Some thoughts on New Doctor's Eve...Tomorrow (Sunday) the world's going to find out who the next Doctor will be. And with that, a spirited debate that's been going on in fandom will probably wind down for a while:Some thoughts on New Doctor's Eve...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Should we allow for the possibility that the next Doctor could be a woman?"
At this point, almost every aspect of that question has been talked to death elsewhere (including other parts of my own DA page), and I don't want to retread it here (too much). But here's one of the most interesting (and increasingly common) arguments for why it shouldn't happen, and I want to focus on it for a few minutes. I'll quote it the way it was said by one commentator here:
"If you make him a woman you're taking away an amazing role model for young boys. There have always been great female role models in the form of the companions, but the doctor is one of the only role models boys have who uses his wits and heart to get through a situation, not his fists."
I've seen that st
Mae says- Is 'Frozen' the modern 'Lion King'?There has been a topic that has been bothering me lately that involves people making posts comparing this new Disney Era with the Disney Renaissance (Disney's animation era throughout the nineties). Not only do I find this really absurd, but also painfully unresearched. People seem to be focused on genres and the money the film made rather than the content and the impact the film made within the company. Because 'Frozen' made more money than 'The Lion King', apperantly it's 'better'? Now, if you believe that Frozen is better than TLK, you are entitled to think whatever you want. However, I believe that these two films are in completely different levels when it comes to their impact, atmosphere, music, and characters. Just because one of them made more money than the other doesn't mean anything, heck with that logic the 'Twilight' films are masterpieces.Mae says- Is 'Frozen' the modern 'Lion King'?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Let's explore the theory of this being a new Disney Renaissance and why I believe it's dead wrong.
Firstly, let's go back
Don't go to Art School!I have not been brave enough to utter that sentence- until today. Today is the day I read THIS GREAT ARTICLE by Noah Bradley: https://medium.com/i-m-h-o/138c5efd45e9 I have been more and more bothered by us artists paying for art schools that cost as much as Ivy League law schools (or more) only to come out of said schools not able to find art jobs to pay off the mounds of debt that has left school with you! This article also mirrors my own feelings: its not about the instructors (or very rarely). They are underpaid and under appreciated. Some don't have the proper art training but have replaced that with Master's degrees, which is a pet peeve of mine as far as the costs the students are paying for that instruction. But, again, that's not the instructor's fault. They were able to get that job because only those with Master's degrees can fill those positions. They worked for that degree, so good for them. Pooh's Adventures RantI'm aware that I've already done a review of this series, but I feel that I didn't say enough of what I had to say on it. I'll also be discussing the Anti-PA's as well as members of the DA group whose accounts are dead.Pooh's Adventures Rant1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The crossovers themselves
I've already pointed out how the crossovers themselves are utterly cheap, but it goes way beyond that. The creators of these videos tend to create crack pairings (ex. ThomasXTwilight and JettaXLittle Godzilla) and crappy fan characters (ex. Molly Harper the Hedgehog). One thing that really pisses me off about the creators of these videos is that they refuse to accept criticism. Whenever anyone brings up even a sliver of advice, they're either dismissed as haters or trolls, ignored, blocked, or all three. One of them even claimed that if they tried to improve their videos then it wouldn't allow them to be happy (and that response came from a 27 year old man). It's clear that a majority of the PA league members suffer from severe mental issues. T

I had been thinking about doing something like this for a while. Outlining why I enjoy certain characters and who better to start out with than my favorite superheroine, Supergirl.
I feel slightly bad that I can't recall when I first learned of Supergirl's existence. After much thinking (and head pounding) my best guess is it was with the Superman: The Animated Series episode Little Girl Lost. Now before I was a Supergirl fan I was (still am but as I say, Kara is easier on the eyes lol) a Superman fan. I know people call him boring, a boy scout, but Superman is the archetype superhero. Personally, I like the idea of an absolute good guy hero so Supes always will be one of my favorite heroes. So as a much younger Mad Man (minus my pen though) I watched STAS and fed my growing love of the DCAU. Then we get to Little Girl Lost and I meet Supergirl.
The purpose of copyrightI've made it no secret that I've had a lot of issues with the current rules and regulations of copyright. I'll admit right now that most of my works are derivative in some way, and I'm not here to argue fair use. I will say that I find great joy in making video reviews of product, writing scripts to spoof movies, and lately combining previous images in photo manipulations. The latter of which I can't show you, mostly because many places are unclear about the license of their images and it's hard to figure out if you need a model release for a person who is really the culmination of five different people. I could post here and fight under the banner of fair use once again, but I'm not particularly interested in doing that. Instead I'm interested in talking about the purpose of copyright law.The purpose of copyright5 months ago in Personal More Like This
In purpose, copyright law is to entice creators to create more, knowing that no one else can profit on their work.
I don't need to argue the reality of how it's used. Right now, in the United States

Updates galoreFuck it, I'm sick of trying to think up ideas for 4-5 minute Doodle Toons cartoons, not just because I end up losing all motivation to continue making them, but because there's no way in hell I'm going to break my back to spend another three months just to make each cartoon. So instead, I'm going to trim them down to 1-2 minutes at the very least from now on since they'll be quicker to make and fit more into the style of what I want to do with my characters. As a matter of fact, I'm working on such a cartoon right now, so look out for that whenever it releases.Updates galore5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Also, I've put some thought into this and have decided not to give my characters voices after all. Why? Since I want my cartoons to have such a timeless old-school feel, I intend on upholding many of the golden rules of cartoons, and that includes no talking. So for those of you who oh so desperately wanted to voice these characters... sorry.
One more thing; I was thinking of starting a new animation channel since I don't want t

With that old YouTube channel behind me, I feel more focused and driven than ever! It's funny, back in 2012, I sought solace here on dA when I felt I wasn't heading in the right direction. Now, 3 years later, I've returned here to chronicle my progress towards becoming a true-blue 3D artist. Truth be told, I've always felt more at home here as opposed to YouTube.
That said, I would like to ask everyone to no longer refer to me as "MoBrosStudios" (or "MoBros," "MBS," etc) going forward. Please refer to me by my deviantART name.
In other news, October's upon us! I don't know about you guys, but I always enjoy it when Halloween season comes along. Thinking about it, I think I'm gonna make something nice and creepy for my next 3D assignment (we're being tasked with creating a "still life," which means we're going to make a picture using several different objects

I've made too many friends here. I'd like to thank ElektraStarstorm (MsDungeonX) for being my first good dA friend, and still friends present day. As said before: English is not my native language. I'm sorry for every mistake I made while writing. I'm just showing you what works for me. This is a "you can" tutorial and not "you must". I hope this gives you a basic idea on how I do it and helps you as well. I will not show you any brands of make-up I work with since they are different from country to country. I'm not a dermatologist or a professional make-up artist, so I can't give you tips for "problem skin" cases like acne and so on. Please consult a doctor and let them give you tips for what's best to use before buying something randomly
If you don't know what make-up to use out of the hilarious amount of available products in stores ask a vendor in the store of your choice. They will help you.
This tutorial will be the base for every upcoming make-up related tutorial I will post in the future.
First of all I clean my skin and apply vanishing crème. It's always good to do so

sry for being so late with updating you with my latest BIG project.
I'm working on this costume since January and finally I see the end of the long tunnel coming XD.
I wanna show you my now finished Saber Gift Figure armor!

If you like what you'll see please visit my facebook artist page as well ;D. There are always ALL progress photos form the stuff I am working on ^.^ ->>> http://facebook.com/calssara.cosplay
well let's start with the raw armor parts, completely unpainted.
I used WOBLAS FINEST ART as my material. It's a thermoplastic material with a mix out of plastic and wood. It's close to Wonderflex, but thicker, more durable and it's easier to make round shapes l shoulders, knees and chest plates. You can also melt the material together and use it as thermoplastic modeling clay!
This is my VERY first armor and even a bloody begin
First Impressions - Star Vs. The Forces of EvilI wouldn't take too much stock in what I'm writing here because Star Vs. The Forces of Evil is a show that needs to be around a bit before I can see if it becomes good or bad. And that won't be awhile. Star Vs. The Forces of Evil is an upcoming show and as Disney usually does, they play the first 22 minute segment a few months in advance to get people hyped for the show. They did with Phineas and Ferb and now they're doing it with this. I'll admit right now that I liked the first segment a LOT more than the second one, although the second one did at least meet average. But we'll get to that in a bit.First Impressions - Star Vs. Writing Tips - Cliffhangers (Don't Use 'Em)So how do you use the proverbial cliffhanger in your creative work? You don't. Ever. Seriously, don't use cliff-angers. That may seem a little blunt, but there's no trope that's abused and misused as a cliff-hanger and when done wrong (as are 95% of them) there is no trope that causes as much ire and anguish. Personally I think that there is only one scenario where you can use a cliffhanger: at the end of a chapter of a novel THAT YOU INTEND TO FINISH. Do not use a cliffhanger in a movie, even if it's Part 2 of an intended trilogy. Do not use it at the end of a television episode, unless it is a two parter and the second part has already been made and slated to air. I know it seems counter-intuitive for an informative piece on a creative medium to say that you shouldn't flat out use something, but the "cliffhanger" needs to die in all but literature, and even then it's situational. It's the creative equivalent to the lobotomy.Writing Tips - Cliffhangers (Don't Use 'Em)8 months ago in Personal More Like This

For those who have followed my gallery and characters, you might recognize this comic from awhile back. I certainly do, since it was a "push" that I haven't made good on in the way I've intended, but one that's stuck with me for all that it implies and foreshadows.
It's a bit heavy on dialogue, and weighted with a lot of ideas and emotions that may seem unusually stern and somber in comparison to the funky humor I've generally worked with. And because of all that weight crammed into a relatively short comic, and because i'm often overly critical of older works of mine, it also comes across as a little more tortured than I'd probably have done today. But I'm grateful--excited, even--that Mr. Haro chose to bring this one more to life, and here's why:
For years now, I've alluded to Bomango as a larger story, and occasionally hinted towards such things in comi

I feel incredibly lucky that on my birthday, I can finally reveal a long-awaited dream come true with all of you.
McCall's Patterns reached out to me last year to see if I would like to design some patterns for them. (Still reeling over this sentence, btw.) I had a meeting and lovely tour of their offices, and then got to work. My ideas were overflowing, but I knew exactly which patterns I wanted to design first...
We're proud to present "Yaya Han's Ultimate Bodysuit Pattern" as the first finished collaboration between McCall's Patterns and me.
It's a pattern we are sorely missing in the cosplay world - I know from having to alter and draft my own bodysuit patterns for many years. This patterns will make it easy for cosplayers (and everyone else) to tailor a bodysuit that will fit them like a glove, and use it as a base for thousands of costume ide
