Common Misconceptions: Digital ArtCommon Misconceptions: Digital ArtCommon Misconceptions: Digital Art3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Hello everyone! This is the second installment of the series of “common misconceptions” surrounding different areas in art. This blog will cover the most prevalent myths that surround the medium of digital art. (it's chock full of super sweet images, check out the wonderful artists!)
Digital Art requires less skill than Traditional art
This is probably the top ranking myth. There is no “shortcut” when it comes to making good quality art period. It is not any easier to paint a beautiful image on a computer than it is with a brush and canvas. Most people who make that argument don’t really have any personal experience with creative software or they chalk up digital art as simple drawings in MS Paint.
Digtial Art requires less practice, anyone can do it
Like any skill out there, digital art needs the same amount of practice as you would need with a pen and paper. A

Painted Portrait interviews aim to give the community more insight into talented traditional artists and how they came to be successful with their art. Today we are interviewing koyamori.Painted Portrait Interview with koyamori2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Thank you for allowing me to interview you, let's start off by having you introduce yourself.
My name is Cynthia, and I mainly use koyamori or maruti-bitamin for online handles.
I live in Toronto and have studied psychology and biology, and am currently attending college for graphic design.
What inspires your illustrations?
Childhood nostalgia and exploration of the unknown are some dominant themes that are great inspirations.
What are your favorite medias to work with and why do you liek them?
My favourite medium for some time is a mix of watercolours and inks.
The Three problems with how we learn art: pt.3I've been thinking about how and why we learn to draw for a few years now. I started self-analazing my own drawing and character design thought process when I began writing my first art instruction book, "Creating Characters with Personality". It was harder than I thought to verbalize how I've learned and how I process drawing. This has led me to start looking back at my artistic life and how I learned art. What made me learn the most? What drove me to draw and stick with it? What led to others I knew as a child to stop drawing? I think I'm ready to present some of those thoughts here on DA and hear what you think. This is part 2 of three in a series. I'm not sure where this is leading, but step one is my establishing an online art instruction school called Taught ByA PRO (http://www.taughtbyapro.com) that will (in phase one) concenThe Three problems with how we learn art: pt.32 years ago in Personal More Like This

As you might know already, my programmer for my pokemon MMO disapeared a while ago. This means that MAO has sadly come to an end. I'm still improving my tiles, and making sprites, in the hope that it might not go to waste but for now I'm starting to do other things. I still email my programmer every now and then so maybe one day he'll reply? I still believe we made the most progress on a pokemon massive multiplayer online game, and probably for a while. It wasn't just a screenshot game, everything was working in-game.
Instead of just letting it end, I thought I would reveal the story, and some of my conceps and features in it.
Also, the game wasn't gonna have the word "pokemon" or "pokeballs" but I've just edited this to say pokemon now instead.

Do I need a special program?
No! Something as simple as Microsoft Paint, Paint Shop Pro or the Gimp, all of which are free, are all you need to start with pixel art. Well, that and a mouse/touchpad (and a computer ). Photoshop can be used to pixel as well, but it is costly, so unless you plan to use Photoshop for a multitude of digital media, it isn't the best investment for pixel art.
Free downloads of MS Paint and Paint Shop Pro can be found here: http://www.bunnystick.com/tdlc.html
What are some useful Pixel techniques?

Romano X Reader~linger of tomato~pt 6,SPECIAL~!THIS IS A LEMON, DON'T LIKE, DON'T READ!!!! Romano drew back a bit, flushing. You weren't embarrassed at ALL?! Damn, you were good. But he had to try. "EEEP!", you squeaked in surprise as he suddenly grabbed your shirt, & in one swift move, lifted it over your arms. His eyes widened, your chest was....well, HUGE. It was hardly covered by your lacey trimmed bra. You looked at your chest, & then looked again at Romano. He looked ready to faint, & he was bright red. Hesitantly, he leaned in, & stroked your face, a tender expression on his face. He kissed you gently, holding both sides of your face. He closed his eyes & deepened the kiss. Then, he opened them again in surpriseRomano X Reader~linger of tomato~pt 6,SPECIAL~!2 years ago in Personal More Like This

I spent the first few hours of my new year with literature and Pokemon X. We'll get to the literature later. Right now, I've been enjoying the latest entry in the Pokemon franchise. I don't know if I've gotten better, or the games have gotten easier, but I'm not having as much trouble catching the stupid things as I used to. Then again, it sure is nice of the developers to put someone near the beginning that gives you False Swipe
I've heard from Doc that he has to wear a brace on his arm for another month before he can start therapy. He is getting better, but it's slow going. Nothing I can do about it, though I'd least like to help keep him entertained while he's incapacitated. Hence a basket full of movies and stuff.
Last time we talked, I spent most of the conversation explaining dA to him Among some other Internet stuff. I'll probably end up linking this feature to him; I told him what I was working on and he was interested and that c
Art"My art isn't good" Do you know how many times I hear that line? Alot. And let me tell you it is starting to get really annoying. It's more on the fact what even is 'good enough'? There isn't any real line between good and bad, theres just art. If you really want your art to be good, and you really want your art to be up there. Instead of saying its not good enough just work more on it. We all started with drawing a shit ass stick figure, we all started on the same level. What you do with it is up to you. If you want to get better, go for it. If you want to sit there in the dirt saying it's not good, go for it. Just know all that time you spend in that dirt is the time you can be spending to working onto doing better.Art1 year ago in Personal More Like This

EDIT: I'm getting through these prayer requests one by one... I'm going to respond to all of them, so don't worry. I just really want to pay a lot of attention to each of these. So I'm really sorry if this is taking a long time!!
I saw a couple journals [Blairaptor and lupisvulpes] and what other great way to spread the Word than to take prayer requests? ^.^ There is so much more I could be doing to show God's love over the internet... this is just a really great start, and I really felt I needed to do this too.
So if you need me to pray for you, or your family, or anyone you know or anyone you DON'T know for that matter I will pray for it.
You don't even have to believe in God for me to pray for you, because what's the point of only praying for the people that do? That isn't spreadi
