It took a while to realize that, no matter how pretty the last few sketch-dumps where, I wasn't really learning anymore.
Sometimes a large user-base just feels like pressure. And pressure makes it feel like you can't afford to fail anymore. And you'll stay inside your comfort zone. And with result. Last years improvement was close to non-existent. But I realize now that staying in my comfort zone will not get me anywhere.

The lack of improvement and recent login issues made me think. So I went back at where I came from. I took a pencil and started sketching again. Real, ugly sketches, with a lot of wobbly lines and such. Anatomy, dogs, and various other things. I realize now; I want to keep this up. Really. I want to draw things that are (slightly) out of my comfort zone, in order to learn.

And I want you to help me.

Come up with anything fun to draw, that is slightly outside my comfort zone.
Things like rocks, objects, something in a specific style, specific poses, or anything that might've helped you getting insight when you were learning to draw.

Try to keep it simple and reasonable. I must be able to sketch it with pencil on paper within 1 hour.
You're free to provide me with references (preferably pictures) or any object or style that you want me to try.

You're free to request the object or style of your liking, but no "sketch my character", please.
This isn't about doing requests, no matter how much you want me to draw your characters. This is about learning.
(And tbh... I think drawing characters is kinda inside my comfort zone... even though it's my view on an unfamiliar character. I've done that a lot already)

I will pick the things that I think I will learn most from.
And if you're willing to learn as well... follow this journal and it's comments. There might be something useful in it for you as well.

So let's make 2014 the year of improvement!
Challenge me to draw stuff.
Challenge yourself to draw better!
Or copy this journal to your own page and invite your friends to challenge you!

Up to a whole awesome new year of sketches! :la:

What's this??
DJ Smackdown is posting even more Vinyl pictures??

I think I'm done posting Vinyl pictures now... Maybe... Unless I'm doing a shoot with another pony or something. The reason for the recently uploaded Vinyl pictures is this: I've lost a lot of weight. Some people haven't noticed but some have, and it personally makes me feel amazing. I was at a very low point for health in my life when the actual photoshoots for Vinyl & Vinyl/Octavia were done and so far throughout 2013 I've lost nearly 50lbs. So to put it simply, my outfit and wig for Vinyl wasn't the only thing that's changed and I definitely wanted to have a couple shots of it. :]

Anyway, on to my other cosplays...
Rainbow Dash should be seen soon. I haven't had the time to do the photoshoot yet but one weekend very soon it'll be done. Spitfire though, that's another story. I was right in that creating this cosplay correctly was going to be a challenge. Progress fell apart and methods have to be re-thunk, but it will be done, I just have to start over and go about it differently. But I'm very excited to do the cosplay and I can't wait until it's complete!

That's all for now, thanks for reading! n_n

Cosplay Friday: Howl's Moving Castle

Fri Feb 13, 2015, 4:30 PM
Img-og by techgnotic

Howl’s Moving Castle is best known as the 2004 animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

While it is as beautifully animated as all of Studio Ghibli's other films this was one of the few times Miyazaki based a film on an existing work. The film is an adaptation of British author Diana Wynne Jones’ 1986 young-adult novel by the same name and the first book in the Howl Series.

Miyazaki takes many liberties and diverts from the original story in various ways, however both the film and novel follow 18-year old Sophie’s adventure after being cursed with old age and the journey she undertakes to break her curse with a handsome and mysterious wizard named Howl. Howl, of course, has a magical moving castle and a “fire demon” friend named Calcifer.

In the beginning of the film, we see Sophie struggling with low self esteem.

She is plain, shy, and not attractive like her sister and mother or the other girls she works with in the hat shop. In the book, Sophie is as attractive as her sisters (Lettie and Martha), but struggles against fate, which she believes her life is ruled by. In her world where fairy tales are the everyday reality, destiny is predetermined and being born the eldest of three means she is destined for failure while the two younger siblings will go on to seek their fortunes. But Sophie, unbeknownst to herself, has magical powers. She has the ability to influence objects with her words. She speaks to her hats as she trims them in the hat shop, making predictions about the futures to come for the women who buy the hats. The irony here is that while Sophie believes her destiny is predetermined, she in fact has the ability to shape the lives of others through her words. Sadly, Sophie’s ability was not carried over into the film.

After being cursed by the jealous Witch of the Waste, both in the film and novel, Sophie finds herself in the body of a ninety-year-old, unable to speak of her curse to anyone. It is her curse that ultimately frees her from her fears and beliefs during the course of her curse-breaking quest. It is only when she has nothing to lose in her mind that Sophie finds and accepts her true self.

Curses abound in this story.

Howl, while the opposite of Sophie in personality and looks, is also cursed and hides from the world. He has lost his heart to a demon and at the beginning of the story is vain and only concerned with himself. In the book Sophie’s and Howl’s relationship develops slowly as they go from quarreling to realizing they’ve fallen in love.

Howl’s castle is a combination of machine and magic.  Miyazaki makes the steampunk-like contraption a thing to behold and it becomes almost another character in the film. It should be noted that as iconic as the castle has become, the design was not originally created for the film. The design was set to go on display at the Studio Ghibli Museum to fill up an empty space. It was later proposed to Miyazaki as the design for the castle.  In order to make it move, he added four chicken legs.

Both versions of the story carry similar themes of things not being what they appear, beauty coming from within, and the power of love to transform.

Speaking of transformations, check out the gallery of Howl’s Moving Castle cosplayers as they spin their own magic to become their favorite character from the movie.

You’re wearing that hat? After all the magic I used to make your dress pretty?”

— Howl

They say that the best blaze burns brightest, when circumstances are at their worst.”

— Sophie

I don’t cook! I’m a scary and powerful fire demon!”

— Calcifer

He’s calling the spirits of darkness… I saw him do this once before when a girl dumped him!”

— Markl

Here’s another curse for you — may all your bacon burn.”

— Calcifer

Oh, yes, I’m the worst kind of witch there is! The one that cleans!”

— Sophie

Your Thoughts

  1. Who is your favorite Howl’s Moving Castle character and why?
  2. What would you like to see in future editions of Cosplay Friday?

Here's an average summary of a private message that I receive on a weekly basis:

I just came by your profile and saw your art, and was very impressed. I think you have a very nice art style. Now I'm working on this project. It's called <project>. It's an awesome story about <subject>. I'm currently writing the script for it, but I'm planning to make a visual novel. I can't tell too much about the story, since I don't want it to be copied, but it's going to be really cool. The point is; I need illustrators. I'm an excellent writer, but I can't do illustration at all. And therefore, I wanted to ask for your help. I need about 60 pages illustrated and colored. Would you work together with me on this one? I don't have any money to spend, as I'm not an established writer yet. But when the visual novel gets published, you can get a percentage of my profit.
With kind regards,
Person X

Well... let me translate this for you.

This Person X is a writer. An excellent one, if you have to believe his statement. He came to my profile, and was very impressed with my art. But as there are at least 20 other names in the CC, I probably wasn't the only one artist that he was impressed by. And since the message lacks a personal reference, it's highly assumed that he send that same message to about a hundred of other artists... in the hope that somebody --anybody-- picks up his illustration request.

He says he is an excellent writer, yet his gallery doesn't show a single piece of writing. I basically have no idea what this project is about, and he ain't gonna tell me either. He's so damn afraid that someone copies his oh-so-awesome plot line, that he even refused to give a small summary. But seeing a gallery full of below-average-level illustrated fanart, and his age being about 15 years old, I assume this 'excellent writing' is either the next piece of anime fanfic, or just another generic anime-based story with characters whose look is probably the only awesome thing about them. Don't get me wrong. Nothing wrong with anime. I watch it a lot. But good luck if you think you're gonna sell a manga-styled visual novel with a plot that looks like it's ripped from just a generic anime. It's not gonna happen.

He wants 60 pages illustrated and colored. That's quite a lot, if you ask me. And I might be a slow illustrator (really, I am), but drawing and coloring a single page is gonna cost me at least a few hours. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. There's a reason why most Japanese manga's are in black and white. Not only to save on printing costs, but also to increase production speed. Because.... coloring takes time! A whole damn lot of time!

Last but not least. The costs. Of course Person X has no money. No wonder. He's a 15 years old kid that probably never had a job and haven't got anything published either. Yes, this an assumption. But seeing he hasn't taken into account how much money printing and shipping costs (it really is expensive), and the fact that he hasn't listed a single plan how to actually promote and market this thing, makes me think that he gave only little thought to that subject. Hence, I think he's inexperienced.

Well... let's be honest.
These things can be fun and flattering once in a while. But getting them on a weekly basis is annoying the shit out of me.

Why? Because I think it's damn arrogant to go around artists, beg them if they can do hours of hard work for free, just to see your project illustrated. And then get angry if an artists turns their offer down. I've seen so much of this already, that it makes me sick.

First of all, I'm not a professional illustrator. I might have decent artwork quality, but I'm not a professional in the sense that I illustrate for money. I have health issues. I have a full-time job that is demanding enough already. Luckily I earn good money by doing that job, so I don't need the extra money from art commissions. I have the freedom to spend my free time however I want, by illustrating whatever the heck I want, and I'd like to keep it that way. One look at my profile front page would've learned you so. Reading my FAQ (the link is also posted at my homepage) would learn you the reason why. So why would anyone even bother sending me that kind of message? Are they that arrogant to think that their request could change my mind on the entire subject?

But let's say that I took commissions. That I did do art for money. They send me a request for illustrating and coloring 60 pages. Let's say you work real fast (I don't, but let's say you do) and you finish one page in about 4 hours. That takes 60 x 4 = 240 hours. On a full-time job, I work 40 hours a week. That means 6 weeks I could've been working. I could've earned 1.5 monthly salary at an average job during that time. And this isn't even a realistic expectation. If there is one thing that I learned from freelancing, is that you will never complete a project in the minimum time. Mostly because of the customer. They haven't got their source material together, they want changes, they want meetings... and whatever. In the early years, a freelance colleague once learned me that in order to guess a good time estimate, you need to take the minimum time required to get the job done, and multiply that by 1.5. And from years of experience in the web industry, I can say that way of estimating is quite correct. So yeah... that makes 9 weeks of my life I could've spend earning money on a regular job.
To do the math; 9 weeks = 360 hours. Apply that to the hourly minimum wage of $10.99 in the Netherlands (where I live) and this whole project would be worth $3956. And that's only minimum wage. Yeah... we're talking about real money here.

And that's exactly the point I want to make. Because Person X has no money. He expects me to do $3956 worth of work to do for free. And maybe, if he's selling enough... I would get some of his money. MAYBE!
Well... let's do some more math here. Let's say the average full color manga is about $10. That means he has to sell 396 of those books to pay my costs. Not his, not the printing costs, not the shipping costs. No, he needs to sell 396 copies alone for me to get even.
Anyone with realistic expectations knows that that is never gonna happen. Not by a 15 year old kid, a book that has a generic anime plot line, and without a decent marketing plan. It's doomed to fail. Even if I illustrate his entire book, he might sell a few copy's to friends and family. But he ain't gonna sell anywhere over 50 copies. And yeah... I've talked to enough artists at anime conventions to know the average selling rate for original art. Unless you already have a massive fanbase and a solid marketing plan, you will be having a hard time to get even with the printing costs alone.

All in all, this is a selfish request from a kid that wants to see his concept illustrated.
The sad truth is... it's not only kids I get those kind of requests from. I can forgive a kid for not knowing how the world works. But many of those requests where from people that were over 20 years old. People that I suppose have jobs and have an idea of how hard is it to pay their bills. People that willingly send out these requests to lure hard working artists into this kind of traps. They might be delusional about their ideas being a success, but most of them just want to see their concept illustrated, and can't be bothered about other people spending a whole damn lot of time on it.
Even many people from the game industry nowadays go to DeviantArt in order to e-mail artists to work for them on shady contracts. I'm talking about well paid recruiters from game company's that contact art students. Those students work for free, just to hope making something that's good for their portfolio's. In the hope they will ever get a small percentage of money from a game that will never sell, or even never see the light of day. And that's the sad truth.

To be honest; getting this kind of selfish requests on a weekly basis, makes me sick.
I have a project that I work on myself. I am a writer myself. And when I wanted my art illustrated, I learned myself how to draw in order to make illustrations for my concept. Sure. I perfectly understand not everybody is capable of doing that. But if you want people to help you out, then pay them. And if you don't have the money, then set up a solid marketing plan and get your money via crowd funding. Dragging others into your selfish issues, should never be an option!

So from now on, I will send all people that send me those kind of requests, to this article.
That will perfectly explain them why I refuse this kind of requests, and what kind of selfish leeches they actually are.

Final Fantasy Fans Rejoice!

After almost a decade of waiting for the next installment, the demo for what might be the most anticipated game in history is almost here. Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae is the two–hour demo giving fans a first look at what they can expect in the new game.

The trailer for Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae gave us a teaser of what’s to come. In the 81–second clip we got glimpses of monsters and sporty cars along with a new incarnation of Cid, or in this case, Cidney the female mechanic. The most recently released footage has brought the biggest surprise — a Cat–Cam feature! There’s speculation as to how the Cat–Cam will actually be incorporated into the game play, but for now, welcome and embrace the Cat–Cam! Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae will be included as part of the the Final Fantasy Type-O release around March 17th, so you’ll need to purchase that to get your hands on the demo.

In other Final Fantasy news.

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, will be honored for his contributions to the gaming industry with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 15th Annual Game Developers Choice (GDC) Awards in March. He’s come a long way from his days working on the first Final Fantasy game back in the mid–80’s. The game’s title was a direct nod to Sakaguchi’s plan to leave the gaming world had Final Fantasy not been a success. The game revolutionized the RPG genre and the series as a whole has sold more than 110 million units worldwide. It has also received 7 Guinness World Records. So it’s safe to say Final Fantasy has been successful.

Sakaguchi has produced some of the most influential franchises in the gaming world, including Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve and Kingdom Hearts. According to Meggan Scavio, General Manager of all GDC events: “Over his illustrious and thriving career, Sakaguchi–san has… helped cement the RPG genre in Japan and around the world. But the gaming world owes an even greater debt to Sakaguchi–san and team for making a compelling game narrative as important to game development as its graphics and sound.”

As exciting as all this news is, the release of Final Fantasy XV is still a way off. Do you need a FF fix now? Well we’ve gathered the best of the best Final Fantasy cosplayers to bring the adventure from the various worlds of this universe to life. So, take a stroll through video game memory lane and revisit all your favorites from Final Fantasy’s gone by as you relish the anticipation of the latest installment to come.

Life and death, victory and defeat, honor and disgrace… Each of these go hand in hand. There’s only one way or the other.”

— Cid, Final Fantasy VIII

No matter how dark the night, morning always comes, and our journey begins anew.”

— Lulu, Final Fantasy X

It’s not a question of can or can’t. There are some things in life you just do.”

— Lightning, Final Fantasy XIII

With each passing day, the world finds new and exciting ways to kill a man”

— Balthier, Final Fantasy XII

This is it. This… is your story. It all begins here.”

— Auron, Final Fantasy X

All those who live must some day die. It is our fate.”

— Minwu, Final Fantasy II

REI: We wanted to make a small post about our new costumes, inspired by the amazing arts of NoFlutter :iconnoflutter:

Lets Play a Game by NoFlutter Second Alternate Victorian Harley Sketch by NoFlutter

You, guys, must have seen my Victorian Poison Ivy costume, which was as well designed and drawn by the same artist. I felt in love with it the minute I saw it. And Ryoko also liked Harley Quinn’s costume and decided to make it in pair with me.

Poison Ivy in Mechanic World by Rei-Doll Poisonous by Rei-Doll

But after some time NoFlutter created the amazing, colorful and eye-catching design of gender bender Joker. And immediately we thought that would be a great idea to make the craziest comics pair of all times together. Harley Quinn and a new girlfriend she created for herself – the Lady Joker! Watch our small performance video here (unfortunately it was blocked for all mobile devices, but you can watch from PC)…

Costumes were not easy to make. For me there were so many different colours in the costume and I tried to pick fabrics carefully, as the first thing NoFlutter told me, she liked the colour choices she made for this design. And I absolutely agree! I wanted to bring the full gamma to life including the vivid yellow-orange-pink corset gradient. That was crazy, as I hate working with paint and fabric dyeing x) But in fact it was so fun to make and I’m also doing a small video tutorial and you’ll see how you can easily make this gradient yourself. Subscribe to our channel and watch for updates ^^…

Ryoko was trying to bring details and proportions to life very carefully just like on the picture, as some cosplayers simplified it or even ignored.  And she is also preparing something big for you, guys! Did you see her flawless wig? It looks so amazing and more over its light as a feather and can be taken into parts for easy transporting. Now how amazing is that? Are you already in awe? But here is the best news - she’s making a video tutorial about this wig for you, guys!  Just watch for updates on our channel and don’t miss it!…
Of course Ryoko also made her gorgeous costume and this cool giant hammer.

In this interview she talks about her favorite part of the literature community, how she would encourage others to get involved with the literature community, as well as deviants she believes deserve more attention to their works. It's a really fun read and for those that don't know, WeirdAndLovely is one of the best writers around. She writes with unadulterated passion and emotion.

Second Interview (Day 2): imaginative-lioness couldn't get in contact with her second scheduled interviewee so she held a truly wonderful literature feature for the second day as a substitute. The incredible pieces and talented writers included are:

I wake up to strangers
in bed-
the oaths
kept in the
depths of my
live metaphors
of the fears
tucked underneath
these sheets
the dearest dreams
these are the cups
of warmth
searching for
a heaven
in my sorrows
a chest
in the riverbed
of a throat
choking in
plucking thorns
from the vine garden
that is
my neck.
They are the ones
in my blood
at night
the magnitude
shuddering my bones
without rest
There's no fright.

folding and unfolding
in my chest
while the moon
my sky's pendant,
and just listens.
 - :thumb423616751: escap-ing - a jar of not-quite-nothingA jar to catch fireflies.
A simple enough concept:
       wait for the twilight hours
       stay alert for twinkling yellow
       then, give chase.
The problem was my aim
(or rather, my lack thereof.
Plus, I didn't really like bugs
I never caught any. And yet,
the jar overflows with
       childish peals of laughter
       cricket chirps
       summer air, ever-blowing
       kicked-up dirt
       wisps of evening cloud
       and the light from the stars.
If I look at that jar from
just the right angle,
I can still see it alight with angel glow:
the bright, twinkling
of firefly light.
Lady-Yume - Valley of the Butterfliesjesse,
sometimes you have to let go
of monsters and magic and guns
from the depths
of raven's garden,
let the music fill the night;
a river of time
for those slipping into the background,
defense devil,
let me fly like a bird
fetching the summer lady
in the valley of the butterflies.
Zeidah8254 - Ode to Fred WeasleyRed hair and freckles, incredibly tall-
you were no doubt a Weasley boy.
But unlike your brothers Charlie and Bill,
you had your very own twin.
You were never found alone.
George was always at your side.
Beaters for Qudditch and owners of shop-
the two of you were peas in a pod.
There's no reason to be ashamed.
You used your skills wisely.
Prefect and Head Boy- they weren't for you.
Your passion laid in inventing and jokes.
Umbridge- that woman who made kids cry
Her punishments were so heartless.
She took your broom, but she still failed.
Your fireworks spectacle won the crowd.
Oh, why did you have to die in vain?
Those Death Eaters don't deserve to live.
They will rot in Askaban,
and the world will morn your death.
mattbearcat - MonsterEver since I could remember
Everything inside of me
Just wanted to fit in
As I take a stand
To escape what is inside me
A monster, growing stronger
As I try and bring it down
Fighting what lay within
As I see it all in my eyes
All the hurt and left behind
As I am a monster to some
And a savior to others
For I’m a monster, a beast
Within the dark inside me
As all I am refuses to settle in
And I clear my continence unlike the rest
Though I am only a man with a candle to guide me
To see me through
Though I don’t want to hide the truth
If I seem dangerous to you
It is not entirely untrue
As I am definitely different from you

Vanelopes-corner - Suit Of ArmorWhat people see on my outside
Isn't really me.
It's just a suit of armor
With a welded smile.
What people see on my outside
Isn't who I am.
I say things I don't believe,
And hide the things I like.
What people see on my outside
Isn't how I feel.
I laugh and joke and play,
But I'm alone in a crowd.
So before you're quick to judge me
Because what you see on my outside
Probably isn't me.
nattrozanska - LacunaI wish there was a way to say nothing over distance
to curl up and fold into you silently
without a word scarring my lungs,
To share heavy air
when language won’t do
and physicality can’t be,
I wish there was a word
I could say to you
to encompass all those looks,
I wish there was a written symbol
to mean the warmth of your flesh on mine,
I wish I could say everything to you
without any words
but you’re too far away.

too much for my own good.
he was a burnt-out angel
with weathered grandfather wings
and an aluminum halo.
"please," I begged, incessant,
"please, stop. you're better than this."
I wrestled with his addiction
as though it was my own,
destroyed syringes straight from
the crook of his elbows.
I always knew he had one true love,
and it sure wasn't me.
his arm was pale and thin
around my shoulders,
pale and thin in the masquerade lamplight,
where he pierced his veins
in belt-constricted solitude.
one night, as I paced
with his bent silver spoon
clutched in my palms,
he told me that he needed it,
oh God, he needed it.
he needed that one slow descent
into black oblivion, that one place
where nothing existed to hurt him.
for the first time,
I realized my place.
whenever he kissed me,
he thought not of my lips,
not of my tongue.
he thought of a cool chill,
needles pricking,

ratikification - Clear WindsOh decadence, play onto drudgery.
Wind sways.
My face feels palms against my cheek,
Some arms around my shoulders, please,
And a mattress beneath my knees.
My soul lacks sprouts to sway,
Fear of being too active.
But a bother to stand still for tomorrow and the day after
Waiting as more life happens.
A sound so sweetly sore.
The wind to carry.
Effort weighty.
What is your taste?
I want to know
Maybe we can drift together.
Are we light enough?
Today is particularly windy.
So take a strand of my hair and
Twine it around your finger
Let our thoughts vibrate through my locks,
Like a sound wave.
You ask me questions that I only have to
Reply yes or no,
And others tell me things I should know.
I find growing fear
Am I blind
Or are you just clear?
SpiralWolf27 - Drowning in Dark WatersThis deep darkness in my soul, the darkness I do not show;
Is slowly eating away at me: I deny this darkness so much, too much;
But no matter how much I deny it, it's here, inside me, lurking;
And because of it;
It has penetrated my heart and soul, with many painful scars;
Every single one of my dreadful scars has caused ticks to me;
Changing how I feel, think, speak;
Yet I do nothing, say nothing;
My soul: A pool of swirling darkness within me;
Filled with all my lies and secrets;
Much sorrow, much regret, much pain;
And my heart, my heart is a piece of parchment;
Drifting mindlessly through this pool;
Falling apart: slowly, painfully remorsefully;
No one cares enough to notice, this poor, dim-witted piece of parchment;
The worst part is no matter how hard others try;
It's all over for the parchment;
It will never be the same again, and there will be yet another scar on the parchment;
Despite all the late efforts to save it, from the ones who thought they knew me, cared for me;

Their branches calling me,
Be with us they say,
Every night, every day.
I stay here all night,
Enjoying the sight,
As the moon shines bright,
I smile at the sky,
And hear the lullaby and a small cry.
The forest welcomes me,
I prance around happily,
This place I will forever stay,
In my own world a ways away.
Chrysalite - UndineIf I could live a thousand years, lives turning into melancholy streams of light around me,
I could listen to the whispers of birch branches by the misty river without crying,
I would be strong enough to resist following feathers in the eye of the storm.
I know the tongues of fire of dragons behind forbidden doors.
I know the mayflies dying in the thousands by the roadside.
I know the shape of my soul from the wounds on my side.
If I could stop turning to the Devil to heal him with my hands,
If I could cease listening to the songs of the searing flames,
I could shoot down the bird that survived the crusades.
Though the smoke in my lungs makes it hard to breathe,
And the howling of the wolves drowns the words,
I cannot unsee the dreams of the seers.

i figured metaphors were a direct line to your heart, but i know jacob, i bet he doesn't put your soul on paper. he probably just snickers when you get that far-off look in your eye, like you see god somewhere out there.
well, perhaps this is just a love note but i can finish strong -- i always did ;) : emma, i love you more than this stupid dog loves your old pillow, and that's a lot.
actually, scratch that: i love you more than you love your new pillow, wherever it is, because your new pillow isn't beside mine, honey.

Third Interview (Day 3) imaginative-lioness interviews the very talented and totally lovable saltwaterlungs, as well as the fantastic and influential DrippingWords: Literature Roadtrip Interview Week: Day 3
Welcome back to the Literature Roadtrip Interview Week! Yesterday, I didn't have an interview for you, but today I have two! I am excited to introduce you all to these wonderful deviants, as I love them so damn much.
Firstly, saltwaterlungs - formerly NonsenseQueen - is an excellent deviant. Her work is seriously fantastic, and you will not be disappointed when you search through her gallery.

What is your favourite way to get involved in the literature community?
I love joining groups. I almost obsessively sift through teh groups here and try to join as many as possible, because I believe that each group holds something special. Whether it be really great prompts or great people, there's always some element to each gorup that makes me want to become a part of the family.
How do you go about getting feedback on your work?
As I said
This double interview is a truly great read and look into how these two wonderful deviants view this great site and our awesome literature community. Caitlan (DrippingWords) and Hannah (saltwaterlungs) are both very heartfelt writers with wonderful knacks for creating some great, poignant imagery in their poetry.

Fourth Interview (Day 4) imaginative-lioness interviews one of the most adorable and wonderful-est ladies ever in the truly fantastic IrrevocableFate: Literature Roadtrip Interview Week: Day 4
Sorry this interview is a little late (like a day), I went out for dinner last night with a couple of friends and when I got back home I was so exhausted that I put on Star Trek: The Next Generation and fell asleep to the beautiful voice of Captain Picard. Anyway! This interview was meant for yesterday, and today's interview will be posted tonight. Okay.
I would like to introduce to you all, IrrevocableFate. Have you been to her gallery? Have you? If you haven't you are seriously missing out, because you would be definitely amazed by the work that she has posted. Trust me.

What is your favourite part of the literature community?
The people, hands down. The deviants here are what truly make the community and they're such a wonderful, diverse group that it's amazing. Amazing. I've always met and come across such fabulous people who do so much, they comment,
In this spectacular interview you see how one of the most well-established and esteemed writers (And people) on the site goes about her business here. It’s always great to get insight from such an experienced (Not to mention lovely) deviant such as this. She uses emotive language so well. Stephany is simply one of the finest story-tellers on deviantART.

Fifth Interview (Day 5) imaginative-lioness interviews….me, chromeantennae: Literature Roadtrip Interview Week: Day 5
And hello again! Welcome back to Literature Roadtrip Interview Week, how are you enjoying it so far? Have you visited the deviants mentioned? Added them to your watch? Searched through their galleries, perhaps favourited some of their work? I hope so.
Now, I would like to introduce you to chromeantennae - though, if you haven't met him yet you must be seriously living under a rock. He is the nicest, sweetest and kindest person on deviantART, and his gallery is amazing. You could not get a better deviant.

What made you want to start 'Adjusting the Antennae?
What made me want to start ‘Adjusting The Antennae’ was a multitude of things, honestly. I had a great deal of inspirations coming from
I’m featured here as the "fifth" interviewee for LR Interview Week and in this discussion I try to shed some light for some lesser-known writers to get more attention to their works, my interview series ‘Adjusting The Antennae,’ some of my greatest influences on this site as well as some truly spectacular writers who I felt deserve more attention. Please check this out and see if you guys see any pieces, interviews of mine, or deviants you like from this interview.

Sixth Interview (Day 6) imaginative-lioness interviews the extremely influential and supremely talented BloodshotInk Literature Roadtrip Interview Week: Day 6
Once again, I am late to post this interview. But I promise you all that apart from square dancing (yeah, I know), I have been working hard getting everything for Literature Roadtrip 2.0 ready. So, I've been very productive. This just means that you'll get two wonderful interviews today, and that tomorrow is… OFFICIALLY THE LITERATURE ROADTRIP!

BloodshotInk is an absolutely amazing deviant. Her work is beyond inspiring and beautifully written. And she is incredibly nice and kind to everyone in the literature community. Plus, her profile page looks awesome, I'm insanely jealous!

How do you get involved in the literature community?
*Looks blank for a minute* Gosh. Uh. I don't know. I have a variety of different things I play with. I do features, interviews, I help out on groups. I like to run competitions. I've been running l
In this truly fantastic interview Kathryn talks about the different groups she's a part of, what she does to get involved with the literature community, how to get more feedback on your works (With an extremely helpful article for those that don't know!), and the artists she feels deserve more attention. Definitely an amazing read on a truly wonderful deviant.

Seventh Interview (Day 7) imaginative-lioness interviews the wonderfully kind, quirky, and multi-talented camelopardalisinblue Literature Roadtrip Interview Week: Day 7
Annnnnddddd here we are, the final interview of the Literature Roadtrip Interview Week. I was immensely excited for this week, and despite a few days where I have been busy causing a few interviews to be late, I am pretty happy with it. I loved learning about these seven deviants.
So, the last deviant I want to introduce to you all is camelopardalisinblue. I've had the pleasure of talking to this lovely deviant a few times, she is one of the nicest people I have talked to on deviantART. Plus, her work is incredible. If you haven't checked out her gallery, I am seriously disappointed in you!

What is your favourite part of the literature community?
I think the close-knit feeling there is. Perhaps it's just me, but I feel like people in the literature community here on deviantArt tend to pull together a lot more despite wide gaps between skill levels and such. We
In this final interview to cap off what's been a truly fantastic week of interviews, Dawni speaks about her favorite part of this literature community, how she would change certain parts she didn't care for (And I completely agree with her.), as well as deviants she feels deserve more attention and eyes on their works. It's a truly wonderful final interview heading into the Literature Roadtrip.
