I just had some thoughts about Deviantart lately . It's because I've noticed how activity is decreasing. Not on my profile but in general I mean. (my friends, people I watch, other users like Sakimichan who usually is having 10k favs per image now is having 2k being the most popular in the DA) So I checked this and that some statistics and it seems activity dropped really bad. Pretty large part of visitors comes from India where you usually buy clickers.
Now I wonder about two things:
1. Have you also noticed it?
2. Why is it happening?
For WHY part I have some thoughts too. I already shared few months ag

Pimping out a few amazing peopleA lot of stuff has been happening lately. I don't really have the time to create anything for myself but I do lurk around, and recently I've found I and met tons of amazing artists. An incredibly cool guy who creates graphics and animations for Jesse Cox from OMFGCata. I even made some fan art of his animations! He isn't too active on dA but that's exactly why you should give him some love and make him post more!
One of the most adorable and talented artists I've recently stumbled upon. I fell in love with her art and immediately commissioned two illustrations from her! A lot of you might know her from her Nightvale fanarts, but her gallery has much more tasty stuff that might interest you.

So according to the poll most people said they'd like the idea of creating a school-like group. Some of them wanted it to be a serious, well organized group and that is what me and my friends decided to do.
:icondaversity: is a free of any charge group teaching how to create OC's (original characters) and environment they exist in. We help you to create credible world or improve your skills in drawing.
I encourage you to apply
Where the idea came from:
In the past I was teaching teens and children in Poland to draw. But it was different, traditional and I didn't use tutorials to teach (just fist :iconimveryhappyplz:. Then I went where they paid me more, to the journals, publishing houses etc. And guess what. I ended up on DA doing commissions and I always felt very comfortable here, that comfortable that I decided to share my knownledge in some teaching groups. But sadly non of them was the group I was looking for:

Getting started with concept art and landscapesHi guys,Getting started with concept art and landscapes2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've received a lot of notes from people who are interested in getting into concept art and/or landscapes and I always struggle to come up with advice that doesn't seem awfully confusing. I can't say I'm a veteran in this industry, but since people keep asking me and I do have experience, here's my 2 cents (PSA: by no means a comprehensive guide or the absolute truth). I am very humble when it comes to learning this stuff and I never know enough myself, but these are some of my thoughts that came up when a student sent me a note today;
My best advice is to climb to the tree from the root and accept that there's no shortcut.
Concept art is a very loose term. It can mean anything from sketching characters, enemies, vehicles and objects to doing detailed plans of level visual design or landscapes. Game concept art can also serve a lot of purposes. Most of the time the most crucial purpose of concept art is to communicate (a) game designers' idea of how a game looks

Sick and tired of 9gag theft[Update: After 13 Days, they finally removed the image. ]Sick and tired of 9gag theft2 years ago in Personal More Like This
a new Mini Comic sadly means, more theft over on 9gag. Like clockwork, someone stole the most recent one and reposted it here within minutes.
I have had every single Mini Comic stolen so far without fail, and I feel that now I am forced to use more prominent and ugly watermarks in the future.
In general I don't mind when people share my art, as long as 1. no money is earned through the post (9gag makes about $13k a day through ad revenue with traffic generated by stolen material) 2. watermarks are not removed and people can find the source 3. people ask beforehand.
I have a Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, so on those sites I post most of my art anyway which people can simply retweet, reblog and share.
So far, 9ga
Incompetence sharingSo, here's a pretty interesting art topic that I seldom find to be discussed.Incompetence sharing10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Basically, there's this idea that the art industry just absolutely needs a tsunami of tutorials from everyone and their mother. Not just from the masters of their craft, but anyone who yesterday held a pencil in their hand. Everyone is in a fervor to EDUCATE, it seems. Unfortunately, without the credentials to do so.
Yesterday I saw a tutorial on the front page, on how to draw flames and fire. What struck me was how abysmal it was - not only the presentation of the process looked bad, but the result, which the author toted as a "flame", сame out to be very, very poor. This prompted me to reflect back on all the previous shit-tutorials I've seen, and how they're not only unhelpful, but damaging to other, young artists. There recently had been a flood of them - how to draw water, how to draw this, how to draw anime eyes, etc - pathetic in quality, utterly unhelpful and presenting a result that is anything
VIDEO TUTORIAL IS FINALLY SUBMITTED!!!Video tutorialVIDEO TUTORIAL IS FINALLY SUBMITTED!!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This

1. Hello! For the beginning, could you tell us something about yourself?
Hello, call me 'evan'. I'm from S. Korea, a professional comicbook artist and also art teacher. English is not my first language but I will try to answer the questions in earnest
2. When did you read Tolkien's books for the first time, and what impression did they leave in you?
REAL CREATIVISM LOGA lot of people ask me what do i think when im drawing, whats your creative process, and what are the magical fairies you are thinking while you draw, about life, beauty and wisdom of the world. You will be surprised how thats not what i think while i draw and how this process repeats all the time while i draw.REAL CREATIVISM LOG3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The purpose of this journal its to let people know how we are all filled with doubts agony and stupid funny things while we draw. So you wont feel you are doing something wrong.
Will be cool if this became a spam, and people started to share in their journals the same way i did while you are at work.
Okay, lets star, first the setting, if you had seen the tv show 24, picture that way while im drawing, with several cameras on my sides, this will make the reading more funny, if you havent seen the show picture this sound each time you read time passes, while im drawing.
Okay lets start.

Feature my Favorite Avatar cosplayers in dAJust back from Armadeggon, I saw so many amazing cosplays that made me excited.Feature my Favorite Avatar cosplayers in dA3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I love cosplay for quite some time, I think cosplay is also a kind of fanart in a more realistic from.
I always feel that cosplay deserve more attention and favorite in dA,
So here I'd like to feature some of my personal favorite Avatar cosplayers with their best cos photos.
I know there are lots of amazing Avatar cosplay out there, but I can't collect them all.
The cosplayers I featured here should have their own dA account and have at least 3 pieces photoshots of the chatarcter in their gallery. I love their works not only because they represent the appearance well, but also I saw the spirit of the characters.
More than welcome to check their homepage by click their icon/Avatar.
So here we go!!~
