WARNING: FOUL LANGUAGE AND CURSING
Fuck you, YouTube. I don’t want to use a Google Plus Account because Google Plus is bullshit and I the ONLY reason I got it is because you MADE me get it. Every time I log into YouTube you automatically switch me from my TomPreston6 account name to a Google Plus name I DON’T USE and I am greeted every time with the “you have no subscriptions” warning. FUCK YOU. I HAVE SUBSCRIPTIONS. THEY ARE IN MY TOMPRESTON NAME! I DON’T USE GOOGLE PLUS!
Seriously, this has gotten SO frustrating lately (literally every single day it’s done this) that I am seriously considering quitting YouTube ENTIRELY. That’s BAD MANAGEMENT Goo
Duped.Fake CommissionDuped.3 weeks ago in Personal More Like This
Recently I found out that one of the commissions I undertook a while back was, in fact, a setup. It was hired by forum members of Encyclopedia Dramatica, one of whom I actually use to talk to and have good discussions with. They pooled their resources to pay for it, sent me the info and money, and then proceeded to sit back and document everything I did or didn’t do per their highly specific criterias. The user in question then posting a lengthy take-down (though through a disclaimer on the top of the journal it’s clearly not a takedown! lulz!) here on DA.
Here is the commission:
The journal in question talks at great length about my seemingly lack of transparency. IE: that I don’t communicate every little facet of what I’m doing to them, such as the number of commissions I have, what my “job” is, what my home schedule is like, etc. And honestly? This is WHY I’m not transpar

Ya see, It’s always surprises me when someone says that I’m becoming too preachy, when in fact I’ve been preachy from the beginning. Don’t believe me? Take a look below!
This is not a complete list by any stretch of the imagination, but these are essentially THE MOST controversial comics and illustrations I’ve ever done in the past 10 years.

Colorists: Having Difficulty Finding A Skintone? This happens to me all the time.Colorists: Having Difficulty Finding A Skintone?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I'm starting out an image, and for the life of me, I just cannot determine what color I should use for the skintone. I wish I had a crystal ball that would show me thirty minutes into the future so I can see just how a character will look after applying all the necessary shading, anatomical detailing, and highlights based upon the base color I use. A lot of times, it'll appear too faint, too desaturated, or on the flip side, way too bold and gleaming like a bronzed deity caked in a thick lathering of walrus grease.
Which is delicious, by the way.
FORTUNATELY! The folks at The Humanae Tumblr seemed to have a crystal ball of their own. Not so much one that shows the final product of my work, but one that certainly told them of my many incredibly frustrating endeavors into spending a good chunk of time shading a character's skin only to realize the base tone was absolute g
The E.T. Cartridge Landfill has been foundIn the early 1980’s the American video game industry bombed so spectacularly, that it was rumored Atari just dumped their unsold copies of E.T. in a landfill in the New Mexico desert. It’s been a longstanding folk tale of the modern video game industry. And now it’s been proven true. The E.T. Cartridge Landfill has been found2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Microsoft (of all companies) teamed up with a documentary filmmaker to go and explore the desert in the hopes of uncovering this legendary landfill of shitty games. And it looks like they were successful. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/134045-E-T-Cartridges-Found-in-New-Mexico-Landfill-After-30-Years
As cool as this is... I can’t help but feel a little... disappointed. And more or less it’s because the hard working Angry Video Game Nerd left his post of doing regular updates to start filming an actual feature film with the plot being uncovering the mystery around the legendary E.T. landfill. The AVGN uprooted his home life, moved to California for a year, hired acto

In Venomoid, paranormal creatures are governed by the IPO, a secret police force that ensures vampires, zombies, and others follow all required public safety regulations. Among the officers is seventeen-year-old Lorin, the IPO's most skilled cadet. His co-workers distrust him, however, and in extreme cases barely tolerate him. As a vampire, he must follow the rules--including turning a blind eye to the IPO's practice of torturing prisoners--or face deat
Flash Appreciation RantIt's almost difficult to remember but when I was in college (in the early 2000's) Flash wasn't really a "thing" the way it is now. At the time, flash was primarily used as a cheap form of animation for web content. Used primarily for grosstastic sick viral things like "frog in a blender." In my college, Flash was highly despised. All my professors hated it and felt it "cheapened" real hand-drawn animation. And their hatred passed on to us students. We all despised Flash too. We kept seeing Flash popping up in mainstream animation circles and we laughed and joked about how shitty it was and how we'd never be caught dead using it.Flash Appreciation Rant10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Then the whole world changed before our eyes. Flash has become one of THE most used animation programs for cartoons on television these days. It's friggin' EVERYWHERE. The likelyhood of a new 2D animated TV show being made without Flash (or a Flash based program) is highly unlikely these days.
I really wish that I could go back and slap my co

I'm really growing tired of the gaming industry and gamers in general. Am I the only one who sees a paradox in gamers wanting and demanding that gaming be taken seriously as a media, while demanding that the very people (journalists) who are actually critical and deliberately ARE trying to take gaming seriously to toe the line and praise the shit out of every game and give them all 10 stars out of 10 or else?
Most recently The Escapist gave GTA5 a 3.5 out of 4 stars and the internet freaked out because it wasn't a perfect score. Before that Polygon got heat for giving Dragon's Crown a 6.5 out of 10. And before that both Polygon and NowGamer got heat for giving The Last of Us a 7.5 and a 8.5 out of 10. Gamers freak out because they want EVERY journalist to give EVERY game a perfect 10, especially those they've already determined will be amazing games (like GTA5). But at the same time they bitch and moan if a game comes under any sor

"I've seen quite a few cases of art theft recently (involving both my work and other's), and I think it's about time I help out somehow.
So I made this small guide to dealing with art theft. If your art/your friend's art has been stolen, follow this guide and you'll settle matters quickly and easily.
Important point to consider
NEVER comment on the stolen artwork or the userpage of the art thief. More often than not, people comment saying things that are as harsh as possible and are completely inappropriate. Yes, 9 times out of 10 the "artist" is just a troll messing with people, but if you don't watch what you comment, you CAN be warned/reported for harassment. Keep that in mind.
The exception to this rule is if the stolen art is being sold somehow, of which a comment will discourage people from buy

Let's accelerate a little bit, and assume that now you're in the business and have a pretty good groove going. While the core principles are still paramount to anything else, here are some quick one-shot tidbits of information that will assuredly save your bacon.
Back up everything, including the backups.
When working digitally, it's so easy to accidentally delete something off your hard drive and be unable to get it back. I've done this a few times myself. Even had entire hard drives fail on me. But it has been a very, very long time since the last time I had to redo an image from the start. Sure, I've had crashes that put me back an hour, I've merged layers together in a manner that ruins my work flow and makes the file unusable. But fixing these issues isn't nearly as painful
Scatterbrained Journal Post + RecommendationsI just got back from a trip and I’ve had a lot of things on my mind that I wanted to talk about but couldn’t due to an absence of keyboards (sorry iPhone, your keyboard and hilarious auto-correcting makes long-winded journals too difficult to do on the road). I live in America and a lot of times I come under fire for my political beliefs not because they’re really controversial, but because they conflict with another countries political history. So I wanted to just reiterate that I am an American. I talk about American problems. You can frame pretty much every sentence I write with the addition of “...in America.” While I try to keep a level head about world politics I am not, and should not, be used as a credible source of information regarding politics or even history of o

Potentially Unpopular Musings Junk DrawerI’ve been saving up a bunch of topics I wanted to talk about, but for some reason haven’t been able to stretch out into full journal discussions. So I’m just gonna lump them all together here in one big “junk drawer” journal to get them out. I’d like to think that these aren’t “unpopular ideas” at all, and just common sense. But as I’ve learned about the internet just believing that women are people is considered a “controversial opinion” so... I’m just gonna lump these all under the idea of “potentially unpopular musings.”Potentially Unpopular Musings Junk Drawer3 days ago in Personal More Like This
Being 100% Objective is Impossible
If there’s one myth I wish I could dispel, it’s that criticism is suppose to be devoid of bias in favor of being objective. While this is a nice sort of unobtainable Buddhist enlightenment concept... it’s just not technically or realistically possible. Everything around us affects our mood, disposition, opi

Console Generation RantThis generation of video game consoles has been completely off my radar. Even my fanboy lust of all things Nintendo can’t make me save up enough money to buy a Wii-U. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve become jaded over the last console war, or if I’m just moving on away from consoles into other avenues of gaming (ie: PC gaming), but something about this generation just defies interest for me.Console Generation Rant8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Some of it is just head inducing nonsense like this: http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/8/5080750/xbox-one-day-one-patch-required-to-play-games The Xbox One requiring a day one patch TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES. I mean, when the Ps3 launched it required a day one patch to play Blu-Ray movies, that’s not so bad though since you could still play games. But the Xbox One comes out and you literally can’t do anything with it if you don’t have an internet connection. For how much you paid for that device that’s pretty shitty.
And all the consoles are doing crap
QuantificationQuantificationQuantification9 months ago in Personal More Like This
One of the things I hate about the internet is that everything must be quantifiable. Without a proper source, no one will believe you, no matter how reliable your original info was when you received it. It doesn't matter if you heard it from a professor giving a lecture in college, if you read it in a book, read a report by a scientist, or saw a documentary that went into elaborate detail... if there isn't an internet equivalent, then you're seen as a compulsive liar.
Case in point, recently someone mentioned that my sketches look better than my finished artwork and I responded by telling them that there was science that helped back up why that phenomenon exists. But since I couldn't remember the source, I got trolled hardcore for saying that. Today, however, I stumbled upon a close enough equivalence. Here's a quote:
The sketchiness of line art mimics the natural lack of clarity in our peripheral vision. When we look at the real wo
More Shutdown News and Google Using YouGOP Keeping the Government ShutdownMore Shutdown News and Google Using You9 months ago in Personal More Like This
What's really frustrating about the government shutdown is that BOTH SIDES want to reopen the government. Republican and Democrats alike want the government to continue to operate. However thanks to a handful of Republican leaders in Congress, things have been set up to basically STOP our government for their political gain.
Basically they've silently changed the way congress works to place the entire power of the shutdown in the hands of the GOP.
I do not think that your average republican is inherently evil or a bad person. There are actually a lot of laws that both Republican and Democrats agree on. But more and more I'm seeing the Republican PARTY start to exercise their ideas independently of their demographic. I mean, the whole point of the government shutdown (according to the Republican Party) was to stop Obamacare. But Obamacare still went into effect because it wasn't part of the budget plan that was actually under discus

Well now, seriously
I follow some facebook pages.
To tell you the truth I follow the ones that credit artists for their work, because I find it nice to click on the link they provide of their galleries and almost die of happiness seeing other wonderful artworks from the same person on their own site.
But yesterday a Saint Seiya Page I follow had a funny comic stolen by a famous Anime Page on Facebook. The ADMs claim they found it on google already the way it was. Without the SSpage logo. And they put their logo on that comic, posted on their page as if it was theirs. Because seriously, when you put your logo on a work you found on internet you are automatically saying IT IS YOURS! And, of course
Noah and The Winter Solider DiscussionNoahNoah and The Winter Solider Discussion3 months ago in Personal More Like This
I’ve already mentioned that I enjoyed Noah in a previous journal, but after talking with friends and family and reading reviews online I feel inclined to bring it up again. See, Noah is under a HUGE assault like no other movie in recent years has been. On one side Christians are lambasting it for deviating too much from the sanitized version of Noah’s Ark they’re familiar with and “removing god” from the storyline (I’ll get back to why that’s ridiculous in a minute), while atheists are lambasting it as more of the same “Christianity propaganda” they’ve worked so hard to avoid. The bottom line being that BOTH sides are refusing to see the movie due to their ideological beliefs.
And that’s just sad.
Noah is not a perfect film, but it’s still one that I think everyone should watch, both religious and non. Noah is, at it’s core, an interpretation of the classic story by an amazing film mak
