Break those bad habits in PhotoshopWe all know that Photoshop can offer endless methods to accomplish the same task, being an extremely versatile application. The workflow is different from one person to another, but which technique is the best for the task at hand? That can be difficult to understand for users who just started to use Photoshop and are trying to improve but they do not know what to choose when there are so many ways of producing the same effect.Break those bad habits in Photoshop2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Working on a single layer
First things first, no matter what you want to do in Photoshop it is always best to work on separate layers, leaving the background layer alone. This allows you to go back later and make changes to the layers you made. You don't like the color balance you modified back then? Don't worry, you have the flexibility of removing the layer or making changes to it so that it works with your concept and idea.
This is what they call a non-destructive workfl

The Hobbit: An Unexpected JourneySaw The Hobbit last night. It was very good... if a bit long. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for seeing all the little details interconnecting The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings and all that, but for the average watcher... eh... it kinda dragged. I overheard several people saying they fell asleep during the film, and I noticed more than once a number of people fidgeting and looking at their watches. Still, it's a damn fine movie and It's a shame we have to wait so long for the next two films. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Having The Hobbit being written during the beginning of Lord of the Rings is pretty smart. You could effectively watch the 3 Hobbit movies and then immediately move right into the 3 Lord of the Rings movies. Kudos to Jackson for that, it'll be great to marathon run the two trilogies back to back.
This movie was, like the book, much lighter and funnier than The Lord of the Rings and I was surprised at how much from the books they actually kept. They

Waterdrop Howto / Tutorial v1 - written by h3.
hello all, i hope this helps a bit.
The Main Concept
Be sure that you understood the main concept of waterphotos like i do :
One drop won´t bring you quite far.
What you want are 2 (3,..) drops, while the 2nd drop is meant to land exactly on the column created by the first drop. I havent done lots of photos with more than 2 drops so far because im still havin trouble to get a high strike rate on my 2-drop-photos.
Using 3 or more drops is a challenge for real experts.
this Slow Motion video (sent to me by :iconrelhom will give you a clue on the main concept if you havent understood it yet.
But how do i perfectly place these 2 drops ?
1) Manually -------------------
everyone usually starts manually. First thing most people do when the shoot water their first time is using the kitchen sink.
I did that, too, but after about 1 or 2 seri
Can't sleepSeems like a habit these days. Four hours of sleep is the most I can hope for. *sigh* I guess that's what happens sometimes when all you live on is coffee and nicotine... :iconsmokeplz: Whatever. Can't sleep2 years ago in Personal More Like This
:iconsteinboredplz: I don't know about any of you (I'll just stand on my soap box for a minute here) but when someone finds me cold hearted because I view my own stressors and my physical and mental responses to them as scientifically interesting, it kind of makes me feel sorry for them. Some people take their own troubles too seriously, and it ties them up in knots; me, I see them like they are. I know I have some irrational thought patterns about certain things, but even though I know they're irrational, I do them anyway, which I find fascinating about myself. Yes, some people think it's weird that I'm one of my own test subjects, but haven't you ever wanted to figure out the way your own psyche works so that you can estimate roughly what your reaction would be to certain things, should you
Big announcement and updates! So I figured it was about time I finally announced this... I'm pregnant! Our little girl is due in October!Big announcement and updates!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Matty and I are so excited to finally be starting a family! As you can imagine, this little critter in my belly has been giving me a lot of grief! Remember when I disappeared for a couple months back in February? Morning sickness. Awful, horrible, debilitating morning sickness. It should really be called all-day sickness. It completely flattened me for a while, then I magically felt back to normal one day and got a ton done for a while, but over the past month I've developed a variety of classic pregnancy ailments that have progressively worsened. My feet (and hands! Wut?) have started swelling and get sore for no apparent reason. My back hurts like hell by the end of the day. But the really big one is the rib pain. I have a short torso so this kid is smashing all my organs up into my freakin rib cage! It's gotten to the point where it is just excruciat

Beautiful Photography ++Think Photography is easy as a pie?Beautiful Photography ++2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll tell you what. Photography is the sum of a good amount of virtues. It is talent and inspiration. Creativity and imagination. Commitment and devotion. Patience and attention. Skill and technique. Team spirit and concentration. Art knowledge and innovation. Also, it requires a whole lotta time. And the list may go further and further.
So before you start judging the others' works, think. Don't go throwing sour remarks. Try to be a little sweet and understanding. And if you don't have anything nice to say, just move on. Find what you like and let others do what they like.
To every photographer who recognizes the need of all above, and never stops learning in the pursuit of those virtues, don't forget to Always protect what is yours. And don't you let anyone underestimate you. For I'm sure you put your mind, and body, AND soul in every single photograph you take.

Well, I thought 18 would be a messed up age. But I guess I was so, so wrong. It seems that the more I grow, the more I get younger. And that is a heck of a good feeling.
Cheers to new dreams, new hopes and new adventures! Thank you for all your comforting words throughout the year. See you at 19!

Ten Tips for Nature PhotographersThis article came about after a deviant specifically requested that we write ten clear, simple tips for Photographing Nature. Troubleshooting articles and information can be very useful, but sometimes breaking it down into manageable memorable chunks is so much easier. So without further ado please enjoy our Ten Tips for Nature Photographers!Ten Tips for Nature Photographers2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1) Get into your environment
Yes, it's rhubarb. To be a true photographer, you must be at one with rhubarb.
When we talk about photographing Nature, we don't necessarily mean wide expansive rolling landscapes. Whilst they contain any number of elements that are nature focused and made up from natural resources - Nature Photography is about getting into your environment and getting up close and personal with these elements. So think of it like you are Photographing the components that make up that beautiful lan

A Little Fursuit Cost PerspectiveWHY OUR COSTUMES ARE "EXPENSIVE"A Little Fursuit Cost Perspective2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I posted this info over on Tumblr, and thought others might find it interesting!
Someone just sent me a note that read:
"Seeing all the materials you guys use for your fursuits, I can really see why they're so pricey. "
Thanks for noticing! We are asked to justify our prices pretty often, or even accused of charging too much, but I think a lot of people just do not realize that there is A LOT of expense (and not just in materials), and a TON of time that goes into making each suit. And sure, lots of people plug in features to our price calculator and come out with a $3000-$7000 figure, and must be imagining us sitting around in bathtubs full of cash. Truth is, we don't make a whole lot of profit - where does it all go?
First, consumable materials. These are items that need to be bought new for each and every suit because they get completely used up in the process. This includes casting resins, sheet plastics, foam, polyfill, paint, elastic

This group is unique in that they only accept original art and stories, so it isn't jammed with gobs of manga, MLP and Lion King fan art ( not that it isn't wonderful too! )
I had kinda forgotten about it, but I think this group really deserves more attention!
Yeah, I forgot how to post images again. I'll figure it out later. I'm late for work.
