Nintendo 4DSForget the 2DS! This is better! The newly announced Nintendo 4DS. Good news from Nintendo just keeps on coming! So much Nintendo goodness! Wow, like just wow. Nintendo is on fire at the moment. A tech demo showed Pokemon Xandy being played on the 4DS, when you get hit by a Squirtle the 4DS squirts water at your face, when you get hit by a Charmander the 4DS burns your finger and when you get hit by a Pikachu the 4DS electric shock your fingers. Just make sure you don't let an Electrode do a Selfdestruct on you as your whole console will explode!
Just got my hands on the 4DS it is amaaazing.
Went Undercover as a Student at a UniversitySorry for lack of updates, I have been away for a bit. But now I am back to tell more stories and upload more art. Anyway. Sometimes Ry can be a troll (Just sometimes). And I did exactly that last week actually. I pulled off a 21 Jump Street. Right, so I was in Melbourne for a convention and I also stayed longer for a few days to hang out with friends. The night before convention, my friend Alice (Who is a core member of the Japan Club) invited me to visit her University at RMIT for a Japanese movie night as part of her Japan Club's activity. At first I was a bit unsure whether I should go or not since I am not a member of the club or the Uni. But I do like to watch Japanese movies, so I went! :iconmingplz:Went Undercover as a Student at a University1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So there I was, in a room full of young fresh Uni students. One thing I noticed is that when I went into the club room, some people knew each other but many were first timers, they were all introducing themselves to each other, and I did as well. At that mome
Symbol(s) for the non Premium DeviantsHello my Ryceballs. So eversince DA's recent symbol changes, I have been hearing a lot of complaints. Mostly about how regular non premium members don't even get a symbol. It makes them feel like they are not important. Its ok I hear ya I hear ya. And you know me, I am all about the people. Ry-Spirit cares. So I thought about this a lot and try to think of an appropriate symbol that best suits our non premium friends, at the end I came up with a symbol... WELL I say a symbol but its more like a string of symbols. I feel like this is the only option for it to work. And I have used myself as an example of what the symbols would look like if I am in fact a regular deviant. Ok please look below.Symbol(s) for the non Premium Deviants2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Difference between selling Art and selling MeatGreetings Ryceballs. Today I am gonna be talking about the differences between selling art and selling meat.Difference between selling Art and selling Meat2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It is absolutely fascinating how different the two can be! :iconyoudontsayplz: ... Well first of all, an artist likes their work to be appreciated and let the audience see for themselves whether they want to buy their artwork or not. While a butcher (ESPECIALLY ASIAN ONES LIKE THE ONE IN THE ARTWORK) only cares about selling the meat and making the profit, they have no sentimental feelings towards what they are selling, because if they do then there won't be any meat to sell right? One of the main rule of a butcher is to have no emotional attachment towards the animals, because they know sooner or later the animal needs to be chopped up. Well what about artists? Well they put their blood, sweat and tears into their artwork to make it as pretty as possible, all in hopes that the audiences would enjoy their art as much as the artist enjoy making them. NOW here's the thing thoug
Don't go to Art School!I have not been brave enough to utter that sentence- until today. Today is the day I read THIS GREAT ARTICLE by Noah Bradley: https://medium.com/i-m-h-o/138c5efd45e9 I have been more and more bothered by us artists paying for art schools that cost as much as Ivy League law schools (or more) only to come out of said schools not able to find art jobs to pay off the mounds of debt that has left school with you! This article also mirrors my own feelings: its not about the instructors (or very rarely). They are underpaid and under appreciated. Some don't have the proper art training but have replaced that with Master's degrees, which is a pet peeve of mine as far as the costs the students are paying for that instruction. But, again, that's not the instructor's fault. They were able to get that job because only those with Master's degrees can fill those positions. They worked for that degree, so good for them. FML. The Super Mario Galaxy StoryYou guys like story yeah? Let uncle Ry tell you a story, there's a lesson to learn here kids. Pay attention. I wanna talk about this now because last week was my birthday and it reminded me of this story, its related to a birthday gift. The gift was Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. This story happened a few years ago.FML. The Super Mario Galaxy Story2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is a picture of me playing the Nintendo Wii, I love my Wii. Had lots of great times on it playing games like Smash Brothers and Mario Kart and Twilight Princess, and a game I really loved called Super Mario Galaxy. The story takes place around 2009? A couple of years after the Wii came out. So one day a friend of mine Matt messaged me telling me he got a Wii, I thought great, about time he got a Wii. So I congratulated him, then he asked the question. :I He asked whether he can borrow some games and I was like 'HMMMMMMMM SHIT'. Well Matt is a nice guy, pretty honest and pretty generous. I usually am pretty generous too but when it comes to games, I hate lending it out
So.. about this Ry X fellaHave you ever felt like someone is trying to steal your identity? Well, I always knew there's another Ry out there. I always try to ignore him and hope that one day he will simply disappear making me the only Ry on earth, there's only room for one Ry and I would very much like it to be me. 1.GOTA BE A FAN BEFORE DOING FAN ART FOR SOMETHING
Yup, I have not seen One Piece or Bleach so I will not do fan art for them, Im sure they are great anime as people has told me, but I just haven't gotten around to watch it thats all. So yes for me, I gota be a fan before doing fan art for something. Otherwise it kinda takes away wat the true meaning of what fan art is right? But yes I do know some people who draws fan art of whats popular rather than what they like, I remember one time I was walking in the artist alley and saw an artist who did an artwork of a fandom that I like, so I spoke to them about the series and realised the person has not played the game or know anything about it, but just drew it because
Found my Japanese friend missing for 10 yearsOk, Ryght, so, around 10 years ago I had a Japanese friend back in High School. He was over as an exchange student for a few months. When he arRyved, we anime lovers kinda heard the news and wanted to check him out.. cos me and my friends were kinda obsessed with Japanese stuff. Somtimes we would even speak gibberish Japanese to be more cool. So anyway I heard about this Japanese fella called Tomoo, he was a year below us and I really wanted to meet him but had no idea how... I have never made friends with a Japanese person before and was kinda nervous, so I just kinda brushed it off. Then one day.. my friend Ming somehow made friends with him and introduced Tomoo to me. I was shaking.. I was sweating.. I didn't know whether I should shake his hands or high 5 or hug or what... At the end I chose to bow, well thats what Japanese do right? So I bowed, I remember bowing and felt stupid after. IreallyhadnoideahowtogreetpeopleandIstilldon't. Seek and you shall findHiya Ryceballs, oh my god what an insane couple of days. I don't even know where to start I really don't, it has to do with papa Ry, my dad. It has been an emotional roller coaster for him and this whole event is kinda like a joke now when I think back on it. OK long story short, he was afraid he's gonna be jobless, pretty much he left his old job to work in a 'better' job only to find out that this better job has an even more unreasonable boss bla bla bla I don't wanna get into full details for his privacy's sake. So now he wants to quit this current job and go back to his old job and im like 'ARE YOU FREAKIN JOKING ME?! YOU JUST LEFT! AND NOW U WANNA GO BACK?!' Like how embarrassing would that be right? But he says he has no other options and no other jobs out there, so I told him to look for jobs online and he's like 'Oh nah it won't make a difference'. :I This is coming from a man who doesn't know how to turn off an ipad. No I didn't lose weight, ok you may notice that the * sign is now replaced by a ^ sign. Ok what does that mean? It means I'm now officially a Community Volunteer of Deviantart! In particular the Fan Art section. Ok so what does THAT mean? It means I'll be one of the guys who features Daily Deviation of amazing artworks. And yes I will be writing my DD guideline later in the day, I've only been a Volunteer for half a day and I didn't even announce it until now, but somehow people are already sending me Daily Deviation suggestions. Well I gota say I have already made my first DD feature... that mysterious person will receive the news tomorrow hehe. I will also be helping out in the community a bit more now in whatever they need. Tales of the N64Hello Ryceballs, its been a long time since I actually drew something or written something for Deviantart, mostly because of travelling to conventions and work, if you haven't guessed it by now I actually draw for a living. BUT IM BACK FOR A BIT NOW, with more stories to entertain you delicious people! This is a picture of me when I was playing the N64 back in the day. So why do I wanna talk about the 64 out of all the consoles? Well mostly because I have been trashing Nintendo so much lately about their decisions in the gaming industry that I thought I should talk about something more positive about Nintendo when they were at their prime. ALSO because I have so many good memories with this console! Without further ado, THIS is how it all began.. it started with my dad coming home from work one day and showing me a newspaper article with a competition on it, it was sponsored by Toyota and i

A GoodbyeIt’s hard for me to fully realize that we founded PMD-E over two years ago. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long at all! I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun.A Goodbye2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This place has changed quite a bit since it began! Take a look at the first couple of missions and events and compare them to the current ones. It’s almost an entirely different being now! Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is completely up to you guys, but I personally think it was good.
Running PMD-E has taught Mel and I a lot about a great deal of things, and although it was fun, we’ve learned some hard lessons during the course of this group. We’ve learned that while you may have a really good friend that you enjoy talking to a lot, they may just be really bad at helping you run large projects. Or maybe their ideas aren’t very workable with your own ideas. Or maybe they can’t handle responsibility in the slightest.
This doesn’t mean they ca

World War 3 may just be months away, with much of the middle east currently being blown apart by missiles and the locals setting their neighbours on fire, but the real news is that the Twinkie, the USA's primary contribution to world cuisine, could cease to be.
"You eat those?" I hear people ask. Hell no. Never eaten one in my life. There's something about their unnatural, chemical-yellow colour and that they have a half-life rather than a use-by date that just sets off one too many alarm-bells.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you read the print on the pack, you'll find asbestos to be a key ingredient.
Even John McClane can't keep one down, and he took out a building full of terrorists with nothing but his bare feet and a Santa hat.
Which leads to my point: Without the Twinkie, there are SO many lines from SO many classic movies that future generations just a

Hello Poke-fans, and welcome new members!
The staff has reached a verdict on 'A Different Type of Pokemon'! We got so many clever entries for this contest and it was hard to pick, so please check out all of the entries here: http://poke-fanclub.deviantart.com/gallery/37229275 There are many more that deserve recognition!
But for now, onto the winners...
While it's easy to merely change a Pokemon's colors and trade its elemental markers for another's, this design creatively works Milotic's traits into a new, but still recognizable identity. A very smart design overall!
As with the 3rd place entry, the trading of a natural-looking flying type into a natural-looking water-dwelling creature is impressive, and comparing Ho-Oh to a lion fish is absolutely inspired. We all felt this was a very creative take on bot

It doesn't feel that long - but in a few more years I'll have been on this site for half my life. Sheesh!
I've improved so much having an audience to show work to, even if the point of the work wasn't an audience - just having a platform from which I could do anything at all has been really amazing for me over the years.
And then... PMD-e... which has been a really tremendous learning experience for me (and others!), in so many ways. I don't want to turn this journal sappy or anything, but I've been lucky to have met so many people and have gotten the chance to help create a community with its ups and downs.
And... speaking of such...
I'll be making a journal later about the state of PMD-e right now - I know the updates have been sporadic, and this has been for a few reasons. I've been thinking about how to word things for a few days now, and I don't think I've quite gotten it yet.
Anyway, for those of you who've been around since
talent follow upso after a great many debates, here is what i am seeing.talent follow up2 years ago in Personal More Like This
there are 4 types of people responding.
1. the hard working artist agrees, they understand the time they have put into it, and in turn they are seeing the improvement they desire. they study the right things, like life, to understand how things work. they fight being completely self indulgent 100% of the time so they can better learn the skills they need.
2. the casual artist who doesnt really agree because they see somebody better, they are happy with what they can do and know they can be better, but they compare themselves to others too often.
3. the lazy fuck that thinks they must not be talented because they dont put in much time. and since they are so frustrated with seeing how great others are, they must not be talented while the other person is.
4. the people who see some little kid copy a drawing and imagine that they must be some kind of naturally born incredible artist. most of these people arent much beyond a part time
