Parent LogicYou know what's funny about the parents out there who don't want their kids to be artists or create certain things because it's either 1) not a good way to make a living, or 2) not what they wanted you to grow up to do in life?Parent Logic7 months ago in Personal More Like This
The fact that, while many other kids and teens are out doing hard drugs, drinking too much, having sex with whoever they please, etc., artists are putting their imagination and creativity to work to make the world more colorful and interesting.
What's so bad about that? I say all parents should support any artistic endeavors their kids may want to tackle. Art is good for the soul. I'd rather have my kid painting a gory death scene (in fact, I'd encourage it) than have them out actually trying to hurt people. Regardless of what people say, if a kid wants to pursue horror art, it doesn't mean they'll grow up to be psychopaths unless they're like the two idiots who tried to kill the girl over Slenderman. They were mentally unstable from the beginning.

The Art Institutes are a scam! The goal of this group is to raise awareness of the fact that the heavily advertised "Art Institutes" are not real art schools, but corporate owned diploma mills that exploit young people’s dreams to sell fake education for ungodly amounts of money. I went briefly and dropped out after realizing my $120,000 ‘education’ was not going to get me a job anywhere or allow me entrance to a Grad school. Their over 40 locations are owned by the Education Management Corporation(EDMC) which is possibly the main villain in today’s corporate education scam. They have been sued many times, but are still in operation and growing. Now they have several other chains of schools other than the Art Institutes (Brown Mackie College, Southern University, Western State University, and Argosy University). In order to destroy them we must make sure everyone knows about this awful scheme so that they lose business and shut down on their own.The Art Institutes are a scam!6 years ago in Personal More Like This

BUT BOY DO I FEEL GOOD ABOUT MY ART.
and you should too!
Tips on becoming the artist you want to be
✸ note that these are tips on how I've started- everyone is different! Learn however you want to learn!
1. STOP DRAWING ONLY FOR OTHERS AND JUST START DRAWING FOR YOU
Ok so this for me was the hardest step. I never ever drew for enjoyment. Even when I drew my characters I wasn't really having fun? What you should do is stop all commissions. Stop all trades. And give yourself one day to draw to make you happy. Even if you don't improve at all you will start loving your art! I know I do!
2. FIND ART THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
What is better than finding a style that you really love? Than looking at all this art from people that inspires you? NOTHING. (okay maybe besides starbucks and kittens but still!)
when you fin

Low Poly Modeling Re-DefinedLow Poly Re-DefinedLow Poly Modeling Re-Defined3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So there has been a lot of confusion on this subject, especially on Deviant Art what classifies as low polygon and what doesn't.
Often you browse around DA see DD's or Game-art you like, see the triangle count and go 'omg that is too high poly!' Stop. Right. There.
Just stop. Low polygon has been miss-categorized lately and it's almost insulting to just assume someone's triangle count is 'way too high poly'. Low poly can fall into many more groups then you think, and even 20,000 tri's can be considered a lower polygon range.
A bit of terminology before we begin
When we talk about polygon count, or poly count, we actually mean Triangle count, or tri count in Game Development Art. The reason for this is most games/game engines/hardware renders out using triangle counts. Polygons are the four sided faces you create to make your 3D model (shame on you for 5+ kidding! ), however, for every polygon there is there would be 2 triangles.
So for example
Ripper StreetThe, surprisingly good, Ripper Street returned to begin its second series last night.Ripper Street2 years ago in Personal More Like This
When it first showed up last year, I believed it was shamelessly riding on the success of the Sherlock Holmes movies. Watch the opening credits and you'll understand why:
However, while those that made the opening are obviously Robert Downey Jr fans, the writers of the series are more interested in telling their own stories.
Ripper Street is a very, very good crime drama, and seems to have production values on par with the genre behemoths produced over in America.
It's set in late 19th century London and follows a trio of lawmen from Whitechapel's H Division: the well-to-do Detective Inspector Reid, his right-hand man Detective Sergeant Drake and a rogue Pinkerton agent, Captain Jackson.
Despite the title, this series is not about chasing Jack the Ripper. They did something far more interesting with the legend in using the panic that it created as a backdrop.
A real storyOkay, so I tell you a story,A real story10 months ago in Personal More Like This
A real story. Listen closely to what I would like to whisper.
There was a little girl whose parents decided life would be better without each other.
She was 4 that time and didn't really understood that daddy was no more there.
That girl's mom was very young, about 24 and had troubles with finding a good job and give her daughter food everyday. They often was hungry but her mom didn't let the child find out how many problems they actually had those times.
They 2 often changed their places, moved in and out from grandparents to lodgings. There wasn't enough money for important stuff but after the mother got a little bit help from her granny, they could buy an own flat.
The little girl was exactly 6 years old and happy until men started appearing next to her mom.
Some moved in, some just came at night, some didn't even want to meet her and some hurt her in some ways.
There were good moments too but mostly bad ones.
The mother wanted ev

Bla bla bla. Independence. 1776. America. John Adams. Hooray.
So there's been this "internet declaration of independence" that's been going around the web recently, and to be honest I think it's a load of bull. As much as I love free speech and rights and etc, I simply can't get behind it, and it disturbs me that so many companies ARE getting behind it. There's just too much entitlement from people on the internet who think they "deserve" everything, and it's really beginning to creep me out. I'm all for abolishing SOPA and ACTA other things like it, but I just can't in good faith get behind the "internet declaration of independence." Sorry.
What's with this weird anti 4th of July backlash that's going on? All the people complaining about the "patriotism" and stuff. I know it's always existed, but I've never seen it this massive before. Do people really just not understand the point of holidays? It's lik

Honestly didn't see that one coming, but I am happy nonetheless. While the first game wasn't very remarkable, I just love the art style and the stark contrast the game presents compared to every other post-apocalyptic-near-future-world that exists. Chock me up to interested.
Didn't see this one coming either. Quite surprised, but personally don't care. I've never really paid attention to fighting games much, yes even Super Smash Bros. I have a feeling this will be one of those games that we think will be amazing, but the newest generation of kids won't understand why they should care (kinda like DuckTales).
Sidenote: Quite disappointed with the way they handled the demonstration by bringing out a woman to play multiplayer with and "destroying" her while simultaneously saying shit like "just give up... it will be over soon." Scripted or not, that scene was appalling.
Minecraft on Xbox One
I'm... actually quite disappointed by this as
