way," replied Saki.
"You do realized that it might not happen since you are an Assist Trophy, right?" questioned Samus.
"I thought of that, but I see it like this; Charizard was a Poké Ball Pokémon for the first two games and became a fighter in Brawl, so there is a chance that I or some of the other Assist Trophies can become fighters in the next game."
"That makes sense," said Link, agreeing with that logic.
"Out of curiosity, what do your friends think of this decision?" questioned Samus.
"Let me rephrase, what does Airan think of your decision?" asked Samus, this time

"Well my protégé wants to know if he can be in the next SSB game. Any chance you could interview him?"
Samus let out a sigh. "I guess. Just tell him to keep it short."
Red left the room and then returned with a younger boy. The younger boy had black hair and wore, a red long-sleeved shirt, black shorts, and a yellow and black cap that he wore backwards.
"Yo! The name's Ethan and I want to be in the next SSB game!" exclaimed the boy.
"Uh huh. What do you have to even get as far as you think you will?" questioned Samus.

"Looks like we've got more third-party characters coming in."
"Really? Who?" questioned Link.
Samus grinned as she called in the next applicant. The door opened and in walked two people, both of which surprisingly had spiky hair and bright blue eyes. The taller one was wearing mostly black and his spiky hair was blond. Strapped to his back was a very large sword wrapped in bandages.
The younger one was wearing an outfit that was mostly black with bits of red and yellow and had brown hair. Another thing that set the boy apart from the man was whereas the man looked serious and void of emotion, the boy looked cheerful.
"Hey guys!" greeted the boy.

Link and Samus looked up in confusion. That sounded like Toon Link. They then heard another voice.
"Stop being a baby, Link! I want in this little Smash thingy that you're in and you're going to help me!"
That was when the door slammed open and Toon Link was thrown inside. Link and Samus looked to see who threw the alternate hero in, only to find a young tan-skinned girl who looked to be the same age as Toon Link. She had blonde hair tied in a bun atop of her head and her clothing made her look like a pirate.
"Ow " whined Toon Link as he rubbed the bump on his head.
"I didn't throw you that hard," deadpanned the pirate girl. She then noticed Link and Samus. "Hey, Link? Why's this guy dressed like you?"

Following her was a short man, also with green skin, and wore a red cloak over his body and had think glasses that hid his eyes. He also had a manic grin on his face.

Moe turned to his friend only to find the little star was asleep. Moe could feel his eye twitch.

Super Metroid, the third installment in the Metroid saga, was released in 1994 for SNES. This game sports a lot of new extras that would later become staples in the Metroid franchise. But first I'd like to give a brief summary of the plot seeing as there's a lot to talk about
In short; at the end of the second game we came across this baby Metroid, and Samus had brought it to be cared for and studied by the galactic research station. Well things go a bit awry when Ridley pays a visit and steals the baby Metroid and takes it to planet Zebes, and it's up to us to save Biffalo I mean the baby Metroid. I'll leave it at that because the story element of the baby Metroid does come up later in the game even after we find him/it again, so in case you haven't played the game, I won't be spoiling anything. (And if you HAVE played the game you know what happens, so why bother explaining it)
So we're back on planet Zebes and we have to collect some of the abilities from the original gam

Listen very carefully
I am going to train
You to summon rain
For these notes, few would mourn
A melody lost and forlorn
This is called the Song of Storms
Hurry boy, come outside
Follow me don't question why
Stand here next to me
Tell me what you see
Dark clouds roll, way up high
Bolts of lightning split the sky
Notes that make the heavens cry
In your hands, you now wield
The might to flood towns and fields
Save us from this night
Cleanse us of His blight
He who hails, from the sand
Wash his darkness from our land
You have learned the Song of Storms
Metroid Other M: A RetrospectiveOr, how Other M does not fit into the Metroid canon.Metroid Other M: A Retrospective1 year ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
It’s been almost four years since the release of the last Metroid game, and sadly this latest hiatus was kicked off, at least for me, on a very disappointing note.
I can’t even begin to explain how much of a disappointment this game was for me, but I’d probably attribute that to the ecstatic hype I allowed myself to fall into in the months before its release.
While the gameplay was pretty decent on its own, the linear style was a huge step down from the exploration aspect Metroid fans have come to cherish. I miss the days of Metroid gaming where I had the ever-present question in my mind; “Where the fuck do I go?”
Despite its linear take, Other M is a decently fun game to play, combining aspects of both the 2-D shooting style of the original games with hack-n-slash elements like dodging and “finishing moves”.
But while the gameplay in itself wasn’t terribly disappointing, (aside from th

how would you see me? Would you even still look?
Would you push me away and pretend I'm not there?
Would the honest me be just too much to bear?
If I threw away caution, let it fly in the wind.
Told you my secrets let all of you in.
Would you still look at me kindly, even still care?
Would you hold my hand gently and still be there?
If I looked at you with anger and sadness or fear,
with you, knowing the reasons, still lend an ear?
If I was to cry and fall down on my face,
would you lie and say nicely it was done with some grace?
With all of my faults laid out to see,
could you accept them and love them honestly?
The price you would pay seeing me under the light,
all the imperfection's and scars no more out of sight.
If you knew me, all of me, open and whole,
would you still say you love me, with all of your soul?
Would you look at me, the same as you do,
when you think that you know me,
when I know that's not true.

I thought I was past this,
That I was done feeling this way.
But why is it you that I still miss
And think about some days.
It appears you have moved on,
And I thought I did too.
I'm trying to be strong
And figure out what to do.
But I can't stop thinking about it,
Can't help but remember all the fun we had.
A possibility inside my mind has been lit,
And this idea has been driving me mad.
Could there still be a chance for us?
Could we start it up again?
I don't want to leave what we had in the dust,
So what does this mean for us then?
Maybe I should just come right out
And say what has been on my thoughts.
What happened has made me doubt
What I originally thought were my wants.
I miss you.
I miss us.
With these thoughts, I'm not sure what to do.
And I don't know who else to trust.
I can't just go up to my friends and say this,
What would they think about my choices now?
But I can't help what I feel and miss.
I'm still trying to figure out how!
I mean, how can this happen?
How can this

A lingering regret
An ache set so deep inside me
I cannot forget
I turned away as my thoughts strayed
“What chances have I missed?”
I don’t want one more regret
To add among the list
I need to know what could’ve been
What could become of this
I’ll take my chances, no regrets
For just one kiss…
Between what I feel and I say
Is what I don’t understand
You say it’s better this way
This is not what I had planned
I watched as you just walked away
“What chances have I missed?”
I’ll add just one more regret
To the top of the list
I need to know if you can see
There was something more to this
I’ll take my chances, no regrets
For just one kiss…
To taste your kiss…
Just one kiss…

Advice for earthbound oc's/Altered charactersI'm starting to get sick of seeing terrible EarthBound "original characters"/mary-sue's/gary-stu's on a daily basis. I snapped yesterday when I saw an EarthBound original character that claimed to have fucking neck snapping powers (no joke), which really annoyed me to death.Advice for earthbound oc's/Altered characters3 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
So this is gonna be a few simple steps of advice to make a good EarthBound original character.
1) Past and backstory
You don't need a dramatic past or dark backstory to make your character interesting. Say, if your character saw their parents die in front of him/her, it's only okay if the character gets over it and doesn't act like a complete emo Final Fantasy character.
It's fine if you make your character witness a death, but don't make them turn into an emo for the rest of their life over it. They can remorse over it of course, but when they constantly are depressed over it, that's just a poor attempt to copy Lucas's back story.
2) PSI powers
I can't emphasize this enough. It's all well and good to have PSI powe

All were gathered 'round the fire when someone asked: "Where's Jim?
It's cold as hell out here and could someone look for him?"
Ragged Sally volunteered and Uncle Buck did too.
Together they would look for Jim down Second avenue.
Up and down and round and round but Jim was nowhere seen.
For supper he was always game and late he'd never been.
A cold wind blew as snowflakes fell upon the icy street.
Just one more round they'd make before they would concede defeat.
Sally thought she'd heard a cry, or was it just the wind?
Buck thought best to head on back, next morning try again.
As they passed the little bridge 'bove Second avenue,
Buck saw something moving on the pavement down below.
There lay Jim in his crumpled vest, his eyes toward the sky.
They rushed to him but 'twas too late, they both began to cry.
He never mentioned family or gave out his last name.
To think he'd died without their love was truly quite a shame.
The paper said a homeless man was found under a bridge.
