"Senpai! Senpai! Happy first day of school, Senpai!"
He mentally groaned, trying to ignore the chattering twin underclassmen that had appeared next to him. Lumina and Verona had been following him around since their first year.
He took off his white bone glasses, exchanging them for a "normal" pair. The school administration had a thing about masks, and students had to take them off before heading for class.
"Cut it out!" Szayel snapped, whirling on the twins. "I just got in the door, can't the whining wait until Science Club? Besides, I have to get to class."
"But, Senpai... "
Without waiting for the response, the pink-haired student turne

“Oi, Saskia, wake up.” Levi shook her shoulder.
“Ngh…What time is it?” A pair of sleepy green eyes struggled to open, barely able to see any more than a familiar silhouette in the darkness of her bedroom.
“Time to go.”
“Go do paperwork?” she yawned, trying to lift her head from the pillow
“No dumbass, the sun is barely up. There’s no paperwork to do yet.”
“Then I’m going back to sleep.” Her eyes fluttered shut as her head dropped down to the pillow and she rolled over facing the wall. Levi pulled her pillow out from underneath her and hit her over the head with it.
“Get your lazy ass out of bed!” he barked.
She bolted upright, nose wrinkled as always when agitated. “Do you want me to sleep or not?!” she shrieked. “Make up your mind!” She grabbed the pillow, hugging it to her chest and fell back down on the bed, curling up into a bal

I love a good mystery. It takes me to another place. A place where I'm the could-be hero if I'm observant and intelligent enough. Honestly I believe these qualities should be the base of any hero. Puzzles left up to me to solve make my heart pump. Give me a crime and a lead and leave me alone. I can guarantee that I'll have it solved before you can say "Sherlock".
But this is different. There is no crime so-to-speak. At least not that I know of. All I have is a letter from my shoe locker.
What is it with people at this school and leaving me notes? I've only been in Inaba for roughly a year and I've a decent-sized collection of letters in a drawer at home. Some of them were from confused girls, sealed with a kiss sticker and laced with perfume. Obviously they hadn't heard from the rumor mill yet that I was their gender, though some of them may not have cared.
Either way, none of the letters were importa

A languid silence is haunting the eerily still air as you gracefully lean back, catching yourself to sit with your legs outstretched. A few tall stalks of grass tickle the bare skin underneath your ear, and you watch as the clouds high above cast shadows across the rolling landscape. The sky is in a constant twilight, a sad shade of blue with overpowering hints of pink bedecked with twinkling stars. There is no moon to speak of, and you welcome the serene landscape and lack of light, for you feel that it’s the atmosphere that has the crystalline tears delicately trailing the contours of your face. You haven’t allowed yourself to openly cry in months. For this time of solitary, you are grateful.
There’s a soft crunching of grass, but you do not bother to turn. Here, no one can hurt you. You have no reason to be afraid.
“I didn’t expect to see you here,” Ryoji effortlessly takes his place beside you, resting his forearms across his raised knees. From t

But here I am, wearing a nice blue spring dress, waiting anxiously for him to arrive. That’s right, Naoto Shirogane is wearing a dress. The faster we move on from this fact, the faster I can hopefully forget and feel more comfortable. Why wear it at all? Well, I want to give him a nice surprise, I guess. Make the day more special. Honestly, despite that I’m still wondering if I should change since we agreed to go on a picnic. I’m afraid my choice of attire is poor for such a thing. The way its mysterious origin was born years ago only to produce a seemingly interminable trickle of Shadows into the halls of Tartarus. The way in which only a select handful of possibly random individuals are chosen to face its horrors despite the burden the extra hour weighs on the human body's stamina attempting to prevent any person's survival during the supernatural sixty minutes. The way those unable to feel their way into the Dark Hour morph into coffins, as if already dead but ready to chatter, slumber, and laugh on when the clock hits 12:01. The way electricity circuits to a death as if broken and vandalized for the entirety of the hour, only to be restored at the Dark Hour's end to complete restoration. All of it, no matter which aspect Akihiko ruminates over with more precision than the other, is outright strange.
Shinjiro Aragaki, however, Akihiko thinks is stranger.

Absolutely BeautifulHe was beautiful. Undoubtedly, he was the most beautiful Shinigami in Seireitei. His azure eyes, his raven locks, the perfect shape of his face, the graceful way he carried himself, he was beauty personified. Yumichika continued to praise himself as he gazed into the mirror, fixing himself before bed, making sure to run the brush through his hair one-hundred times, cleaning off his makeup, removing the feather decorations from his right eye. From the clean, slightly spicy scent that now filled his nose, he knew when he turned around he'd be facing the only man that could make him question his definition of beauty; his shi

Chapter 4: Home
Rogue regrets being easily persuaded by Sting to not leave until the next day. The White Dragon had caught Rogue leaving the city and convinced him to think about his actions. He knew what he wanted, but where does he start? Maybe that was what was Sting was trying to convey. He wanted his shadow friend to have a plan before leaving instead of searching blindly. Sting and Lector stayed behind in case of that small chance that you would return to your home. Frosch was flying beside Rogue, rushing towards the next town. He had figured you went to a place that was opposite of Sabertooth's philosophy. He found that difficult since most guilds weren't obsessed with victory to the point of harming their comrades.

It was just another shitty "day" on the meteor; perusing the corridors out of boredom, checking in periodically on Mayor and TZ, but otherwise just shambling about. They were fun and all, but two years of the same old shit got boring.
You had been making your way down into the meteor to ecto up some coffee (it tasted terrible, but it was something to do) when you took a wrong turn. It only took two hallways to figure this out, but before you could turn and track your way back, you heard something.
Soft though it was, it was a sound you would recognize from a mile away.
The sound of a blade being drawn from its sheath.
Your hand rests at the hilt of your own sword as you send a quick glance around. It had been muffled, though; probably from one of the closed doors dappling the hall. You pause to listen and sure enough there's another sound bubbling up from the white noise.

July 1st, 844, Survey Corps Training Grounds
“We have an act to keep up, in case you forgot. We can’t afford to parade our true intentions around, something we’ll inadvertently end up doing should we not maintain the ruse. The Military Police would tear the Survey Corps apart for harboring a fugitive and you may very well spend the rest of your years behind bars. Very, very unsanitary bars at that. So I’m only going to say it once more. Pretend that I’m training you.”
Levi pretended to give her words careful consideration. “…no. You can say it all you want. Doesn’t mean I’m going to listen to you.”

“Entertainment,” he replied with a shit-eating grin.

Pathia tilted her head back and stared straight up to the launch projecting off the Lower Rise of Thunder Bluff. Her mouth gaped slightly as a crooked smile worked its way over her features. She would finally see the city! The lift descended amid shuddering groans and creaks that changed her grin to a suspicious tightening of her lips; after all, she was hardly capable of flight if that thing should suddenly plummet back to Mulgore's plains. A gust of wind buffeted against the structure, and it swayed with what she considered an alarming amount of jostling. Tentatively, she took a step backwards away from the conveyance as it landed, only to be thrust forward again as several people behind her merged ahead to board. She muttered a soft prayer as it slowly ascended and then stumbled her way onto the Lower Rise when it finally reached the top.
Her nose wrinkled up into an expression of distaste as she was assaulted by the overwhelming stench of perfume and cologne. She coug

Runeclaw returned from helping in Arathi Basin with a gasping, "Oh gosh!" as she noted the late hour. She was supposed to be at The Crossroads in just half an hour and here she was dawdling in the Undercity. She grabbed her tokens from the battlemaster and sprinted towards the center of the city. When she reached the bank, she shoved the mixed Gulch and Basin tokens across the counter at the clerk.
"I need the letter I gave you a few days ago," she told the specter that hovered across the counter. She had been practically living in the Undercity this past week as she worked on her budding alchemy skills. She barely even noticed the smell of the eye-poppingly green rivers anymore. Sometimes, she had an itching curiosity to go swimming in there just to see what it was really like.

Runeclaw raced out of the Druid tent at full tilt in her newly mastered cheetah form. She zigged around a Bluffwatcher, zagged between two Forsaken walking across the bridge (who happened to throw an ulna at her tail), and then burst onto the High Rise with a smug kitty grin. She felt absolutely exhilarated! While her usual cat form provided some lightness and increased speed compared to her lumbering bear and equally lumbering Tauren morphs, this new form was like riding the wind to her. She could hardly wait until she was strong enough to actually do that as well!
Her ears flicked in opposite directions as she tried to decide where to go to really give this new form a "test run." She giggled internally at her own pun, and then bounded to the tower ramp with a sour look as she immediately lost control of the form. Grumbling, she stomped over the short curve and came to a stop before Tal, the windrider master.
She stared at him. He stared at her. Neither of them spoke for a long time,
The Beginnings of a DragglehoofMy name is Pathia Wildmane. I was born into a very small tribe of Wildmane that made their home within the wilds of Feralas after emigrating from Desolace. My father is Urell Wildmane, a revered hunter, and my mother is Adne Wildmane, a leatherworker. I have a twin brother, Kitahl, who managed to squeak out ahead of me by a few minutes. He's never let me forget I'm the "younger" sister. Most of my tribe is comprised of hunters, and I tried very hard to learn those skills. I spent more time daydreaming than working on my archery though. When I was about 20 summers old, my parents bore another set of twins, almost unheard of among my people, another brother and a sister. There was a lot of talk about that at the time, but I rarely listened to it. I rarely listened to anything. Since the twins were even more trouble than myself, my parents turned their attention to my younger siblings. This left me with more freedom to explore the forest and spend even more time daydreaming. The Beginnings of a Dragglehoof2 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
