I'm back with writing my journal tutorials for Photoshop. I didn't post any new journal tutorial in a while Now I also edited journal skin, so it'll be more appropriate for "Photoshop tips" Anyway, my previous tutorial you can check here. I'll describe some Photoshop basics for everyone who try to learn to use Photoshop. So in this article you'll find tutorials: Making selections, Customizing brush, Bevel & Emboss, Stroke. In this tutorial I used my painting Came From Hell, just to show you few things.
If you wish to see images in full resolution then simply click on the images below (they are big as my screen 1920 x 1080 px... OK I cropped bar below ). I used Photoshop CS6 here, so some things may be differ
Best video resources for digital artistsLearning the theory without any practice is incredibly pointless when it comes to art. No book, no lecture and no video will ever teach you how to paint if you won't find the time for creating something yourself.Best video resources for digital artists1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
On the other hand, doing everything alone and without any instructions is the longest and hardest way of achieving anything. What's worse it doesn't guarantee you success.
Through the last couple of years I've been painting, I've learned that the best way for me to learn to paint is to copy techniques of people who know what they're doing. There's no better way doing it than watching videos with commentaries. That's why today I thought I'd share with you some great lectures, tutorials and demos I've found on youtube. Below you'll find a list of the best YT channels and samples of videos. Go and subscribe for more great vids!

Songwriting: The BasicsSongwriting: The BasicsSongwriting: The Basics1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Because there is no way to submit audio files to deviantArt, songwriting and composing are art forms that are somewhat left out on dA. However, since there is a category for songs and lyrics, the art of creating songs has not been completely overlooked. In this article, I will cover the basics of songwriting, such as the elements of a song, hooks, and song structure, as well as share my own writing process. I’ve also included a feature of my favourite musical pieces on dA.
Elements of a Song
According to most books about songwriting, a song is made up of three things: the melody, the harmony, and the rhythm. If we are talking about popular genres, such as rock, pop, or country, I also like to include the lyrics as part of the elements.
If we consider a pop song (or a song in another non-instrumental genre), the melody would be what the person is singing. When you are humming along, you are singing the melody. The harmony,

NaNo is Around the CornerOnce again, we find ourselves getting ready for the insanity that is NaNoWriMo. If you've never heard of it, NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. That means in the span of thirty days, participants will write 50,000 words.NaNo is Around the Corner1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This
1,667 words per day if they're writing every day.
2,273 words per day if they're only writing on weekdays.
6,250 words per day if they're only writing on weekends.
Either way it's a pretty hefty feat, and not something to walk into unprepared. Even if you're a "by the seat of your pants" type of writer.
Which is where planning and plotting come in. Sure, if you're a pantser, you can sit down and bang out a couple chapters, maybe a whole book, but can you do it in a month? Probably not. At least not without a little bit of preparation. For all the pantsers and everyone else, compiled here is a short list of things to keep in mind, ways to prepare, what no

How to: Margin + PaddingFor this tutorial series I am explaining different elements you can create or modify with the help of CSS. The level of experience that is needed to be able to understand the tutorials can differ and will be in no order. How to: Margin + Padding2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
However I will try to explain the things as simple as possible. Upcoming questions should be left in a comment directly to this blog so that people with similar problems can look them up later as well.
The tutorial series is based on the gruze-structure of journals. If you are still using the old structure or have a journal installed that used it, things won’t work the same way like explained below.
For simple skins the old structure is fine, but the more features you add, the more I would recommend using the gruze-structure. You can look up the differences here: http://ginkgografix.deviantart.com/art/Old-vs-Gruze-Journals-112772369
It seems like a lot of people are struggling with the usage of margin and padding. In the end it doesn’t matter ho
Lazy Nezumi stroke smoothing for Photoshop.Hey everyone, just wanted to bring to your attention a plugin that might be useful for you. It's called Lazy Nezumi, and its main function is to help smooth your strokes out when you're drawing. So, if you want really tight, smooth lineart, or just clean lines in general it's pretty great. In a way, it lets you create a digital stroke closer to how you would on paper or a canvas, it just gives you more control. It's akin to the Lazy Mouse feature in Zbrush, or the Steady Stroke feature in Sketchbook Pro (which I'd highly recommend for anyone doing lineart, it has other great features as well).Lazy Nezumi stroke smoothing for Photoshop.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
There's a free demo for 30 days you can try out first and see if you like it. It has other features as well, but the one I find the most useful is the "pulled string" method under position processing, when you click details. It's something you might have to try to understand, but it can be super useful.
The main issue I see is that

So you want to do requests?A basic guide to taking and making requestsSo you want to do requests?3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Just like when taking commissions, requests also require a bit if organizing. And I hope that in this article I'll be able to help answer a couple of questions regarding requests.
Previous article: "So you want to do commissions?"
If you find the article informative, please it.
First things first
If you're reading this article, you're probably thinking of opening up requests. Whether it is to improve your art, or to have some samples ready to move on to commissions: various people take requests for various reasons. Just take a gander through the Projects-forum and you'll see just how many there are.
Just like with commissions, it's important you decide what you'll be taking requests for. And whatever your choice or reason, be prepared for a lot of people to find their way to your page

JACK FROST IS REAL!!!Okay, so I know this might be really weird and kind of childish for some people but I think he is! Here's the story why I suddenly have this conclusion. The other night I was talking to my sister who loves rise of the guardians, she told me that one night as she was checking her deviant art that one of her friends had said something that she had found interesting. Her friend said that she had another friend that loved the ROTG version of Jack Frost. So just to make her happy she went outside and said " Jack Frost if you are real put some frost on the ground tomarrow." And the next day there was. So then, my sister said that she had done the same thing only "Jack Frost if you are real put some frost on my window." The next day there was. Plus she had checked all of the windows in our house twice and there had only been frost on HER WINDOW!! So I found this pretty intersting, that night, I said "Jack Frost if you are real, give me a sign that you are real also let me see you in my dreamsJACK FROST IS REAL!!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
