I'm serious, it's awful. There are so many rules and expectations that it's hard to breathe. It's all I can do every once in a while to ride Angus, my beloved horse and only companion, through the woods just outside the castle walls. My mother doesn't understand why I do it. She doesn't know why I act like I do, so unproper and unbefitting of a lady.
The truth is, she never even asked.
"That was a good ride, Angus boy." I said to Angus as I cooled him down and put him up in his stall for the night. "I'll see you tomorrow!" I called over my shoulder as I rushed into the castle, bow in one hand, my dinner that I had swiped from the kitchen in the other. Shuffling into the dining room, I throw my bow onto the table and flop into my chair. My mother, Queen Elinor, looked up from her letters bearing the seal of the four other clans of the kingdom; MacIntosh, Dingwall, MacGuffin, and Berk. Berk was a rather far away
Linked (Big Four Fan Fiction) Chapter 15 I had gone to bed that night with the resolution that the next day I would resolve the issue in morning by apologizing to Hiccup. I knew in my gut that it was the right thing to do. When I actually woke up, things panned out differently.Linked (Big Four Fan Fiction) Chapter 152 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Are you alright, Rapunzel?" Rapunzel had slumped into my room early in the morning, looking forlorn.
"No, I'm not," She sighed, and I drew myself out of my bed so that I could listen. As I was rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I heard her say, "It's my mom."
"Mum problems?" I yawned, stretching out. "I know all 'bout those."
"Not problems, just.... frustrations." Rapunzel collapsed onto the bed, her body almost folding onto itself. Her large green eyes were sad and filled with tears, and I immediately pushed off my bed.
"What kind of frustrations?" I wasn't very good with emotions or communication. That was always my mum's thing.
Linked (Big Four Fan Fiction) Chapter 3 "Elders," Mum said with her smile pressed tightly into a line, "meet my daughter, Princess Merida of Dunbroch." Her look said 'I'll kill you later when no one else is watching.' A large, redheaded man with an unruly red beard stepped forward, with a smile, and even though it had been five years since I'd last seen him, I knew he hadn't changed at all.Linked (Big Four Fan Fiction) Chapter 32 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Eh, Merida!" Stoick called cheerfully. "Are you still the best archer in the land?" In a lot of ways, Stoick, the Elder of Berk, reminded me of my own father. His support of my self-reliance was one of them. I beamed at this large, lovable man.
"You know I am!" I proudly proclaimed, raising my chin and puffing out my chest.
"Merida!" My mother hissed sharply. "Princesses don't boast." I opened my mouth to retaliate when a voice from behind me cut in.
"Merida never really was too keen on being a proper princess." I whippe
Linked (Big Four Fan Fiction) Chapter 2 The next day, I woke up in Angus' stall surrounded by clean hay. As I inhaled to the beautiful, earthy scent, I wondered how Angus managed to avoid trampling me while I slept. Groggily, I stretched and yawned as my stiff body creaked and groaned. I made a mental note to never sleep in Angus' stall again, unless of course I fancied waking up aching. All of a sudden, Angus started shifting his weight and neighing in fright. Ignoring my creaking limbs, I sprang off the ground and walked out of the three-sided stall to find a large, sleek, black dragon with moss green eyes literally grinning with pleasure and contempt as he growled and hissed at poor Angus, whose eyes looked like those of a feral animal from fear. I recognized the dragon immediately and I stormed over to just outside one of the stall walls confront him. He didn't see me until I was squarely in front of him.Linked (Big Four Fan Fiction) Chapter 22 years ago in General Fiction More Like This

"You- you believe in me? You know who I am?" Jack's eyes glazed over, as if he was off in his own little world where I wasn't pointing an arrow at his heart. For a second, he looked lost.
"You're expecting me to trust that you're some sort of magical snow fairy?" I asked in disbelief. He couldn't be serious.
"Hey, that's Mr. Magical Snow Fairy to you." He grinned and I let out an ever-so-ladylike snort. Figuring that he didn't have a malicious bone in his body, I lowered and unloaded my bow. Once I was unarmed, he leapt off my bed and bounded over until her was mere inches away. I tried to step back, but he grabbed my arms and held me in place, his piercing blue eyes deep and soulful, wise beyond their years.
"What are you doing?" I muttered, breathless as he continued to search my face for something.
Yer Not Goin' Te Win Die! Die! Die!” Merida cried out with pure glee as she effectively shot and killed her boyfriend in Call of Duty. She couldn’t help the giddy smile that broke across her face with the satisfaction of winning as Jack pouted on the couch next to her. Merida Dunbroch and Jack Overland were lounging in Merida’s basement one frigid December day because Jack had unwisely told his girlfriend that as a girl she was inevitably terrible at video games. As any competitive, offended feminist would do, she challenged him to game of Call of Duty. He lost, badly. That’ll show him, Merida thought smugly.Yer Not Goin' Te Win2 years ago in Romance More Like This
Jack knew it was a bad idea to challenge Merida, but he did it anyway because he thought she would show some mercy to her boyfriend. He was wrong. Obviously. He scowled as he watched the fiery haired beauty laugh at him. He loved her hair. It was like a warning signal
Linked Chapter 4 (Big Four Fan Fiction) I huffed and slumped in my chair, defiantly ignoring my mother's instructions to sit up straight. I didn't care if my slouching ran off one of my "suitors"; I didn't want one to begin with! I wanted more out of life than birthing children for a man I hardly knew so he could boss me around and expect me to bend to his will. I glanced up at the clan's leaders, who were proudly marching into the room with their sons and men trailing behind them. The eldest sons were all carrying a banner depicting their clan's family crest.Linked Chapter 4 (Big Four Fan Fiction)2 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Cheifs," My mother called out to the men and boys before her as she rose from her throne. "you are here to present your sons to us, the royal family of Dunbroch, for our eldest daughter's hand in marriage. May I introduce to you Princess Merida of Dunbroch." She curtsied and turned to me expectantly. I huffed and stood begrudgingly. I opened my mouth to speak but my mum shook her head, signally that I was just supposed t

The poor beast let out a distressed whinny and he reared. "Jack!" I protested, "You're scaring Angus!" At this, Jack halted abruptly and turned towards me. His blue eyes danced with a mixture of amusement and confusion before he spoke again.
"Angus? You named your horse after beef?" Jack asked.
"Angus is a great name!" I protested crossing my arms over my chest.
"For a cow!" Jack shot back, much to my disapproval. Apparently it was to Angus' disapproval too, because he kept shifting irritably.
"Merida!" North's voice called out. "Why is there a horse in my Workshop?"
"Her horse's name is Beef!" Jack cried gleefu
