Just finished the game (& yes I played the original version as well). I'm not the biggest Wonderland fan, but the game itself, although morbid, was beautiful and a lot of fun. I was debating which dress to draw her in, since she has a whole wardrobe! Alas the Siren dress was my favorite. Enjoy!
American McGee Alice has been one of those costumes I've been meaning to make for over a year. When the opportunity finally arose to make her I jumped at the chance. To make it uniquly mine, I added butterflies up the side of the dress and gored up a baby doll.
This was one of those super quick costumes that I made in one night. The blue is a wool suiting and the white and denim. The costume is lined in satin. The top was patterned out using a muslin mock-up. The skirt is just a circle skirt, with a small petticoat underneath. To prevent the apron form moving around, I made the bib (top part) sewn into the dress. The lower part of the apron is also sew into the dress at the wait seam. The only thing that isn't sewn in that is apart of the bow is the tie and bow. To get the sleeves poofy I interfaced them and then stuffed them with netting. The bow is also made plump using the same techniques. I wasn't able to sculpt and cast an accurate skull for the bow, so I purchased a cheap plastic one, cut it in half and glued it to the dress. To create the blood splatter, I mixed red and brown acrylic paints, watered it down and then splatted and dripped with a paint brush. The symbols on the pockets are heat and bonded black fabric. Boots were alter by having the straps and buckles added to them. I sewed the straps down onto the boot so the wouldn't get out of place. Stockings and necklace were purchased. Wig is from Internationalwigs.com.
This was a collaboration between ~Iceman-props and myself. He did the blade etching technique I did the handle. The blade is made of MDF and the handle is a dowel rod. The dowel rod was given shape with clay, and then the details were done with dimension paint from Tulip Paint. It was then painted in base colors and then given a wash in black and brown acrylic paints. Rub and Buff was used as a high light on the handle. Like the dress the blood the blade is down with watered down acrylics. -------
